Tuck & Run

Can some discipline help to heal this little's broken heart...

Tucker

I had it all planned out.
Step 1: Find a man to love me.
Step 2: Get married.
Step 3: Live happily ever after.

As you might have guessed, that didn’t happen.

What I got instead was a man who pretended to be fine with the things I liked. He pretended to love me in hopes to use me to climb the social ladder.

His betrayal leaves me a shell of the man I used to be. When I meet someone who promises to make me feel again, to help me break out of the darkness I’ve fallen into, I tell myself I can play along. What else could possibly go wrong?

Patrick
The first time I saw him, I knew.
He’d be the perfect boy for me.
But then I saw that ring on his finger.
And my hopes were dashed.

When I find out that the man who’s been filling my dreams is finally free of the cheating liar he’d been tied down to, I wait patiently to make my move. But Tucker’s hurt is deeper than anyone realizes.

I promise him that he’ll be able to feel again with me. I don’t promise sonnets or love – just some spankings and to take care of his.. appetite. They do say the best way to get over someone is to…

The only problem is that I find myself wanting more than I should. As our time together changes me, I realize I'd been very, very wrong before.

Will Tucker’s heart heal enough to let Patrick in? Or will his past keep him from moving forward?

I’m more than irritated with this author and this series. This is the 3rd book in the series and the 2nd that claimed to be about age play. Wrong. Once again, it feels like a bait and switch. Between this series and the Pen Pal series, there are at least 7 books that should be about age play and they are at most age play light. I was anticipating their week together and there was only one day devoted to age play. Ugh either the author has zero experience with age play/Dd/lb or they are using the buzz around daddy kink to sell their books.

The book needs some proofreading and editing. Lewis takes Tucker for breakfast in the morning, but Tucker and Patrick both say tonight at some point in the scene. This is another book in this series that a name miss used as well.

It’s exasperating and disappointing. Stop saying books are age play when they are not. You write light kink. Ain’t nothing wrong with that. This bait and switch stuff is disrespectful to readers.

Good premise and interesting characters but it often felt stilted.

I liked the idea behind the book and the characters (at least in concept) were good. Unfortunately I found the writing was often stilted and that translated to dialogue that didn’t feel very natural. The beginning and end were particularly problematic. The timeline in the beginning was very hard to keep track of (timings as far as each perspective was concerned and how much time had passed). It ended up meaning that the first 25% or so felt really disjointed. The ending also felt very much like the author just wanted to finish the book. The week they spent together was borderline an outline. Very little detail and, in all honesty, the book would have been better if it had been removed. I’m mostly just disappointed as this could have been a great book and just ended up being a bit blah.

Still on the Fence

It’s like you’re watching the author improve with each installation. Hella better than the previous ones. Yes, there were still grammatical errors, but minimal in comparison. Yes, there was still an issue with things not matching what was stated in the previous book (example: in H&B Patrick stated he had signed a lease for a condo at the picnic Tucker wasn’t at. In this one, same picnic he said he was still in a hotel and throughout the rest of the book he was in a hotel). Might be nit picky but again, these things matter to a reader.

I’ve been wanting to read Tucker and Patrick’s story since I saw them in Bailey. For the most part, I wasn’t disappointed. The story was super sweet. Now that I’ve read most of the stories with characters who were mentioned in that book, I’ll have to go back and skim over that one again.

Tucker was introduced in this series as Miguel’s assistant in The New Hire. He’s a little sweetheart who you can’t help but love. He was funny and flirty, and just downright adorable. He was also engaged to a cheating bastard who was caught by Lewis in Hot & Bothered. After said bastard was called out by both Tucker and Miguel – who made it a mission to make the man’s life a living hell – Tucker closed in on himself. He still went to work and did what he was supposed to do, but his home life was pretty sad. This changes when Lewis shows up at his place unannounced and forces him to not so much snap out of it, but to clean up and leave with him for a little while for breakfast. Lewis also learns some things about Tucker – he’s a little, and he’s been forced to keep that part of his life to himself because of the jerk he was engaged to. With Tucker being a little in need of a Daddy, Lewis knows just what to do to help him get over the jerk.

Patrick has moved to town to help Mateo and Lewis open the members only section of their new club, Club Deny. A Daddy, he’s an expert in all things BDSM, and is the perfect person for the job.

When Tucker’s application is pushed through as a favor to Mateo and Lewis, they set up a meeting between Tucker and Patrick, and the rest (for the most part) is history.

I’m going to go ahead and throw this out there… the books in this series are mostly billed as Daddy/boy books with a lot being supposedly about age play. What I’ve seen so far – even if the blurbs say so – have been stories with almost none or very little actual age play. Sure, it’s mentioned, and the ‘little’ aspect of some of the characters is considered part of their personalities or whatever, but there’s really not much on page. Having sex in a ‘little’ room without doing all the other stuff like playing with toys, etc. does not really make it that type of book. I don’t care what the blurb says. In this one, Tucker does show Patrick his stuffies, and he even uses his ‘little’ food utensils, etc. for one meal, but I never saw him really falling into ‘little’ space. I’m personally okay with that in this case because some age play books are major overkill, but I feel like the blurbs are extremely misleading.

