Barbara Winkes writes suspense and romance with lesbian characters at the center. She has always loved stories in which women persevere and lift each other up. Expect high drama and happy endings.
Discover a variety of genres, serial and standalone. Women loving women always take the lead.
Jordan and Emma seem to always find themselves right in the middle of the storms thrown their way. Wonderful cast of characters some who have become survivors of the depraved individuals who hunt their prey.
Jordan and Emma's little girl Meri is where they seek solace at the end of every day.
There are a number of twists and turns that keep you guessing. Barbara does an amazing job with showing us the story not telling us. That allows you to feel part of the adventures and feel for the characters along their journey.
If you want to understand the.characters, their interactions and relationships with each other start with the first book in the series. They can be read as stand alone books but I encourage you to read the series. I am always anxious for the next release in this series!
The thing that sticks with me throughout this series is that with so many people in the world so hell bent on hating other people, criminal justice career is guaranteed security to never be eliminated or outsourced—just like the medical & the mortuary professions. There will always be people to deal with the people harming other people who will need people to save them & people to finish it when it fails. God, sometimes humanity just sucks... I know way too deep for this book review, but...
It was an interested story. However there are a lot of grammar mistakes. Same characters were females later the interpersonal pronouns were used to describe their actions in the same sentence. For example, the lieutenant was male in all the book but at the end was a female. Same happened with the lawyer that was a debut after the attack was referred as a male. That was tiredness and confusing. It appears a book translated by Google translator.
I've really enjoyed reading Jordan and Ellie's series, but there were a couple of plot holes, as well as some factual errors this time. The closure of the last case was also a bit rushed from the robbery until the end. Hopefully other readers won't see what I caught.
What a ride! This has been an exciting, fast-paced, and thoroughly enjoyable series to read. I hate that the series has come to an end; it's hard to say goodbye to Ellie and Jordan and the rest of the characters who have been my constant companions over the past month or so as I binged the entire series. Lesfic fans should put this series on their must read lists!
The Carpenter/Harding series gets better with every book. Illusions is a prime example of the skill Ms. Winkes has in writing a murder/thriller story. If you haven’t read the entire series, you simply must!
