Keeping a roof over his family’s heads has been Landon’s only goal for years. Hard work and multiple jobs kept them afloat, but it didn’t leave much time for self-reflection or a social life. Now that their finances are secure and he can finally have a life of his own, he’s left wondering one thing…now what?
The solemn young man with the tattoos and temptingly placed jewelry might not know what he wants, or even if he’s a sub, but something about him pulls at Porter.
With his world in limbo after the sale of his business, Porter isn’t sure what to do next. For years, building his company was the only thing on his mind, but now, when all he has left is an empty life and too much time on his hands, Porter is left wondering one thing…now what?
When two men come to a crossroads, they’ll have to come together to finally discover what they were really meant to find in life…love.

Story Contains: M/m romantic content, BDSM elements, and two short interesting scenes that can easily be skipped…unless you’re really curious and kind of naughty like Landon.
Shaw Montgomery loves reading, traveling, and family. While not necessarily in that order, they all rank pretty close. Shaw has lived all over the United States and even Germany. While the coast of North Carolina is a favorite place Shaw currently lives in the Western United States. Current wish list places to travel to are Australia, Italy, and Scotland.
When Shaw wants to write about things that are a little more taboo (or sometimes a lot more taboo), Shaw writes under the name M.A.Innes.
I really liked the Landon character. He has decided to dedicate some time to finding himself. It's his lucky day as he meets Porter, an older Dom, when he checks out the kink club and Porter gives him a tour. You know that things are going to progress fast from that point. Porter is determined not to rush things and give Landon some time to work out what his needs are for himself...but Porter is definitely willing to help Landon figure out all the things his sub is into. Landon's mother is determined to have Landon spent his every free moment with her working on projects in her house that either aren't needed at all or could wait. I really like how Porter handles that situation without alienating Landon from his family. Shaw Montgomery has written a story that explains submission as being more than just sex making the characters, as well as the story completely believable.
Loved the kinks. Enjoy reading this author (MA Innes) and have read many, so I feel I can say: they’re all very sub-centric. It’s probably a small thing, but not really to me, and is at the forefront of my mind with each book of hers I read. The sub is usually the focus and constantly being pleasured and coming throughout, whereas there might be one (maybe two) scenes focused on servicing the Dom. And yes, the Dom’s pleasure comes from pleasing his sub, blah blah, but that only goes so far. I wish it weren’t so skewed, but I really do enjoy how sweet, loving, and easy these stories are.
I really enjoyed this. I love the dynamic between Landon and Porter. It took me a minute to warm to Landon, but once he began to open up to Porter he just came alive as a character. I loved that although he was a sub Landon was a strong person who had always stepped up to help those he cared about. I also loved that Porter was in charge of, but he made sure he was always making Landon the center of all they did.
I've read so many of Shaw's M.A. Innes age-play books that I think I'd forgotten how well she does sweet and sexy BDSM. Yeah, I need to read the rest of these. And probably go take a cold shower...
Bound can mean much more than just friends or family.
Relationships can include blood relations, marriage relationships, neighbors, schoolmates, work teams, boat crews, and similar, but it can also be based on senses, emotions, dreams, love, fear, and the most powerful: control and submission.
It can create fear of what might happen or of what others might think. Entering a dominate/submissive role for the first time can stir up so many thoughts and emotions as you try to figure out what you want and like while being safe with yourself and others.
It is not something to just try with strangers. It requires careful planning and testing to build up trust of the other person to allow you to let go and enjoy. How you handle pain is another factor. Determining what gives you pleasure is not some to look up in a dictionary. You need a small group of trustworthy friend or family to help you learn.
Or a small group of family and not friends that teach you how to take pain for their enjoyment and not yours that will mess you up forever.
Choose wisely if you get a choice. Good luck if you do not.
Two men at a crossroads in their lives... Two very different men, they don't know it yet, but they need each other to feel complete.
Landon, with his life full of responsibilities, untold stresses and deep abandonment issues finally takes a breath. When he looks within he cannot recognise the struggling , confused, scared young man that he is. He wants something profound, this deep need in him takes him to Bound and Controlled, a BDSM club.
