She knows she shouldn’t like him. He’s too ambitious, too confident, too much of everything.

But when he offers to be her rebound guy, she finds herself agreeing.

Cam wants more than just a few stolen moments. And if there’s one thing he likes it’s a challenge. There hasn’t been one he hasn’t risen to before.

As far as he’s concerned, Mia won’t be the one that gets away…

Somebody Like You is the fourth book in the Heartbreak Brothers series by the talented Carrie Elks. I love how the author weaves in the characters from the other books, showing their closeness of a family. The love and support they have for each other.
Cam and Mia are both at a crossroads in their lives. Both have been hurt—him physically, and her emotionally, and they are struggling to find their feet. Their future.
What they find is each other, and although it was supposed to be one time, that rule along with every other one they made gets shattered. Love is discovered and interrupted, but never broken.
A wonderful, uplifting read about moving forward, letting go of the past and being loved so completely it takes your breath away.

I can hardly believe we are four books into the The Heartbreak Brothers series by Carrie Elks. We return to Hartsons's Creek, as Cam Hartson takes a break from his career as a professional football player. This is not a break he wanted, but a very necessary one all the same. A life changing decision must be made and home is where he can sort out his thoughts. That is until he meets new to town Mia Devlin and her two sons. These two do not get a meet-cute moment, things start off tense and the tension escalates, just more into the kind that makes for a great romance.

Mia and her sons, Michael and Josh are starting a new phase of their lives in Hartson's Creek. Her soon to be ex is starting a new life himself and leaves them to fend for themselves. Mia must find a job and get her sons settled in school. It's not long before she finds herself facing a surly Cam, seeking reparation from her son's ill-timed throw of the football. The attraction is immediate, but there are many obstacles as well.

Both Mia and Cam are very open about their attraction to each other and things start out as a no-ties, keeping things light, kind of relationship. It's supposed to be all physical and their idea of all physical is equally tantalizing and charming. Their connection quickly grows into something very strong, but obligations to family and tween hormones are interferences unlike anything Cam has seen on the football field. Best of all is the banter and flirtation these two share. It's off the charts sweet, fun, and provocative, and Cam proves he's really a very caring soul.

Hartson's Creek is wonderful small town community further enhanced by the return of a native some and a new family in the making. 4.5 Stars and recommendation!

This is Cameron Hartson story and the fourth in the Hartson’s Creek series and it was so good. I loved this one especially, it was a sweet, moving and unpredictable story. I was definitely on the edge of tears at times, which just goes to show how well it was written. I really enjoyed the whole story and found it hard to put down.

Cam is the football player, confident, sexy and well...built like a footballer. I loved his sense of humour and sassy comebacks. Mia is a newly divorced Mum of two boys and she is new in town. She is a great character, independent, determined and sweet; I really liked her. Of course, the rest of his family are in the story, all the brothers and Becca, Cam's sister, they are such a great group; funny, supportive and kind.

This series is definitely one to read and I highly recommend them all. The final story in this series will be Becca's and with four very protective Hartson brothers it should be an interesting one; I can't wait to read it.

Cam, an ex-football player comes back to his hometown and meets a single mother of 2 boys (8 and 14). Now,her boys, Josh(the youngest) is hilarious and Michael (the eldest) is protective of them.

The boys hit Cam’s car(Audi)with their football and so the story unfolds when he came into small town.

This is definitely not a slow burn but they do have Naked Saturday, Mia and Cam,hence him being called Doctor Love.

really sweet, a little boring

This was a boy meets girl, they fall in lust instantly, hook up, nothing really happens, they live HEA.

But seriously, there was little to no drama, no angst, no climatic moment. It was a little dull. By the end we’re left wondering what actually happened.

The spice was pretty good and their banter was cute. I’d recommend this book to my mom, but not anyone on TikTok lest I be judged.

✿.。.:* ☆:**:. 𝐒𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐋𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮.:*☆*.:。.✿

𝐌𝐢𝐚 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐥𝐢𝐧 (h), has to move in with her Great Uncle Sam because her husband left with his girlfriend and took all her assets, so she couldn’t afford her home in Kansas. Now she’s alone with her two children, and is struggling financially. When she meets 𝐂𝐚𝐦 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬𝐨𝐧 (H), Safety for the Boston Bobcats because her son Michael hit his car with a football, she never expects to develop a intimate relationship with him. Both of them know it’s temporary because he might move to LA or Boston for career choices, and she doesn’t want anyone to know that they’re together, so they secretly commence a Saturday date to have sex. For a while, that’s all it is but eventually they start to miss each other when they can’t fulfill their Saturday date.

