MADDOX
Mates are supposed to be forever, but nine years ago I found mine sleeping with another man.

Every night I both curse the Moon Goddess for pairing me with such an unfaithful woman and beg her for another chance to find a mate who could love me, because a callous and unruly alpha like me isn’t cut out to raise a daughter on his own. But the years pass by, and I find myself loathing everyone, especially that sonavbitch’s daughter, Jade.

She is a constant reminder of who her father used to be before I tortured him.

When the Chaos hits, for the first time in nine years, like a mother fuckin’ train, I stare at Jade from across the dark forest and vow that I would never let another woman get close enough to hurt me again, especially if she’s my mate.

JADE
Mates mean nothing, at least that’s what my father said when he cheated on Mom with the luna of our pack.

I didn’t believe in them then, and I don’t believe in them now. And nothing, not even the Chaos, could change my mind.

But when the forest goes dark and the Chaos descends upon the dark valley, I find myself staring back at Maddox, my alpha and the annoying prick who has made my life a living hell these past nine years. If I hate anything more than the mate bond, it is that the Moon Goddess destines me to be with Alpha Maddox.

Too bad I will never let him into my life.

So 30y old "alpha" bullies one of his pack member, who is 11y old kid.. because his dad cheated with alpha mate. Since when are kids at fault for their parents mistakes? Should pack alpha not protect all? He made all his pack hate her.. for his fathers mistakes. Her mother hung herself and father ran away, so she got all the hate.
What a "leader"....
They mate, when she is 20 and he is 39y.

Alpha Moron

This book should be renamed with the title above. Maddox is seriously the worst 😣.

The end also felt cut off and for me at least I thought there should have been some type of reckoning with her father.

Hmmmmm

This book had many issues for me, the storyline was ok, but I felt execution wise it was just missing to much or maybe just lazy writing? Im only going to point out a few things so you'll get the gist of things. When jade is being attacked by wolf's, one rips into her flesh, tearing out a piece? Yet when the alpha takes her over the shoulder back to the pack house there is no mention of wounds? The chaos brings rogues who come for women and children, the pack is literally under attack by them, yet ppl are still doing everyday normal stuff like going to the bar and getting baked goods? None of this makes sense? Even at the end when the alpha goes after jade and just ends up taken and in silver chain's with others? Who are these others? How did the alpha get taken? Like seriously what is going on? I also for one couldn't get over how the man (Maddox) treated a 11 yr old child because his wife and bf decided to be f@$%& ups? Like how do you even justify this? I don't even understand how vex was worse? He seemed like the way better option? The daughter loving jade? Is confusing! She literally says she's not around the child. Doesn't talk to her much? I'm sorry but this whole entire book is a mess of nothing quite adding up. I think it would have been ok if completely thought through, and actually explaining things instead of them just being all up in the air leaving us completely confused?

Didn't Like It . . .

Maddox and Jade had such a troubled past that I didn’t particularly like their story. He was a bully, thought nothing of torture, then punished people who didn’t deserve it, and took out his anger unfairly on a girl who had been mistreated for so long. When Chaos arrived and they were mates they had to fight what they wanted and overcome all the bad things in the past to try to move forward. The poor girl lost her chance of finding someone who cared about her.

The feelings this story generated in me were negative and I had trouble liking any of them. And the unnecessary cursing and foul language, which in my way of thinking is supposed to be used only to further the story line or present a more accurate (usually negative) idea of the characters, just seemed to be there for shock value or because the author likes to curse. Chaos was an interesting concept, but since it comes once a year and is the only time wolves can find their true mate, it seems extremely inefficient, impractical, and turns some of them feral. Not a good means to growing the pack. Anyway, I was too upset with Maddox to appreciate any more of his cruel actions. He doesn’t deserve a mate.

“For some fucked up reason, I wanted the man who tortured me every day since I was eleven years old, the immature alpha who couldn’t deal with his mate cheating on him so he took it out on me.”

This was a clusterf*ck of epic proportions.

Alpha Maddox (30) finds his mate Clea in bed with Martin, one of his strongest warriors. In the aftermath, Maddox tortures Martin, until he learns that Martin’s mate Hannah killed herself, causing him to release Martin so that Martin and Hannah’s daughter Jade (11) will have at least one parent. Except Martin leaves the pack and Jade behind. Shortly after Clea rejects Maddox and leaves, claiming that Maddox is to blame for her best friend killing herself (said best friend being Hannah, the mate of the man she was sleeping with), and for Martin leaving. He begs her not to leave him and their one-year-old daughter Kylie, who was recently diagnosed with autism, and she straight up tells him, “She will be nothing but a pain to raise.” Maddox decides that eleven-year-old Jade should pay for her father’s sins—that’s right, a thirty-year-old man decided to torture an eleven-year-old girl whose father abandoned her, and whose mother just killed herself.

