“What you were feeling before wasn’t my love. It was fear. My fear hurt you.” Jahkoy Jeffers Guilt ridden from the death of his delinquent cousin Jahkoy denies himself of all things good— Love included. Years after he pushed IliAnn away, he never expected to see her again until fate relocated her to his city. Every emotion he ever suppressed reemerges the second he sees her, but so much has changed, like the fact that she belongs to someone else. IliAnn is a boss lady with an employee mindset. She’s ready to live her dream, but she’s forced to lie to enjoy it. Dating was the last thing on her mind. The moment she’s ready to give up on the façade of love from her childhood, the one who she gave her all to returns. Only he wants nothing to do with her. Two souls damaged by life desperately search for their happy ending. Envy, insecurity, and fear lurk in the shadows determined to uproot any signs of peace IliAnn and Jahkoy find. This may be their last chance to collect unanswered prayers, but will their love be worth it?
I thoroughly enjoyed Jahkoy and IliAnn story, it was very empowering. I have been fond of your writing style since I read the first book by you years back. It is the same as far as all the parts that other romance authors present in their books, for example, sex scenes, drama, villains, etc. but yours appears more intensified. You can just tell by the conversations and thoughts of your characters, you literally become one with them. Their thoughts are quite realistic and reading them you can feel the characters emotions.
This book was also extremely empowering and I loved it. For Jahkoy and IliAnn to both pursue their dreams without having the encouragement and acknowledgement they needed was exemplary. The way you (Ms. Edwards) displayed it throughout the book it was not always the acknowledgement from others, but the one they each needed for themselves. They both needed to break down insecurities and just follow their dreams. Once they both did every aspect of their lives fell into place.
This is a magnificent read and I really enjoyed it from start to finish. I most definitely recommend it. It will take you on a journey of love that we all are seeking in one way or another. It will also have you as the reader evaluating pursuing your dreams.
This was a hard book to make it through. The characters were mentally weak and super insecure and it really bothered me. Initially Ann was described as supportive and loving to a fault but I only saw confusing examples of selfishness and weakness, and I truly thought her reaction to Newman was pitiful and completely out of left field, and the lie she told her mother......ridiculous! It’s like the characters were described as one way but wound up being another way.....liked the author starting writing ,took a long break and forgot the original character descriptions. This is just my opinion. Hopefully many others will enjoy it. Best wishes.
Illann and Jahkoy.....what can I say....loved lost then found...when you are afraid...fear holds you back....fear, doubt, remorse, and guilt held Ann and Jahkoy back from One other. Both knew in their hearts whatever their dreams were, what career they wanted, what relationship they wanted but they cast doubt and let past pain hinder their ability to live life, successfully, fully. Once they embraced the possibilities, leaned on God for understanding, healing, love, well, everything fell into place...all you need is faith... And I pray....Brava!
Jahkoy and iliAnn both had me side eyeing them at different points of the book. The power of straight forward communication is empowering and freeing, along with self love and self acceptance which both Jah and Ann had to learn the heartbreaking way. Everyone should have a friend like Santana too, she had Ann back 1000%. They both learned it's impossible to step I to the future with the monkey of the past on your back. It was a good book overall.
What ever happened to therapy. Jahkoy and Ann both intensive therapy. They are the neediest couple ever. They were the worse and IlliAnne more so. She was so weak to me, the two of them together just made me want to throw up in my mouth. Whatever happen to likable characters. This book was truly a waste of time.
Jahcoy and IlliAnn's story is so beautifully written. Their love was true. Time, location and people couldn't come between that. While they both had issues and obstacles to overcome, the fact that they rooted for each other was heartwarming.
Not my cup of tea! The repetitive going back and forth was exhausting. The way the book was presented is not accurate. Ann was so content with her life but would not do nothing to pursue JBoo.
The story was good. It should have been called insecurities. First off let me preface the rating by saying I liked the story. That being said , J Boo was an annoying name for a man. The whining and back n forth was killing me. I prayed for an end to their misery.
