I got into the guild… but that was just the beginning.

Imprisoned for attempting to kill a dangerous vampire, I finally gained my freedom after years of suffering. Now, I’ve been sent to the Guild of Assassins where I must succeed or lose my freedom once more.

But nothing is that easy.

The three men I’ve vowed to kill have been keeping secrets. Secrets about me. I need to discover the truth behind their lies, even if it destroys me.

I’ll ignore the wolf shifter with his intense stares. The man who oozes arrogance. And the vampire royal who wants me as his own. Even if it destroys me.

Yet enemies I never imagined existed are tracking me, and the only chance I have at surviving might be to work with the three men I hate.

It won’t be easy, but I’ve been a princess and a prisoner, now I just needed to stay alive.

MERCY'S REVENGE is a steamy paranormal reverse harem with a kickbutt heroine. This is a whychoose romance, meaning that our heroine doesn't have to choose between her guys.

I totally called the "secret" species of the FMC Mercy in the previous book. But anyways, I think this is the end of the road for me for this series.

I had so many issues with the main characters' roles as supposedly amazing top-tier assassins who but kept getting their asses kicked. The guild rules were also kind of dumb tbh, with kicking out recruits that failed just once rather than giving them multiple chances to learn and improve. Additionally, the lack of character and real relationship development between everyone was frustrating. All the back stories had finally been mostly filled in in a very dry manner through dialogue, but I still didn't really feel any deep romance between the men and Mercy. It was just assumed that they were lusting for each other from past childhood friendship, and any intimate scenes were impetuous and in the moment. Any secrets that remained still were just tip-toed around from all the point of views to keep it a mystery for the reader, rather than a mystery for just a single character.

Honestly, I have found Andersen's series in general to be full of action but very one-dimensional characters and relationships, and I've abandoned most of her series halfway out of boredom and lack of connection to the characters. I will likely only continue to follow her Monsters and Gargoyles series to the end due to curiosity, but I think I'll pass on any other books and series.

It's been a while since the first book in this series came out. However, I also read epic fantasy and loads of regular published books, so I'm used to waiting a little longer sometimes. It's also been a while since I've read a book by Andersen. I've become a little picky when it comes to arcs, because I want to know for sure that I will most likely love them. However, when I got my arc for this second book I was quite excited to get started!

This book quite clearly doesn't suffer the middle book syndrome. On the contrary. It's action packed and emotionally interesting from the very start and it only stops being interesting long after the last page of the story. There's constantly something going on, there are constantly new revelations and the pasts of the characters is starting to haunt them. If you liked the first book in this series, you're for sure gonna love this second book.

That's also because Andersen knows how to build her characters. Because of the multiple points of view we really get to know all these characters quite well, especially because Andersen really uses their inner monologues to show their personalities and personal challenges and struggles. It also means that it's easy to root for these characters, to care about them and to understand why they're doing what they're doing.

Of course I don't want to give too many spoilers away in this review, but I quite liked the reveal of what made Mercy so special. Especially because it's quite clear that in this case being special is not really a good thing and a horrible fate might be waiting for Mercy. Since Mercy is only beginning to understand everything, I'm quite sure we'll learn and discover loads more in the next book in the series and I'm already really looking forward to it!

Some improvement from book 1. I continue to find the FMC bratty but some headway was made towards a “romantic relationship”. I’m happy the books were free. 2 stars

Oh my

I think I like this one even more than the first one. Mercy and her friends find even more danger for them because of her mysterious past and the fact that she knows nothing about it. I love the different pov from the characters. It is action packed from beginning to end. It's edge of your seat and will keep you turning page after page
I just finished with the audiobook, and I enjoyed it. The narrator does a great job

Loved it!

This book picks up in the aftermath of the attack on the guild, and the strange impact it had on Mercy. We learn a lot in this book about who and what Mercy is, and the fact that the guys have known this for a while but chose not to tell her. You can feel Mercy's frustration that they are trying to protect her, but not allowing her full knowledge to understand herself, and the guys so struggle with this as well. As for the ending, I thought we were getting a HEA, or at least HFN, right until the last page! Can't wait to see what Mercy ultimately decides and the impact it has!

