AirB&D #1

Daddy's Sunshine

Rate this book
Welcome to the AirB&D! We hope you enjoy your stay.

James Lawrey is a CEO with plenty of cred in corporate circles and plenty of cash to go with it. Privately, though, he’s learned the hard way that it might be impossible to find the one thing he can’t buy--a young man to look after who wants and needs a real Daddy, not just a sugar daddy.

Textile artist Rye Henry’s last relationship went up in flames when his ex told him it was time to grow up. Rye’s got a lucrative business of his own, so he needs a lover who isn’t going to try to change him, a Daddy who wants his true devotion.

Both men drop a pretty penny to experience a few days at the AirB&D, a swanky vacation home in Maine, for a fantasy that’s exactly what they’re looking for. Even if it only lasts one weekend.

But could they get more than their money’s worth?

Of course. Just leave it to the matchmaker.

I’m generally not into Daddy kink, but the premise of this series seemed interesting, so I gave it a go.

Unfortunately, I disliked this book, though not for reasons I was expecting.

Almost 10% of this book is baking & eating muffins. Muffins are mentioned 14x, cock is mentioned 18x. In a series titled AirB&D, I expected more sex, less baking. More caretaking, less talk about favourite foods. It felt like wasted potential.

The dialogue was also very unnatural, and would jump from one subject to another.

I didn’t like the “pup” bit. And I found it annoying how Rye would flip flop back and forth, in one sentence no less, referring to James as Daddy and back to James again.

I also really did not like the sex work shaming: If they both paid for this, it didn’t make it gross, right? It wasn’t like...like fucking for cash.

Daddy's Sunshine is the first book in the AirB&D series by Olivia Joy. A new author, I was delightful and surprised by this cute romance.

In essence, Rye and James meet up for a two night Daddy fantasy. Neither expected to find love.

Instantly James sees Rye as "His sunshine." It's just wonderful; completely sweet and heart warming.

This is a short story; just 70 pages. Written in third person pov, the author perfectly develops everything; never leaving the reader feeling like something is missing.

Daddy's Sunshine is a great choice the next time you're in the mood for a short and sweet romance. Olivia Joy has left me wanting more from this special Air B&D!

Daddy's Sunshine is the first book in the Air B&D series by Olivia Joy. I think it was a cute story but it was a little too short and hasty for my taste.

Daddy et boy (no abdl)

Intéressante relation. Huit clos.

📖

« Oh putain. Hé. Tu m'as fait sursauter. »

« Tu voulais un Coca, tu as dit ? Un au gingembre ? »

Aucune.

Short, fun daddy/boy story set in a beautiful house set on the East Coast shores.

James and Rye have spent a pretty penny each to go meet the other at the spectacular Air B&D for a weekend of fantasy. They both believe that what they truly want/need in a mate has to be a fantasy because it’s been so unobtainable in their lives. But, with the itchy matchmaker involved, is it fantasy or can dreams really come true?

I enjoyed this short novella. This is one weekend at a place, the Air B&D, where Grady “The Itchy Matchmaker” and his assistant Cameron do their best to make your dreams a reality. I’m looking forward to more of their matches.

This book is very fast paced. Both men seemed to be able to let their minds shut off to the real world and indulged themselves in the fantasy immediately. I really liked both men. Although it’s a really short story (only 70 pages) you get to know the CEO James from Boston and the young Textile Artist Rye from New Mexico. They instantly “clicked” from the moment they met. An opposites attract with a Daddy kink. I felt that Rye had been shamed for his needs in his last relationship for not “growing up”. James filled that position perfectly with his strong daddy personality, his need to nurture and care was strong. I did like that it wasn’t all one-sided. Both men were successful business men that had their own wealth. Rye’s cooking ability let him care for James in a way that allowed him to feel useful too. Not just a needy boy. I think that was important for him after his last relationship.

If you are looking for a Daddy/boy book that is a long, drawn out adventure then this isn’t your book. But if you are looking for a quick read (it was under an hour for me) that leaves you smiling then this fits the bill.

James and Rye have both paid a pretty penny for a weekend of their dreams at a very specific AirB&B, one that caters to certain men with a certain fantasy in mind. Will they find the weekend exactly to their taste, or will they both end up craving more?

This is a lovely short story that I was delightfully surprised by. While the concept isn’t particularly new I really enjoyed the small differences that made this thoroughly modern and the snippets of hints we learn about the two matchmakers running the AirB&B itself. Most importantly though I adored the two main characters – James and Rye – and found they both exceeded my expectations.

