In this second installment of the Scottish Crime Family series we’re introduced to Brody and Justice. Their story is one that I found truly endearing. Brody MacKenzie, who is all for his clan and nothing else didn’t expect Justice Flowers to come and upturn his world with all of her curves.
Justice Flowers, a woman who loved unconditionally was left in an uncomfortable position until Brody came along and offered to help (surprising, right?!)

This author wrote a tale of two people who are the total opposite of each other , who came to love and adore one another after creating that perfect balance for each other.
It was amazing to see how Broody Brody changed into a “nugget” lol and Justice was finally able to find a man that appreciated her for her.
With Justice in Brody’s life, she’s apart of Clan MacKenzie now and one thing about that clan is the that the love, support, togetherness and loyalty is something beautiful to behold and that’s just what Justice need in her life.

One thing I really admire about this author’s work is that there are always hints of previous books within the current one you’re reading.
This book flowed flawlessly from the beginning to the end, the sex scenes are off the chart hot and the emotions within the book are palpable.

Ms Avant wrote another hands down 5 star worthy book, now I’m beyond excited to read the other two upcoming books within this series.

There is nothing like a Hot Scot!!! Lawdamercy! Brody was a foul mouthed, rude, yet funny Alpha who only wanted one thing from women. He met his match with the sassy, strong willed plus size diva Justice.

These two were sexy and funny and meant to be together. I loved the witty banter between the characters. Laughing out loud is really a thing when reading this book.

I both read and listened to the audiobook on this one. It made the experience so much better. The Scottish accent was sexy and made Brody more endearing. Since this in book two in the series, it is advisable to read the books in order, but not absolutely necessary. I enjoyed revisiting the entire clan.

Amarie spins a wonderful tale of love, intrigue and of course mafia fun. The sex scenes are hot and ready, just like Justice and Brody. I am looking forward to reading Camden’s story!!!

Fell a Bit Short for Me

*****Spoilers*****

The story was interesting enough but the dialogue really kills this one for me. Along with much of the story that left me scratching my head and the lack of description, I thought that much of it wasn't all that believable. I loved the accent that came across when reading from Brody's perspective but there wasn't enough explained, like what certain words meant in regular plan ole English. That wouldn't have been so bad on its own, but then when reading the words he and Justice exchange, I don't know what the heck happened. Like how out of the conversation I'd read that they went from almost being intimate to Justice storming off. I read the words on the page but was baffled. The confusion this caused me wasn't due to a failure to get culturally different speech patterns and references but because the dialogue, like the story at times, jumps from A to C without carrying me there with words or impression. I thought the emotions were often lacking or didn't really add up and Justice's resistance to Brody's insistent, filthy mouthed propositions lasted like a day. Not a negative the filthy mouth but rolled my eyes at how Justice said she wasn't "easy" when the sentiment didn't outlast the flavor on fruit stripe gum.

Brody's family is wild, or perhaps better described, crazy. Off just a little bit and hard to understand in the context of family that I'm used to and used to reading about. Again, not a negative but more different. I liked them for the most part even when left puzzled over some things here and there. The family violence wasn't an issue for me but wasn't quite buying the mafia theme or their tough personas.

The absolute worst thing about this book though to me is that I really want to read Leith's and Chevelle's story but given as how I couldn't appreciate the writing in this book, I can't bring myself to pick up another one. And I'm often iffy at best when it comes to reading the stories of other characters in a series.

3.00 Stars. (BW/WM). An Audible audiobook read masterfully by JT Farrell but not so well by Trei Taylor. This book follows the romance between Brody MacKenzie and Justine Flowers and follows the MacKenzie Clan's business operations. Brody is the eldest of the 6 MacKenzie brothers and is drives a truck for the family's trucking operation and like Leith, Brody is also an enforcer for the Clan. Brody is a dirty sex talking love-em and leave-em fun loving likable alpha male who becomes enamored by Justice Flowers best friend of Chevelle. Justice also brings dangerous and unwanted danger to via her cheating criminal ex-beau. I did not like this character and could not root for her being with Brody. justice is a size 16 which isn't fat for a young active tall woman. Her size is not an issue; but, her internal dialogue is tiresome as is the dialogue between her and Brody...Brody is humorous while Justice is distrusting, insecure, needy, clingy and tiresome. Their relationship comes to a happy place by the end of the story.

What a ride

I’ve never wanted to throat punch and submit to someone like Brody so bad in my entire life! This story was a whole roller coaster that I wished didn’t end. This was good. So good. So very good.