Lacey Carter Andersen has done it again! What a great job the second book in the Guild of Assassins series is! This book picks up right where Mercy's Revenge left off. Mercy is running from a hellhound, the guys trying to protect her, and Rian discovering a secret about Mercy that even she doesn't know.

Mercy is determined to find out what the guys are hiding, she knows they are hiding something though they remain tight-lipped. The guys are holding on tight to their secret and it is only by chance that they let Rian in on it, but they remain stubborn when it comes to Mercy. Tensions are running high all around, what with the assassination/kidnapping attempts on Mercy, the attack on the Guild, and the revelations about all three of our guys.

There is so much that goes on in Mercy's Fall, I am still wrapping my head around it all! The characters really grow and become even more exciting in this book. Lacey really knows how to build a world as well. You feel really transported into another world whilst reading this and let me tell you, you never want to leave!! I could not put this book down and I urge you to pick it up as well. A really great read!

Lacey Carter Andersen has done it once again as Mercy’s Fall is a full on action packed, emotional roller coaster of a read that is so amazing you can’t help but devour this book in one sitting!!! With one crisis, battle, catastrophe or mind blowing secret revelation right after another you can’t help but fall in love with this story and all of its amazing kick butt characters!

This story picks right up after the first book left off, with Mercy once again fighting for her life and having to make a decision…though luckily her choice literally lands her right into the arms of her protectors. When missions go awry, walls are finally lowered, secrets become revealed and connections finally have a chance to build—which is a good thing because it’s literally one crisis after another for our fierce group of assassins and their prince so they’re going to need to trust one another along their journey.

I love all the little hidden threads Lacey masterfully weaves throughout the story, hinting at some major revelations around Mercy’s origins and the pasts of her men, as well as new threats and conflicts with outside sources and possibly even some old characters from Mercy’s past coming back. The true question is are they her allies or are they new enemy threats? Can she trust them or will it once again lead her down a path of pain and betrayal? Luckily this time she has her 3 hot and sexy guys by her side so her odds are a little bit better. Because with all the enemies hunting her down, she’s going to need it…

“And even though we have a chance to save her right now, I don’t know that Mercy will ever be safe again.”

And let me just say, I absolutely love Mercy! She's fierce, relatable, resilient, spunky and doesn’t ever give up. She always stays true to her self, yet in this book we see her start to really evolve as a character and open up with her willingness to accept and forgive the guys and I love that about her.

Overall this book is a definite must read that’s full of drama, action, mystery, intrigue, secrets, enemies and of course some hot and steamy scenes leaving you gasping for more. And that ending?!? I am literally dying for the next book because once again, in true Lacey fashion, that ending will have you screaming for more!!! What is Mercy willing to sacrifice and what decision is she going to make?!? Mercy’s Rise cannot come soon enough!

Lacey Carter Anderson has done a great job with the second book in the Guild of Assassins series, Mercy's Fall was fantastic. The story picks up right where Mercy's Revenge left off with Mercy running from a hellhound, the guys trying to protect her, and Rian discovering a secret about Mercy that she doesn't even know. This book sure did keep up the pace with the action and the revelations in this one.

I read this book pretty quickly. The story centered more on Mercy, the guys, and a few revelations than the assassins guild. Mercy is determined to find out what the guys are hiding, the guys are trying to figure out what to do although half the time they blame Mercy, for what I don't know, I mean they are the ones that screwed things up for her. Tensions are high all around especially with the assassination/kidnapping attempts on Mercy, the revelation of what Bash is, Ares's past (things about his dad and former pack) is finally revealed and Rein's murderous familial politics is actually explained. All this was very interesting stuff including major discovery about Mercy was revealed which I figured out a couple of pages before the big reveal, truth be told all the signs pointed to it if you were paying attention not to mention something shady is happening with the guild. Somehow through all of that Mercy and the guys managed to mend things between them and Mercy. Honestly, Ares, I'm totally game for, the guy is a sweetheart the other two I'm still in the air about. Some things were mentioned in Mercy's past like a friend that I'm hoping she sees again and I would love to know the full story behind Mercy's birth. Especially since the more I hear from Beauty and Beast (her parents) the more I dislike them, they are far from fairytale characters.

