I think this was a awesome book because big mama the truck has been upgraded (a lot) to a supersized rv/monster truck, and as they embark on their road trip journey. It is fun watching them run into problems. But its more fun to see how they solve it.

Definitely another fun adventure/road trip with the core squad. Tons and tons of action with the introduction of probably one too many monsters lol. The story was still easy to follow and leaves you itching to read the next book.
Synopsis: The Last Kids on Earth are back! And this time, they’re packing up and hitting the road to track down their vile foe Thrull, who plans to construct his catastrophic Tower, a portal that will have the power to summon the big, bad, baddie himself, Rezzoch, the Ancient Destructor of Worlds. This won’t be an easy ride for the kids, as they travel through the Monster-Apocalypse wasteland they'll come across strange sightings, new creatures, and old foes. They'll squeeze in some time for fun pitstops and roadside attractions, but Thrull's terrible army of skeleton soldiers will be on their trail every turn of the way. No matter what, these kids will stop at nothing to reach their destination and stop the world from ending permanently.
Review: The Skeleton Road was a tremendous and spectacular follow-up to the Midnight Blade (Book 5) and June's Wild Flight (solo episode). It's packed with action, humor, heart, and an epic road-trip filled with bone-clattering and vine-twisting villains. Seeing the Last Kids set out and explore outside of Wakefield was such an amazing experience to read about and I think it took every creative opportunity it could to make it great. The illustrations are like eye-candy, you just want to stare and admire them as much as possible. I could go on and on praising this book, they're so many things that I love and appreciate. I would love to write a book as good as this. This series is shaping up to getting better and better by every new installment. I cannot wait to see what comes next, I highly recommend reading this book and the rest of the series. It doesn't get enough of the praise that it deserves.
The latest LKOE is here and I loved it! 💀 Max Brallier is back with the newest installment from the Last Kids on Earth franchise and this time Jack and his friends take on the skeleton crew, Blargus & other new monsters. I always love the adventure, friendships and hope the kids have trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic world on their own. Can’t wait for the next one! Watch the series on Netflix!
This book was really cool with some of the new monsters! My favorite part was when Dirk was baby talking to Drooler. I bet he’ll be a good dad for Drooler!
I missed the previous book that Jack got a monster slim hand. The story continued at this point when a big bad Thrull is controlling evil and using skeletons to attack the humans. They are building a tower and planned to bring the old evil from another dimension.
Jack and friends are going on a road trip to find this evil. Road trip is fun but not so fun when they have to leave their good monsters friends behind.
The road trip going not so well when there were dangers they have not anticipated. The story is good and it is about how they see what is right thing to do in any given moment. I like it that the story build up conflict between friends when it really counts.
I realized I never wrote a review I for this and I was like 🤨, so I’m writing the review I now :). This book was great just like the others in the series and the roadtrip aspect is soooo cool. I also love the return of old friends and the making of new ones. Overall a really good book and I really loved it!
I loved that this book gave more back story to Dirk. The middle schoolers on a road trip was very entertaining too. The visual of evil vines taking over cities gives me the chills. The audiobook is still fantastic.
SPOILERS and book notes: Jacks zombie army! “See these twelve zombies right here? I call them the Decomposing Dozen. They are the elite.” The thing that controls the zombies: “Cosmic Hand. That’s what I named the sucker-covered monster-tentacle-glove-thing that is now forever wrapped around my wrist and hand.” The more he practices with a certain zombies the better he can control them. And he can only control a few at a time. “I cannot lead a legion of zombies into battle, but I can stage super-epic zombie lightsaber fights. And I do.” His first elite zombie was Alfred! The zombie that he wanted as a butler in a previous book!“Alfred was trying to cross from one rooftop to another via a toppled water tank when he slipped and fell right into my outstretched arms. It was like a delightfully awkward first meeting in a romantic comedy.” Only three make it onto his squad. Alfred, lefty, and glerm. Thrulls Skeleton army attacks! They are like puppets, easy to take down but they form again afterword. They have vines running through them holding them together. But the goo slime from last book gets rid of them permanently. They are going on a road trip to the out post using a map from Dirks house highlighting every place he wanted to stop with his dad. Big mama is attached to a giant motorhome trailer! It’s so sad to leave Wakefield! And the treehouse and the monster friends. They are the Louis and Clark (history) and the Lois and Clark (Superman) of the apocalypse. Haha their first stop is a room with the biggest ollection of small stuff that are usually big. Oh my heck I jsut love listening to their road trip shenanigans! The gift shops and yelling moooo! At cows. Dirk yelling expelliarmus in mother goose story time forest. It’s really creepy that towns are just covered and taken over by vines. Vines are creepy!!! Aww! blarg the first monster he killed in the first book has come back as a Skeleton soldier!! I love the monster Ryke! He is like jabba the hut at his outpost. They try to get info of the towers location from him. He has a cool guard too. He plucks off rodent hairs and eats them. He is going to feed the to the rancer. He wants jacks slicer for the info. Three options: kick him, runaway, call Batman for help. The tower is at the Statue of Liberty!!!!! Their trip takes them through a natural history museum and the bones of the dinosaurs and animals chase them!!! Aww! Then big mama crashes and dies and they are trapped at the museum now. Dirks dad was a lying loser. But at the museum Dirk finds the world’s largest dagger! (NOT the world’s smallest sword!!) and now it’s his special apocalypse weapon called “the dagger” lol. The special green goo they need is all over a water park! A little creature is what is sweating out the slime! Constantly! The skeletons form one giant skeleton! And Dirk is protecting drooler (the little creature) so adorably from the skeletons. Alfred listens and obeys to Jack even with out the slicer! They have that much of a bond! Now they have the goo and they know where the tower is. Dirk is the little goo monster daddy haha
3.5 stars Skeleton Road is book 6 in the Last Kids on Earth series. These books really need to be read in order, so I'm going to assume that if you've gotten this far you've already read the first five books and I don't need to cover things like basic character introductions in this review. The one character note that I will mention is that I enjoyed getting to know Dirk a little better and hearing some of his backstory.
