The Dublin Trilogy Deluxe Part 2
Angels in The Moonlight (The Dublin Trilogy Book 3)
For Detective Bunny McGarry, life is complicated, and it is about to get more so. He’s set the task of bringing down the most skilled and ruthless armed robbery gang in Irish history. So the last thing he needs in his life is yet another complication. Her name is Simone. She is smart, funny, talented and, well, complicated.
Sisters Gonna Work It Out (Novella)
Annoying a drug baron is usually a very bad idea but it is just another day at work for the sisters of the saint. An ex-communicated order of kickass nuns, they take no prisoners but they might just free a few.
How To Send A Message (Short Story)
Bunny McGarry is the kind of man who is inclined to take it personally when someone tries to threaten his life. Two gangland thugs find out to their cost that if you’re going up the meanest copper in Dublin, you’d better be prepared for a truly unforgettable experience.
Last Orders (The Dublin Trilogy Book 4)
As a wise man once said, just because you're done with the past, doesn't mean the past is done with you. When long-buried bodies are discovered in the Wicklow Mountains, Bunny's past starts closing in on him. Who can he trust when he can't even trust himself? When he’s got nowhere left to run and nobody he can turn to, will the big fella make the ultimate sacrifice to protect the ones he loves?
Please All of the novels and short stories have been previously available to readers separately.
Irishman Caimh McDonnell is a former professional stand-up comedian and TV writer who now concentrates all of his energies on his books. Born in Limerick and raised in Dublin, he has taken the hop across the water and calls Manchester his home.
His TV writing work has seen him work on some of the biggest topical comedy shows on British TV and has earned him a BAFTA nomination. These days he can be found happily writing his next book in the office in the back garden, with only his dog and his imagination for company.
His book 'I Have Sinned' was shortlisted for the Kindle Storyteller Award 2019. Previously, his debut novel 'A Man With One of Those Faces' was nominated for best novel at the 2017 CAP awards.
Another one-day read - all 808 pages. Mr. McDonnell is a brilliant author. There isn't an emotion he doesn't cover, a character that isn't interesting or a plot twist that doesn't catch you off guard. You will laugh out loud at his humour, and catch your breath when his characters get into trouble. If you stop long enough to grab a bite to eat or head to the washroom, you hurry back to lose yourself in this amazing series. When you reach the last page and put the book down, your brain doesn't shut down. His characters, setting (Ireland), humour, insight and gift of writing will stay with you long after you close the cover.
I have now read through both of Caimh McDonnel’s “trilogies” in the space of four days, and I can say I have not spent more productive time in quite a while. I found this great series through Kindle Unlimited, (a fine way to find great books for very little money - not a small thing when you’re older and on a fixed income), and what a GREAT find!
I was hooked by the first book in his first trilogy set, A Man with One of Those Faces. It was the funniest, serious crime stories I had ever read. I kept on because I liked what I read. Some of the books were gorier than I would have liked, but the characters always drew me back. If you can’t love Bunny, then you’re not human.
Now having finished the second trilogy, I will say that Last Orders is one of the best character studies I have ever come across in crime fiction, and coming from a retired English professor, that is no small statement. I know you hate to hear this but if you don’t read them in the order Caimh recommends, you will be be missing out on one of the best rides on which an author can take you.
Before you pick up this trilogy, read the first. No questions asked, you will not regret it. When I read the prologue of the last book, I almost gave up on the series, but I had to read on. I had become an addict. Thank heaven I stuck with it. The ending was wonderful. It restores your faith in justice and humanity.
I cannot recommend this series more highly. (It helps if you read it in the best Irish accent you can muster.) Unforgettable characters, intricate plots, action and laugh out loud comedy - what’s not to like?
The Bunny McGarry books were an AMAZING find! They have heart, a truly engaging hero (or is he an antihero?), a fully-realized world, and amazing humor!
This part of the "Trilogy" explored a little more of the darkness than the previous installment, but ends on a truly uplifting note.
And the mini-adventure of the Sisters of The Saint was what elevated this up to 5 star status! I want more of them! Sister Bernadette is zooming into my top-ten list of best female characters of all time (along with Granny Weatherwax, of course!)
Oh my, I was in tears at the funeral. I have throughly enjoyed (?) these 2 deluxe trilogies. Not sure if enjoyed is the correct word, but it will have to do. Haven’t been to Ireland in 45 years, and hadn’t missed it till now. Hearing the accents and the natural good humor or the Irish was refreshing. Haven’t read so much swearing, cursing and verbal filth in my life! These stories are truly funny, even, laugh out loud funny. And touching and loving. Great!
Good plots, great characters and even better narrative in another solid set of books from Caihm McDonnell. Ill be reading much more from this author and again hope to meet him and Bunny in a pub one day for a chat with old friends. Slainte!
if you’re going to read this trilogy make sure your diary is clear.
You won’t be able to put the series down. A great read both funny and sad. I had tears in my eyes and laughed out loud. All the characters you want to follow. Thank you for this opportunity to see how funny the Irish can be.
This is a good read when combined with part one which I believe should be read first for the background setup. The humor is awesome and that makes it a fast fun read.I look forward to reading more of this authors work.
If you're looking for snark, epithets you can add to your verbal armory, mayhem and murder, I absolutely wholeheartedly recommend you read this series. It's entertaining from start to finish
Another four part trilogy. Engaging, exciting and endlessly funny. Bunny Mcgarry is a wonderful character, infuriatingly stubborn but also determined always to do the right thing. Recommend for fans of Jodi Taylor, Jasper Fforde and Ben Aaronovitch.
Unusually really did not want this book to end. If I was able to read one book forever I would choose the nineteen books of The Dublin Trilogy many thanks Caimh (how do you pronounce that) one of the best reads of my almost grown up life. Thank you.
Caimh Always gives a great read and some good chuckles
I've not a pinch of Irish (but I've not done the DNA thing so who knows) regardless I want a Guinness and a few Irish lads in the next booth so I can listen in. Bunny is a genuine good man .