A lot happens in Mercy's Fall, they still don't know who is after Mercy, they have suffered through a few battles but things are far from over. Also, what's going on at the guild? Where is Mercy's father? So many more questions, including a big one Mercy, asked herself at the end of Mercy's Fall and I'm looking forward to the answer in Mercy's Rise, the final book in Mercy's story.

I have been waiting what feels like forever for this book. Impatiently I must add. I can honestly say the wait was well worth it. This book was a roller coaster ride right from the start. I’d also like to mention this is book two and I definitely recommend reading book one and/or the prequel too! Both gives you so much more of the different sides of each story.

As always LCA blew me away with her writing. It captured me from the get go and I’m still reeling from what I read. It’s flowed wonderfully and held my attention. I do want to warn you there is quite a massive cliffhanger. And what a cliffhanger it is!

Mercy is back and better than ever! I absolutely love her. She’s not afraid to tell you how it is, and her wise cracks are hilarious. She does have some growth in this book which was great to see. Rain, our vampire prince, shows his true intentions towards Mercy although he kind of screws it up. To my surprise he grows up a tad and becomes a little more of the prince his father wants him to be. He stops thinking about himself and starts thinking about those he loves. Ares, our big loves or shifter. He literally took my heart in this book and has yet to give it back. He lacks confidence but he’s loyal, fierce, and never backs down. And our stubborn, crabby, Bash. Bash and Mercy literally remind me of an old married couple. Their banter and bickering have me literally laughing out loud each time. They are so much alike.

This book has so much in it. We finally see a little of the politics Rian has to deal with on a daily basis. Between his father and the guild there’s quite a lot too. We see that Rian isn’t a complete jerk face. Ares is confronted with his fathers past and boy is it a doozy. We finally learn more about Bash and his supernatural self, as well as his family life. And Mercy finally finds out what she is! And man is it good. There’s epic battles, enemies galore, secret enemies pulling strings, the vampire castle, and so much more!

I honestly NEED book 3. It can’t come soon enough.

Mercy’s Fall is the second book in Lacey Carter Andersen’s Guild of Assassins series. Book two picks up where book one left off with things off to a volatile start at the guild. An attack, Mercy being killed, and as if the hits need to keep coming...a hellhound is on the loose and it’s target? Mercy. But it seems that there are wheels turning the background as things are only going to get worse from her for Mercy and her men. Let’s just hope that they can get their act together and work through the looming issues from their secrets.
Mercy’s Fall is another mixed bag of a book for me, until the characters iron a few things out and finally get on the same page. I enjoy snarky characters as much as the next person, but Mercy really takes things overboard simply by always wanting to irritate people. I get that she has her issues, but when she keeps pushing the guys’ buttons especially I just want to give her a hard shake and say “stop being an idiot!” There are a lot of ups and downs, and I feel that some of the trouble that they find themselves in is because Mercy drags things out just to be irritating.
Things do get better between the characters which is a...mercy. LOL! I just need Mercy to stop being a petulant child. Yeah, I said it. But things are ending with book three?! How?? The author stretches out revealing what Mercy is which drove me crazy. Lol! But I don’t see how things are going to get wrapped up with book three. I’m eager for it though so we’ll see what happens because honestly...I smell a big trap and a bigger twist.
I’m rating this book 4.5 out of 5 stars.

I don't think that the cliffhanger in the end was a good idea. It could be just me, but it made me not want to read the next book; I just know that she's going to do something super stupid.

I found this book full of contradictions
- Mercy is super cocky about so many things, but at the same time she is really insecure. In the first book she was afraid that she wouldnt be good enough, but know she was so sure of herself.
- We keep getting told about what the guild of assassins stand for, but what were told just really goes against what we actually experience of the Guild.

In this book the Guild is attacked by a new enemy. The Guild send Bash, Ares, and Mercy to the enemy to take revenge. While they are on the road they talk about what they know about the enemy and what the plan is. You basically go from: we dont know anything about who this new big enemy could be, to: a few days later they have given us our targets and where to find them. How did they get this information? Why not show us that progress? Show us what they actually learn at this Guild of Assassins. You cant just say "we've found all this info and we are already on our way to kill them".

