Maggy Fitzgerald is happy. She works at her best friend’s flower shop with the full knowledge that this is probably as good as its going to get. That is until that same friend talks her into going out to a biker bar so they can "live on the wild side" for a night.
Nate Black is cranky. He has a right to be. At least that’s what he thinks. Spending an evening now and then drinking a beer with the guys EasyRiders, is one of the only things that he enjoys, sort of.
Then, he meets her. A sexy, curvy woman who makes him smile... and laugh. A dangerous woman.
Good thing he’s an a**hole because getting rid of her the next morning is easy. The hard part? Forgetting her.
This was an amazing book by the author. Nate and Maggie are total opposites, but when they come together, the chemistry is off the charts! I will admit, I was put off by Nate’s angry attitude throughout most of the book, but he quickly redeemed himself once he opened up about his dark secrets and let Maggie in, and in the end, he became one of my favorite characters. Would definitely recommend this book!
Maggy is a good friend. The kind that goes to a biker bar to support her friend’s exploration of her “wild side”. What she doesn’t count on is the super sexy hottie that she decides to go home with. After having a night of hot smexy times, she woke to a grump that couldn’t wait to split. After such a disastrous morning after, he last thing she expected was for the birth control to fail and to have to hunt down the cranky pants that knocked her up.
Nate doesn’t do repeats. Hookups only - even when they were as sexy and enjoyable as Maggy. And when she comes to him claiming to be pregnant with his child, he about loses it - especially since he’s had a vasectomy. But a quick trip to the doctor confirms everything may not be as permanent as he thought and now Nate has to decide. Can he open himself up again? He’s already been through a devastating loss and he isn’t sure if he can handle putting his heart out there agin.
This was just a wonderful story. Maggy was a wonderful heroine! Strong and super sassy, she was a woman who knows what she wants and is willing to put herself out there to get it. Nate was just a big ole cranky pants that had hardened himself after a tragedy and was afraid to let anyone in. There were laugh out loud moments, there were tears streaming moments, and there good doses of smexy times. All around a great read with wonderful side characters that kept you vested until the end. Will definitely be reading Kayt Miller again!
This story was absolutely awesome, a brand new series and stand alone book with a wonderful cast of characters. It made me laugh, curse and even tear up a few times.
The main story features Maggie who has an older best friend. Mags is 35 and Robin is in her 50's. Robin decides to drag her bestie to a biker bar and thats how Mags meets Nate and has a one night stand with him.
After that one night he is awful to her but he also won't leave her alone. They have a connection and it won't let him go. He is a strong alpha type but also one who is hiding from life and the people that love him and a connection to anyone or anything.
Mags is desperate for connections. Her mother has died and Robin is really all she has. But she manages to be a happy person and so she cannot understand Nate's grumpy and negative attitude.
These two go on a journey and face their demons maybe not together but eventually they become friends and Nate struggles to get Mags to give him a second chance with her and become a family.
This was a fast paced story and I absolutely loved the writing, characters and plot of this story.
I received a free ARC copy of this book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a new series for me as well as a new for me author. It is a stand alone book so you can read it and not the next books, as this is the first, but trust me once you read this you are going to want to read more. This has me laughing out loud at times so hard that I almost wet myself.
Maggie's friend Robin drags her to a biker bar where she meets Nate and has a one night stand. The next morning Nate treats Maggie so horribly. I swear I called Nate all kinds of names while reading. He will make you that peeved, but stick with him. He's worth it in the end.
He has a reason for being the way he is and I promise when all is said and done you are going to love him. Everyone needs a friend like Robin though! She is in her fifties and I swear was so wonderful.
This is a wonderful story of two people who need the connection they have with one another even if they struggle to get there. It has plenty of laughs, wonderful chemistry, a second chance and a best friend that will make you wish for one like her.