I’ve not been particularly drawn to the recent influx of “daddy kink” style of stories. While I don’t mind the trope itself it doesn’t really fully resonate with me so I was a little hesitant to read another story with that as a strong aspect to it. I’m glad that I allowed myself to be swayed into giving this story a whirl though as while the kink was certainly present, I found it didn’t overwhelm the story and both James and Rye’s personalities and characters shone through.

I felt the author did a good job balancing between the romance and the erotic aspects of this story. I thought the connection and blossoming love between James and Rye was well handled and while they only had a weekend to forge a bond together, I found it largely believable and the two characters very well suited. There is some very mild BDSM (a very small bit of kink and spanking) but for the most part I feel readers who don’t usually enjoy those elements shouldn’t be too put off by it.

Fun and short this was a lovely, erotic short story that I quite enjoyed.

Independent reviewer for gay Romance Reviews, I was gifted my copy of this book.

My only niggle, my ONE issue with this book?? More! I needed more of these two! It's only short, 70 pages, less than an hour's reading time, but it is a delightful, beautiful, totally surprising read!

James and Rye spend a pretty penny on a short break, fulfilling their ultimate desire. And after a few days, they will part ways. Or will they??

Rye needs this, these few days as a boy, before he has to grow up and be an adult all the time. James needs a connection with his boy, so he needs this to work, to be a good fit with Rye. The immediate connection jumps out, and powers through the book. There is chemistry, yes, but there is something deeper, very quickly. I don't usually like books that they fall in, but the fact that they don't actually say those words made this more special. They DO love each other, that much is very clear, and you can feel that love jumping out at you.

It's sweet and sexy, deeply emotional for both of them. Both men have their say, so you get it all from them. At 5am on a Monday morning, tears are not pretty, and I don't usually react so to reading a book, but I did here. Especially when Rye goes to do what he does at the end!

I loved this! I really did. It's sweet and sexy. Its short and packs a punch, and it appears to be the first by this author! I can't wait to see who arives at the AirB&D next!

Only because it was so short, and I really needed more . .oh! Or Maybe a follow up?? . . .

The premise for this new series is a good one: A bed and breakfast all set up that invites people to come and stay for a weekend and meet their perfect match for a perfect getaway. All run by a matchmaker of course. All he does is set them up; the rest is up to the guests. James paid a lot of money for his weekend and is desperate to get away, but also full of hope. His life is very lonely. He may be the CEO of his company, but work is all he knows since he hasn’t been able to find someone to share his life with. Rye is recovering from a bad break up and is having one last fling before deciding to grow up and forget about his lifestyle. No one could possibly want to take care of him the way he truly desires to be treated. This is a quick read; a nice little novella with a HEA at the end. Watching these two men fight their fears and decide to actually take a chance on their relationship was very sweet. I about had a heart attack though towards the end when Rye almost cuts off that glorious hair! I look forward to seeing what other matches our meddling matchmaker comes up with. I wonder if he might get his own match somewhere. This story doesn’t take long to read and is worth it. No angst or drama here. A nice escape.

Overall this is a good short story and I was really looking forward to the premise of the AirB&D series. It comes across well, a house/hotel that has everything that guests could need as they get away for a weekend to be themselves as Daddy and Boy. These aren't necessarily people that know each other but they've booked in for the experience.
James and Rye are enjoyable characters and they setting was beautifully written, I think enhanced more with Rye having an artistic eye and taking photos. They match up together very well in what they need from a relationship and in life. What didn't work for me was that things felt a bit rushed. I think the book could have easily been a bit longer to allow the emotions developing between the characters to feel like a natural progression rather than just put there to make the story work.
There's definitely a lot of potential here for the series and I loved the teasers at the beginning and end of the owner of AirB&D who seems to be some kind of matchmaker.
I'd recommend trying this book and with this being a new author to me, I'm interested to see what comes next in this series.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

It's so short I felt kinda guilty adding it my READ list counting towards my yearly book goal. It's only 60 ish pages. Novella length for sure. It's thin on plot and the characters aren't too terribly fleshed out, but then again, 60 pages, there's only so much an author can do.

It starts with a mysterious matchmaker and his assistant who match strangers to enjoy a fantasy weekend together in a quaint Maine B&B. It really did feel like I had stumbled upon a version of Fantasy Island.

The first couple is James and Rye. James is the older CEO Daddy. Looking for a dream weekend with a boy to call his own. Rye is a 20 something artist, looking for one final weekend to play out his dream of being someone's boy until he needs to "grow up" and be more of an adult.

