A really lovely book with such an important message about being kind. I like the use of the analogy of the 'kindness buckets' throughout and how being kind can make us happy. It is a great book for using with EYFS and KS1 for PSED and talking about empathy.
Could use it to create discussions about what pupils think kindness and empathy means and what it means to them. What have they done recently to be kind to one another? Could finish with setting a classroom 'kindness challenge' or following on from the 'kindness buckets' theme through out the book, could ask each pupil to write (or verbally say and the teacher writes this down) a kind comment about someone in the class (set this up so everyone gets a kind comment said about them - why they think they are kind) and then put it in a bucket in the middle of the circle, so they can visually see how the kindness bucket goes from being empty to full and the impact that being kind has.
