"That's my bunny!" "NO, that's my bunny!" Oh dear. How difficult it is to share when there's only ONE beloved Funny Bunny. Luckily for twins, Fifi and Frankie, Granny is on hand to show them a way to play together nicely that keeps everyone, including Funny Bunny, happy.
Rachel is a writer of words, drawer of pictures and champion of silver linings. She exhibits widely, writes tirelessly and frequently creates slightly unhinged characters.
Her written work includes children’s stories and poems, clever advertising copy and lots of other stuff besides. Her illustrative work is a smorgasboard of giant, hand-printed poems, mind-bogglingly detailed gouache illustrations and a cacophony of quirky prints and etchings.
She explores the lovliness of words and the magic of pictures, revelling in a world of jam-eating miniature bears and other made-up animals.
Her work aims to capture a free way of thinking - one which makes you feel anything is possible, a feeling all too easily lost with the end of childhood. When we’re all grown-up, sometimes we just need a little nudge to remember it’s been there all along.
*Rachel has also been an air hostess, a garden designer and a lifeguard. She often runs a really long way and was once invited to the selection of the British ultra running team. She also once won a date with Man of the millennium and has been trying to live it down ever since.
A pretty decent book about sharing and twins. I felt terribly sorry for the book though, it seems someone had the same problem as the twins had, the book's pages were all loose. I guess I will have to let the library know the next time I bring it back. My boyfriend and I agreed that the name Fifi for a kid is a bit... well, weird. That is a dog's name. The ending of the book was cute though, I was happy with the solution.
I really liked that this book shares the message of sharing. The twins had different taste in things but shared their love for the bunny. However, I liked that at the end they agreed on how they could both have bunny, and it goes to show that sharing is hard for children. However, it is not impossible and we can use our words and thinking skills to come to an agreement.
I really enjoyed this book as I found myself predicting what would happen and reacting to the story. The book is based on twins who's personality is shown through the illustrations through the use of colour and line. Most of the book is mainly pink or blue depending on the twins. The words stand out on some pages due to the font which draws the readers attention to this such as how the characters are feeling. The twins both want the same toy and there is only one. The illustrations take up double pages on some pages which immerses the reader into what is happening. On some pages the twins appear multiple times which could show a lack of control in wanting the toy. The book is good to use in EYFS to show them the concept of sharing.
This is about two twins learning to share with their toy bunny. The twins have to come to an agreement where they can each have the bunny three days a week. There is one day left over which is on Sunday's where they share the bunny. They claim this is the best day of the week! The poor bunny is all stitched up with patches at the end after all the fighting over it. The theme of sharing and why it is important runs throughout the book.
A cleverly written book with plenty of illustrations. The first two double pages alone are packed with detail and I think children would enjoy looking at the pictures and comparing the twins. The twins struggle with sharing like a lot of children and this book walks us through the importance of working together to share, to make sure everyone is happy! Very sweet.
I love the pages in the book where bunny is about to break. The colours are bright and the use of space is so effective that it makes you think bunny is about to fly out of the book.
