Eden's entire world has become a living nightmare. Banished from the Dream World for a crime she didn’t commit, Eden is torn from all she's come to love and forced to live in a world of darkness. The longer she remains, the more her true self slips away, made worse because her suspicions have alienated her from the man she fears betrayed her, but whom she most longs to trust.
As Eden ventures into a bleak and twisted journey exploring the darker side of her powers, she must find a way to maintain her strength and her identity, for the thing she fears most is not the nightmare she's currently living, but herself—and the nightmare she could become. But finding her way back to who she truly is will require a leap of faith, trusting the one person she still loves but is determined to push away.
Camille Peters was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah where she grew up surrounded by books. As a child, she spent every spare moment reading and writing her own stories on every scrap of paper she could find. Becoming an author was always more than a childhood dream; it was a certainty.
Her love of writing grew alongside her as she took local writing classes in her teens, spent a year studying Creative Writing at the English University of Northampton, and graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in English and History. She’s now blessed to be a full-time author.
When she’s not writing she’s thinking about writing, and when’s she’s not thinking about writing she’s…alright, she’s always thinking about writing, but she can also be found reading, at the piano, playing board games with her family and friends, or taking long, bare-foot walks as she lives inside her imagination and brainstorms more tales.
It has taken me several years to write this book simply because of the emotions I needed to invest in order to bring this story to life. Now that it’s finished, I feel as if I’ve just embarked on a deep and emotional journey right alongside my heroine. I hope that this book helps readers know that no matter how dark it seems, there is always light to be found, and that no matter our past, mistakes, or circumstances, ultimately we choose who we want to be. If this book can help others, then the difficult journey in creating it will be well worth it.
The world of this book is so fun and interesting, with fairy tale people creating dreams and nightmares for the human realm.
This book is a hard read, since the reader can tell Eden is going down the wrong path, even as she keeps making bad decisions. But if there is one thing that the author writes well, it is believable angst as a main character makes bad decisions, but eventually realizes her mistakes and tries to do better. Eden is so believable and real, and that's probably why it is hard to read. Because it is what any of us would probably do in the same position.
The ending leaves the character in a better place, and I can't wait to see where the next book takes Eden and crew!
Dreamer was really good and I loved it! But Nightmare… Nightmare was amazing and I really, really loved it. This book has blown me away!
This book is magical. From the characters to the world, it’s beautiful.
I adore these characters. I loved them in the first book and I love them even more now. I’m attached to Eden and Darius. ❤️ Eden is awesome. I love watching her character growth. She’s going through much but seeing her grow is a beautiful thing. I’m rooting for her 100%. Darius is just amazing. I love his character so very much. He’s sweet, kind, and selfless (his cocky side doesn’t fool me 😉) even as he is hilarious and fun. His love for Eden is so beautiful and unconditional. I love how he supports her and loves her through it all. It’s beautiful how he never stops showing her how she is more than the darkness she has been forced into. I also love how Darius loves her, forgives her, and continues to wait for her to heal instead of rushing her into a relationship I sure he wants right now. But no, he waits. He’s an amazing hero and I love him so much!
The love story is so beautiful! Their connection is just beautiful to read!! It brings out ALL of the fangirl feels in me. I was so completely torn at moments and then other times I was completely happy. These two make my heart so, so happy and I CANNOT wait to read the rest of their story.
This book kept me on the edge of my seat and up late at night. So much was happening, it was intense!
I love the message that you don’t have to be the person you or someone else has told you you are. You choose who you want to be just as Eden has to choose whether she wants to be a dreamer or a nightmare like everyone says she is.
And I love that there’s the message that there is light to be found in the darkness. Although the premise of this book may be dark, there’s actually so much light and Hope woven in.
I can’t wait for the rest of these books to release! I will be anxiously waiting for Darius and Eden’s story to continue.
*Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC. All opinions are my own.
In my opinion, this book far exceeds the first. I liked Dreamer, but this one was so much more. The characters had a lot of growth, they grew together and separately. There was such a range of emotions while reading this. I at times cheered her on, and other times wanted to yell at her for being stupid. I am so excited to read the next one. I actually re-read Dreamer and then this one again, they are seamless. One picks up right where the other ended.
Thank you to Camille Peters for an advance copy for a fair review. These opinions are my own.
I loved Dreamer, but I loved Nightmare even MORE!! Oh my goodness, I had the best time reading this! Eden has grown so much in her powers, and I just loved seeing her journey in the magical world! I cannot get enough of the characters in this book, especially my boy Darius!
We get to experience a whole new side of the Dream Realm with Eden living in the Nightmare world, and I am HERE for it!!! I just found the Nightmare world so intriguing and incredibly creative!