I liked Tucker and Patrick together, though Tucker went from being down in the dumps and ‘unable to feel’ to jumping right into a Daddy/boy relationship with Patrick without missing a beat. This whole series has some SERIOUS insta-love, which I’ve learned to expect with each book I read. But I found it rather odd that Tucker changed in the blink of an eye when he met Patrick.

I’ve loved Patrick since the first time he was introduced way back when.

Even with what I mention above, I enjoyed the story. The entire series is SO unrealistic, but I knew that going in after reading the other books before this one. I’ll likely read the rest of the series because I’ve kind of gotten invested in a lot of the characters, but I will say that the love-at-first-sight with every single one of these couples is getting a little tiring. I’m all about insta-love if written right, but these guys (like Tucker) are going from one extreme to another way too fast, in my opinion. But then again, Miguel in The New Hire took insta-love to an all new level, so maybe the others aren’t quite so bad. :)

Tucker had a plan for his life and it was on track until the man he chose was shown up as a liar and a cheat who was only using him to climb the social ladder. Since then Tucker has been a shell of the man he used to be and needs someone to break him out of the darkness. Patrick knew the first time he saw Tucker that he was the perfect boy for him but at the time he wasn't available. When he realises he is now free he waits until it becomes apparent that his hurt is far deeper than anyone thought. After promising that Tucker will be able to feel again and spanking changes Patrick into wanting just Tucker in any way he can have him if only his heart will let him in.

I enjoyed this story with the betrayal, the hurt, the friends who did whatever it took to break him out, and the man who was devoted to bringing him back to life. It was lovely to read of the slow steps that were taken to help him cry and then be capable of smiling again. I was thrilled when he was able to be everything that they both needed for their HEA. Easy to read, feel and understand. This is an MM story with mature content in a BSDM-like DDLB relationship with edging and spanking.

Many years ago I've read a fantasy book about a girl who was transported into another world. Animals there where different but her familiar wanted to be smth cute and fluffy from her world. Originally in spirited form he looked through her memories and choose a form of a fox. But he got confused as he was sure that he is a cat. And through all 4 books it was like '- But you are a fox! - Nooo, I'm a kitty!'
Here we have the same with a Little and a Daddy who is sadist as we were warned in the previous book. Because yeah, five hand slaps is a really hardcore and sadistic bdsm play. Pat broke up with his last Little because the boy wanted praise and it's not his thing and yet 'good boy' was on every page here.
No age play is actually ok with me, I prefer classical d/s dynamic. But why on earth authors are so afraid to write about it? And even if they write about it a Dom is always a caregiver/Daddy.

Tuck and Run

I enjoyed this story about Tucker, Miguel’s assistant, and Patrick, Mateo’s friend and the manager of the Members Only area of Club Deny. Patrick had an instant attraction to Tucker but Tucker was engaged at the time. After the relationship ended, they meet at the club and the attraction is mutual. Most of the rest of the book is made up of scenes as Tucker is introduced to the world of kink. I would have liked more no sexual story about their personalities and backgrounds, and more daddy/little time, but I still enjoyed the story and getting to meet more of the group of friends around the club, and the HEA was sweet. Looking forward to the next book!

Sweet but missing something

I enjoyed Tucker and Patrick’s story. It’s very sweet and a bit angsty, but I have to admit I was expecting something different. I was all set for a fun bratty little, which is what Patrick supposedly always wanted, but Tucker either isn’t as feisty as expected or he was too beaten down from his experience with his ex to be his true self. Also, there were quite a few grammar errors that could have been resolved with better editing

Cute daddy story.

Not a lot of age play here but it is mentioned. Tucker was needing an out. Hos relationship wasn't sounding so good in the last book. Patrick sound like a interesting person with his back ground in the bdsm and being a daddy. Ends up being what Tucker is looking for. Yummy.

It was okay. The pacing was a bit too fast for me, actual conflict was nowhere to be found. I feel like we could've explored Tucker's issue more, this could've been a longer book and it would be understandable. In the end, it just felt like the author wanted to get it over with. Definitely had potential but it just became forgettable.

Ok

I generally like the series. The books are good for the beach or a quick light read. The editing for continuity could be better. There were mistakes like wrong names, or leaving info out that stopped the "flow" in this one.

Poor Tuck!

The jerk that hurt Tuck deserves everything Miguel did to him. He didn't deserve someone as awesome as Tuck. I am glad that Patrick was able to find his perfect person.

Fun, sweet and sexy series. Books could be read as stand-alone but better in order as the MC's show up in each other's stories.

I don’t know how or why I haven’t read this series before. It’s so good. Now I have more to match with when any of these guys are brought up.

These two! I really liked how they showed Patrick’s interest in Tucker (even if he didn’t know who he was at the time) but didn’t pursue him when he realized he was in a relationship. I loved getting to see him be so protective, loving, and supportive when the time came that Tucker needed him.

There are still some grammatical errors, misnamed characters, and some lack of continuity between this book and its predecessor, but overall, this book is much better edited than the first one in the series. I wish the week they spent together for Tucker's Sub 101 classes had been expanded, and that there would have been more time shown when Tucker was in Little space. However, the emotional healing in this book was great, and the character development was decent, so it's a four star read for me.