When the beautiful man walks into the club Porter is mesmerised. Watching this erotic sight, giving out conflicting messages makes this Dom purr... " He was a fascinating mix of dirty desires and nipple piercings, mixed with a sweet submissive side that just wanted to please everyone ".... yeah, this man needed his help.
Together they go on a journey of discovery...
Reading about Landon's feelings while his needs to let go and submit deeply is taken care of is just so beautiful. He feels so free.... " But this...it's come so easily, that it's like there was another person answering, One I'd always imagined being there, but now they were free " .....wow, stunning !
I loved the tenderness in this story, Porter took such care of Landon that he was overwhelmed most of the time. Experiencing new sensations like touch/pain, being restrained for the first time was incredible for him. Both men fit perfectly, their love was never far away.
For readers like me that can't handle hard BDSM this story is a beautiful read that delves into the joys of letting go and feeling owned. Another very well written story from M.A Innes , I'm looking forward to more.
Bello bello. Hugs&kisses
This book is so romantic and sweet. The way they explore each other and learn about each other will make your heart melt. I love the way Shaw writes her sexy scenes because you can feel the love between the characters. Is you want sexy and sweet this is a great read
I loved the original Bound & Controlled series so it was great to hear we were getting a spin off from it and getting to see Landon explore both kink and being with a man for the first time made for a great story
Shaw whether writing as herself or MA Innes, is my favorite author. I originally read this book on release day, but I've recently restarted this series.
I forgot how much I loved this book. Porter is the type of Dom I would love. His relationship with Landon was just so moving and beautiful. I think Porter and Landon are how #3 in my top favorite characters by Shaw/Ma.
This book is a first-in-series, but the series is a branch off of another series. All the books are standalone, but enjoyment & extra character development is gained from reading them all.
Content warnings:
- Family Trauma - Narcissistic/Demanding Mother - BDSM - Age Gap - Chastity
This is not an exhaustive list. If you have specific triggers, please proceed with caution.
Characters of Colour?
None were explicitly present, sadly. I hope other books remedy this.
Disabled Characters?
While one of the MCs has some family trauma, neither them, nor any of the secondary characters are explicitly Disabled, nor is there significant Disability coding. Again, I live in hope that other books might do better in this criteria.
QUILTTBAG/Queer Characters?
Every masculine character in this book is explicitly Queer. While there are no obvious Trans or Non-Binary characters, Gay & Bi/Pan men abound. The MC is Bi, his LI (whom we also get POV for) is Gay. The best part of this, for me, is that this isn’t just stereotypical views of gay relationships written by someone with a kink. The relationship development is natural & bloody beautiful. The added spice of BDSM from an author who clearly knows their stuff elevates this to one of my top-five Queer Romances.
Worth my time?
H*ck yeah! This was about an 8-hour read for me, & it was time very well spent. I’d apologise to anyone sitting behind me on public transport, but I’m not at all sorry.
Re-read?
Absofuckinglutely. Especially if I were to do a deep dive through this author’s books. Characters get so much more fun when they have cameos in their friends’ stories.
Recommend?
Anyone who likes BDSM, or reading *spectacular* Queer romance. Or, hell, anyone who reads *terrible* Queer Romance & needs a new bar to compare against!
Landon has put everyone ahead of himself for years, and now he's decided to take a little time for himself. He's never submitted or been with a man, but now Landon is ready to find a dom. Thank goodness Conner, fabulous submissive and part owner of BDSM club Bound and Controlled, is a wonderful matchmaker. There is an instant spark when Conner introduces Landon to the sexy dominant Porter, who is everything Landon imagines the perfect dom should be. For his part, Porter is attracted and intrigued by Landon and wants to break through the mask he seems to wear. Porter is quickly devoted to his new sub, and Landon happily lets the older man take control in the bedroom - and sometimes out of it as well. He's researched what he wants from a relationship, so he doesn't have the hesitation that might be expected from someone not only new to the scene, but also new to a same sex relationship. Sometimes Landon shows a touch of brattiness, but that's only because he enjoys punishments so much - and Porter loves giving Landon just what he needs. There are some very sexy scenes here, along with some sweet romance, family drama, and loving humor. I enjoyed every minute of Porter making Landon his, every minute of Landon beginning to realize how important he really is to Porter, every minute of watching them fall in love. I'm so excited about this new series, and this romance is a wonderful start. I know the next couple who get a story will be just as special, and I can't wait!