I did like the story. Wished it was a bit longer. There were a couple minor typos here and there. Nothing major related to continuity of story but the editing could have been better. It's a solid 3, maybe a little bit above that, just not quite 4 material.

A quick fun read. Especially if Daddy/Boy is your thing.

Enjoyable!!

Olivia Joy is a new to me author. By looking on Amazon, it seems maybe she's a new author. I really liked this book. Daddy/boy is definitely one of my favorite tropes. This story is a pure Daddy/boy story. What I mean by that is, from the first time Rye and James meet, you know they're meant to be together. You can just feel it. There's no angst, no issues between them. Well, a small one but you know that as the Daddy, James is going to do everything in his power to fix it. The dynamic between them is hesitant since they're meeting for the first time, set up by a matchmaker. Once they're comfortable with each other, it's a combination of hot and sweet which is one of my faves!!!

If I had one complaint, it would be that it wasn't long enough!!! It left me craving more. Readers are also left with the mystery of the AirB&D. I'm anxiously awaiting the next book!!!!

"Daddy's Sunshine" is a quick and pleasurable bit of escapism and fantasy fulfillment, for the characters and readers alike. With a series revolving around a Daddy/boy matchmaking fantasy weekend getaway service, this novella and its MCs waste no time getting down to business.

Be it the short weekend timetable or the story's low page count, Daddy James and his temporary boy Rye embark on an intimate crash course in getting to know each other while enjoying as much steamy and snuggle times as possible. Their insta-lust quickly becomes insta-love, and the author does a good job fleshing out those rapidly deepening and unsure feelings in so few pages.

I did find it confusing initially how James refers to Rye as "boy" and "pup" because those terms usually come with different connotations, but this is very much a Daddy/boy dynamic. I received an advance reading e-copy of this book and have left this honest review voluntarily.

I really liked the premise and the prologue, though the prologue did a bit to incite questions more than merely interest. One thing I didn't actually realize was that this was going to be so short. The length was something I completely glossed over and I was finished and felt a little put out that there wasn't more.

Both men were very sweet and had their own lives with their own issues. There weren't any extra complications beyond their disbelief of rapidly developed feelings and the distance between their homes which I appreciated because with such a short story the solutions have to be quite simple. I will say that there wasn't exactly enough attention given to overcoming the emotional insecurity stemming from a very recently failed relationship.

Overall this was a sweet book and very, very short with a nice amount of steam that didn't push the boundaries of appropriate for the men and their story. 3.5 stars.

The premise for this series is a service where you tell them what your deepest desire/kink is and they set you up with a perfect match. In this case businessman/daddy James and fabric designer/boy Rye meet up at the beach house for a perfect pretend weekend. Rye is not what James expects, he's got multi-colored hair and is definitely bohemian and after his recent divorce and being told to grow up, this is Rye's last hurrah before being a grown-up. Of course they are perfectly matched and they decide to continue things after the weekend. I enjoyed it but my biggest complaint is it is very short and boom, 2 days together, the end. No chance to see them settled at home or follow-up on their relationship. Still, it was cute. I have read this theme before, a fantasy island type situation.

Thank you for the ARC read, I voluntarily give this book an honest review. James was excited about the weekend hopeful the other man was just what he needed. Trouble was he had to remind himself that Rye was not "HIS" just borrowed for the weekend, The pup fit him naturally that it was hard to remember. Rye had given himself this weekend before having to "grow-up" only James is the perfect Daddy. He filled all his needs but it couldn't last, right? Can daddy handle a unpredictable boy? Just wonderful short little read of a wonderful match-maker and his assistant waiting to see if the magic will take.

There was sort of a Fantasy Island vibe from this book. The author is new to me and I really enjoyed her writing style. James and Rye have terrific careers and lives but are both seeking a weekend where they can be who they truly are. I liked that each sought to give the other everything they could for that perfect fantasy weekend. Rye’s ex-husband has done a number on his head and heart and believes he can’t be who he is in his everyday life. James isn’t sure that the perfection of Rye can be had outside of their short time together. The ending is sweet and wonderful and I hope to see more from this author soon. 4.5 stars

Sweet and yummy

This is a new to me author, what an enjoyable surprise, this book is. The characters James and Rye are so different but their needs match perfectly, both wanting the weekend fantasy they have, had not to end. I have one slight quibble and although the book is well explained in the blurb, the world building is mostly absent, introducing two characters that are only there for the prologue and the epilogue with very little knowledge as to who they were to the story. I would have also liked an epilogue about what happens next in James and Rye's lives. Overall I really enjoyed this sweet story about finding love.