The emotions are heart wrenching in this book. You really feel for Eden, as she has SO many difficult things thrown at her. I love seeing her work through them, and love the relationships she builds through it all!
I am already dying to see her progress, and what will happen in the next book!
I’ve been looking forward to this book for a while and definitely enjoyed it. It improved on the first book and was much easier for me to get through. It took me on an emotional rollercoaster as Eden experienced so much throughout this book! Darius is more interesting. Character development is significantly better; Eden’s journey is more enjoyable to follow, and I like her a lot better.
I do like that the back and forth battle Eden had with herself regarding her fear was realistic. It’s as she said, breaking free is not a linear path but a path full of setbacks to navigate at each stage of the process. I loved the inclusion of the stars. Eden certainly has a difficult path to follow, but Camille Peters is absolutely right. The night is not without light and hope.
I can honestly say I’m looking forward to the 3rd book! I’m dying to know what comes next. I would highly recommend this to anyone who loves Camille Peters' writing, journeys of self-discovery (for the characters), and world building.
*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.*
Wow! This was such an awesome addition to The Dream World Chronicles! I’m loving all the new information being presented about Eden’s powers and the darkness looming. I loved Shade’s (a new character) personality and what she brought into this story. I loved how she and Stardust conspired together a bit and how Eden didn’t quite suspect it until they already achieved their goals. I loved how real all of Eden’s thoughts and feelings were and how it affected my thoughts on what would happen. I also really liked how not only this book showed how loyal Eden was and that she had fears, but how both of these affected her choices when she had to make a decision. I even liked Blaze and Trinity a bit when they softened towards Eden at times throughout the story.
Summary:
Eden is no longer welcome in the Dream Realm after being wrongfully accused of a crime. Instead, she has to go and live in the Nightmare Realm, a place much different from the light and beautiful place Eden considered to be home. The Nightmare Realm is as dark and creepy as the name suggests, and it brings Eden down to live in such a place. Especially with her mother insisting that she change things about herself to better acclimate to her new home. With each new change, Eden finds herself losing the person she was, despite the constant reassurances from her only remaining friend that it is all temporary.
Things only get worse as Eden begins seeing more of Darius, the man she believes to have betrayed her as well as the man she loved, around the realm. And when a new friend begins spending time with both her and him, Eden finds herself even more conflicted about the man she hoped to be her Pair. Eden wants to believe that they are Paired and that he’d never do anything to hurt her, but with her belief of his involvement in her banishment and knowledge of this relationship with her new friend, Eden just can’t find the hope she wishes for.
Will Eden succumb to the darkness around her or choose to be a light in a dark place despite everything turning against her?

Okay, let's get started with this review. I didn't reread the first book, Dreamer, before starting this one (which is a rare occurrence for me), but I did go back through and read my review of the first book. And luckily, there was enough information provided in the early chapters to help me recall what had happened in the previous book. So I was good to go.
In all honesty, it was a good book but very much the middle of a series, and I'm not sure how I feel about that. The plot introduced many new questions and answered several previous questions. Eden's mother has a standout presence from the beginning of Nightmare (giving off strong Other Mother vibes, if you know, you know), and I enjoyed experiencing the Nightmare side of this very vivid world that the author created.
I will point out, especially having reread my previous review, that Eden, our main character, the heroine of this series, still lacks character development, and I find that frustrating. I would have given this book three stars solely because of her, but I love the worldbuilding and the vivid imagery. And yes, there is still another book to come, but Eden doesn't come off as a strong character after reading this one. She still seems to be dependent upon the actions and reactions of the other characters to move forward in the plot, which makes her more of a puppet than a protagonist. I still have hope for her because I want Eden, as the MC, to be just as strong and alive as the world in which this series exists. So I will be reading the next book when it is available. What can I say? I've got my fingers crossed.
This addition to the Dream World Chronicles begins where Dreamer ended: Eden has been exiled to the Nightmare realm. Over the course of the novel, Eden tries to find out the truth of who betrayed her. Eden also struggles with who she is. After the events of book one, Eden's faith in her identity is shattered. This book, Nightmare is all about Eden trying to rediscover who she is. Is she a Dreamer? Or is she a Nightmare?
All in all, this was a great addition to the series! I really love how we got to see more of the world and meet new characters! Shade may be my new favorite character.. I also was really happy with seeing some familiar faces from book one! Eden, the main character, goes through a lot, and loses sight of who she is. Stardust is still Stardust. Darius may make a few appearances...
Even though this book is darker than book one (it does take place in the nightmare realm), there are some moments of hope. There's quite a few cute scenes that made me really happy.
I enjoyed Nightmare for the most part, and I can't wait to see where this series goes! I am especially interested in what fate has in store for the cast of characters!
Many thanks to the author, Camille Peters, for an ARC of Nightmare! I really appreciate it!
