Even in a series, every book should be self contained. Having to buy book 2 to find out what happened in book 1 and then to do it poorly is a writing skill I'd rather not have a part in contributing to in any way.

3.75 stars—ALL THE LIES is the first instalment in Charlotte Byrd’s contemporary, adult storyline focusing on journalist Emma, and recluse Liam Parish.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Emma and Liam) ALL THE LIES follows in the aftermath of Emma’s discovery that Alex, her fiance of two years had been in a relationship with someone else. At that evening’s engagement party for Emma and Alex, a farce Emma had refused to attend, Emma would meet recluse Liam Parish, Alex’s friend, a man who stirred something deep within our story line heroine but all was not well in Emma’s professional life when her boss gave an ultimatum to to get an exclusive interview with the mysterious DB Carter, an author whose real identity nobody knows. With both her professional and personal life spiralling out of control, Emma goes on the hunt and search for DB Carter.

ALL THE LIES focuses on the world of indie publishing, and at times reads like a how-to, step by step journal to self publishing . Charlotte Byrd goes into detail and walks the reader through the life of an author, the steps to publication, and the innate differences and struggles between traditional and self-publishing.

ALL THE LIES is first and foremost a story of secrets and lies-so many secrets and so many lies. From Emma’s relationship with her family, her fiancé, her work and her life, the number of secrets and lies amass exponentially the more Emma begins to uncover the truth. Emma will embark on the hunt for Indie author DB Carter in an effort to save her job but finds herself facing a familiar face who is not the person he presented to be. Liam Parish is an enigma; a man whose past is threatening his present, and in this our hero has many secrets that if revealed could destroy everything he has and more. The premise is engaging and captivating; the characters are colorful yet broken; the romance has barely touched the surface of what’s to come.

This series so far is starting out very promising. Emma is a journalist that I spoke having a horrible time in her personal life and now she a assignment that she has no idea how to start or navigate and when she meets the attractive and allusive Liam he might just be the answer to it all. Can’t wait for the next book

This series gets off to a sinfully enticing start as Emma and Liam's story begins to unfold. Emma was likable, sweet and spunky. It was pretty easy to sympathize with the troubles and issues she had. Liam was intriguing and hot. If feel like we barely scratched the surface as far as he is concerned but so far I like everything I see. There is a strong pull of attraction and steady thrum of chemistry that you can feel zinging back-and-forth between these two during every interaction. The story itself grabbed my interest and held it with a well crafted combination of drama, emotion, twists and mystery. Do try to prepare for the cliffhanger and the wait for the next piece to this gripping tale. By my own accord I'm posting a objective review.

The feeling I experienced when reading this book was the slow upward trajectory you get when you’ve just sat down on a roller coaster. The wheels clicking as you make your way to the top, the anticipation of reaching it and the stomach flip you get as you speed towards the first dip. The tension is palpable and these characters are so well developed that you’re excited to read on and on. Charlotte Byrd is a super nova when it comes to episodic book writing. Let’s stay on the ride. I was fortunate enough to receive an arc for a fair and honest review.

Emma is a reporter and needs to get an interview with a reclusive bestselling author to keep her job. Her life is turned upside down when she finds her fiancée cheating on her and her horrible family has spun a web of lies. She meets Liam and sparks fly; will he be able to help her save her job? Fast paced read with loads of twists and turns and lots of steam. I liked it.

This read really fast and with minimal story movement. H was a journalist that lacked truth and integrity. The H was a recluse but trusting and sensitive. Not sure how love occurred bu 1 week. There’s enough suspense and intrigue to the story. Wasn’t a bad start but this will take 6 books to complete this story???