While this story provided a fun adventure, and the characters continued to be engaging, I was a little disappointed with this installment. This was very much a "middle" book -- meaning it didn't feel in any way self-contained. As I mentioned, the books need to be read in order, so it's safe to say you will have the "beginning" of the story, but this book also lacked a satisfying conclusion. Spoiler alert: The book starts out with the team heading out on an epic road trip to find Thrull's tower, but the end has come and gone and they never made it to the tower. Don't get me wrong, the road trip was entertaining... it just isn't over. At the end of the book the kids are still in transit.
The writing continues to be engaging, told from the perspective of self-proclaimed post-apocalyptic action hero Jack Sullivan. The pace is quick and the action punchy. There were, however, several instances of a lack of consistency in the descriptions during said action scenes. I kept getting knocked out of the story because what was happening didn't match up with what had come before. Things like people suddenly being in a different place or position without any transition. These issues were jarring and broke the flow of the story. That said, I didn't have any trouble diving back in after these hiccups and enjoying the rest of the story.
This series continues to be a favorite family bedtime book, and we're looking forward to reading the next installment to finally hear how this road trip ends.
After the tip June got on her epic adventure, Jack, Quint, Dirk, and she know they need to set out and find Thrull and stop the building of the tower. They're going to follow June's lead that hopefully will let them know where the tower is. Along the way, the gang decides to check out some of the stops Dirk and his dad had planned for an epic road trip. But it is a wild world out there, and Thrull's influence is making it even more sinister by the second. Will they be able to survive to figure out where the tower is?
While being an epic, post-apocalyptic road trip story peppered with new and weird and sometimes scary monsters at every turn (and the epitome of tourist-trap stops), this book also explores a little more of Dirk's backstory. There's definitely momentum building for an epic showdown between the gang and Thrull so this has its tense moments. Of course, Jack can't let anything stay serious for long, so there's plenty of humor too. This will likely have readers constantly asking when the next book comes out.
Notes on content: No language issues or sexual content. There are some tense moments, and some battles with monsters, but for the most part it is mostly borrowed bones of fossils and vines that are getting hurt, one big spider-like critter loses some legs. There's a TON of slime in this one and a monster plucking hairs off a creature for a snack, so a little bit of gross factor.
How? Read at night before bed -- is there anything better? Well, I'd say it's tied with him reading out loud to me while I clean, but that's much rarer.
What? You know those last kids on Earth? They're still at it! This time, they go on a road trip to destroy Thrull's tower, only they (classically) need to find a weapon to do so.
Yeah, so? I've said before, what I love about some of kids books is that they don't mind being very obvious about some stuff that the characters are going through, especially as the narrator (Jack) either needs to learn stuff about himself or needs to learn empathy for his friends. In this episode, I'd say the focus is on Dirk, who is going on the road trip that his father always promised him -- but of course, and not really a spoiler for adults, his father was lying about going on the road trip just like he lied about a lot of other stuff; so when Dirk gets a chance to be a good protector rather than a bad protector like his dad, he grabs at it with both hands. And Jack's job here isn't to help his friend so much as to understand that his friend is going through something big. Good lessons!
Book 6 of The Last Kids on Earth series brings us an epic road trip. Now that Jack can control Zombies with his new glove, the Cosmic Hand, he's trying to build his own army to go up against Thrull. The gang sets out to find Thrull and the Tower he's building, by way of the Outpost, where they believe they can learn the location of this ominous tower. Naturally they gear up Big Mama for the adventure. With a twist - Dirk winds into their trip an epic road trip he's always dreamed of, one promised him by his Dad. The plan is to head to the Outpost, stopping at the roadside attractions Dirk and his Dad mapped out before the zombie apocalypse. What could go wrong? Let's just say, everything.
We get lots of action and adventure, while our favorite friends continue to bond with each other and find new ways to show us what teamwork truly looks like. There is never a dull moment during the apocalypse, but you really couldn't find a braver bunch to survive with than our heroes. And now to wait for the release of book 7...
