Frontlines: Finding My Voice on an American College Campus

Rate this book
A shocking and honest account of the culture war at American universities, giving you a front-row seat to campus indoctrination.

As a biomedical sciences student, Isabel Brown never anticipated finding herself immersed in a world of leftism, silenced by the thought police, and afraid to speak up for conservative values, but this is the reality that defined her college experience.

Isabel's story is a compelling memoir about the current state of affairs on America's college campuses-unveiling the truth that university administrators don't want you to hear-and a reminder of the need for true ideological diversity.

Frontlines: Finding My Voice on an American College Campus is a call to action for us all to boldly fight for the future of American culture on and off campus.

Nothing but an unsourced book from the tinfoil hat people. She doesn't verify any of her sources. Hiding that she doesn't research behind "it's an opinion." Kinda what's wrong with the world today.

Kinda like how she's attacking female film makers currently for speaking out about domestic violence. Wild. Wild time we live in.

I read it because "know your enemy" but if they are gonna spew information without facts or sourcing I think we're fine.

Important Read For Conservatives of all ages!

What a great look at the reality of the leftist indoctrination at American colelges and what we can do to combat it. I related to this so much, I know students entering college will benefit so much from reading this (as well as their parents)!

5 stars always

Decided to give this one a reread as I started another academic year.

I think it's important to first say this: It doesn't matter what side of the political aisle you are on to read this book. In fact, if you aren't conservative, that's all the more reason to! I really mean it. Pick it up with an open mind and learn what it's like for the other side. You might just find another human being.

Sadly, many of the issues she covers in her book aren't new to me. I have heard the comments from teachers, the whispers among friends who know of family who were forced to deal with biased grading or just with complying out of fear for their grades. Let's face it - I've complied out of fear for my grade or people's surface level impression of me. Since high school! It felt like small compromises: I would let them see the answer they were looking for, say or write the one they wanted. Contribute the "right" opinions to the activity or discussion. But it's not a compromise if you end up muting yourself in the process. The campus environment truly doesn't tolerate the conservative. It makes you feel alone.

That's why Frontlines was so refreshing and why I am seeking its contents for a second time as I am starting classes again. She went through it too.

If you are facing the overwhelming and isolating affects of group-think on your campus this year, you will definitely find the message you needed someone to say to you in this book. Keep your chin up, stay rooted in your values, and find your voice. It's a culture war out there.

For me, there is no other way to rate this book. It was everything I was looking for and more.

For a long time, I always knew I was conservative but thought maybe not to the caliber that my parents were since I didn't find myself always agreeing with what they thought. My siblings and I frequently grew up with the exclamations of conservative radio hosts, resulting in my being able to recite the intro to one by heart as it starts. I was hesitant towards their obsessiveness with politics - I didn't really understand it. Until the 2020 election.

The election left me confused, shocked, and I could even say angry but it was mostly frustration. I couldn't understand how everything ended how it did. I still can't to be honest. And after seeing accounts I follow have elated reactions and posts dedicated to the results, I thought I was alone. The echo chamber across the social media art community was an intense vacuum. So I decided that things couldn't necessarily get worse and that nothing crazy would happen.

But they did! The accounts with similar views to mine that I somehow managed to find and follow started to become difficult to find after not showing up on my feed. I had to search in a round-about way to find them and view their posts. While I wasn't being directly targeted by social media cancel culture, accounts I followed were and it was disheartening. And it continues to happen daily.

During that time, I debated dropping social media or searching for more conservative accounts to balance the obliviousness of others that I followed. That's when I stumbled upon Turning Point USA, and with it, Poplitics with Alex Clark and Freedom Seeds with Isabel Brown. Then later on, PragerU and the Candace Owens Show. And for each, I'm entirely grateful. One day while watching a Poplitics episode, Alex Clark mentioned that her friends new book was out and available for ordering on Amazon. It didn't take me too long to order a paperback copy (I love hardcover, but, hey, I'm a college student) and sit down to read it.

