Elle’s stuck in a never-ending cycle of bad dates.
For the past few months, she’s committed herself to the online dating world, determined to find the perfect man. As she navigates through the streak of bad luck, her best friend, Miller, remains a steady, supportive presence, giving her time to realize that he’s more than willing to be exactly what she’s looking for.
Stubborn as ever, Elle refuses to take the hints Miller’s throwing her way, so he makes it known that remaining only friends is no longer an option.
Can she put her reservations to the side and take a leap or will she let the fear of ruining the most important relationship in her life hold her back from the best thing to ever happen?
K. Lashaun is an adult contemporary author born and raised in the great state of Alabama. Her start in writing followed the typical blueprint for most authors - consuming an insane amount of books at an early age before turning that love of reading into a knack for story telling.
She enjoys crafting imperfect - unapologetically black - love stories.
The way the couple act, you would’ve thought they were in their early 20’s but according to the story, these friends were in their 30’s….too much indecisiveness for me for a couple in their 30’s.
I LOVED Elle and Millers story. I enjoyed really getting to know them and Miller was so patient. He is the dream man, patient and willing to give Elle all the time she needed. I loved how there was such a balance between them being sweet and then turning up the SPICE. It felt longer because of that and I got to savor this story….LOVE LOVE LOVE K. Leshaun’s writing ❤️❤️❤️
Oh my GOODNESS! I loved this even more than Between. I’m a sucker for friends-to-lovers and this was TOP TIER! The tension. The angst. The chemistry. CHEF’S KISS!! And Miller... oh Miller!!! In a way i wish it was longer but I also know that it was the perfect length because I don’t think my heart could’ve handled another page of them not being together. Elle is so adorably, heart-breakingly clueless and Miller is just EV-VER-RY-THING. Sigh. I can’t wait to reread this. 5 out of 5 wine glasses.
I was so excited for Elle's story, and you did not disappoint! My heart broke for her, as I learned her backstory, and why she yearned so much for love. She was really horrible at picking a potential suitor! Those damn dates that she went on, were a hot mess! But, good ole Miller was right there to pick up the pieces! Girl, how did you not see how much that man was into you? Over and over he tried to get her to open her eyes, to no avail. Wanted to thump her upside her head a few times, to make her get it! 😂 Miller, was a perfect friend and man! I knew he was going to have to boss up on her, at some point, and boy did he! The love was already there, and had been for some time between them. Elle was just too afraid to jeopardize her friendship. I hope this is not the end of this couple, as I would love to see where life takes them. Great read! 👍👍👍
Elle has been going on the most disastrous dates you could think of. Thank Goodness for her bestfriend Miller tagging along to make sure she is ok. Miller decides to let Elle know how he feels about her, but Elle doesn't want to ruin their friendship, even though she has feelings for him. When Elle finally gives in, it was best decision she ever made. Elle and Miller were such great friends almost to the point they were in a relationship. Elle had a rough childhood and she thought that her friendship with Miller was more important than her love life. I was so glad when she finally gave in to Miller. I loved everything about that man and wished he was mine. I didn't want this book to end. Great read!!!
This pulled on a thug’s heartstrings for sure! Elle’s story is that of so many other women, trying to fill voids with relationships. Thank God for Miller. And speaking of Miller, I know they say good things come to those who wait, and baabbyy that man has the patience of Job 🤣. I applaud him for never making Elle feel less than regardless of the choices he watched her make. He loves that woman’s entire essence and I am so glad Elle finally got a new prescription so she could see what she’d been missing. 10’s across the board! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 I can’t wait for the next piece by this author
I’m supposed to be on a reading break but here I am. I saw this book on a blog’s page and decided to check it out. Such a fun, quick read. I’m a sucker for a F2L story and a man that makes his wants known. Miller did not play the radio. I loved his protectiveness and patience while giving Elle time to process the transition in their relationship. The chemistry was popping and the build up was everything. I read this book slowly because like Miller... I wanted to savor it. Great job!
Elle was so committed to online dating she wasn’t gonna stop until she got her a little companion but what sis really needed was Miller! Miller came through and put a stop to all the nonsense tho and I couldn’t blame him because Elle was out here doing the most with the online dating! This was a friends to lovers romance that got straight to the point!