This is a sweet story of love and tenderness. They talk and get to know each other. Being a power dynamic couple is displayed in a safe manner with limits and safewords. Now I would love to see more books like this show how using the safe words would work. Most books show the doms taking over and doing things that they like and the sub hasn’t tried. Then magically the sub is ok and likes it. In real life the sub I not the only one who compromises, and sometimes the doms do. I wish more books portrayed the subs safe wording and adding something to the hard limits list and even if it is something the dom likes they are willing to respect that and stay.
This book was good. Landon just needed a little push, but he finally has time to explore what’s been missing from his love life. That’s how he ends up at Bound and Controlled being taken on a tour by the down to earth Dom Porter. And oh boy, Landon and Porter are an amazing couple. Landon submits so beautifully to Porter, it’s a truly mesmerizing thing to read. But I kept getting déjà vu vibes. Has me wondering if I’d already read this book. Anyways, I like this universe so I’m sticking with the series. Definitely looking forward to the next book.
I'm sorry but the ending ruined this book for me. It was good, steamy, pushing boundaries but the first time they finally have sex, it just that they have sex...it was worked up to like it was going to be something great and loving and intimate and instead it came off as a scene and all that outpouring of emotions and love just uhh you turned it into a scene instead of them coming together in love. Really just turned the whole book into crappy letdown.
Loved this book way more than I thought I would. Super sweet loving D/s but lots of themes of humiliation, spanking, watersports, voyeurism, exhibitionism, chastity, and first m/m. Wish this couple had their own series as I feel like they had a great foundation to have more books that were less sweet first time and more boundary pushing!

Omg this was so perfect. The suspense until they finally did it was killing me but I loved it. It was so passionate and you could feel the love between the two.
I just felt that it was a bit overly pushed or forced perhaps? The acting and all. But I did enjoy it.
Read to me by Alexa 🌶️ — for the ONE penetrative scene at legit the last 5 %. The rest is basically foreplay . I think there is also one oral scene
I actually really wanted to love this because it has a lot of elements that I normally like but I felt like the story was really poorly paced. Granted, part of that can be a lack of spice, which is really frustrating for me, but I also think it’s the writing to.
Landon is a single young man who has previously only dated women, but knows that he may also be attracted to men, and has been working up the nerve to explore that desire for a while. He is also interested in BDSM. So he goes to a BDSM club where he meets Porter.
Porter is an older laid-back Dom and he is pretty instantly attracted to Landon. They hit it off pretty quickly and begin dating from there. We get the slowest of slowest burns, and of course an HEA.
I think the issue here was what details the author chose to focus on. While I appreciated that the author seem to really be trying to accurately portray safe and healthy BDSM practices (I say “seam“ because I am not a BDSM practitioner, so I don’t know for sure how accurate it is, but she seem to put in real effort to making it safe and healthy.) which I think is great, but at some point it’s just overkill. It felt redundant and used up precious page space that could have been used to enhance the romance.
The characters constantly review the same rules of their relationship over and over using the teach back method. Period which again is not a bad thing but for the length of this book, it just took up so much time, and consequently, there was very little spice and honestly that much relationship development. These characters fall for each other, hard and fast, but I felt like their time together was a glossed over if they weren’t reviewing rules together. I think the same effect could’ve been achieved with them doing this just once or twice instead of repeatedly throughout the book. This is not a how to guide for BDSM it’s a romance novel. It’s kind of like I assume characters go to the bathroom, but I don’t need to know each and every time. The way the author glossed over time together is the same way that they could have glossed over how often they review rules.
The lack of space is my own personal annoyance, but if you’re like me, and you like your romance spacey, this is not the book for you. Because while I don’t love, slow burns. I don’t mind them if the spice is plentiful once we get there. But that wasn’t the case here considering it literally didn’t happen until the last like five or 10 pages.