Again only 150 pages.

Never saw that coming! Mercy’s Fall is emotionally charged, action packed goodness from beginning to end. Mercy learns some answers concerning her heritage and her past but there’s much more to go.

The guys are still keeping secrets and she can’t help but feel a stab of betrayal knowing they know things about her – who and what she is – and are willingly keeping her in the dark. Aside from this complication they have come to a sort of truce and start working with each other to mend their relationships and rekindle more. In the midst of a mission gone wrong, Mercy’s life is on the line and with a failed mission, she’s kicked out of the Guild leaving her in the open and exposed to imminent danger. With no other choice Rian, Ares, and Bash leave the academy and take her to the safety of Rian’s home for protection and hopefully to rebuild their relationships and help Mercy find the answers she needs. Just when she thinks she could be happy and feel safe, an unexpected and frantic call changes everything.

Secrets, deceit, betrayal, pain, and anger balance with mystery, suspense, action, danger, and steam. I enjoyed finally seeing them all together working as a team and learning more about them individually as well. I loved the twists and turns and can’t wait to see where those lead in the next book.

Maybe I’m just not a series girl cause it seems like lately I just can’t find a series that keeps me interested. This book just got so much worse. Ares I swear to god if I had to hear him bitch and moan about his pathetic life and Mercy not loving him one more time I was going to loose it. The TSTL in this book was STRONG. That’s why I won’t be reading the last book. The characters were annoying each in their own way (except maybe Rian). But the dumb decisions these super smart and talented assassins make is mind boggling. From her running back TOWARDS danger bc her dad calls her name (a man who appears to have the ability to project his image- here’s a hint the dude wasn’t there), to taking the time to fuck one of the guys off the side of the road (the same road they used to get to their assassination target while they were being pursued) to debating whether she should tell these men she’s going on a suicide mission I’m just done. Frankly I hope she goes to rescue people by herself and gets killed. It’s obviously a trap and the dumbass deserves it. Maybe then the 3 other dumbass sniffing around her pussy like it’s something special can move on with their pathetic lives.

Interesting

I’m not sure how to feel about this book. I enjoyed the multiple pov. We get more insight to Mercy’s history and who she truly is. I’m not sure if I would accept her friends after what they put her through. They have no idea what she went through, and being told to fight side by side with her in a mission doesn’t make what they did ok. I like Rian though. Sure he ran away immediately after they went at it like cats n dogs but it wasn’t anything like her so called friends did to her, under the guise of “protecting” her. Pfft. It just doesn’t feel like natural flow of emotions on a normal person, paranormal or not. They need to know her “parents” aren’t there to protect her, if anything they will throw her in front of danger and run away. Cowards. I’m glad I got to read her finally speaking up against them, although I think maybe it just have her “dad” the moment to truly show her what a beast he really is. Guess we will see how this is played out. I would rate this 3.5 stars if I could.

Oh my it seems the whole world is against Mercy! Someone is determined to get her removed from the Guild sending her on essentially a suicide mission where everything that could go wrong does go wrong 😖
Not only that but she discovers what supernatural she actually is (with no help from her men who actually know 😠) and it’s an awful future that lies ahead of her and one she would not escape from should anyone else discover what she is 😩
Despite this and some serious feelings of betrayal, Mercy begins to work through her feelings with Bash and Ares - there a connection between them that the cannot deny and is cemented once they chose Mercy above all else! And Rian is just entirely besotted but unfortunately makes some mistakes running from his feelings but he comes good in the end 😍
Then Mercy has an awful decision to make right at the very end, continue in her own path or trust these newly formed relationships….. looking forward to seeing how that goes ok the next one!