Maggy is happy with her life as she works with her best friend, who has pretty much taken over as surrogate mother to her after her own mother passed. That best friend talks her into going to a biker bar, and this is when she comes face to face with Nate, who she ends up hooking up with all night long. By the next morning, Nate treats her like gum on the bottom of his shoe which had me ready to take him out completely. Thankfully, she's not the type of girl who will go back for more, but things changed so she had to see him one more time, and he was even worse this round so I honestly believed that I would never like him at all. I'm happy to say that I did end up warming up to him because of the reason he was like he was, however, I never fell in love with him because he was cruel in his push & pull for a cool minute before we knew the why of it. I've gone back & forth trying to decide how to rate this book, but the bottom line is all my emotions were dragged out to run amok, so I decided on the 5 star since Kayt Miller had me feeling the story, not just reading it. Anyway, I'm ready for the next book in this series, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
I liked Cranky Pants , I've read a few Kayt Miller books this would have to be my favorite by the author I can't wait to read more by her in the future I hope this isn't that last we see of the characters . I really liked the heroine something about her character just made me want to know more about her . The hero took me some time to connect to when we find out why he is the way he is and what happened in his past just about broke me and made me start to fall for him just like the heroine . The side characters were likable would have loved a better understanding of the friends relationship and how they turned out or if they have their own book that would awesome . I can't wait to read more by the author and I hope this isn't the last seeing some of the characters . stars = 4 hero = 4 heroine = 5 side characters = 4 steam = 3.5 ending = 4
New to me author. I discovered this book through BookBub and grabbed a copy because it sounded intriguing. However, it came across as a biker romance and that’s not what I got. So if you’re looking for an MC romance, move along. This isn’t it. Seriously, there are two short scenes in a biker bar, but not a single thing that makes this a biker romance. I honestly felt the EasyRiders and biker bar tossed into the book description were highly misleading.
Cranky Pants is a romance about a rich guy who’s lost what’s most important in his life, so naturally when he spends a night with Maggy and realizes he likes her, he acts like an assh*le and pushes her away. Nate ran so hot and cold at times he gave me a headache. While I could understand he was hurting, the fact Maggy kept letting him back in annoyed me. I enjoyed Maggy’s character, for the most part, and by the last third of the book the relationship between the two of them seemed to flow better.
The book wasn’t horrible, but it’s definitely not something I’d re-read. It was okay and a decent diversion from life for a few hours.
This was my first book by this author and I was hooked from the first page 😊
Maggy Fitzgerald was a happy and sweet person and when her friend asked her to go out with her to a biker bar, she couldn’t say no. And that became the best night of her life. Well until the next morning 😊 She met Nate Black and they spent the night together. But the next morning he practically threw her out of his house. And she vowed to forget about Nate Black. But it didn’t happen the way she wanted it to.
Nate Black met Maggy at the bar and immediately he was attracted to her. But he doesn’t do relationships, and after they spent the night together he kicked her out. But it was kind of hard to forget about her, especially when she came back a few weeks later and dropped a bomb on him. And even though he cant help the attraction he feels for her, he was even meaner to her the second time. He just cant get involved with anyone ever again… Or will Maggy be different?
When I started this book I was hooked from the get go, but after Maggy and Nate spent the night together and he was so awful I was like WTH dude. And it took a minute for me to like him again, lol. But when I read his story I could understand his hesitancy about getting involved with Maggy. Definitely a book full of emotions and amazing chemistry and just an all around good and easy read. I am looking forward to the next one in this series. But I also want to read Robin and Gus’s story 😊 ♥
Maggy and Nate’s story pulled me in from the very start. Both Nate and Maggy were interesting characters to get to know and I enjoyed watching them come together. Nate, with his brooding and sexy ways, surprised me throughout the story. I loved seeing him allowing himself the chance to connect with someone. His story was not what I was expecting, which made his decision to become a man worthy of Maggy that much more enjoyable. Of course, I loved Maggy and thought she was the perfect woman for Nate! I came to admire her tenacity and her strong will. She gave as good as she got and ultimately opened herself up to what was developing between her and Nate.
This was my first book by Kayt Miller and I enjoyed everything she brought to the page. I appreciated that she took the time to develop Maggy and Nate’s connection thoroughly. It was a treat to read how these went from one-night stand lovers to friends and ultimately to partners. Although not an emotional read per se, the story did have its share of poignant moments sprinkled throughout, which balanced the story nicely.
This is the first book I’ve read by Ms Miller and I have to say I’m glad I found her. I really enjoyed Cranky Pants and look forward to reading more of her works. I found the book to be fun, flirty, and romantic with bouts of emotional aghast as well. It’s fast paced and most definitely worth grabbing up ASAP.