Landon had focused on keeping a roof over his family for years and now that they are secure he can concentrate on himself and what he needs. At Bound & Controlled co-owner Connor introduces him to Dom Porter who is drawn to the solemn young man with the tattoos and jewellery. After selling his own business Porter is not sure what he wants to do with himself and so this is a perfect time to meet Landon. When two men come to a crossroads, they’ll have to come together to finally discover what they were really meant to find in life…love.
I really enjoyed this story with the two men having an intense relationship which includes BDSM-like behaviours but it is also quite romantic as they fall in love it is wonderful to be on that journey with them and experience all of their thoughts, hopes, dreams and emotions. They were perfect for each other and so I think that Connor should get some credit for that (maybe Ben could give him a drink and let him dance as a reward?). Easy to read, feel and understand. This story contains mature MM content with a BDSM-like D/s relationship.
I had a lot of trouble connecting with Landon and Porter. Normally I enjoy books where kink is being explored for the first time or when there is first time gay as a trope. As the case is with this book it’s both. Landon has no clue about anything with men other than he is attracted to them. Porter is a very put together Dom that looks hot af in a suit.
The chemistry between these two should have been fantastic since they’re sort of opposites attracting. Landon with his tattoos and nipple piercings and Porter much more straight laced. I wasn’t feeling the chemistry. It comes across as forced and unnatural to me.
I did enjoy that this story is connected to the Bound & Controlled club so we get to see Connor and he’s something else as a character. It was nice to be introduced at least peripherally to the rest of the characters that we’ll see in the series. Hopefully I’ll connect better with Stuart and Asa.
That’s what this book has me feeling when I started reading it. Glad to be back and see so old faces with the new. And the flashbacks to previous stories while I read was the icing on the cake. Landon picked the best place to go to learn about himself. And Conner knows his members well. Porter is the perfect Dom for Landon. Personally I thought how the kink that might have people squeamish was very mild. It is a level of control and trust and the author showed that the best possible way with both couples. Also Landon met a rather subdued Derek. I can just imagine him seeing Derek when he’s around his friends. To be a fly on the wall lol. I know when this series is done I’m going to read it and Bound and Controlled again in one massive marathon read. Plus the others that have ties to it. Man that will be the best escape vacation.
The sub is such a nebulous blank character; the blank slate that kinks and desires are pinned to, so why give him a name? Plus he giggles an awful lot. 🤨
Other than that, the BDSM is solidly represented. It's also the only MM book I've read so far that barely hints of bottom prep, in the most vague way ever that an enema was used. (I realize that poop isn't sexy, but NOBODY ever preps that common way and then everybody just relaxes in bed when someone's ass is full of jizz. It's weird.) I wish this was longer to dive into the sub's motivations and wtf is up with his family. His humanity, in all it's messy details, is missing. The fact that what could have been a delicious taking down of the literal terrible mother of the sub is left off the page is so incredibly stupid. He really didn't need to have a name, since he was ultimately uninteresting. Things make him hard, shocker, and things make him nervous, but why? A slight breeze can make men hard FFS.
Landon has spent so long taking care of his family that now that they are finally in a good place he doesn't know what to do. Porter is at loose ends, he sold his business but doesn't know what to do now. When Landon and Porter are introduced at Bound and Controlled, they hit off spectacularly. Porter is able to read Landon from the first time together and Landon has no problem letting go with Porter.
This was a great start to series that is a spin off from the author series Bound and Controlled. I really enjoyed both Porter and Landon as well as seeing Bound and Controlled from a different perspective. I will be interested to see where the next books goes.
This is a really tender book, which is sort of a funny thing to lead off with in a review of a BDSM book. The thing is that Shaw Montgomery writes mm romances that have BDSM in them rather than BDSM books. What do I mean? Well I have read too many books that are A: written by people who have no idea what BDSM is B: put kink into books and forget that they need to write a story that is interesting beyond the kink and C: (my personal favorite) think that spanking is all you need to call it a BDSM book. Madam Montgomery writes great stories and this is one of them. Period.