Miller was going along to get along until he just could not any more. Elle was on a mission to make each date worse than the previous date. Finally Elle is forced to open her eyes to the options in front of her when her security has had enough.
Miller’s protectiveness, attentiveness and reliability was just a few ways he showed his love for Elle. Elle reciprocated that with being compassionate and reliable.Their relationship was adorable and admirable. I understood why Elle was hesitant to change the dynamics of the relationship but at the same time she was getting in my nerves...girl pay attention! I appreciated the author giving background details, Elle’s past experiences and upbringing, as that added significance and depth although this was a novella. Friends to Lovers story with a HEA ending, this was a pleasant read.
Friends to lovers are always a vibe!! Poor Elle went on date after date while the man that she needed waited in the background. For this to be a short story, I feel like a read a full novel. The way that the author delved into Elle’s childhood, it made a ton of sense why she felt the need to date men after men. And Elle being afraid of taking her friendship with Miller to the next level was understandable. However, I felt for Miller. He seemed to be torn between wanting to be there for Elle and waiting her in a different way. I loved their friendship but a relationship was a better look, lol. Good work!!
Okay, this was book two, and I believed this one too. Elle was the best friend of Bliss from book one, and also friends with Miller. Elle was on the quest to find her own boo thang like her bestie Bliss. She went on dates with a bunch of f-boys until she finally realized her man was staring her in the face. Her bestie Miller had Elle's back in her dating disasters, all the while he seethed from within. Thankfully, the happily ever after was what Elle and Miller wanted....
I always love a good friends to lovers story and this one did not disappoint. Miller knew exactly what he wanted from Elle but she was a little slow in recognizing her feelings were reciprocated. It’s always funny to me how there is always one in a friends to lovers situation that can’t seem to get passed the friendship stage and thinking that taking things further will ruin the friendship instead of believing that their friendship is the foundation a successful relationship needs. Elle was the skeptic but Miller knew what it was. Very good read!
I love a man that talks cash money and even though I normally think slow burn novellas are oxymorons, as usual K. Lashaun is the exception. Elle was the worst kind of delulu but Miller (horrible name btw) was determined to set her straight. My plan to work my way through this catalogue is coming alone well. Side note: while the writing isn’t as developed as her later works reading her older stuff has been delightful. Which can be really hit or miss with most authors. She’s a hit!
I really liked how we got background on Elle to help explain why she was looking for love. It was done very well and didn’t feel too drawn own considering the length of the novella. I just kinda wish we got more time with her and Miller into their relationship or just a tid bit more banter between the two. But overall it was a very enjoyable read - I stayed up to finish it lol.
Sometimes when the change comes, its scary but you have to accept it and move with the flow.
These two were something. Love is right infront of her but never having anything for herself before holds her back. Having friends and a solid friendship melted me. Millers love and patience is worth Elle's letting go.
(2.75) I wanted to give this book more, but I just can't. Maybe this is one of those books that needed to be just a bit longer for the story to be better developed. I am a big fan of friends to lovers' romance books, and I think this book had a lot of potential. I believed Elle's and Miller's feelings for each other, but something was missing (I can't put my finger on it).
This book reminded me why Friends to Lovers is a top tier troupe & how when done right, you can't get enough. This book was too short & I needed at least 60 more pages after Elle stopped being stupid. Elle was so concerned about ruining her friendship with Miller, she didn't see that they were past friends. Miller was done being just friends & he didn't even give Elle a choice, he chose for her lol. These two were everythingggg.
I love a good friends to lovers romance and Elle and Miller's story was am enjoyable read. Their journey from friends to lovers was entertaining to read but not without a few bumps to get there.
Elle was frustrating.. i wanted to shake her to death every time she decided running was the safe choice! Miller did what needed to be done, stood his ground and put his foot down !
I love a good friends to lovers book, although Elle was on my last nerves I understood why she felt that way but sometimes you just have to let go and love. Miller was everything she needed, good read!
Elle & Miller Best Friends are silently pining for one another. He’s tired of her going on all the dates with bums so he applies pressure, literally. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