Maggie is single and works at her best friends Flower Shop. Robin, the friend/shop owner, is quite a bit older and is convinced she knows just what Maggie needs. So she talks Maggie into a night out at a biker bar. It’s there she meets Nate, aka Cranky Pants. Nate and Maggie end up having a one night stand, which ends the next morning with Nate being nasty to Maggie. Trust me I so wanted to dislike Nate at this point. I mean connection or no, there was no reason to be so rude. But Maggie, having her own personal issues, knew there has to be more to him than the vibe he was throwing out there.
Their journey isn’t all sunshine and roses but it’s a ride worth taking with them. I highly recommend it and can’t wait for more to come.
Maggy meets Nate Black at a biker bar when he overhears one of the worst but,I think clever, pick up lines ever! After getting rid of Mad dog, the man with the pick up line, Nate ask Maggy to go home with him, therefore starts the journey of their love and discovery of two broken people. Nate was truly cranky but you couldn't help but laugh and begrudgingly love him at the same time. Maggy has a great friend in Robin and Robin's biker man, Gus which is a interesting side love story which I hope is explored in their own story. I loved this book it has everything you would want in a rom.com book. It had love, sexy scenes, beautiful woman, handsome man, cute baby, great friends, laughter and it definitely tugs at your heart string, I cried a little at one point in this book. Everyone needs to read this GREAT BOOK.
Nate Black is no only cranky but, cocky, sexy, hot and handsome
Maggy meets Nate in a biker bar her best friend Robin takes her too, overhearing a fellow biker give Maggy one awful pick up line, he in turn ask Maggy to go home with him. A sexy night of passion led to a surprise pregency that Nate absolutely wants no part of. Maggy decides with the help of her best friend Robin and Robin's biker boyfriend Gus, that she will raise this baby on her own. Maggy and Nate begrudgingly starts a friendship after Nate opens up about his past. This book has laughter, love, sex, tears really everything you want in a romance book. This is a great book and believe me you will fall in love with cranky pants Nate Black.
new to me author that I will certainly keep on my radar. I enjoyed the funny yet emotional story of Maggy and Nate. Maggy is in a biker bar with her older best friend who wants to visit her wild side. Nate saved Maggy from Mad Dog a geriatric biker with a hilarious pickup line . They had a great night. Maggy has stars in her eyes until she encounters Nate now known as Mt Cranky Pants. He was a complete jerk. that was the end until it wasn't. Nate seems to be unlikable until you get his back story. I will admit to sharing some tears for Mr Cranky Pants. The author did a great job mixing fun and emotion. I look forward to continuing this series.
Maggy works for her best friend in her flower shop, and when she is convinced to have a night by the same friend, at a biker bar she accepts. Nate is cranky and stubborn and when he meets Maggy in the bar they end up having a one-night stand, and he is not very nice to her the next morning. These two do end up a friends’, with Nate struggling to get Maggy to give him a second chance. This is a well written tale with realistic and engaging characters, and is a fast paced, entertaining, and emotional, with a tad angst, which all leads to a humorous storyline. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
This was a good book. Hang in there with Nate. He's going make you shake your head and want to shake some sense into him. You see little glimpses of the real Nate. My heart just broke for Nate and his reasons for being a jerk sometimes. I loved Maggy. I would so be friends with her in a heartbeat. Life is about to throw her several curve balls, but the reward at the end is so worth it all. Really the characters in this one had me hooked. I liked Maggy's boss Robin and her beau. This book really pulls a lot of reactions out of you. I laughed, cried, yelled, and smiled through out this book. The epilogue is the cherry on top this book sundae. It left me with a huge smile on my face.
Overall cute story. It was very "will they or wont they". But not in the form of, Im pushing you away for your benefit, more like I'm scared and running away.
The writing style and details were well done, and character development was excellent. So much so, that I was angry at the characters and happy with them when good things happened.
I absolutely loved the awful, cringe worthy pick up lines. Based on the title, and the series being called the pick up line series, I was expecting more of a rom-com. There were some cute, fun parts but overall, Id classify this more as a romantic drama (along the Pg/Pg-13 scope).
Well written story, likable characters, and a HEA. Worth the read.
206 bones!!!😂 That was definitely one I'd never heard! This is a solid 2.75/3 star read! Just Bates "Do you want to feck" pick up line had my tummy dropping! But alas he was a big fat jerk & a cranky character in the beginning and I really adored Maggie! I loved her and Robin's friendship. I don't really understand Robin and Gus's story but hopefully we'll see that in future books! Ms. Miller can weave a story that makes you smile, lol, be angry and next bring tears to your eyes and heartache the next! This was my first book by this author and definitely not my last. Free with K.U.