It has completely blown my mind. While some of the topics were things I knew already, Isabel brought even harder and more direct evidence against the very things that campus indoctrination fights for. Her visit to Cuba broke my heart, the threats she experienced at the age of 20 brought me directly into her shoes, and her successes made me wonder how I could make an impact at my own college.

Apparently, when a brave student tried to start a TPUSA chapter at my college, the student government voted against it. After some heated follow up, the administration was forced to overturn that vote. But that was back in 2017 and today, when searching for it, there was no such group to be found when sifting through my university's website or TPUSA's chapter map. Having read Isabel's story, I not only feel obligated to ask why but also to encourage fellow students to realize that a lack diversity of thought not only hinders their abilities and skills, but also harms them.

I connected to Isabel in so many ways. While I didn't experience everything she did, I have had something similar in science, religion, and english courses. What is crazy about that is I never took the time to think about how strange and exclusive it was to be on a campus where I automatically stifled my views. And this was because I had already had to face the same in high school, just on a less-intense scale. This is something universities and public schools alike should be ashamed of.

Thankfully, since entering the business field for my major, I haven't experienced as much obvious, outright leftism. Instead, I've found a sanctuary in my accounting and economics classes from the hostility towards capitalism and it's success. However, I don't think I can say the same for my peers in other majors, and this is a severe problem.

I highly encourage other conservatives to read this. I encourage left-leaning citizens to read it as well, a suggestion I hope they take with an open mind. More importantly, I encourage anyone of all ages to read this because it is a serious issue that every parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, or sibling should know has happened, is happening, and may always happen unless we hold universities accountable. Her story is the conservative college experience: be silent or be targeted. We need to be there for the conservative college students who experience this daily.

Thank you for your words, Isabel. I hope that they are read by many!

My good friend actually wrote this book! Isabel is a truth seeker and I always appreciate her willingness to speak up. I never had the traditional 4 year university experience and upon reading this book I had no idea how bad the far left agenda is being pushed in American colleges today. This book makes me want to pursue truth and work hard in the frontlines. I highly recommend this book. If you don’t know who Isabel Brown is, I encourage you to look up her various social media channels as she provides the best content in the game today. Cheers

I found her accounts on what happens on college campuses to be truly shocking. However, given that it is mirroring what is happening in our nation I guess I shouldn't be shocked. I would definitely recommend for anyone, conservative or not, to read, especially young adults going into college. While it is so disheartening that college professors can seemingly say and do what they please, Isabel's antidote is especially important in our current time- encourage and facilitate conversations about religion/politics/beliefs at home! I look forward to following and hearing more from Isabel in the future!

I told Isabel I would read her book yesterday on her locals Community on May 8. I began reading the book yesterday evening and decided to put aside a beartown to read her book. I had said that it would take 24 to 48 hours after reading Beartown… however, I was too intrigued, so I started yesterday, and throughout the night and yesterday evening into this morning, May 9, I finished the book. I know what a wacky review I want to do to explain why I dropped everything. Now that I have let me explain why. First of all, thank you, Isabel, for taking the time to write the book regardless of the fallout you may have gotten. You speak your mind no matter what. That's what I like. Reading this book has taught me that I am, for the most part, conservative. Why? I believe in what the Bible says. Am I a strict Christian? No, I am not. I will not force you to feel the way I do. I think everybody has a right to their own opinion. So, therefore, I want to cover one thing in this book. I don't want to hide it as a spoiler alert, so I won't. The document her colleagues came up with as acceptable and not acceptable was ridiculous to me, just like she thought. I am disabled; I am a quadriplegic. I am Born with cerebral palsy. I am handicapped now.
Society wants to change how you can speak about different people. My opinion about what is acceptable to call myself differs from society's. I have no problem with being handicapped or disabled. The word I have a problem with is a retard. We live in a society so bent out of shape I know that, ethically, it's wrong to call somebody using a derogatory name. Therefore I do not, or I should rather say I try not to. We have to fight for what we believe in, and what I think is a country that is excepting of anybody's differences centered around Biblical principles. How do we do that? We do what she did speak your mind. For years I have wanted to write a book about my life; hopefully, I dare to do it one day. Do I care what people think based on my circumstances alone or my looks? Why do I put this in this review? Simple, it fits with some of the topics she talked about. She may be young she's trying to change the world to a perspective that this country was founded on. If you take that away from us as Americans, how do you expect us to keep it in our currency? What do I mean? The dollar bill on the back says, in God, we trust. Do we take that away? I'm asking these questions in this review to make you think before you read this book. So many times, we are so afraid of what we say. Sometimes you must be frightened. When you read or review this book, look at it from an Open perspective.