Good

**WARNING! CLIFFHANGER!** this time it’s a life changing not a life threatening one.

Beginning where book one’s cliffhanger left off, we find Mercy and her frenemies at the Assassin’s guild. The men are keeping secrets from her, but it’s not long before she has figured everything out. And it is not long before she, and two of her men, are faced with life threatening events…

Although the story is well told, Mercy is still not the most likeable of characters. I will freely admit, however, that this has a lot to do with how little I have in common with the character.
Still, Mercy goes through a lot. There are revelations of secrets, are plots are exposed and seen through.
As for romantic plots, those are mostly on track too, despite a few missteps here and there.
There are some intriguing sub-plots, and mysterious background stories that make for an interesting read.
An enjoyable quick read for RH fantasy fans.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "MERCY'S FALL" What a wild rollercoaster ride of emotion, suspense, intrigue, secrets, lies, betrayal, angst, twists that make for a very addicting read.
Mercy running from a hellhound Ares, Rian & Bash trying to protect her she gets hit with death flames the guts are frantic she won't survive no mortal has survived.
Ares, Bash & Rian are keeping secrets from Mercy & she p*ssed they won't tell her lots happens in this story so much chaos their dominating Alpha's you learn some of their secrets will Marcy forgive them.
I definitely recomnend to get this mind-blowing adventure with a cluffhanger that will blow you away I can't wait for book 3 to see what's going happen next this definitely won't disappoint you can't put down until you hit the cliffhanger now its a wait.

I am loving this series. Mercy is a character I want to hug at the same time as shout at. She has had nothing but rejection and bad decisions, but its not surprising with the way she was brought up, but the rejection from Bash and Ares really shattered any trust she may have. She frustrates me so much, but she's still likeable.
Now at the Assassins academy, she's determined to look after herself and get out quickly, but so many things she believed have turned out to be lies.
I love Rian, I think he's perfect for her, just the right balance of deadly but loveable.
Ares and Bash have a lot to make up for but their heart is in the right place.
The cliffhanger at the end is a killer, especially after everything she's found out. And depending on which way she goes, will definitely determine if I still like her or not - she has to make the right choice surely.

The second story in Guild of Assassins has been a long time coming and I really enjoyed it. It took me a hot second to remember the previous book but after a quick read of the last few chapters of book one, I got back on track. Mercy has been rejected by most people for her entire life, the only people who didn't were Bash and Ares. There's a lot of things about Mercy that she doesn't know, but she's slowly learning about them in this book and some of them even come as a surprise even to her.

I love all the guys in this story, they all care for Mercy in their own way. Though admittedly, Rian is a bit of an idiot at times. He's the prince, but he does like to put himself in some precarious positions. We also get to learn more about some of the other characters, as well as their past, catching up on them.

Can't wait for the next book!

You know, I really have to give it to Lacey, she is one of the few out of my favorite authors, that manages to gut punch me with cliff hangers almost every single time. She may not know it, but we have a love/hate relationship. Or maybe she does know, and is sitting at her writing desk cackling every time she finishes a book. However. Despite those cliff hangers leaving me reeling, the books are still amazing. This one is no exception. The danger and intrigue in the book draw you in. This book was amazing, and definitely not lacking in action. Mercy and her men are all well rounded and developed, and show so much growth through the book. The plot is phenomenal and I can’t wait to find out what happens next. There are so many heartbreaking moments, shocking moments, and heartfelt conversations, you can’t help but get sucked in.

The second book in the Guild of Assassins series is no less packed than book one, and full of revelations... which sometimes raise more questions. Mercy is developing her skills further, but not only that. Thanks to the hellhound incident and the battle she finally figures out what she is, learns about her father, gets on a dangerous mission, and manages to figure out where can the relationship with Rian, Bash, and Ares go. There is even finally a fragile balance established when everything is thrown off-balance again, and Mercy is standing in front of a big decision.
I enjoyed this read et extra fast speed. The story was full of action, sass, tension, and some heated moments. There were scenes where I wanted to slap someone as well as those where I wanted to hand out free hugs. The series is a rollercoaster and the ending promises even more of that.

This is where I stop with this series. The first book was decent and held my attention enough for me to grab this one. About 70% and I was bored and annoyed but I pushed through and finished. It feels disjointed in a way. Like, the story has a lot of moving pieces but their connections are weak. I don’t know if that really makes sense to anyone else lol The author tried to keep pieces a secret to be revealed to the reader later on but the big secret really wasn’t a surprise… Mercy is honestly just annoyingly irritating. She is of course one of a kind and smarter than the boys and better than other girls… sooooo special.. . Bash is an ass. Rian seems to lack some basic critical thinking skills. Ares is okay but he feels kind of like an afterthought character. Maybe I’m just grumpy today idk. I might try again at a later date but for now, I’m done with this series.