"Take A Bullet For You" by Amarie Avant

My Opinion:

'Take A Bullet For You' was another series: MacKenzie Crime Family Book 2 that featured Brody and Justice and was a standalone Scottish BWWM Romance.

What will happen when two clans...The Mackenzie's and McFarland's crash together? What will come out of that situation? 'Take A Bullet For You' was quite a story where it looks like Brody is to marry Erika from the McFarland clan. Why did Brody have to go to Scotland, and what clan business did he have to attend?

What will happen when Brody sets his eyes on Justice Flowers? Now that will be a good story!
What kind of trouble was Justice involved in that she needed protection from Brody? What was up with Brody's beard?

What will happen when Justice finds out that Brody MacKenzie paid her debt?

Well, what's left is how these two come together, and it will be quite a steamy ride.
I enjoyed the poem Brody has for Justice: Mended: I didn't want to love you, You were everything I feared But exactly what I need...

I know this review is a little strange...because I don't want to give too much away. You will have to pick up 'Take A Bullet For You' to see how well the author delivers it to the readers and answer all the above questions. I will say there were characters all over the place from brothers...to other clansmen and family members that will keep you having to keep up with who is who. But all of the characters were well-developed and so very interesting that they kept the story flowing. Oh, I don't want to leave out all of the banterings that go in this beautiful read!

In the end, this was some Scottish crime family story that will keep you turning the pages till the future as we get Brody and Justices' love story. The reader will get two extended epilogues. Meeting Justice's parents were quite funny. I enjoyed both, so it was hard selecting which particular one I liked most. I can't wait to listen to this story on audio!

What's next? The author will give us another series featuring Camdyn's story in 'Bad For You.'

Very much in love with these two

This is one book that will have you craving to read more character of this series.

I really enjoy reading Brody and Justice book. There book gives you more screens on the rest of the family. As well as some secrets about the family that you didn't know from the first book.

Even though it's mention in the first book why Brody doesn't exactly like his sis in law. To read from his point of view really made it more in depth how he felt about her. It wasn't that he really did care for her, but more so about the fact that he truly felt like she stole his brother from him. Reading and understanding this has made me see that he's not really a big A-hole. But that he actually does care about his family.

Justice really is a female that will not play second best. Justice has been through a whole lot. So much so that you can appreciate how the author put her and Brody together. She really is the good he needed in his life, even though he didn't see it at first.

What I love and appericate the most is how deep the MacKenzie loves and how Loyal they're. I am very curious about what's going on with Cam ( Brody 2nd younger brother ). I can't wait to read his book. As well as ready Keo... cannot remember his name but his cousin book.

This series is so good, that I'm rushing my review so thst I can go read Cam's book. I Highly recommend anyone who wants to read something funny, hot, and excellent.
If you do choose to read this book make sure u read book 1 if you haven't. Enjoy ❤

What in the Struggle luv is going on here😒

If you can get past the Irish accent & figure out what Brody is saying then you run into his disgusting treatment of the heroin Justice. I wanted to get excited about this author writing her as a bbw, but then she gets to be the one that his family insults and he uses as a sexualized fetish. Brody comes off as a typical womanizer who sexes everybody, so his behavior isn't shocking. Justice is written as a strong woman that speaks her mind. But she reads as gullible and pathetic. Where is a good description of her besides her stretch marks and big stomach???? Why is it ok for the fat girl jokes to be thrown at her with NOBODY getting checked...even the little bratty little girl in the story? Justice "puts her foot down" but caves for sex every time, even though he constantly tells sis...I got nothing for you, mind you he's clear from the beginning and consistently tells her the same thing???? Come on Amarie, do her better than a dumb hopeful big girl that will take any man who shows her attention! Its insulting. I got excited that you wrote in some cultural context to her desires and what she expected but then you still had her out here being clowned😒. I had to finish the book just to be fair. But it never improved, just disappointing. I keep trying with this author becuz its either a hit or a BIG miss for me. Its a big miss, borderline insulting and offensive for me

Brody Gets His Justice!!!