*•.¸♡ ★·.·´ 𝑹𝒐𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 ★·.·´¯`·.·★ ♡¸.•*

I thought the book would have been better if their relationship wasn’t a secret the entire time. The only reason anyone found out was because her son gave Cam an ultimatum, and they listened to a fourteen year old kid. She’s a mother so it was important for her to pick her children over a man, but why did she let Michael bully her and Cam for no reason. I don’t understand why Michael was so angry because his father LEFT THEM for another woman, so how was it Mia’s fault. They redeemed him when he called Cam because Josh had disappeared, but it was really shitty that he knew his mom was heartbroken and he still forced Cam out of town. I hated that the breakup was because of a kid and not something the two had against each other.

Again, I wish there relationship hadn’t felt like a fling because they didn’t go on dates unless her children were out of town. He didn’t trust his family to tell them about his relationship and she didn’t tell the friends that she had made, so we didn’t see any cute moments of them in public. I know they got married at the end, but it’s odd considering they didn’t spend much time together besides the Saturdays. Cam was basically her rebound guy who she loved more than her husband of fifteen years, and he find her intriguing because she was a challenge and played hard to get. While I love the small town aspect of them sneaking around and the tension of possibly getting caught, they really weren’t doing anything wrong considering they’re grown adults.

I love Cam’s relationship with Josh and Michael because he genuinely accepted them as part of him, in comparison to other single parent books. He made an effort to hang around them and help Mia out when she wasn’t at work, especially because he knew she was struggling. Therefore, those little moments really helped with the story and the relationship between the two.

It’s also heavy on the family dynamics which was cute, I probably would have loved this book if I read about the others first so I could have connected to all the characters. Either way, it’s pretty easy to love all of them, especially Becca who’s a ray of sunshine ☀️.

𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐥, it was a cute single mom book and I also didn’t expect it to be in third person but it actually worked. I’m not used to that writing style but it was pretty easy to follow.

This book is proof that I’m still a romance reader. After a WWII and mystery/thriller stint, I thought I’d lost my romance love and that terrifies me. Glad I still love the genre!

It was not a perfect read for me—not by any means I had so much qualms while reading jeez. But it WAS an easy read, albeit feeling endless sometimes. (So maybe not that easy?)

- I liked Mia. She was a great mom and a driven career woman.
- I liked how realistically the children were portrayed.
- I wasn’t a big Cam fan until toward the end. He didn’t have a lot of character depth and really had no personality.
- I wasn’t buying into Cam and Mia’s romance for 80% of the book. It was very surface-level. No chemistry.
- their ‘banter’ was so SO bad it made me want to punch holes in the wall. If I go in with examples I wouldn’t stop. It was just so terrible and shallow.
- I wanted to punch Micheal at the end when he started acting up so much. Was this how horrible I was as a teenager? It’s crazy how the most punishment Americans can give their kids is grounding. Try that shit over here first, you’ll see yourself.
- I think Mia’s utter lack of care concerning her ex-husband’s crappy behavior to her and their kids was unrealistic. It was kind of a cop out so it wouldn’t bring any conflict between Mia and Cam.
- The romance made more sense to me in the end and was cute.
- The scare with Josh was something that happened twice last year in my family, both with my youngest brother and my dad. It’s the worst feeling ever. This was when the book got exciting to me. Good thing Micheal came to his senses.

In the end this was a 3-3.5 star read for me!

Absolutely adorable!

“You’re not gonna let this go, are you?”
“Nope. I’m a sportsman. I never let anything go. If I want something, I go for it. And I don’t give up until I get it.”

Cam and Mia were so cute!!! I loved this book so much!

- Single Mom
- Athlete MMC
- 2 cute boys
- Small town

This was my first Carrie Elks book! Her writing was so sweet! This book was so wholesome and just a all round good read!

“I gotta warn you,” he told her, cupping her head with his palm, “I’ll probably ruin you for anybody else.”

It is written in 3rd person. I wasn't expecting it, but I ended up not minding it because the book flowed so well!

I listened to it on audible and loved it! Charlotte Claremont did a wonderful job! I've never listened to a book narrated by her. And I actually found myself hunting for more books of hers. I loved it so much! She has a beautiful accent that comes out, and it made the book even more enjoyable to read!

zero chemistry. one dimensional characters with no distinctive traits. the smut was equally bad.