Once again Charlotte Byrd gives her readers another start to an amazing new series full of suspense, drama and passion. This fast paced story will pull you in with all of the secrets, lies, and romance as well as an indepth understanding into the literary world of indie authors. Sweet Emma who has made it on her own without her family's support struggles with a boss who hates her and is looking for any excuse to fire her. Now Emma is told she needs to get an interview with a reclusive writer who no one can locate or else. And if that wasn't enough she then finds out her fiance has been cheating on her for years on the day of her engagement party. Upset and furious needing support from her family, Emma now has to deal with an overbearing mother who is forcing her to go through with the party and forgive Alex for his cheating. With the support from her father and younger sister she learns of the secrets about her father that was kept from her, will she have the courage to end this farce? Alex is a self centered egotistical jerk who thinks that it was okay to cheat with his boss for years and that he and Emma can still be together, he even threatens her with her family's finances that is controlled by his father's company. Distraught and not wanting to deal with all of the pretense of being happy, Emma meets a handsome stranger at the party. At once Hannah finds she opens up to this charismatic man named Liam who happens to know her ex and finds she is so at ease with him that she tells him what Alex did to her. One look at Liam and this young aspiring writer will finally get her voice and stands up for herself as she informs everyone that the wedding is off. Now Emma who is recovering from a night of hell starts to dig into finding D.B. Carter as she is on a dead line, is led to a small town in the desert by a person on the writer's group page. Hannah will be shocked when she arrives in this quaint town as she finds out who D.B. Carter really is. This story will have you on edge with more secrets and danger that Liam is hiding from Hannah as these two open up, they are instantly drawn into each other as feelings will be brought to the surface that they can't hold back or deny. The passionate chemistry between them will lead up to a proposition as we are left with one hell of a cliffhanger. Will Hannah give into Liam's demands? Will she write her article and deal with the fall out from Liam if it is released? What or who is Liam hiding from? I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book. Charlotte, you have done it again with All The Lies! Now we are left with having to wait for the next book to see how all of this drama is going to play out.

All the Lies, by Charlotte Byrd. Oh my gosh, I’m in love with Liam. This was a great book to read. Charlotte took a plot and a subplot and basically pulled me into this story. The book has a little mystery and some, oh no you didn’t.
Slap that face. Kick butt, drama to it. Both plots left me curious, and just about dying to know what’s going to happen next. Charlotte put a new spin on her plots that I thought was unique and original. What an awesome way to start off a new series.
The book has a lot of realism to it which helped me to get to know the characters more. The book is definitely informative. I would like to thank the writer for explaining in great detail how things in certain job fields are done. And the cause and effect of ones actions in that job field. When you read the book you will understand what I’m talking about.
Believe me this is one of the good parts to the story. Learning this has really made me appreciate reading all the more. The entertainment from the book was priceless. In a way the entertainment contributed to the buildup of the confrontations that takes place. Emma’s character is a sweet, genuine woman whose trying to find herself again after her life has come to a screeching halt.
Emma has the support of her two amazing sisters and her father. She has a job that she’s dedicated to. She feels that she should do more with her life, but what is that? Liam is the mysterious man that everyone is familiar with. Liam leads his life privately with secrets he feels are dark.
These secrets he believes has made him a damaged man. Liam has come to a conclusion that he is a dangerous man to know. Little that Emma and Liam know that their lives will cross paths and that’s when the fun really begins. I recommend this book book with two snaps and a, Liam, you sexy cowboy you. Thank you to the men out there who love big beautiful women. We know how to have some fun in the bedroom too. Until next time my fellow readers... read on!

“There was something about the characters, the setting, and his use of language that lured me in and kept me there until I was done.” This quote sums up beautifully my feelings when it comes to this new series by Charlotte Byrd.
From the first page, there is no way to escape this compelling read that will have you hooked. Imagine trusting the one person who is supposed to have your back and discover him in flagrante delicto with the last person you would expect. What would you do? Suffice it to say that Emma was having none of it and it leads her on a new trajectory as she throws herself into her work to get, what amounts to be, the story of the century. Liam is the best friend of Emma’s ex and from their first meeting, you can feel the goosebumps going up and down your arms as there is something brewing between these two. Their chemistry is a slow burn to ignition but once it starts, there is no stopping it. Adding a bit of realism to the storyline, is Ms. Byrd’s utilization of educating aspiring authors to the self-publishing world and the steps needed if one chooses to go that route while contrasting it to that of traditional publishing houses. This is one enticing storyline that will have readers questioning what is going on with Liam and where does this journey take him and Emma? Unfortunately, readers will have to wait until the next book as this does end in a cliffhanger but if past experience is anything to go by, this author will definitely make it worth any readers while. I cannot wait to read the next installment. I volunteered to read a copy of this book.

This was a quick and easy read. I was drawn into the story and it was fast paced. I am uncertain why it is advertised as an enemies-to-lovers story because that wasn't the case at all.

