Beast waves, Chaos cultists, new Primordials rising. The world has gone crazy. A tournament has been called to find new champions. Aiden and his team must compete in Craesti City, the capital of their kingdom, to earn the right to journey to Monster Island for a multinational competition. Can Aiden rise to become the true chosen one, or will he fall into obscurity and failure?
I am an Air Force Veteran and graduate of the Air Force Academy. I have wanted to write for the entire of my adult life and finally decided to just do it.
A good continuation of the series. Like most progression novels though, I start wanting more from the characters than just to get stronger. I know it is a paradox. I love these stories early on because I love to read about the progression and getting stronger. Maybe it is because in the earlier books they start with nothing and I can see definite growth? Maybe it is because learning about a new magic system is much for interesting than slowly adding to the magic system I already know? I think the main thing is that I want the characters to develop their social lives more. It is easy to think about a MC getting stronger and leveling up and focusing solely on that for a few books. I tend to put myself in the MCs place when I read and after a couple of books in, that wouldn't be enough for me. Aiden was 22 years old when he died and was sent to this world. He was engaged to be married even though he was still a virgin. He has been in this world for over a year and yet he acts like he is 12 years old and has his first crush? What is with all the blushing anytime any woman compliments him. He has no problem with all the other changes from his home world to this world, except for the idea that he can be with more than 1 woman?
Okay, that was my little rant. I still love the series. There were some parts that didn't interest me as much as others but that is just the way it goes. I am still very excited to continue the series.
This book is focusing too much on the budding romance. I need more innovation.
It annoys me that the protagonist is making so much earth quips and acting out, drawing attention to himself, when he knows that standing out can get him killed. He acknowledged this very thing in the book, then continued making a spectacle of himself in public.
Did transferring to a dead body mentally cripple him in some way? Or is the author just bad and making stupid quips to pat select readers on their collective backs? Did the protagonist go around when he was on earth making stupid quips?
This series could have been so much better if the author cut out certain things. I don't know if he is specifically writing for a younger audience or not. The overabundance of childish antics interspersed throughout this book, and the series as a whole is very telling.
I will pick up the sequel because I like the story so far, but I still don't like how the author tells it.
I'll start by saying I like this series and enjoyed this book as well as looking forward to next book belive called monster Island when ever it released to rent 1st.
Anyway onto thought about this book I'll try and make sure few if any spoilers but warning may be long lol.
I'll start by saying loved how cultivation and pill taking was described and done in this book it was brilliant done & satisfying read same for alsome body tempering thanks for them and how done just wish more of it :) Also, excited about tattoo brought into it and to see what more can do as well as more for mc & author what does mc tattoo look like as not menchaned.? The whole breakthrough and pool was so fun to read and excitingly well written can't wait read more of that. Just shame everything has be painful would be good if some wasn't. Will say banter between characters was good for most part although constant glaring got to feel like over done a bit.
Sorry but below is some bad with book at least for me was. #. Too much lovey dovey for my liking as not really into that to start with amount in was yeah sigh... #. Found agrovating constantly talking about his previous world and sorry say bit stressful maybe, as read to escape for a little bit and dive into exciting fun read & this brought me right back everytime. no mc we don't have the strong rule are world just ritch influential & powerful instead. (Extra.) #. Found frustrating how long had wait for him to apply one of the 3 level 10 runes king gave him then forgot offer 2 sigh was waiting whole book for him to apply them and see effect of all 3 but nope he didn't. #. The whole sharing technology and science of are world with them was interesting and very happy didn't share things like weapons, but when was working on his private project went over board with information mean was good at 1st and don't daught some will love it but I found bit too much. Sharing better sewage system with them was great idea for one was worried also might ruin there cool world with it but hasn't so far. (Got close with some of things on ship using to get to monster Island tho.) #.
Few questions would be great know. 1. Whats mc elemental effinities levels now.? Hard keep up with them as can't. 2. What level runes he got attached to each element now. (As not got a clue except lvl,10 for lightning. And should been same if ever add them to ones for fire and air.)
Would give this book 3 to 3 and half stars thanks for read.
I love this series. And this book did not disappoint.Normally cultivation is a bit if he for me.Usually it's boring with people sitting down and sucking stuff up and acting like a battery. But this series Gives mechanics To the cultivation and magic system. It's well thought out and fun.Though this book didn't have as much crafting it still had some.I look forward to more discovery along this line in the future considering he's bringing knowledge from his old world and mixing With the magic.Author can have a lot of fun with that and I look forward to it.The battles of course are well thought out detailed and fun.And there seems to be goals in place. Obviously a long-term over arching quest/problem but there's also short-term goals are tournament here tournament there and what it does for the MC. The MC's growth is of course astounding but that's the whole point of the series since he is here to help them fight he has to get strong and fast and drag the rest of his friends and people around him along. I've read this series many times and love it each time. The biggest drawback in this book is that it ends. I want more. I hope the author doesn't get burn out and provides us with more goodness in this series though his other series is okay this one I think he is far superior. In my opinion this is the way cultivation should be approached. Not just a nebulous battery but Applications of energy And runes and skills.
I think this wasn’t a bad story but I just want it more out of it. When I think back to where the book started out and where it ended I don’t think you went to far. Don’t get me wrong they were mild significant clock points in this book new inventions new ideas new characters but a lot of this could’ve been stripped out. Some of this we read before we fight about condensation and gathering and all of that please read about new meals being tasted end even some of the fight scenes seemed dragged out. Like I said the book wasn’t bad it’s just for the number of pages here I think you could’ve taken about 15% of it away and you would’ve had the same story with the same level of understanding.
