By the time I realize the breadth of the inferno he’s dragged us into, it’s too late—my heart is already his.
Time is against us. We must save our family and make sure we don’t end up burning alive in the process.
But can our love survive the dangerous firestorm into which we have been thrust?

High angst alert, Italian Mafia, Steamy M/M romance with lots of humor and intrigue BAM! This book starts off with Fiorenzo thinking about his desires in the bedroom and he hopes that get fulfilled by the older lumberjack who had been eyeing him all night. What a beginning to this book!!! Fiorenzo Rovelia, 26yo, self-professed slut is enjoying himself in a Canadian gay nightclub hoping for some action. As Fiorenzo flaunts himself, Derrick Matthews, 52yo, older and wiser lumberjack in his red flannel shirt pays very close attention. After their one-night stand (very HOT scene), they don’t expect to see one another again, but they have mutual associations which propels them into a long chase where they are the fox to the mafia’s hounds. Oh. My. Word. This story is HOT in all caps. Fiorenzo likes it “brutal” not just rough and Derrick is his man for it. Fiorenzo is running from the Giudice, Neapolitan mafia family to protect his remaining sister and himself. They are all that are left of the Rovelias. Derrick has a history that keeps him purposely unattached. Love it when they both have their self-awareness moment about past and present events. This is a standalone story, but is connected to the first book, DANGEROUSLY FRENCH in that the main characters are connected in a superficial way. But it gets much stranger as the book continues. The humor is off-the-charts especially when Emile is in any scene or Derrick has internal dialogue or he tries to help in his amateurish way. Truly entertaining story. My only problem was the continued reminder of his father and mother’s last moments. It must have been said close to a dozen times. Anyway, I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Gay Romance Reviews and I give it a humorously steamy 4.5 stars.
This is the second story in this series and it was another hit for me. Fiorenzo is a member of the Giudice family who runs the mafia in Naples, and he wants to get himself and his sister free of them by bringing the family down with evidence he stole. After travelling to Canada, to the people he thinks will help him, he meets Derrick, a lumberjack, who gets drawn into Fiorenzo’s fight and wants to helps him. It was a fast-paced story and full of well-rounded characters including some from the first book in the series. I found it easy to be drawn into the suspense of the MCs running from the mafia, to try and give the evidence Fiorenzo has to the right people. (I’m being vague but I don’t want to give any spoilers.) Add in the supporting characters who provided some fun moments and I really enjoyed this book and can recommend it as a great read. While characters from the first book are in this one too it can easily be read as a stand-alone as there is enough explanation to understand the previous characters, however, the first book is well worth reading too. I highly recommend this book and I’m eagerly looking forward to the next book in the series. I received an ACR copy of this book to review and this is my honest opinion.
This was an intriguing fast paced story with likable characters and with a deadly enemy on their tales. Derrick gets sucked into fiorenzo troubles but I think in the end he'd say it was worth it😍. This book didn't rest on its laurels it was one scene to another and steamy moments between. A good read, that was well written and flowed nicely to make it an entertaining story. I received this book by the author and this is my honest opinion
Holy moly!! This story grabs you right from the beginning! Loved Fiorenzo and Derrick! This was a quick, fast paced story with action and adventure and snark!! I loved the chemistry and connection between these two! I’m voluntarily reviewing from an advanced copy that I received.
Loved this book. Extremely fast paced seat of your pants ride from beginning to end. Fiorenzo a highstrung paranoid young man running from the Mafioso and Derrick a laid back slightly broken older Canadian man on the adventure of a lifetime. I received this book as an Advanced Readers
This fantastic book started with a bang, and took off on a wild, crazy, fast paced, action packed, smoking hot, amazing, hilarious, and totally awesome ride from there. I would definitely recommend getting this for yourself ASAP!
The action is plentiful in this book...and so is the snark! Fiorenzo is a certified brat but he grew on me the further into the book I got. And poor Derrick, the man is the definition of self-flagellation. Somehow this unlikely pair fit together. The action is pulse pounding and the steam factor is off the charts. While this book can standalone I recommend reading Dangerously French prior to this book to better understand the overall plot and the side characters.
Great add to the series. Loving these two and this universe. Can definitely can be read as a standalone since I didn't read book 1 and could still enjoy this, though now I do want to go back and read book 1. Fiorenzo and Derrick are really thrown together and grow from there. Their connection makes so much sense and grabs you from the start. Can't wait for the next.