There are only a handful of chapters from the hero's POV so we don't get to know him too well. I wish we had more character development for him; however, this is a trilogy so maybe that will happen in the next book. I liked the heroine at the start of the story but she got kind of weak during her interactions with the hero at the end of the book. I enjoyed the heroine's younger sister's character and hope she is in the other books. I'm not going to say much more about the book as the description is kind of vague and I don't want to give any spoilers.

The author had two proofreaders and an editor for this book. I suggest she hire some different ones. The tenses were all over the place, to the point of having different tenses in the same sentence. (Pet peeve of mine.) There were also some editing errors. For example, the heroine is sitting at one point in the story and a few paragraphs later she is standing and puts a book back on the shelf. Another example: the hero says one of his hobbies is reading and then later he says he doesn't read much. These things were sprinkled throughout the story.

Between the editing errors and not really connecting with any of the characters, I've decided not to continue the series.

I loved this book. This is book 1 of the trilogy All the Lies. This is Emma Scott and Liam Parish’s story. This fast-paced romantic suspense is emotional, intense, but addicting with all of its lies and secrets. Emma is a journalist who is assigned a story that will excel her career—locate, research and interview D.B. Carter, the infamous reclusive author. Who is really DB Carter? Will Emma ever find out? You talk about high stress level, Emma visits her fiancé, Alex, office to tell him about the exciting news, and low and behold, she got the surprise of her life—finding him in a compromising position in his office with none other than his boss!! Then she is to pretend it didn’t happen by attending her engagement party at her parent’s house. Liam was invited to her party by her fiancé, and after talking to Emma, Liam finds that he likes her and can’t stop thinking about her. Thus, the chain of events starts of who is the mysterious DB Carter. This story is intriguing and captivating with its twists and turns—some you see coming, some you don’t. Charlotte Byrd manages to weave plot lines centered on romantic ideas with artfully developed main characters. This book ends on a cliffhanger. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

This is book one in a new series from the amazing Charlotte Byrd called All The Lies and it is a real page turner. Emma works at Coast Magazine and her supervisor tells her that she has to get an interview from D B Carter who is a recluse or else she is fired. Emma is engaged and she goes to his office to see him only to find that he has been having an affair with his boss for years and that starts a chain reaction. Liam sees Emma had her engagement party and feels something for her and when they start talking he knows that he want her and can't stop thinking of her but she is engaged and then everything goes wrong. Wow what an amazing start to this new series and I couldn't put it down as I had to see what would happen next and it was so addictive. Charlotte Byrd is an amazing author and writer and I can't wait to read the next book in this series. I definitely recommend you read this book and others by her and you will not be disappointed.

What a brilliant start to this new series, a page turner from start to finish making you want more.

Emma was a journalist for Coast Magazine and her supervisor tells her that she has to get an interview from D B Carter who is a recluse or else she is fired. But she has her own problems, after not getting hold of her fiancé she turns up at his office unannounced and catches him having sex on his desk with his boss, today of all days, tonight is their engagement party!

After talking to Liam a stranger at her party she decides to announce that the engagement is off in front of everyone, by looking at him it gives her strength.

With time on her hands she tries to find D B Carter, and someone gives her an address, with nothing else to do she goes to the address to see for herself......does she find him?

I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series, there is so much more of this story than we have read so far.

All the Lies

Emma was to be married to Alex, engagement party. When to his office to surprise him with lunch, well she got the SURPRISE of her life. He was screwing his boss right on his desk. It's over you SOB and hurt her and when home, told her mom to call of the party. Her mother said no because 200 people from all over the country were attending. In the end we told everyone that there wasn't going to be a wedding they Alex was a lair and cheater! She ended up going with her sisters to spend time away from the situation! Meeting a author she needed to write a article on, tying to find him, driving in the blazing hot sun on a tip and ended up meeting a guy who wrote book books. Cliff handset. Next book may be we will get to the bottom of this story! Who knows in this day and age? Will there be love or hate between the reporter or the author? We should find out whatever happens with the two in the next book. ENJOY it seems like a incredibly interesting love story.!