DNF at 67% I was really trying to stick it out to the end so I could give it a complete overall rating/review but this book was so incredibly slow yet also frustrating to me. I’m not a fan of surprise pregnancy tropes so that didn’t necessarily help (though I wasn’t aware that was in here when I chose to read). I can’t even recall the main man’s name right now, but his and Maggy’s relationship was infuriating and there was something about Maggy’s personality that I can’t put my finger on that just irked me to my core. I just couldn’t make myself finish it, I felt like I was dragging myself along a mile run
I need Kayt Miller to write more books. Not because they are amazingly good. Not because I love them all. But because I’m addicted to reading them. Even when they’re mid, I still finish it like, gimme the next one.
This books was probably one of her best books story wise. Like on plot alone, it might be the best. I don’t know that might be a lie, it’s late, lol. Also, I never know what amount of smut will be in her books. This one has virtually none, but then she’ll have a book like Game Changer where the smut is pretty detailed, and there are a few of them. You never know with this woman. She is an enigma.
This book is hilarious. The banter between Maggy and Nate will suck you in and the steam will keep you reading. Maggy doesn't put up with Nate's attitude and I love that about her. When a one night stand becomes more complicated will Nate run or stay? Both characters have difficult pasts but nothing can prepare you for the heartbreak Nate has endured. I wanted to reach into the book and just be a part of they're world. Gus and Robin are amazing side characters. I can't wait until the next book in the series comes out.
Cranky Pants is the first title in the Pick – Up Lines series featuring Nate and Maggy, who’s story is an opposites attract romance. Maggy is a curvy, sweet, endearing, and relatable heroine, who at first comes off as a bit to kind, is actually quite strong willed and tenacious. Nate appears to be unredeemable, and difficult to connect with but as the story progresses and the reasoning behind his actions is heartbreaking and you can understand his hesitancy. This title is sure to take you through a gamut of emotions.
I loved this story. It made me laugh at the cheesy pick up lines. It also made me sad. I couldn't put book down once I started.
I loved Maggy and Nate together, it took a while for Nate to get his head out of his arse. But you could tell he wanted to be part of it all, even though he was reluctant. Maggy was strong to put up with everything. When they finally give in its amazing.
This book had me laughing the whole way! I love Maggie’s sassy attitude and that she gives back to Nate what he deserves. She throws him completely through a loop and has no idea what to do with her.
Once Nate decides this relationship could be more than a one night stand the gloves are off.
I adored Maggie’s relationship with Robin. They are a comedy show alone. I would love to see a book for Robin!
Get ready to fall in love with Mr. Crankypants just like Maggie does.
This book did not unfold the way I expected. It definitely isn't your typical romance novel where the H and h hook up, run back in to each other and realize they're madly in love. There was a lot of emotional baggage drug around throughout the story and it had some really heart squeezy moments. But it also had some really tender and lovely moments. The characters took a long road to come together, but when they did, it was beautiful. I shed quite a few tears, but I loved every second of it.
I’m just not really sure how I feel about this book. I really did not like Nate. Even though I get that his back story is sad and has made him this way, he was just too much of an a** and she just put up with too much from him. Even when he “redeemed “ himself at the end, I still just couldn’t fully get on board.
I didn’t like it as much as I wanted to, especially because of Nate’s hot and cold attitude. Maggy was a nice FMC and I liked that she focused on what was right for her and her needs. I also appreciated Robyn and Gus and I hope they get a book. Good writing and good plot, just not “where has this book been all my life” kind of amazing.
Nate and Maggy have a fun night that blesses them with a surprise positive pregnancy test. Nate has a shaky past that challenges his relationship with Maggy. Maggy lost her mother to cancer and she will do anything to have a family for her and her baby.
Combine a real jerk of a “hero” and a real doormat and you have this book. I was really disappointed as I’ve really enjoyed her past books. The best I can say is that I did finish it.
I'm glad I get to read this one as this is the first book I've read by the author. It was such a fun read even though it started off intense. I liked all the emotional roller coaster ride it got me on. I can't wait to read more from the author.
This was a little bit graphic for my sensibility, but other than that issue, this was a cute story with some genuinely funny moments. I might read the next book in the series since I enjoyed this book.