Right in the beginning I am pulled right into this story. Fiorenzo and Derrick have great chemistry and the sparks are flying. This story is an adventure and I love being on it. I couldn't stop reading. This is such a great addition to this world and I can't wait to see what happens next.
Holy hotness, this book starts off with a bang. You meet Fiorenzo and learn a lot about him from the opening scene, but he soon meets Derrick and sparks fly. After a night together, a reticent Derrick is dragged into an adventure where both men learn how to let go of the past and accept what's right in front of them. It's a fast read, with lots of action, and an HEA that suits both Fiorenzo and Derrick!
A fast paced story that I really enjoyed. Big,Canadian lumberjack, Derrick, meets a beautiful young man who, after a steamy night together, drags him into a dangerous adventure. Will they be able to survive? Dive in to find out.
This story will take you on a wild ride with Italian mafioso’s, a French hotel heir and bodyguard and one slightly broken Canadian. With steamy sex and adventure our hero’s find redemption and love with each other. Very enjoyable!
This is a new to me and I must say very talented author. Her writing style and snarky humor made me think that this will be a page turner. Well, at least for me and I'm obviously in minority here, sadly it wasn't. I have certain expectations plot wise when I read a romantic suspense, action/adventure book and here's where the author didn't meet the expectations. Cutting the action scenes with overly long and repetitive introspective internal ramblings is not such a good idea. Stating the obvious over and over again is unnecessary and takes the reader out of the story. There are some plot holes that are just glossed over as an afterthought. Some better reaserch would be also advisable. Just one example - there is no mafia in Naples. It's called cammorra and the structure of the organization is quite different from Sicilian mafia. Plot is naive - to put it mildly. It was like watching a really bad action movie with great actors and decent dialogs. Also it seems that both MC's have one track mind and it's X-rated. Who in their right mind would think with their nether regions and talk, when they are in mortal danger, hiding from hitmen just a few meters away.... This is just one example. I must say again - I loved the writing style, but I won't be coming back.
Wow! This was better than the first book! It was a heck of a lot hotter too! I really enjoyed getting back together with the characters from book one. This book was an excellent continuation of the first book and it definitely brought more danger. I also like the subtle life lessons about living your life to the fullest and living it for you and no one else. There was so much action in this book it definitely held my attention. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series, Dangerously British.
Slow at first but it really picks up and the it is non stop action from there. Fiorenzo is snarky as hell and on a mission when Derrick strolls into his life and everything changes. Derrick was a lot older then Fiorenzo and it showed in his impatience and slight arrogance, the action is hilarious yet enthralling, you just didn't know what would happen next. On the verge of tears at the end and still in shock but I genuinely had a fun time reading and am excited for the next book.
Both of the MCs are kinda bad. Derrick did a terrible thing years ago and still wallows in guilt. Fiorenzo had a bad life growing up and is trying to escape his current circumstances, which causes more problems. They have great sex and Derrick is a total top. Outside the bedroom Derrick is kinda wimpy. Outside the bedroom Fiorenzo is way to arrogant and pushy. There is a lot of drama and personal issues from all the characters.
After reading book one in this series I was looking forward to the next installment. While I like the plot and how it was connected to the first book, but I couldn't bond with the main couple. I didn't find them interesting, so it distracted from really enjoying the book. I liked seeing the previous couple in this book. I recommend reading this book so you will be ready for the next in the series.
This story has a lot of twists and turns. You don’t know who you can trust at times. Derrick is a wood worker who is divorced, full of remorse for what he did and living a simple life. Fiorenzo is a child of a Naples mafia family running for his life to save himself and his sister Sophia. So much happens kidnapping, explosions, shootouts, misunderstanding, miscommunication and eventually love. A true page turner to the end.
This is a fun, roller coaster of a read for some afternoon when you are in the mood to just sit back and let the story take you. Don't examine the plausibility of the plot pieces or the characters behavior from a "realistic" perspective, just go with the flow like you would with a classic movie serial.
I received an ARC of this book for my honest review. Talk about a hot and steamy read. This book was a great continuation of book 1 which I love when a book does that as it brings back the characters from the previous book and this one flows really well. Lots of action and a good helping of stark. I really enjoyed reading Derrick and Fiorenzo’s story.
So this is the first time I'm reading this author, and the first book in the series that I've read, and it's not what I thought it was gonna be. This had more action, drama, angst and heat then I thought it would be, but it was still good on some level.