In this second instalment of the Mackenzie Clan we get Brody’s story along with Justice’s. I’m so happy we finally get to find out more about Justice and what’s been going on with her. We first met Justice in Amarie’s book Addicted To Santino, so if you haven’t yet please give that book a read, it’s a great holiday book. This story starts off right after the exciting events that occur at the end of book 1 of Leith and Chevelle’s book. We get introduced to a few more characters and learn a whole bunch more about Ewans announcement. This book really opens up more about both Brody and Justice. I loved going through and experiencing the significant journey that both go through and all the changes that happened with them. I really loved seeing Justice prevailing metaphorically and figuratively speaking, eccentric pun intended. If you love tough alpha Scottish speaking guys then this book is definitely for you. Give it a read, please read book 1 first as well. Highly recommended!!!

Better than Expected

I hesitated about reading this book. I attempted to read the first book of the series and belled after a few pages. I love the author, and she writes great things. However, I find that I'm not a fan of the Scottish Irish dialect. I pushed through this time.
Brody was worth my sacrifice. Brody should have been nicknamed Blaunt bold Brody. Everything he did was big and in your face. What I liked about him is that he did not become a pillow after finding Justice. He was still bold and in your face but with a little more style.
Justice was adorable and strong despite her situation. She did not allow Brody to just run into life and take over. She set ground rules and then forced Brody to adhere to them.
The one thing I didn't like was that the description of Justice did not match or even come close to the image on the cover. I know you can't judge a book by its cover. The cover didn't do Justice any JUSTICE!!!!!
Regardless, the story was great. I loved it. I loved the ending. I was able to get past the dialect and fall in love with Brody and Justice's story.
Read it for yourself to see if you agree.
Happy Reading! :)

Fun, witty, romantic!

Justice has a complicated past mixed up in owing money for a deceased lover who broke her heart. Brody is a bad boy, a MacKenzie and has his sights set on Justice as his next conquest. The two flirt but really it can never become everlasting love. Amarie finds a way!! I love the background stories for these two lovers, their broken violent pasts somehow bind them together. It's not an easy or even safe path but they find their way to each other for their happily ever after. I enjoyed the intimate moments between Justice (playful yet guarded) and Brody (total brute and elusive), I was really rooting for their love to shine. Such a fun, great read with a good amount of thrills and action involving the MacKenzie clan, Gaelic and Hood bantar, extremely hot romance and that Cam!! He's another bad boy in the clan that's going to be fun following!!!

Exciting from start to finish

This is the second book in this series, we meet both Brody and Justice in book one. I liked the story, it had me hooked from the first page, I can’t wait to read more.

Don’t be deceived by the cover, I have no idea why a plus size women wouldn’t be the cover model, seeing that Justices, “abundant cures” are described and talked about, she is even called fat, she wears a size 18. This is just my personal opinion, if your going to put ppl on the cover then they need to at least resemble the characters in the story. And the ugly nose ring, ugh, Justice don’t even have one. The cover is so weird to me after reading the book, but I don’t hold that against the author at all but I hope next time, pick ppl that fit the description of the characters, got my imagination all messed up..

Brody Mackenzie is a ladies man who isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty defending his family.

Justice Flowers is her own person with her own problems and she takes care of herself until she can’t and Brody steps in despite her objections.

Brody is smitten with Justice, but she knows better than to get herself entangled with him. Brody has different plans and refuses to take no for an answer. He wants Justice and has decided he’s going to have her.

When Justice’s past catches up with her and Brody’s family is in danger from one of their enemies it will test their true feelings for each other.

This was an interesting read. Decent characters and plot, but sentence phrasing was awkward and detracted from an otherwise good story.

Now who wouldn't want a man to jump in front of a bullet for us ladies? Sign me up. Well let me tell you something. This book hit a sweet spot. It has enough emotion to draw you in and the sex is hot enough to start a five alarm fire. So this is a extension of the McKenzie family which is Brody and Justice's story. Brody settles a debt for Justice and then proceeds to lay claim on it and Justice is resisting. Amarie Avant delivered yet another pulse pounding, page turning, romantic, and sensual read. It's told in different points of view, no cheating, no cliffhangers, and a hea. I highly recommend you one click this deliciousness. You won't regret it.

MacKenzie’s do it again!

Brody MacKenzie is an arrogant, sexy, womanizing stone cold killer. Set in his ways with no change in sight until he encounters Justice Flowers. Justice is a sweet, beautiful, and self confident woman with a pure heart. With demons to be slayed and debts to be paid she takes a chance on Brody after he agrees to help. Each feeling a chemistry they can’t explain, and an itch that only the other can scratch. We follow Brody and Justice as they navigate lost loves, clan feuds, and family loyalty. You learn once you are claimed by a Mackenzie it’s your clan for life.