I loved this book. I really enjoyed the whole concept of the matchmaking house. I loved seeing Grady at the beginning and at the end and I hope to see him and Cam more in the future books. I really enjoyed getting to know James and Rye. I thought that the story was the perfect length since it was just about how they met and only happened over a two day period. I loved the scenes between the two, they were definitely steamy. I enjoyed the Daddy/boy aspect but wish that was explored a little more. I will definitely be on the lookout for the next book in the series to see who Grady has matched up next. I would recommend this book.

I really enjoyed the premise of this story - a B&B where the matchmaker sets up the couple and after that it is up to them. I hoped the author could pay off on the premise and this story was perfect. I loved the fact that both men were financially independent and we didn't have a plot where James had all the money and Rye was there initially for some financial reason. I can read and enjoy those stories, but they always have just a bit of a coercive feel for me because of one man not being financially equal to the other. Here both are strong enough to realize they have something great together and are strong enough to work to hold on to it.

I really liked this story. I thought that it was unique and written in a very beautiful way. I don’t usually like insta love books but in this case, it made sense and it didn’t bother me. Rye and James were wonderful characters and I really liked them. I just wish I could have spent more time with them and got to know them better. It was sweet and lovely and I had a great time reading it. Great start to the series. I’m interested to read the next book.

A sweet Daddy/Boy match

If books were desserts then this book would be a strawberry cream cheese cupcake with sprinkles! Super sweet, I thoroughly enjoyed this easy read about a Daddy looking for a boy and a Boy that needs a Daddy. Instalove with enough background to give it substance. I'm very curious about the curator of this supposedly magic house and I definitely look forward to reading the next book in the series. I would have loved to have seen a little more - length and background on the characters and the house but I still enjoyed it as is.

Could a weekend of pretend become more than that? That's the idea behind this AirB&D house, its matchmaker owner, and the story - a more modern (and kinky) version of Fantasy Island. Rye came into it hoping to have one perfect fantasy before "growing up" while James wanted someone who truly wanted a Daddy. Both found a connection and who they needed. It made for a quick and relatively low angst read where reality flew out the window and suspension of disbelief was a must. I enjoyed reading this, but I still wish it wasn't such a stretch.

This was a cute Daddy/boy story. It was written well, and I liked the characters who were fully portrayed despite how short it was. It basically presents the beginning of what should be a great relationship. Anyway, the premise for the series involves a matchmaker and his assistant (?) who run an air b&d (why is it not called a b&b? No idea.) where you can book a fantasy stay to practice your kink for lack of a better phrase. I think the author duo (the note at the end of the book said Olivia Joy is a pseudonym for two gay romance authors working together) is off to a good start here.

I was given a free arc copy from the author for review.

2.5 stars

This was just ok. I didn't love it but I didn't hate it. The characters seemed ok and seemed like they would make a good match. The problem is there wasn't enough story to know for sure. It was just over an hour and a half to read. It felt like a section taken from a bigger story. I needed more context. I definitely will not continue the series if they are all like this and I definitely wouldn't recommend it.

This was a short story from a new author. I liked the premise of the fantasy island type idea of two strangers meeting at the AirB&D and not realizing they are getting set up by a matchmaker. It was a short yet sweet book about a Daddy and boy finding each other. I'm definitely interested in reading the rest of series as the books are released.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily gave my honest review.

For all his money, James hasn't been able to find a lover, boy or anything real. He's just worked more and more. Now he has an arranged weekend meeting. Ry works hard and is very good at what he does. He wants one last go at being someone's boy before he has to man up, grow up and all the other crap his ex told him he had to do. The two are a perfect match and although short, their story is really nice. “I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.”

Daddy/Boy weekend

James and Rye have signed up for a fantasy weekend. Neither of them know each other, but have been set up for a Daddy/Boy weekend. They meet at the house they will be sharing for the weekend. Each of them have a great job but are missing that someone who fills their heart. As the weekend goes on its clear they belong together.

Rye and James are likable characters. The story is sweet with a dollop of kink. Good, fast read.

This was a great story to a new series and discovering a new author. Daddy James and Rye were a couple that you can't forget. They had finally found what they were looking for in this incredible AirB&D. I'm looking forward to read about other couples fining their own HEA.
I volunteered to review this Advanced Readers Copy of this book.