He spends the next nine years torturing Jade. Clea started a rumor before she left the pack that Martin forced himself on her, because she didn’t want her reputation ruined by the truth of her adultery. Maddox doesn’t do anything to correct this rumor, because it causes the pack to ostracize Jade, and her isolation feeds into his twisted sense of possession over Jade.

“She was mine to torture, mine to hate, mine to have.”

Nine years pass, and Maddox finally gets a chance at a second chance mate during Chaos (week long mating fever), only to find out Jade is his mate. Cue an abundance of hate-sex and cringey “dirty talk”.

The entire time this f*cked-up courtship is occurring, rogues and another pack are invading the pack lands to, “kidnap our children and rape our women.” It’s completely pandemonium during the week long Chaos—but despite the fact that people are being raped, attacked, and killed, the local bakery/ice-cream shop is still opening and thriving—that’s right! don’t mind the nearly decapitated corpse in the middle of the street, and come buy a pastry!

“But even though I hated her, she was mine. I was a selfish son-of-a-bitch. I wanted to be the only one who looked at her. I wanted to be the only one to touch her. I wanted to be the only one to torment her. I wanted to both love her and make her pay for her father’s mistakes.”

TL;DR: FMC ends up with a man nineteen-years her senior who’s spent the last decade torturing her for something that wasn’t her fault. The author clearly has misconceptions of what constitutes an “alpha male lead”, only managing to romanticize abuse with her controlling, possessive, and domineering MMC.

“Everything about her repulsed me, especially how confident she acted. She was nothing more than a mere pup with the unruly strength of a luna, who obviously wanted to be punished. She knew that no good omega talked back to their alpha.”

To start let's talk about some grammatical errors and incorrect spelling I found throughout. Lots of ed added to the end of words that are not supposed to have them, even if they are plural. (My 8-year-old makes the same mistake). Now on to the storyline itself.

I went into this thinking redemption romance kind of thing. Nope. Maddox was beyond redeemable. Based on his memories and everyone in the pack, including himself, he blamed an 11 year old girl for her father sleeping with his wife and her mother committing suicide. Legit asshole. Gotta say no matter how much someone hurt me I wouldn't blame it on an innocent little girl. You want to take your hurt out on someone pick an adult. One of the two involved. His memories say he releases her dad she won't be alone after her mom dies but then he is kicked out of the pack on pain of death and Jade is still there 11, alone, tortured, or ignored by everyone because of him. Then when he finds out she is his mate he takes her. He doesn't try to woo her or win her over or make up for the past, not until they have already bonded does he swear to do better. There was no actual redemption. We don't read him trying to better himself for her or try to right the wrongs of the past. The closest thing is when he announces they have mated, which he avoided telling everyone about until the very end of the book.

Honestly Jade deserved better and yeah it's great Kylie loves her (his son) but you can't be with a guy just because you love his daughter. Her desperation to be loved and cared for and not abandoned again made her accept the jerk who least deserved her. Or any mate or a kid for that matter because anyone that blames a kid for parental mistakes doesn't deserve happiness in their life. This only gets 2 stars because I really hoped Jade would get better than this book gave her. Better than an abusive *** that uses heartbreak as an excuse to hurt others.

🐺OUT MAY 24TH🐺

4.25/5⭐️ 3.5/5🔥

Emilia Rose has a way with her readers, spicy, steamy and plot?! SHE KNOWS. All her books are short and quick reads and always leaves us on cliffhangers but this is a standalone series with other authors.

🐺Paranormal Romance
🧡Age Gap Romance
🐺Enemies to Lovers
🧡Fated/Destined Mates

I want to say this was a predictable read but when it comes to this author I honestly don’t know what to expect, easy to read, amazing plot AND spice

Alpha Maddox first mate cheated and left with his strongest warrior AKA Jade King’s dad. They both don’t want mates due to her fathers and his mates actions but the moon goddess said otherwise 👀😆

Now I love Emilia but moon goddess this and moon goddess that still gets to me and I don’t even know why but nonetheless, it was a quick and steamy read that I enjoyed very much.
Alpha Maddox was to reject Jade King for all that HER father has done, that was just AUDHSHAA. Jade just wants to find her mate and be loved 🥺🤬

OOHHH, and the action scenes!! I love how detailed and written they were
I don’t know if it’s because I’m PMSing but honestly I sobbed because really I felt the emotions with Jade’s and Maddox character so much

TW⚠️: Detailed death/fight scenes, cheating mate?

