A team of heroes fights a stirring battle for the safety of the planet. A young woman struggles with desperation and despair, trying to cope in the modern world. But that’s only the beginning. Superstar creators MARK WAID (Kingdom Come, FANTASTIC FOUR) and COLLEEN DORAN (SPIDER-MAN, A Distant Soil) tell a tale of inspiration within inspiration, as we see how the world’s marvels have inspired others – and how they’ve been inspired themselves. Featuring Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel and a few surprises.
Mark Waid (born March 21, 1962 in Hueytown, Alabama) is an American comic book writer. He is best known for his eight-year run as writer of the DC Comics' title The Flash, as well as his scripting of the limited series Kingdom Come and Superman: Birthright, and his work on Marvel Comics' Captain America.
Single issue comic review- Like some of Waid’s work, many will take one look at this and call it a ‘woke’ comics.
That’s not seeing the big picture, though. At the heart of the story, it’s about getting through the anxieties of life, and if the way to get passed those is a superhero story, well, this one rings true, if you replace the superhero with any successful person or real life hero.
Yes, Waid writes the teenage Jenni like the 58 year old white man he is, but he knows his way around a story. Artist Clair Roe and the team behind her are the unsung heroes here, crafting a one-off tale that will stick in the reader’s mind for awhile.
MORE pandering! When, oh WHEN can this “woke” idiocy last? I understand comics are a business that needs to pander to costumers, but haven’t we had enough of it? Get on with the regular programming, teenagers will grow and they will stop being idiots “fighting” for irrelevant/wrong stuff!
