Oh boy! The ending took this book is a very exciting lead to book 3!

Neve is becoming what she truly is and it is freaking lethal! Here we find her in need of Damian's help. Even though there is not a lot of trust remaining in their relationship the genie being taken (again), and the discovery of more genie's being taken...well he is her best bet.

Love the detective aspect of the series. You have true who done it feel to it. With any great read some of the conclusions are quite shocking. The biggest mystery to me is what/who Neve is going to turn out to be.

Now, still no romance. So for me that dropped it to a 4. There is a little play here or there, but nothing exciting or even slightly steamy for a pnr. Wish we had a little razzle dazzle in the romance.

Looking forward to book 3!

Happy reading,

Just like with the first book, this was an interesting story but still felt like something was missing. The characters just aren't doing it for me I think so I'm going to go ahead and give up on this series now. It still has some very intriguing concepts and I think a lot of people will love it.

I really love how thrilling the story is so far. I love all the adventures that our main characters, Neve and Damian, go on. It keeps things interesting and exciting. I am loving the build-up of the plot over the course of the series. The authors are definitely building up to something and I am excited to see where they take us. I am curious about Neve's powers, her family, and Damian's past. I can't wait to unlock all the mysteries. I am also excited for Neve and Damian to grow closer as the story progresses. They have intense chemistry and I'd love to see what they make of it.

This is the second book in this series, and I loved it even more than the first. It’s hard to believe that 2 of the 3 writers are “new” to the craft. Anyway, this pretty much started where the first one ended, and the artifact has been stolen. Not only that, Neve and company figure out what might be happening and must stop the perpetrator before it’s too late. This series reminds me so much of Linsey Hall’s writing where the books are just light-hearted, fun, and action-filled interludes to enjoy an afternoon in a carefree manner. I love this new duo with Ms. Hall, and I hope they stick around. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

Whoopsie daisy! That reveal blindsided me a bit but seriously with Linsey in the mix, anything can happen.

This book is a continuation of Wicked Wish. The djinn that Neve and Damian fought so hard to capture in Wicked Wish, has been stolen from the Order's apparently impenetrable vault. The intruder managed to bypass all the security measures and take it right from the Order leaving no clues whatsoever.

Neve jumping to conclusions immediately blames Damian, but when she discovers he's innocent, they both set off on another deadly adventure - this time to Egypt - to find the next Genie, an efreet, before the thief gets his hands on a third Genie which could cause devastation throughout both the magical and normal worlds.

Throughout the adventure Neve and Damian are still fighting their emotions for each other. At the same time Neve is growing into her powers as a half djinn from the realm of air. As she becomes stronger she can do more and more to manipulate the air.
We also learn more about Damian's past and the darkness he tries to not let come out - certainly in front of Neve.

This is another well written book which captures the imagination of the reader with their clear descriptive writing. The characters are all believable and as they change we can feel their emotions regarding this.

The places both real and imaginary are very well described and I could almost feel the cookies Neve was eating melting on my tongue!

My only complaint, again, is that I don't really feel the connection between Neve and Damian. Usually by now in a book I'm totally in love with the idea that the characters are falling in love, but it's just not happening for me - I do miss the butterflies fluttering around in my stomach. However, this doesn't kill the story for me in any way, so I can't complain too much.

I do love the book, Amira is a breath of fresh air, both to the character and is and I really liked her. Who knows, maybe when this series is finished ...

Finally, I wish to thank Veronica, Douglas and Linsey for such a good book and allow us a glimpse into their imaginations. I received this book pre-release as an ARC reader, but this honour in no way has affected my review, which is an honest view and impression I have from reading this book.

Oh so good. This was an exciting story that continues the adventures of Neve and Damian. In the previous book a djinni was captured and placed in the MagicPol vault. In this one it's been stolen, which was supposed to be an impossible feat. So Neve thinking Damian is the thief, goes to his place and accuses him only to discover she's wrong. So the two of them pair up again in search of another djinni to help them find the stolen one and the thief. I can't say much more without spoiling it so that's all of the plot I'm giving away.