A disappointing, abusive, love affair

I didn't have a lot of expectations scrolling through this erotica book. So let's just get into the meat, shall we? I found beside the abusive relationship, of a fully grown man with a young girl(and also the acceptance of this abuse due to the Chaos) made this book leave a very poor taste in my mouth. It would describe instances of the physical and mental abuse Jade had to endure and completely glazed over what Maddock did with a couple of dreams and a whole bunch of “I'm so sorry”. I would have enjoyed Jade coming to respect herself enough to reject Maddock, and building a relationship from there (I think would make a more interesting next book). I think in that instance there would be more character development and strength.

I did appreciate that Jade was getting through, a true survivor, whose strength and fortitude were just watered down for easier storytelling. I did enjoy the conversations, the descriptions, I just hated everything else. I especially loved Kylie. I think I just wanted more bite than bark from Jade.

All in all, do not read if you are triggered by abuse, and are ok with the limp noodle that is jade and the abusive man that is Maddock.

This was trashy shifter drama and for some reason I loved it. Is Maddox book boyfriend material? Absolutely not. Did I devour this book? Yep.

There were some weird plot points - like the “chaos” and all the madness going on, but Jade still going to work like normal at the bakery? Also all the hate that Maddox had for Jade seemed like it was misdirected - like he was trying to protect her at first from hearing about what was going on with her mom and dad, and then progressed into him actually being mean and hating her later on because she wouldn’t submit to him - but at the same time the author never explicitly lays that out so just feels weird he hates an 11 year old for her father’s actions and starts to torment her…

-ends up being possessive Alpha male, touch her and you die (he considers letting her die at the beginning at the hands of rogues but can’t go through with it)
-no cheating (obvi tho the story is centered on the Alpha’s first mate cheating on him with the heroines father)
-no real ow/om drama (I mean there is some but it’s just others trying to get the alpha and heroine for themselves, not the H or h doing anything)
-lots of hate spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️
-some good angst
-mentions of sexual assault and human trafficking by the rogues

🐺🖤Alpha Maddox by Emilia Rose🖤🐺
The second book out of eleven that are coming out, all from different authors, all taking place in a shared world. The shared world is called Chaos Valley, where chaos comes once a year and is the only time wolves can find their true and destined mate. In this world chaos has been missing for many years, when it finally comes it overwhelms everyone. For some they have the urge to find their mate, for others they go feral.
Emilia Rose's book is about two broken people who don't believe in mates. Maddox broken by his first mate and Jade’s father's betrayal. Jade is broken by her father's betrayal to her mother and Maddox's cruelty. But only they can heal one another. This story is full of passion, love, hurt, betrayal, plot twists, and so much more. Read to find out how it turns out and ends for everyone involved.

I liked the story as a guilty pleasure. However, it is poorly written, it's not gonna win awards. Phrases like "turned to face his face" surely there couldve been a thesaurus used. More detail should have been added, characters are introduced, briefly, then killed. She switches the pronouns of the characters, and muddles the passages. Some of the flashbacks arent clearly defined within a timeline. Theres a fight with 20 wolves that magically turns into 9. Characters just disappear.
The writer resolves the hate hes had for her since she was 11, by saying he'd wanted to love her and mate her all that time. This creates other problems, given the large age gap and her being so young when they do engage with each other.
You will experience emotional connection to characters. Its smut, so dont go in expecting great things and you wont be let down. Easy read.

Hard to put down!

So I read this in one sitting. I didn't know, based on other reviews, if I would like it, but I did! I didnt like how wishy washy Maddox was, but he did redeem himself in the end. I liked how resilient Jade was and how she was able to just say what she wanted, to be loved. I think that, more than the mate bond, was what some Maddox up and made him realize he had been a douche canoe to her for 9 years.

A heartfelt story that makes you laugh, cry, scream, and cheer!

Love the story - so much passion and angst. The bond is strong, but the things people must endure to prove their devotion.....it is so heartwarming. Adding the struggles of a child with disabilities - its a heartfelt story you just can't put down!

The first book in the Wolves of Chaos Valley series a well written short story that kept me turning pages. Jade, Alpha Maddox and his daughter Kylie's story there is suspense, drama, danger, an evil ex, villains, twists, turns, and romance. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Really enjoyed this. Not a long read, was done in a couple of hours. I found it a page turner and was completely engrossed. It might not be everyone's cup of tea due to the themes other people have mentioned but worked for me. Love Emilia's writing.

Hot

Very steamy, good character progression, a few questions hanging, but worth a read.
It's precise and yet complicated,
the love to hate
the trap to submit
The lost to surrender

It's good

A very kind of classic shifter book. It was enemies to lovers in a way, since Maddox falls for the daughter of his first mate. Typical alpha-hole for a good part of the book. I enjoyed it. It was a tad slow in some parts but overall a good book.

The second book in the Wolves of Chaos valley group, and it was a fun read. With an Alphahole Male and a Kickbutt female it was a great enemies to lovers story, though i do think she forgave way too easily :P