I started reading this book immediately after I had read book 1 in the series. I wouldn't recommend reading Nightmare without having already read Dreamer, as there are some significant details that are essential for picking up the threads.
The cover promised a transformation for Eden, the central character, who at the end of Book 1 had been suspended from her dream world and banished back to the ashes of her home on earth. Nightmare is a good description of how her life changes as the second story unfolds. Magic becomes an even more important part of her life as she tries to accommodate the pressure of pleasing the family she is reunited with in the Nightmare Realm. Many of the decisions that she makes only lead to further trouble, no matter how hard she tries. It was easier to step back and play observer, remembering that her traumatic childhood was the underlying cause for her mistakes.
I especially enjoyed the way Camille let the emotional journey unfold, misunderstanding and deliberate deceptions mixing with honest mistakes. It was satisfying that there were other characters who made decisions that helped Eden grow and take ownership of her situation.
I am definitely reading the next book when it becomes available so that I can continue to follow the adventure.
This book is masterfully written. Eden is in a tough place and the writing showed it without shoving it in your face. All aspects of her life, down to her thoughts were horribly affected by her mental state. And there is a reason. It makes sense, however sad it is to read.
And he didn't fix all her problems immediately. It is going to take time, and I really appreciate how that element of the story is written. It's realistic and builds a connection with Eden to watch her struggle and have to fight to change.
Overall, the romance had me swooning, and the plot moved at a pace relative to Eden's healing. It was incredible and I can't wait for Insomnia!
I received an ARC copy of this book, but all thoughts here are my own
Nightmare was definitely a bit darker then Dreamer but oh so good! Spoilers ahead... You've been warned! Camille Peters has done it again! She truly out did herself this time. It's not your typical love story. It's not all bright and bubbly. Eden has struggled with her identity, is she a nightmare or a dreamer? I'm so happy she has finally realized she's a dreamer and her mother is the worst kind of nightmare. She's finally realized Darius is her pair, not that it surprised me, and we get to see that beautiful relationship develope further. We all need a Darius, someone we can rely on no matter what. I was totally thrown for a loop with Shade. I expected she was some kind of relative but Darius' twin! I really hope we get more of her in the next 2 books because I love her quirky, bubbly personality, especially for a nightmare! There was enough, slightly steamy, romance to keep my heart racing but still a clean romance. I'm on pins and needles waiting for the next book, Insomnia!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I have been highly anticipating this sequel, and it did not disappoint! That being said, I feel it is significantly darker than the first book in the series, but, after the conclusion of book one's events, I figured it wasn't heading somewhere warm and sunny. I have to admit that I feel kind of sorry for Eden in this book, as she was blamed for things she didn't do, as well as people close to her are using her fears and insecurities against her. Now don't get me wrong, Eden definitely is making her own mistakes, too, during all of this. But she isn't really in a super wonderful place emotionally (and maybe mentally?) since the conclusion of book one. But despite the darker nature of this part of the overall story, there certainly are bright spots along the way. The tender moments, the beautiful imagery and thorough world-building, as well as a new character (whom I adore, by the way!) bring the charm of the series' introduction and winds it through this new installment. I am very much looking forward to seeing where the story continues from here!
I have been greatly awaiting this book! Once I started, I finished it in 2 days. It had me on the edge of my seat and totally invested in the next installment of Eden's story.
Eden lives with her mother in the Nightmare realm. She is trying to feel at home and a place where she belongs, but she continues to dream of the Dreamer realm. She is swirling with intense emotions throughout this book including regret, fear, loneliness, heartbreak, etc. Most of all, she misses Darius whom she believes betrayed her. The more she tries to embrace her new home, the more she is afraid of the way it changes her.
This book was definitely an emotional read. I tore through it because it is often hardest to watch a character struggle with the dark side and sometimes let it win. The author did a great job writing Eden's character to be totally believable and relatable in her struggles. I am look forward to what the next book in the series will bring!
This book was so powerful I don't even know where to start! At this point in her story, Eden is going through a really tough time. Camille Peters is so talented in the way she expresses this. I have just recently picked myself up after months of feeling the same way as Eden does in this book so to see an author so artfully deal with and explain made me cry...multiple times. Eden and the troubles she was going through really spoke to me. Seeing her struggle to pick herself up again and again until she finally started to win her internal battle was such a heartwrenching but then beautiful feeling. I also loved exploring the Nightmare realm and watching as Eden and Darius finally reunited. I have no idea what I am going to do until the next book comes out! (I might just have to reread the first two books until I have memorized them!) I can't express myself enough! If you have not read this book then go to amazon and buy a copy right now! You won't regret it!