The worst part of this book other than it's dialogues was the part when michael found out about them. Mia had absolutely no authority over her kids? Like she let him lash out like that and talk so disrespectfully to her? From the moment michael found out to the point where josh disappears, she had ample amount of time to sit down and make her FIFTEEN year old son understand the situation.

Wasted my time reading this.

Where have I been? I'll need to go back to book 1 now, because I thoroughly enjoyed Cam and Mia's story. I liked their characters, the setting, their story. It all flowed nicely, even the bits of drama. It was a perfect book to escape with. It's the first book I've read in a while where I felt a part of their story. A definite one click for any romance lover.

So many of the characters were so unlikable. I hated how the h let herself be pushed around by her kid.. like cmon. I almost didn’t finish but I ended forcing myself to skim towards the end to get through it.

I received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntarily, honest review of it.

‘Somebody like you’ is the fourth book in ‘The Heartbreak brothers’ series and just like the previous books in the series, I enjoyed this one very much! If you really want to, you can read this book as a standalone but I also think that it will be more entertaining if you start with the first book.

Cam is the quietest of the five Hartson’s children. He’s also the most committed to his work, that is also his big passion, football. So when he has to stop playing football before he’s ready to do that, he feels really lost. So he goes ‘home’ to his family to think about a new future and it’s there that he meets two boys and their beautiful mother Mia. And although their first meeting isn’t a good one, slowly there is something burning and growing between them.
Mia had it all until the moment that her husband left her for another woman. She lost not only her husband but also her job and her house/their home. Luckily, she and her two boys find a new home with a family member in a small town. And soon after, Mia finds a new job too. Slowly her two sons are making new friends and all three are taking little steps to be happy again. And with the help of handsome Cam, Mia is feeling very womanly and happy again. Cam is everything that a woman can ask for but Mia is very careful, not only with her heart but also with the hearts of her sons. But you can’t stop love. Neither of them expected love but they still find it but is this the right time for them or will they be forced to let love and each other go?

The story was told from both POV’s. Mia was a strong female character, of course as a mother of two children she didn’t have to lot of choice, she had to be strong to take care of them. She’s intelligent, hardworking, caring and kind. Cam was a wonderful character too, he’s also intelligent, sporty, patient, dependable and thoughtful . The relationship between Mia and Cameron was warm, playful and they were really there when the other needed them. Mia’s youngest son was adorable and cute and her oldest son was just like any teenage boy, kind one moment and moody the next. It was fun to see Cam’s family again, his brothers and their wives and his sister. Cam and Mia’s relationship may start more as a sexual one but you can really feel their emotions growing between them and I loved that. And the last part was very emotional and yes, sometimes love can hurt too. But don’t worry they get their HEA!

Cam Hartson is the last single of the four Hartson’s brothers and although I’m very happy that he too found love in this story, I’m also a bit sad that there isn’t a brother left to find love. Because I have been enjoying this series very much. It’s wonderful to see the love and loyalty between the Hartson’s children. How they love to tease each other and how protective the four brothers are of their younger sister Becca. The last book in this series will be about Becca and I can’t wait to read it!!!!!

‘Somebody Like You’ is the story of Cam Hartson. Cam has been a professional football player for almost a decade. Football is all he knows, and he loves everything about it. But unfortunately things always change and Cam is forced to make a choice about his football career. To think things through, Cam goes back to his hometown and his family. What he didn’t expect was to meet single mom Mia Devlin. Mia’s life is definitely nothing like Cam’s. Mia is recently divorced and barely getting by while taking care of her two sons. Sure Mia sees how handsome Cam is, but she isn’t looking for anything that can make her life more complicated.

From the moment I started reading ‘Somebody Like You’ I was hooked. I simple loved the two main characters Cam and Mia, and I loved how different their lives are. They seemed like a very unlikely love match. But there is some major chemistry between them. And while Cam is determined to spend time with Mia. Mia is determined to stay away from trouble and not make her life more complicated. I loved how Carrie was able to get me hooked to these characters and their story. The chemistry is flying of the pages, and I was so rooting for these two from the start.

There was enough going on in this book to make me want to keep on reading. Yes, the romance between Cam and Mia. But also the relationship between Cam and Mia’s two boys. And not to forget the decision Cam has to make about his career.

Just as in the other books in the series, I loved the small town setting. There’s just something charming about this town and it’s people. And I loved how close Cam is with his family. I also really enjoyed how we also get to read a little about the other Hartson brothers. After reading about them in the previous books, it was fun to read about them again only now through Cam’s eyes.