Looking forward to the next story in the series I think this was probably a bridge before we hit some more major plot points.
I enjoyed the story and the adventures of Aiden and his friends. The training and techniques that Aiden and his team learn was the most interesting aspects of the book. The tournament was not that exciting, but not boring either. The chemistry lessons Aiden introduced were informative, but a little long. Biden's adventures navigating nobility and courtship were the most entertaining of the book. The main critique I have was that the book was too short. I would like the author to explain who or what Chaos is in regards to the cultist and Light and Darkness. I'm sure the author has a plan and I am looking forward to book five.
Honestly I’m not really sure what to say about this book. On the one hand I like the story, however on the other hand we’re four books in and I’m not sure if the main character and his friends are still first year students? Have they graduated? So much has happened but yet time is almost forgotten in this book. The other thing that’s slightly annoying is that the main character was 21 years of age and former military before coming to this new world, yet can’t seem to pay attention and acts younger than most of the of his peers. I want to like it more but it’s just okay.
Best book of the series so far. MC appears to e over his romance angst, but he should progress it further. A lot further imo. He still freezes when killing human enemies, but there is no more drama. He still gets randomly distracted. It is humorous sometimes and annoying other times. I love the relationship with his new parents. Best part of the book imo. Finally, he is older than he appears, his thoughts should reflect that. So I hope he directly asks he princess her feelings.
Can't wait for he next book. Go buy the series so the author can write full time!
Excellent story. One oddity is how the author tends to stop halfway through a story arc. Not a cliffhanger (I loathe those), just sort of “here is a good stopping point” that doesn’t seem like a great spot.
This series has very little identifiable skullduggery, but obvious plots of treachery. What is different is how so many authors these days give you the bad guys outlook, and their thoughts, etc. this author does not. It is clear that stuff is going on in the background, but you cannot tell what. I like it.
The time spent before an event and the detail going into it's set up is ridiculous. The actual event feels glossed over making it very unimpressive. The combat is weak, the intrigue even more so. The "enemy", that is still undefined, is no longer a mysterious twist. They are a boring, predictable happenstance. This was a promising series, it stumbled for a bit. It has now fallen and can not get up.
one of a few books i keep on my tablet so i don't need to be at the computer to red it. also makes a hood listen when i take baths, all four so far are excellent, can't wait for number 5. too bad the author only give updates on facebook, it would be nice to actually rad the updates, facebook refused to let me join, not that i really mind except for the part where it is often used for updates on books, :(
The continuation of elemental gatherers is a fierce good read. The adventure continues on and the competition is fierce. The fight to win the competition gets brutal in this book and they make the team going to monster island. Aidens mentor whips the team into shape aggressively. Aiden himself comes up with a way to make crystals from his earthly knowledge and his parents take the knowledge and run with it. The crystals can store aether.
Aiden an his school head to the capital to intend a major tournament for prestige an resources .
As Aiden is learning new techniques an strengthing his body leveling up pushing himself harder to learn faster trying to catch up to his nobles classmates to equal them then surpass them . The school tournament is approaching fast he must show them he is capable of repaying the school by winning events an winning resources for the school . recommend reading excellent series .
Argh! Totally turning into a harem story. Why?!? So far it is pretty tame and only a few minor chapters dedicated to romancing multiple women. I guess I’ll keep going for now. Still really enjoy the story otherwise.
As the title says this is a review for Kindle Unlimited and as such is a reflection of my enjoyment of the book and in no way reflects cost to value analysis.
This was good, not great. I haven't had much to say about the last few books but they were all very fast paced and enjoyable reads but this one i found decently hard to get through because i just found myself getting bored through the middle section of the book. I hope that the next book brings the pace back to where it was before and keeps the characters and story going in the right direction so that i can love it again. 6.5/10
With each book in this series, Vines finds and improves his storytelling voice. Gone are the eye rolls I occasionally gave while encountering particularly silly/stilted/clumsy wordings in the first few volumes. We are witnessing an inspired storyteller evolve into a great writer. Bravo.
Compared to the first couple of books, this one started to really show Aiden’s struggle and pain. It almost feels like you went from a mediocre story teller to someone more involved. I like how Aiden isn’t just healed in one day and there’s a lot more substance when communicating everything. Good job!
Another enjoyable foray into the Elemental Gatherers World. Learned more about the world and hints about its past. Love the growth of the characters and the meta jokes! Cannot wait to read the next part of the adventure!
I have read most of the series 4-6 times already and cannot wait for the next book. I want to see how each character continues to progress and what new trials they will face.
As usual a fast paced page turner with interesting characters and events. Only complaint is not enough book. I was disappointed when I finished it. Can't wait for the next book
Excellent series and mc! The magic and world building are cool! The developing relationships are coming along nicely. Looking forward to the next in this series!!
Can’t say enough how much I enjoyed this book. Great progression in the relationships between the MC and support characters. Over all story line was captivating.
If you like to read everyday events of a Hero then this is your book about family, friends and small adventures with lots of training to get stronger just so so on fighting scenes yet lots of stuff is interesting???
I didn't like this book quite as much as the earlier ones in the series. I think it was the amount of time discussing Aether and increasing the ability to gather it. Regardless of that, I will keep reading.
The story becomes even more about the group of students as they leave the academy for a tournament. Still good progression and some use of earth science by Aiden applied to his new world
There was a good mix of their day to day life mixed in with battles. You knew something was about to happen because it was too quiet for too long. Then action. Planning just making them generally stronger with maybe some strategy thrown in.
If you love western cultivation and going to another world fighting cultivating and a bit of romance then get reading this series, it has all the above then pirates kraken etc and hes still a first year i can not wait till the second year and the next book.