Camille Peters delivers another magical tale where character growth and imaginative worlds take center stage. We continue the Dream World Chronicles with Eden accepting her Dreamer Realm suspension and being forced to live with her controlling, demanding mother in the Nightmare Realm. It’s a story meant to show grief and darkness and be lost, but then finding light and hope. Eden made many mistakes and eventually learned from them. The first and middle acts were slow and repetitive. The last third brought action and sinister plots revealed! Darius is a sweet representation of Christ and how He always loves us sinning humans; He’ll always be there for us, just like Darius continually supports and cherishes Eden.
Thanks, Camille Peters and team, for my eARC of this book for my honest thoughts.
I received this book for free in exchange for my review.
I always start my reviews by talking about the author and the world of the book. I love this author. I love this world. Given this, I will read books that I medium like in order to get to read the whole series!
That being said, this book is not my favorite in the series. As she warns, it is a little bit darker in tone. I do like that she does this as the character does need that growth. The main character is a little focused and doesn’t necessarily see what is going on. I do like the overall journey of the book. I’m really excited to read the next one!
Wow, this was quite the journey! There was so much depth and raw emotion to this book, but as heart wrenching as it sometimes was, it was also a beautiful journey to experience. I adored watching Eden’s growth, and fell even more in love with Darius, if such a thing is possible, as he supported her every step of the way. Exploring the Nightmare Realm was also fascinating. I just love this unique and magical world. I’m so excited for the third book and can’t wait to see where this imaginative series takes us next.
The concept of a Dream Realm and a Night Realm with beings that visit mortals to compete for their nightly dreams is a novel one but falls a bit short in its implementation. Because the main character speaks throughout the book in the first person and the nature of this part of the trilogy, it's hard to develop empathetic feelings for her. I would not recommend this book for young teen, young adult readers who may be experiencing difficult emotional situations in their current state of life. Mayhap the third book would be more positive???
The story of the Dream World Chronicles continues to unfold with Camille Peters' vivid descriptions. The reader is immersed in the story as the characters' emotions are explored. I found myself enjoying the imaginative direction the story took and wondering how it will resolve as we move through the next books in the series!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed are completely my own.
Wow! I thoroughly enjoyed this book! This series is so creative and unique. I love the characters and how they have grown from the beginning of the series. Eden has especially grown. I was concerned because I knew that this book would be much darker. I do not usually like "dark" books. I prefer lighter, happier books. But I did not find it too dark. There was enough magic and light in the story to not make the darker tones overwhelming. I can not wait for the next book in the series!
I was a bit hesitant about this book based on the ending of the previous book; however, I was quickly drawn into the story and soon found it hard to put down.
I really enjoyed the character growth I saw in this story. And I liked seeing some of my favorite characters from the previous book (Darius and Stardust) as well as meeting another character I loved (Shade).
Honestly I really wanted to love this book. The premise is great, but the characters aren’t very believable, there is a lot of redundancy, and the protagonist is very childlike. I’ll probably finish the series because I want to see how she wraps everything up, but I certainly won’t be rereading the books, nor would I recommend them to other readers.
I received this ARC for review. I really liked it, I didn't see so many of the events that came, the plot was different than I expected. I think this book has a lot of great world-building and imagination. It sounds like a pretty cool world to live in. Where people can make your dreams. I highly recommend for a magical adventure and self-discovery.
Eden has never been that lovable main character. She has always been brash, stubborn and emotionally reactive rather than logically reactive. She is like a real person, flawed. If she can finally accept responsibility for her actions, choose to change her behavior and leave her negative influences behind she might be spectacular!
Book 2 of this series explores the dispair of Eden as she was rejected out of the dream realm. It was full of wonderful lessons for mistakes we make that help one realize even a seemingly hopeless situation isn't always as hopeless as it seems.
I really enjoyed reading this wonderful book! This has wonderful characters and a wonderful plot! I had a hard time putting this wonderful book down! I will be reading the next book in this wonderful series!
This book starts out slow, but gets good fast. It really is a book about finding out who you are, and stopping those who are in your way. Basically a good vs evil saga, that is worth the time. I highly recommend this book for those who are lost, and are trying to find themselves
Eden is a great character; she represents, interestingly enough, what many of us in the United States and other countries might be feeling: a sense of misplaced identity. Despite this being a fairytale and fantasty, readers can connect with Eden's search for belonging. Although others attempt to control and misguide her, and although various individuals attempt to tell her sho she is and where she belongs, she in spite of this knows who she wants to be. And frankly? I think that's beautiful, and THAT is what is most important. Just like Eden, we all have the agency and autonomy to decide who we want to be and how we identify. From there, it's just a matter of finding friends like Darius: individuals who will stand by us, value us, because they see us for who we want to be. This novel has a good amount of all things suspensful: some drama, a lot of character growth, swoon-worthy romance, and wonderful lines. Insomnia is eagerly anticipated!!