This was a phenomenal read! I watch Isabel's live streams every weekday, and she is a trailblazer in being a clear and concise voice for the Gen Z movement and spreading the truth, and this book is exactly that, detailing out her college experience at Colorado State University and her roots in conservative activism, from starting a Turning Point USA chapter to going to work for PragerU.

The thing that impressed me most about this book was how much detail Isabel went into about the indoctrination she experienced while at CSU, from how her professors openly attacked those who openly expressed their values (a constitutional right we have as Americans) and were Trump supporters to how the university administration tried to outlaw certain words/phrases that they deemed "offensive" and not "inclusive". The latter was my favorite part of the book overall because it just shows how crazy our world has gotten and how desperate of a return to our roots as Americans we desperately need.

Other aspects of the book I enjoyed were her boldness to keep fighting for what she believed in even when it wasn't easy and her inspiring last chapter with what was probably my favorite quote from the book, "After graduating, I discovered that the battle for liberty graduated with me." That hits home with me with the dangers our society currently faces from those who want to outright change what makes America great. Go give it a read; you won't be disappointed! Also come join the Locals fam and watch her streams; they air Monday-Friday at 3 PM Eastern Time. Here's a link: https://isabelbrown.locals.com/

As someone currently in college I recommend this to any high schooler thinking about their next step! College is NOT the only option!!! Parents! You should also read this if it’s been a while since you’ve been enrolled in college courses! College in America has changed!! I am very thankful to go to a fairly conservative public university, but I can sympathize with Isabel’s experiences as I am in a liberal arts major with my uni’s Honors college — full of diversity yet lacking diversity of thought, something Isabel focuses on in this book. I would have loved to see some application points in this book—specific action steps I could apply today.

This book was incredible! Definitely in my top favorite books! I loved it because Isabel Brown is currently only 25 years old so I felt like it was really relatable especially since the whole book talks about her college years. It was super inspiring and very encouraging. Even though my views align with hers I feel like anyone could read it and get something out of it because it is very factual. 100% would read again and definitely recommend.

I don't use the term "must-read" lightly, but I would deem this book one, whether you're going to college or the parent, grandparent, or concerned family member of a college student. Without ever sinking to the level of her opponents, Isabel Brown gives countless examples of how civil discussion, intellectual rigor, and basic decency faces extinction in our so-called institutes of "higher learning."

In Frontlines we hear the story of Isabel Brown and how colleges push/encourage liberal ideology on students. She also talks about Turning Point USA 🇺🇸, how it help her and other conservative students stand up for their values and beliefs. Would recommend to young conservatives who will be/plan to/are attending college. Amazing job Isabel, big fan! Can't wait to see what your future holds. 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲

Wow. This really exposes the craziness happening on college campuses across America. It's honestly appalling. This definitely aided me in my college search and I'd recommend it to anyone who is in college or looking at colleges. Or even if you just want to be aware of what is happening on college campuses.

I found this an intriguing glimpse into the struggles faced by countless conservative students in an increasingly one-sided university system. I would definitely recommend this well-written book to anyone who is in college, going to be in college, or is simply interested in the topic.

Great book

Isabel does a great job motivating students, parents, and conservatives in general to stop bowing down to the mob and start pushing back against the overwhelming narratives of leftism. Every parent considering sending a child to college should read this book.