What I loved: the characters. Of course the main two but also side characters like Amira and Spark and Khalil and Yasmina. I especially loved Amira and hope she makes another appearance in one of the next books. I loved the reveal about Damian but also suspected it. I loved the mention of Firesouls tying this series back to the original Dragon's Gift series which started it all. A Del, Cass or Nix crossover would be awesome. And the story itself with all of the adventures and the slow burning love story that's trying oh so hard to happen between Damian and Neve.

What I didn't love: It ended. Like all good books, the end came too soon and I have to wait until next month for another instalment.

Overall: 3/5

Plot and themes: 3/5

Characters: 3/5

Writing style: 3/5

Attention-grabbing: 3/5

I am once again way behind on reviews so I read this a couple weeks and I'm just going to provide a brief overview. Neve risked her life to capture a powerful djinn, only for him to be stolen less than a week later. The skill set of the thief leads her back to Damien Malek's doorstep. When she determines he's not at fault, they team up to find the thief and save the world.

It's fine albeit very convenient. We've switched it up and added Damien's POV to the mix and he seems as though he has... obsessive tendencies. The entire secret mystery leading up to his big reveal is annoying too because like get over it why do we have to hear him talk about how broken he is and how nothing between him and Neve would ever work. I would much rather get the tragic backstory about why he's broken.

I've already read the other two books at this point so my review is obviously a little biased but yeah it's an addicting kind of thing to read so you'll probably get to the end though I'm not really recommending it.

In my review of the first book, I said that this second book can go either way, it had a 50-50 chance of being a good read.

But it didn't go so well.

The characters started getting more and more annoying and, if in the first book I accepted some things that would normally annoy me, here it's getting a bit too much.

We have the know-it-all, all-powerful, but needy and nerdy and cute MC. We have the all-powerful, perfect male who, of course, falls madly in love and is there for whatever the MC needs. She doesn't trust him, he loves her. Then she kinda trusts him, but doesn't. She loves him but doesn't.

You know how it goes.

The annoying part is that I didn't feel anything for these two.
To top it off, the plot had some gaps, some weird things that made no sense. And I really dislike my characters acting like they're idiots. It doesn't happen all the time, but enough times to make me stop with this series (maybe I should have stopped with the first book, but oh well).

Anyway, I wouldn't recommend this series.

Major revelation at the end!

I did not see Damien's revelation coming at all. I am blown away. However, I still think she is blowing things out of portion. I get that for some reason she thinks there is some truth to that dream Matthais gave her. I just don't understand why. She said she didn't feel it was true in her gut. So obviously it was just a dream or a lie conjured by magic. You have to realize that's possible when you live in a magic world. This has always bothered me about this series I can't believe a researcher has never looked up her own magic and history! It's just to impossible to believe ladies. Not that I will stop reading but I will forever not believe it could happen! I absolutely love A alias character and hope and pray to see her in future books and spin offs. I know Lindsay's great at that if we keep asking for more! And I have bought this series.

Neve is trying to figure out her magic, she makes a discovery that no one can find out. Neve is also told that the genie she trapped has been stolen. Neve is grappling with severe emotional ranges. Neve is certain that Damien is involved, she will go find out for herself. Damien is suprised to see Neve on his doorstep, she is full rage. She makes accuses him of stealing the genie. He is furious that it has been stolen but she would suspect him. Not after all they had gone through. Neve and Damien decide to work together to figure out what is going on, who is behind it and why.

This is just a tiny tidbit of this story that unfolds. You will not be able to stop reading to find out what happens next. Neve has some major problems to deal with her magic, Damien and the thief. Can't wait to see what happens in the next book.

I think the quite amazing worlds we get to see in this series are enough to make me overlook other stuff, like how our heroine is a judgemental ho a lot of the time. Then again, I guess the fact that she's makes it make more sense that she's like that, since as we learn in this book, this is kinda what those guys are about - being hot-tempered and leaping straight to anger. Maybe I can forgive her, for that reason alone.