Charlotte Byrd's style of writing catches me from the beginning and makes me want to keep reading. When Emma can't think of a story angle in the meeting she throws out her first thought, an interview with reclusive author D. B. Clark. She never expected her boss to jump on the idea since nobody knows what he, or she, even looks like but she is stuck with the ultimatum of writing the story or look for another job. When she leaves work to surprise her fiancee, she is the one who gets the surprise on the eve of their engagement party. At the party she meets Tall, Dark and Handsome. The twists in this book from there will have you wanting more, I couldn't put the book down until I had read every word. Another hit for Charlotte and the beginning of what I think is going to be another great series.

Life brings some surprises in one that doesn't look too great.

Charlotte Byrd has written a great new series.  This first book has some wonderful characters and there's betrayal in one relationship and a good rapport as Liam and Emma meet.  After a cheating fiancé and no support from her family, things take a turn for the better with Emma.
Now work is a bit of a hardship.  Being a reporter a magazine her boss assigns her next job to be to find recluse writer.  This brings it's own excitement.  This book is a page turner one you just can't put down.  But you do have a cliffhanger.  It makes no difference since this is a fantastic read.
Recommend this book as a definite read.  Get ready for all the excitement and then be patient for the next book.  Loved this book.

What a great start to a series. This book is about Emma and Liam who is a very reclusive writer. However by the end of the book we learn he has another reason to be hiding out but will have to wait I presume for the next installment to find out what.
The story is excellent and the characters very believable. My heart went out to Emma finding out about her boyfriend and the pain this caused. I loved her sister who was confident in her body image and really helped Emma find herself again.
I would certainly read more in this series when I get a chance - I have two other book on the go at the same time.
I'm currently reading from a frozen London and this book certainly took me away from here and the cold to the much warmer climbs in the States.
Well worth a read to hear about Emma's empowerment and taking back control of her shattered life.

Oh my goodness, Charlotte did it again! I loved this book.

Emma is a sweet young lady who see’s the best in everyone. She works hard for what she has, and has, what she believes, is a loving fiancé, but all that changes when she discovers something about him. An engagement party, a bitch of a mother, a threatening fiancé, and a surprising understanding father!

Emma throws herself into work, she has a job to do, find a certain recluse author and write a story on them, it’s impossible, until someone messages Emma with their address. So off she goes, tracking down either a recluse author or a madman! The story finishes on a cliffhanger, so I can’t wait for book two as I hate cliffhangers! Lol

I love the stories Charlotte Byrd writes and All the Lies is the first novel in her new series All The Lies. It twlls the story of Emma, a magazine journalist who's job is in jeopardy without an interview with D.B. Carter (a famous international author), and Liam, who meets her at her forced attendance at her engagement party where she ends her engagement after discovering her fiancee' cheating on her with his boss the same afternoon. Liam is attracted to her, but he has dangerous secrets. However, Liam offers Emma a proposition to help her obtain the needed interview with D.B. Carter. Charlotte has written another fantastic book with a plot with complex and well developed characters, mystery, twists, and steamy chemistry. I highly recommend this fantastic book but it does end in a cliffhanger which will continue in the next installment of the All The Lies Series entitled All The Secrets.

the storyline was intriguing, but when i actually started it went hot and cold for me. it started out as a romcom for me, then it started feeling like i was taking a class on publishing novels then ended with both the H and h interested in each other when there was hardly any buildup. a bootie call that never was since this finished abruptly. emma and liam were characters with no personality and therefore not memorable. the conversations b/t them felt stiff and i won't be getting the remaining series. aside: i hated how the author always mentioned the body type of both emma and brooke. who cares if they don't have model figures? no need to emphasize that brooke is a big, fat girl whenever she was written into the scene.

This is Charlotte Byrd's new series and the first book does not disappoint. The two main characters are very enticing. There is Emma who is smart and likeable. She knows what she wants but is not quite sure how to get there. Liam is very intriguing and one hot alpha male. Their meeting is not conventional and the story draws you in. There is a definite attraction between the two main characters. Good character development and a storyline with tons of twists and turns. Looking forward to seeing what happens next because of course it ends with a cliffhanger.

All the Lies is the first in a new series and what a way to start. It is the story of Emma and Liam. Emma has had a tough time with a huge betrayal. She has a job to do and it is going to be huge. Liam can help her achieve her job but will he? These two are electric when they are together! The question is will ig go anywhere? These two had me laughing out load and yelling at times! I about tossed my kindle at one point! Check it out and see for yourself! So worth it! I am voluntarily leaving my review after reading an advance reader copy of the book from the author. I can not wait till the next book is out!