A thrilling addition

Mercy, a human with unique parents, has survived quite a few mishaps since she has started at the Assassins Guild under the mentorship of Rian, a vampire prince, and two of his guards, Ares and Bash. As the story progresses getting through an attack seems easy, a dark secret kept divides the group, and after learning a very hard truth she may just decide to throw caution to the wind. Mercy’s Fall by Lacey Carter Andersen is a thrilling addition to her Guild of Assassins series. There are some ugly truths in this one that causes some further tension between the characters leaving me waiting eagerly for the finale.

I read this book with my Kindle Unlimited subscription and I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.

Looking forward to book 3

It's been a while since book one, i remember I was on the edge of my seat at the end of it and desperate for this one.

Overall it was an enjoyable book, there was so much action which was great but I felt the relationship stuff happened a bit quickly with the three of them after everything we've learnt and after all the stuff in book one. I would have liked a slower build up to have felt their relationship more than read about it.

It was nice to have some questions answered about Mercy's past but there are still some questions that need answering.

I'll definitely be checking out book three because I still want answers.

I loved Mercy she has horrible parents she gave them so many chances for them to treat her right but it does no good. Mercy is in the guild of assassins and when the guild gets attacked Mercy gets hit by death flames from a Hellhound and the guys Ares, Bash and Rian are frantic that she won’t survive no mortal ever has but they are keeping secrets from Mercy and she is furious that they won’t tell her. Talk about exciting I can’t wait to read the next book in this series, I loved this story it’s a fantastic read but it’s not a standalone so you do need to read book 1 to understand what’s going on and I highly recommend this book/ series.

This book is full of mysteries, action, secrets and some quality steamy scenes. I read it out of breath, it captured my entire attention and didn’t let go till last page. It brought Lots of revelations and insight into past of our characters. And what characters are they. They are so realistic, with flaws, struggles. Each with its own personality and emotions. Mercy is a real shining character. She is strong. She believes in herself. I love her so much. But with cliffhanger of this magnitude.. I think I will suffer from withdrawal until part 3 come out. Honestly it have everything to be your favorite series.

This book jumps into the storyline where the first book left off--Mercy having to fall from her bedroom window to avoid the hellhound chasing her. Rian, Ares, and Bash are so ha dome and protective--along with being domineering Alpha's--in this book, and readers finally get to know some secrets of theirs and Mercy's that Anderson has been keeping! My favorite scenes are when Mercy and Ares are alone in the car and then are attacked by wolves. My favorite man has to be Ares, and I can't wait for the happily ever after with them all, especially him! Just when we think things are going great, bam, Mercy has to make a new, terrible decision. I cannot wait for the third and final book!!

This book about broke me! I loved following Sparrow in the circus and seeing an interesting twist. There is some dark and twisted parts but I absolutely loved every second of it.
I will say I was not a big fan of the King but.....
Rory really knocked this one out of the park and you will be gripping the edge of your seat and falling in love with these characters. Each of the men have their own ability and you slowly delve deeper into them and no of them have easy or good pasts. Sparrows performance as well just makes you feel like you are there watching it for yourself. I cannot wait to find out what happens next after that ending!!

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

Anderson is one of my fave authors so I was happy to jump all over this series. We catch back up with Mercy right after the attack on the guild. This opens the way for quite a few surprises as well as giving us the chance to learn more about who and what Mercy actually is. She was not happy about the guys knowing but not telling her which leads to all sorts of tense moments. It all works up to fabulous twist that ends with a cliff hanger. I am really looking forward to the next book to see what decision was made. A fabulous read. I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.

Excellent second book in the series. Rollercoaster of action and drama with a nice side of steamy romance. You can always count on this author to give you an exciting tale that keeps your interest from start to finish. Mercy is becoming a better and deeper FMC as the story goes and her men are hot and intriguing. Just when you thought they would have a moments peace to heal and find their balance as a group, the cliffhanger drops the ground out from under you. Can’t wait to read the next book. Definitely recommend.