Anyway, I've never been one of the better ones that guessing who mystery bad guys are, and this book was no exception - I didn't see it coming, what happened when they got back out into the desert. But now I have a new baddie to hate, yay! I love absolutely detesting bad guys and then later seeing them get their comeuppance in stories like this. ;)

I'm now reading book #3 so I'll leave this review here and be back with more for the next instalment!

Action, suspense and more action

A good, fast paced read with lots of scene changes and a couple of characters who keep you guessing. I enjoy Damien's perspective, he gives insight without giving all his secrets away. At this point Neve is kind of being swept along with the madness that comes with stolen dinner and developing powers, which is understandable but I am hoping she starts to take control of things without her wildly swinging emotions leading her.
I thought Amira was a little one dimensional at times and hopefully her character develops as the story continues. TBH I had forgotten who Matthias was and had to go back and reread to remind myself. I am curious how his past relationship with Damien unfolds.
This is a solid read that has me looking forward to the next in this series to see what twists and turns arise for Neve.

Once again, I loved the next installment by Veronica Douglas and Linsey Hall! The majority of the book was set in an ancient city in Egypt, and I enjoyed getting to know the architecture and culture.

Neve and Damian are after another genie, but this time they are racing against the clock to reach it before whoever is also wanting to get their hands on it. Dark Storm was just as fast-paced as the first book, and I didn't want to put it down! Unfortunately, college got in the way, or else I would've finished it one sitting! I was thoroughly surprised by the big plot twist at the end, but looking back at the events of the last two books, it all makes sense now! Everyone needs to be reading this amazing and compelling universe!

Soooo gooood!

This book is just as amazing as the first! Neve and Damien have to team up to find out who is stealing the genies and find them before its too late. The places we get to travel to with Neve and Damien are amazing. The descriptions are so vivid that I felt like I was actully there. This is full of action, adventure, intrigue, twists, turns, betrayal and a dash of kidnapping involved. The Efreet realm is absolutely crazy and so is the Efreet king. The fire djinn are the worst. Neve and Damien have to work together to get out of some really sticky situations along with the help of a new friend. I can't wait to see what happens next and how they will defeat the crazy baddie. I very highly recommend this series! It is amazing!

Seems the impossible to breach vault didn’t work, at all and for Neve it was clear who the thief was. Tired of the lie, feeling betrayed and disappointed she thought it was time to unmask the thief and hand him over to the Order. But Damian felt betrayed too and he had another version of the facts. Neve doubts didn’t wait but, still suspicious and with the threat gathering immense power, Neve and Damian team up to eradicate the danger. Interesting the dark secret that surrounds Damían and keeps him fighting with his demons. With Neve not knowing the extent of her powers we have an intriguing plot development full of suspense, detailed narratives, action, adventure, danger, betrayal and many strange creatures.

A rebel heroine, a dark angel hero and a slow burn romance? Even if I hadn’t read the first book in Linsey Hall and Veronica Douglas’ Dragon’s Gift: The Storm series, that publisher’s pitch for Dark Storm (Book 2) would’ve grabbed me. Having said that, while totally accurate (though it left out, just how exciting, thrilling, surprising and, frankly, freakin’ superb the book is), it was not needed fir me as I had read book 1 (if you’ve not I strongly urge you to start there even if this one stands alone pretty well) and was already addicted. This book 2 makes that addiction all-absorbing. It’s just that good, and of course it’s highly recommended.

Really enjoyed :)

4 stars mean that I really enjoyed this book but probably won't reread. I have quite a reread list so a book has to be truly amazing for me to give it 5 **

This book weaves into the world created by Linsey Hall but puts its own spin on it. I love the way the writers pull together a story. It is not steamy or even extremely romantic. So

far definitely YA but that's ok. I like the h Neve she is growing in power and I'm interested to see how that grows. Also whether the bond I suspect is there between Damian & Neve saves him. I think ultimately she may need to save him from himself. Will be reading the next book.

Brilliant

What a fantastic read it keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next to our heroine Neve and her hot sexy side kick Damien. These two have adventure after adventure risking death at every turn and barely making it out alive. He is secretive and hiding his true self and she is still discovering her powers. After being captured by an efreet a nasty fire genie and having to fight him to the death of becomes clear what Damien is and it isn't good his once good friend and conspirator is now capturing genies and trying to take over the world who can stop him. I am really looking forward to the next book in this riveting series.