Loved it but you already knew that. I have loved all of the books in this series and you might be wondering “if you love the books so much why didn’t you rate it five stars” . Well I think four stars is like five stars but that fifth star is reserved for a book that is so good that if all other books were taken away I would be totally fine. Besides that that book was amazing that author gets so creative and like I said before you would never expect what comes next. The end of their road trip though I wouldn’t be able to tell you about because guess what ( huge spoiler again ) that isn’t how they finish the book they leave it as a huge cliffhanger and the next book isn’t coming out till next fall. I am so excited for this last and final book I am sure it will be the best and biggest one yet with the biggest fight and hopefully just hopefully he will make more books either in this series or as good as this series. I’m counting down the days till the next book comes out. And boy I just can’t say it enough to express how excited I am for the new book.

311 pgs. This installment will take you for a wild ride on some quickly constructed vehicles! No joke! I enjoyed reading the latest episode in the continuing adventures of some kids who are constantly pursued by vicious monsters, vineythings, and now skeletons. This time we get to know Dirk a little better along with some of his background. The group continues to search for the tower and find all kinds of dangers and trouble along the way. What amazes me is how the author keeps a reader on the edge! No matter what great feat is accomplished...it is NEVER OVER! Another monster or adversary will pop up...even from the past!!! UGH! The illustrations are masterful and keep the plot moving. I just cannot imagine how high the creativity bar has gone to express the plot of book #6...it is something amazing. Fans will absolutely LOVE this one...and according to the last page...it is NOT over yet! Highly recommended for Grades 4-6.
Newest addition to the Last Kids on Earth series! This time, Jack, Quint, June, and Dirk are on the road trip of their lives, determined to track down and stop the evil Thrull. The team finally have a lead that might take them to Thrull's Tower (a portal to bring Rezzoch, Destroyer of Worlds, to Earth). But, of course, a road trip in this series combines new monsters and constant danger with a ton of snacks, lots of humor, and many, many kitschy roadside attractions.
I adore this series--a perfect mixture of humor, action, crazy fantasy, friendship, and sarcasm. Looking forward to more, particularly additional June standalone adventures.
This is my absolute favorite Last Kids On Earth book. It has lots of action on there road trip to CHAZ AND SLAMMERS. I would not has thought that you would have to read Junes Wild Flight to understand what is going on with the rifters and all that other stuff. I also loved the return of Alfred, the best zombie ever, and last but certainly not least, the improved Big Mama! Sadly, Big Mama is now resting in pieces... Overall, this is an amazing book and would want everyone who likes Last Kids On Earth to enjoy this book as much as I did.

This was really good. It kicked the action up a notch and turned down the pop-culture over the top references that didn't make a whole lot of sense.
The intensity is really pushed here. We're getting to a point where our adventurers can't solve everything with bubblegum and a joke.
I loved Dirk's growth with the story of his dad. That was really powerful. I hope we continue to follow these characters, and get more spin-offs for each character.
This was really good, but I need a Quint story. He is the best character.
A wonderfully suspenseful, and often comedic adventure among a group of friends that children (and adults) are sure to love. This is our first experience with The Last Kids on Earth series and it did not disappoint. I find it best for reading at a 3rd through 6th grade level, as some of the characters are hard to pronounce, and there are a few zingers that may go over a younger audience’s head. My six year old and I read this together, and it definitely kept him intrigued, which is fantastic for a chapter book. The illustrations were phenomenal as well.
This was one of the most action-packed of the Last Kids on Earth books as the heroic four barrel towards their climactic confrontation with Thrull and Rezzoch at the tower. This one had fewer silly moments than previous books (Not enough Globlet or Johnny Steve), but there was more focus placed on characterization with Dirk being the focus this time.
As always, there were some great illustrations with cool gadgets and settings that my kids loved. I'm looking forward to Fall 2021 and the next iteration of this fun series!
Many longform middle grade series get stale after so many installments, but Brallier's monster-hunting middle school apocalypse survivors continue to charm and amuse in this sixth volume full of the same balance of adventure, humor, and heart as the rest of the series. Dirk and his relationship with his dad is explored here through a road trip subplot, Quint makes a big breakthrough that can level the playing field, and Jack sacrifices a beloved possession for the greater good. There's still plenty of story meat on these bones.
This is the sixth book in THE LAST KIDS IN EARTH series. My nephew and I have read them all this summer and we eagerly awaited this book.
If you have kept up with the series then you know Dirk, Quint, June and Jack are attempting to save Earth from a monster apocalypse. With the help of some displeased monsters they might have a chance at beating Rezzoch.
Spoiler Alert: 😱The next book doesn’t come out until Fall 2021 and this one literally left you hanging!
Of course I liked this book, as I’ve liked the whole series so far but there were a few things I wish were given more time. I love Dirk is getting more background and everything, but some things like Jack agreeing to give away his sword(I know it’s a bat, but I keep thinking it’s a sword) kept bothering me. Another thing I enjoy was Jack actually controlling the zombies and getting stronger. I really can’t wait to see what happens in the next book!
Rasanya cuman dengerin doang, mengerti kata per kata, tapi ga paham/terbayang these kids lagi ngapain.
