I really like that we got to see a variety of interesting characters, some that could be potentially be future allies and some that could potentially be future enemies for Giselle and Ao. I also found it highly enjoyable seeing Ao’s determination to get better at his painting skillset to help protect Giselle, as well as, seeing/reading there be several mentions of Elias and Chise.

Ao's magic really fascinates me. I love that he's learning more and more, but I also love how each new color brings about new revelations. This work is really intricate, which I admire. I can't wait to read more.

More new characters with differing motives have appeared in this volume. Another solid art job by Isuo Tsukumo and the story by Makoto Sanda really reverberates. We are slowly getting a deeper knowledge of the world and the issues which prevail within the world. The action within the book is beautifully rendered and the pages flow rather quickly as you are reading this book. The charm of this series so far is that there is a sense of impending doom, and you are fighting against the clock, this is an interesting combination between loss, pain, suffering and hope. This book was probably my favorite so far of the series. This volume stays very interesting and/or intense in some way, shape or form each page!

I like how the series keeps introducing new characters but has a way of making me question all of them. I'm not sure I trust anyone's motives. This paints a picture (no pun intended) that Giselle and Ao can only depend on each other. This makes their relationship all the more touching. I really like this series.

Giselle saves Ao from getting kidnapped by Dimitri. Ao asks Dimitri to teach him alchemy. Giselle gets teary-eyed after seeing Ao's portrait of her.

A little growth for Ao and Giselle both thanks to new guy Dmitri. Set up for flashback at the end. Not a whole lot of plot though.