Veronica Douglas continues to strengthen their already fabulous series, Dragon’s Gift: The Storm, with book 2 - Dark Storm.

This writing is exactly like a storm carrying you through a tempest. Just when you start to feel settled, a new contest of wills is presented. As we continue to root for the romance, that is devilishly problematic between our main characters, we are flown to exotic and mystical places, helping us to feel a part of the story.

I am so very excited to continue this journey!

Great Continuation of the Series

Dragon’s Gift: The Storm story continues with Dark Storm. Neveah has more to do to save herself and her friends from the person who stole the djinn from the Council. She and Damian are traveling to exotic location and meeting interesting people. There is plenty of action and the slow-burn love affair between Neve and Damian is present, but doesn’t go very far. The locations are described in detail and sets the feelings for the story line. I’m looking forward to the next installment in the series.

I've Read Better, and I've Read Worse

Warning: This review may contain spoilers.

I have read worse novels, but I have also read better. Dark Storm is an okay book if your looking for a short read to kill some time, as quick and simple to get through. Story and characters is nothing to be wowed about, but it's readable...despite the fact that the main character is called Neveah, which makes it hard to actually take the character seriously. The world buidlign and characters failed to leave an impression so I doubt I will re-read, but it's readable.

Dark Storm intensifies the action and drama, plunging readers deeper into Delaney’s dangerous world of secrets and betrayal. With her new, volatile powers threatening to expose her, the stakes have never been higher.

The tension between Delaney and Malek crackles as their trust issues grow, and the search for a deadly artifact adds a layer of urgency and mystery. The blend of magical lore, riddles, and a journey through ancient, perilous lands makes this installment both thrilling and immersive.

A gripping sequel that leaves readers hungry for more twists, danger, and passion.

I loved this book even more than the first! We pick up where we left off in book 1 with the artifact with the djinn having been stolen. After some sleuthing, Neve and company slowly figure out what's going on. There is banter, adventure, mystery, and the perfect amount of tension! I am loving this series, and I'm so excited that Lindsey teamed up with Veronica Douglas! They are on course to becoming one heck of a writing team! I highly recommend this series!

This is the second book in the series and picks up where the first one ended. A strong Arabian Nights influence as Damian and Neve’s adventure continues in a world of genies and djinn. Looking forward to find out in the third book if they manage to defeat Matthias and whether Neve forgives Damian for hiding his Firesoul secrets. Loving the collaboration of these authors. There is the familiarity of Magic Side and Guild City with a fresh introduction of new places and different supernaturals. I have been lucky to receive an advance copy of this book to review.

Love it!! The second book of the series is another amazing read. The first book ended in a cliffhanger and then in the second book we have a plot twist. A total page turner, we learn more about Damian Malek there is a new funny and spirited character and the tension between Damian and Neve is sizzling... I am a bit of a nerd so love all the literary references and all the Arabian nights vibes. Can't wait for the next book. Well done to the authors.

Now this second in series was great.

The first book I found difficult to read. This second in series, I could barely put down. I loved the story, the characters and the battles. The ending is messy and a cliffhanger of sorts but, it has me excited for the third and final book in the series.
I highly recommend this series and this book,. The first one just read it for the context because I promise this second one is well worth the read. I can not wait for book three!

Fun read

Overall, I liked this book, as I did the first one in the series. I feel like I couldn’t give it more stars mainly because I don’t understand Damian and his history. I know that’s kind of the point, it’s a mystery, but there isn’t quite enough to form my own guesses and the tension and building romance between him and the heroine isn’t quite capturing my interest the way I would like it to. It’s still a fun read and the history and archaeology definitely add quality.

Spellbinding

An excellent story with a great deal of exciting and non-stop action. Kinsey Hall is a great favorite favorite of mine but until this series came out, I was not familiar with Veronica Douglas. Now that I am acquainted with her talent, I will definitely be looking for more of her work. Great books, talented authors, you can't go wrong with this series.. I am looking forward to the next book which can't get here to soon for me.