Love this book!!!

I love this book . Brody and Justice are so freaking hot together. Brody is his own man , which makes him an even hotter commodity. Justice didn't stand a chance when it came to him. His family is awesome and scary at the same time. I love Mia shes mischievous. I'm glad their story included Chevelle and Leith. I think all of the brothers and Erika need their own story. Justice was heartbroken over someone who didn't deserve a second thought from her. She used her feelings over a dead love to keep her from having a new love with Brody. He wasn't taking no for an answer. I'm totally gone over " the Surgeon".

Love takes Brody by surprise, Broody Brody loves Only his family/clan and his beard, yes I said what I said: his beard. lol
He wanted Justice, like no others... he hits it and quits it. He is not shy about it either, he lets you know before hand. But with justice, it was a different story, he couldn’t get enough and it took him a while to understand what it was... Love!!!
The Mackenzies are interesting people that you cannot have enough of. If you don’t believe find out for yourself.

Now, I guess justice has to wait for a “hunner” years to get her wee bairn and hopefully a wedding. 😂

No Bullets Necessary!

Amarie books get five stars just because they were written by Amarie! This author never disappoints! Justice and bad boy Brody had a rocky start. Warned by her best friend Chevelle that her brother-in-law was bad news, Justice tried to steer clear, even though Brody made no secret of the things he would like to do to Justice. When her past comes back to haunt her, however, it's Brody who comes to her rescue! Caught the reference to "Black Queen, White Knight!" Loved that story, also!

Brody and Justice

This was a great book. I think Justice brings out the best in Brody. He's not the relationship type but when he and Justice cross paths he'd stop at nothing to have her. When he finally gets her he never wants to let go. All Justice wants is to be put first in someone's life. Even tho it doesn't seem like it Brody has put her first from the start. I'm glad she finally stopped running and gave Brody a real chance. I can't wait to read Cam's story. I believe the American is just like his big brother Brody. 💛💛

Spectacular!!

This was such an enjoyable story of love found in two people afraid to trust. The writer brings to life these two characters in such a way that you get to experience the emotions. I love that we get a hero that struggled with the fact that he's in love and wants to be loved and he's found the perfect one.Now.I will tell you that Justice a time or two got on my nerves. But sister girl comes through. This is not only a fun read but it has so much more to offer. The next addition promises to be the same.

Justice Saved This Book...

I got this book from KU the day it was released. I just now finished it and I had to force myself to do so. This was a tedious read and really didn't pick up steam until the last 1/3 of the book. Brody didn't have any real depth and the back and forth between him and Justice got old really fast.
The sole reason I gave 3 stars instead of two, is because the author had the guts to write Justice as a dark skin, unambiguously Black woman. Justice was a refreshing character, realistically portrayed and a joy to read.

Better than the first

I gave this book a 5 star rating because it was far better than the previous one. Not only that, I felt more emotionally connected to the characters- great character development. Brody's and Justice gave me life, laughter and pain. What also made this book real was when Justice took off her shapewear. That's what real women wear and I am glad to see it finally written in. All in all, I wasn't sure if I wanted to read this book after the first novel but I'm so glad I did. Well worth it

The Surgeon and the Bonny Lassy

I liked this one better than die for you to be honest. All that book did was make me want to know more about Broody Brody.
In this book Brody was a nasty beast with his dirty mouth but at times he made me chuckle. He was a killer, psycho , man whore, cocky, loyal, and family/clan was always first. Reading his fall from his never fall in love in a “hunner years” platform was totally worth the read. Justice needed nasty, sexy, crazy, protective, broody, Brody.

Mesmerizing

I could not stop reading about the latest MacKenzie brother. Lil Brody’s character my favorite. He is so chauvinistic. He is super sexy and the fact that I wished I had a partner that talked to me like he spoke to Justice. I loved how he fought himself to stay the way he is. Justice showed him he can be a better person for her in terms of a relationship. Justice accepted Lil Brody as he is. I really love the MacKenzie family. Definitely looking forward to Camdyn and Justice and story. Thanks so much Amarie.

This Clan just keep you coming back for your fill. Book One- (Leith and Chevelle) blow me away, but Book Two - (Brody and Justice) left me wanting more. I just know book three will have me losing my mind. Brody and Justice had me rolling with all of their back and forward mess. Lol!!! This series is a good one, I hope it comes out in a hardback box set. Would love to buy the set.
