Attending university was supposed to be an exciting, liberating experience, not a threat to my life.
I was your average pre-law student, with a predictable and bright future. Until I meet the gorgeous, mysterious bad boy Tyler Chase. His intoxicating presence changes my whole world.
One night I see something I'm not supposed to, and Tyler’s actions resurrect a dangerous secret. That secret, hidden for generations, puts me and my family at risk for a fate worse than death.
How can I keep us safe in a suddenly perilous world teeming with deadly supernaturals?
Author’s Note: This is an Academy Obscura prequel novella that leads into a whychoose/RH series. Contains language, steamy scenes, violence, and possibly triggering situations. Recommended for mature readers.
This short novella takes place parallel to the events in Academy Obscura: The Flame Within It is the story of Caprice’s best friend, Elena and the blonde guy they met at the beach party in the opening chapters of that book. In fact, this novella starts with the same scene, but from Elena’s POV.
Given its short length, there wasn’t a lot of character development, but it was enough to offer an enjoyable read. I wonder if Elena will turn up at the academy in a subsequent book from this series. I will say, that for a novella length novel, the author did pack in a lot of things; friends, lust, bad boys, mean girls, supernatural happenings and a very mean bad guy.
I definitely recommend this novella to anyone that has read the Academy Obscura series. While it’s not necessary to that story, it is nice to a bit more of a story arc to this “Obscura Universe.”
I have to say I was really glad that I noticed this book was not but number five but rather should’ve been book number one. I love the base of the characters and I can’t wait to find out more about them and the rest of the series. The twist that came about in the book was fun.
Loved reading about Elena and Tyler, such a interesting and unique storyline. Love the push/pull between them and the twists. Overall a great quick read
