Author of Sweet and Spicy Romance from Yesteryear #sweetandspicyromance

Welcome to my little corner of the internet! So who am I? Well, it's quite simple actually. I'm a history-lovin' author who writes in her fuzzy pants and loves her horses! My stories have a pinch of sweetness, a dash of spice, and a dollop of history. Sound interesting? Then slip into your petticoats and curl up on the couch while I transport you to the past!

Growing up in Nevada, reading was always a pastime that took second place to trail riding and showing horses. When I did find the time in my youth to curl up with a book, I found enjoyment in the Saddle Club Series, the Sweet Valley High series, and the classics of Anne of Green Gables, The Box Car Children, and Little House on the Prairie. Although, writing always piqued my curiosity, it wasn’t until September 2009 that I worked up the courage to put my passion to paper and started my debut novel. With a love of history, it wasn’t hard for me to decide to pick the Historical Romance genre.

I live on a ranch with my husband, two daughters, and many farm animals. When I'm not writing, I spends my days from dawn to dusk as a stay at home, homeschooling mom. I also work in my garden and takes care of my many farm animals, as well as I love to bake and cook from scratch. While I don't show horses anymore, I still love to trail ride my paint horse, Honky, as well as I enjoy teaching my daughters how to ride their horses, Sunburst and Cowboy.

This powerfully written story follows two sisters as they are separated by an evacuation prior to the occupation of Guernsey. Everything changes for both young women. In the blink of an eye, their futures become uncertain and time seems to freeze for one sister while it zips along at a steady pace for the other. War brings disaster after disaster.

Archer has outdone herself with this novel. This riveting story kept me up through the wee hours of the morning and I am anxiously awaiting the next book. Get your copy today!

Intriguing

An excellent book set in one of the most dramatic times and places in the 20th century. Wasn’t ready for it to end, but wasn’t ready to quickly jump into the next book in the series. Had to assimilate the info v

Two sisters separated when the Nazis invaded Guernsey, an isle between France and England during WWII. The younger evacuates to England while the older one stays behind to help with their ailing father/parents. The boyfriend the younger leaves behind becomes close to the older sister while the younger one finds another boyfriend on the mainland. Much duress and guilt involved in their relationships while enduring tragedies caused by the Nazis. Heart-wrenching events and drama throughout, however, the the novel does end on a hopeful note. Only the first novel of several written in the saga about the lives of these two girls for those who can handle the sadness surrounding this era in time.

While I wanted this to be a solid read I began to feel when Amelia joined the WLA as if I’d read it before, I then realized I hadn’t read it but watched it on BBC’s Land Girls - good grief! There are too many similarities to be a coincidence. The story of Evelyn is different bit predictable, several times there are timeline errors and very simple characters. It’s a quick and easy read without much emotional pull.

wow

I f found this series by mistake and I'm glad I did! I love the sisters and Henry and William! The characters go through so much! I've cried, laughed out loud, and cried some more! Other times I've Literally sat up straight in my bed heart pounding about what was about to happen! And time that the German soldiers were close! I'm on to book 3 now and I've read the first two books in a couple days! This series is so good I didn't know after the first one would the second live up to and of course IT DID!!! If you need a great series to read I'm telling you THIS IS A MUST READ!

Another good WWII story, this one is about two sisters and what happens to each of them when they are separated during the war. It jumps back and forth between the two sisters and other characters but it's easy to follow and kept my interest. I liked it enough to want to read the next book in the series and see what happens next. Very clean book, no cuss words or sex. I read it in a Kindle book which had a lot of proofreading errors, which I wish I could correct!!

Yours:The Promises Between Us

Very good book about young women leaving their home land and working on a farm for the WLA. This story finds Amilia meeting William in high school then again meeting him when he enters the Army in 1940. It is war time in England.

Cute but slow

It was great at times and other times extremely boring. Cute story, great characters just not a lot going on other than what they're all thinking. I do plan reading the other2 stories, hopefully they get better

The first in a 3-part series about 2 Guernsey sisters Siri g WWII - Evelyn stays behind as the Nazis invade while Amelia is shipped to safety in England. This is the story of the twists and turns their lives take as they face war. Moving right on the book 2

Good book!

I am always happy when a war story starts and unsure of how it will turn out. This book surprised me because from the beginning l felt unsure of what was going to happen. I am totally happy with this book and highly recommend to anyone a Good read!

War time story of loss and heartache

In preparation of WW II after the British Army leaves their bases in Guernsey. It's decided to remove young children from, school age down to England. The story is one of heartache, loss and new friendship

Enjoyable but.....

For the jarring Americanisms e.g. Fall for Autumn but also using 5pence instead of a shilling . Failed by poor research

I enjoy a good wartime story and this one is based in Guernsey. Has a few items reminiscent of the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. Its a quick light read, and part of a trilogy.

This was an emotional read for me with the loss involved in the story. I appreciated the reality of the times and the struggles felt by those who endured those hardships.

This was a quick and simple read. Somewhat predictable. Also the author made sure someone “snorted “ a laugh or a breath on almost every other page. I found that annoying.