‘Somebody Like You’ was definitely another great read I enjoyed from beginning till end. Now there’s only one Hartson sibling left and I can’t wait to read her story. Yes.. her. The only sibling we haven’t read about is Becca Hartson, the youngest and only sister of the Hartson brothers.

2,5 estrellas ✧

As always I got totally immersed in Carrie Elk's world... wherever her characters are is where I want to live and Hartston Creek is no different. I have loved every one of the ''Heartbreak brothers" with equal passion but was excited to see what Cam would bring to the party.. well basically he just needed to bring himself..stat!!
I honestly loved that he wasn't phased by Mia having children, in fact the opposite - he wanted it all; her, her kids, the life that he never thought he would want.. away from football. His whole career and life was being taken away from him, but did he have a pity party for one..no he sucked it up and made the most of what he had... until he hadn't got her anymore.
But even then he didn't sulk, he thought enough of Mia and her situation to accept her decision.
I loved Mia, I loved her devotion to her family, but also how she came out of herself and was awakened by Cam.
A story we all want to believe, that no matter our past, or our baggage, there is always a future !!

Cam has returned home after suffering a career ending head injury. Being home is what he needs to help decide on his new path.

Single mother Mia has moved in with her uncle after a nasty separation that has left her and kids homeless and virtually penniless. She is there to pick herself up, find a job and provide for her boys. Until her boys end up crashing into Cam's life and the hot football player is faced with a feisty and passionate woman, protecting her children.

There are certainly fireworks between Cam and Mia right from the get go. However being a single mother and trying to date comes with its complications. I loved the chemistry between Mia and Cam. The way they are together is heart warming and the way that he steps when she needs him the most was just right I loved the supporting characters around them - Mia's boys and Cam's brothers and sisters.

This whole series has been emotional, but I think this book takes the cake. I have one heck of a book hangover from this one now; it took me on quite the emotional roller-coaster ride. I loved Cam and Mia together. They start out as enemies, but they prove the old saying about how the opposite of love isn’t hate. Because all that passion, all those sparks, don’t leave them on opposite sides of the battlefield. It draws them together. And what they think is going to be simple no-strings-attached fun quickly develops into so much more. They made me laugh, they even brought me to the brink of tears. (They may have pushed me over the brink, too.) I adored seeing the expanding Hartson family in action and the ending was too precious for words. Now I’m absolutely dying to get my hands on Becca’s story.

Be still my heart - this was one big swoon fest I can tell you that. This story is about second chances in life when all seems lost.

Both Cam and Mia thought that they hit rock bottom but when they meet the chemistry was too strong to turn your back on it and together they found that person who makes you complete. I adored all the side characters and they way they added the depth to the story.

After finishing this book and more than happy that I've read it because it left me with all the feels and I can't wait to read next book in the series.

For someone like me!

I got this book as a recommendation and after reading the blurb bought it. I don't expect to fall in love with the characters as they were falling in love and utterly adored Carrie's writing style. The small town feeling with the big city love was addictive. This book had all the feels and I really didn't expect the book hangover I know I'm already having! Carrie Elks has just become a one click author for me!

I just want to say that yes this is a NEW to me author and I read the previous book to this and DOSLIKED the heroine so much, I had high hopes for this one because it's Cam as the hero the twin, and again I LOVED the hero but the heroine, she was a headache to me. I really wanted to love this and I enjoy the author's writing style but these heroines are *sad sigh* I did give it a try on both, did not DNF. No ill will but just not for me.

This book is easily the cutest book I've read this year. As someone who reads ALOT of dark romance/ monster, something so cute and sweet like this is the perfect palate cleaner. I wish I would have trusted my gut and started with the first book. Even though I didn't know the other brothers from the earlier books, it was easy to be a standalone. Some interconnected series you kind of HAVE to read them all in order to really get it, but that wasn't the case here.

As someone who loves a good enemies to lovers and love all the angst, i really loved the fact that there really wasn't any angst. No read flags, no miscommunication. Nothing. Just a man falling for a woman who is trying to find herself again as a single mom of two boys~ who has only been with one man before him. Him being understanding and kind through her trying things out was beyond swoon worthy 😩

The whole time I read this, I was smiling like a fool. And it really is the perfect, happy small town read. As a mom, I appreciate the emphasise the author put on the children accepting the relationship and especially respecting it when they don't. I think that was written very well.

*I'm trying this whole reviewing thing out, so I'm sorry if it's subpare 🙃*
