Death is not the end… Kinsley and Thorn are new parents. Laney is a perfect baby, and because of the magical reset, they don’t have to harness her powers.
Life is everything Kinsley always wanted it to be. Nice. Normal. Quiet.
Until a dead witch turns up outside under the old hanging tree, and Lilith is possibly the prime suspect.
Sara Bourgeois is a Midwesterner through and through. She spends her time writing, reading, herding cats, and standing in her driveway during tornado warnings. (You can't see them from the basement.)
Love this series. As new parents Kingsley & Thorn have a lot going on. Kingsley’s magic is still messed up. Aunt Lilith starts to act strange could it be that the magic that keeps all the witches young is no longer working right. But it’s due to dark magic. Meri may be growing some. Another good mystery.
This is an entertaining supernatural cozy mystery series. A great cast of characters in an entertaining storyline. This is the second generation of the family in this storyline. Kinsley is a witch a powerful witch in the head of her coven. Her family which is goes back generations in the town of Coventry. This town has humans in which is a like living there. There is a spill over the challenge though that keeps humans from seeing the magic. When they do their minds just turn it into something Monday night. Kinsley has a knack for solving mysteries and murders. Just like her mother did before her. Recently magic in the town has decreased quite a bit and they are trying to figure out what caused it. Kinsley along with the rest of the family figures out what is going on in the town and if it is magical they take care of it and if it is mundane then she helps her husband the sheriff figure it out. Her new baby is going to be the next most powerful witch when she grows up and her familiar Mary a cat that has been alive for a very long time is there to help and protect them. A very entertaining series with occasional dark twist here and there but very entertaining. Check it out
Magic is still at a low level in Coventry. Kinsley is feeling the effects of childbirth. Not the pain but the exhaustion even though Laney has slept all night since birth. Good thing as not only nightmares but daymares are ramping up & she doesn't know why. When a disturbance outside Hangman's House bring Thorn & Kinsley running, they find a witch named Samara dead with Li!ith standing over her with a knife. Lilith is dazed & confused. But Samara hasn't been stabbed to death. Who is strong enough to overcome Aunt Lilith? As Kinsley struggles to unravel the mystery while keeping her baby safe, there seems to be a gathering of darkness around Coventry. Is this the future with less magic the the town witches have to prepare for? Is new baby Laney the savior or the sacrifice? As this series continues to ramp up the mystery & anticipation, l eagerly wait for the next book. They're quick reads so start at the beginning. It will be worth it.
Thorn and Kinsley have had their premature baby. The baby seems to be healthy and happy. Everything seems to be going well until a dead witch is found in the front yard and Lilith is standing there with a knife. Then there's a death threat on a pizza box, another ghost, someone possessed and we find out what happens to some souls of really evil people.
I think the person to keep an eye on in the next few books in the series is Laney, the baby. I think she may turn out to be something very, very special. The characters are still being done well, the events are unusual enough to remain interesting and there's good potential for more books in the series.
Loved it Something strange is going on in Coventry...magic is waning. Kinsley and Thorn are taking care of the baby but soon Thorn has to go back to work which will leave his girls alone. Another great addition to the Familiar Kitten mysteries and the characters are wonderful. Kinsley has her hands full when a dead body is found out front of the Hangman's House...and one of her Aunt's is in the street with a knife Does Kinsley let Thorn due his job? Or does she help find the murderer? You'll have to read the book to find out.... Well written and it kept my attention right until the end
Sara Bourgeois has hit another home run. Love this series. It totally hooked me when it began with the Skeenbauer and Tuttlesmith feud. The stories have progressed delightfully and this book is the start of Laney’s story. You will be glad you read this series and get to know the characters and the town of Coventry. The Skeenbauer witches are like old friends, and Aunt Lilith is a total hoot. Oh, and no one can steal the show like Meri. He is the snarkiest cat around.
It's the first book since Kinsley had the baby, so, of course, she goes sleuthing with her mama. Magic is all out of sorts and they can't figure out why. Another great installment in the series. However, there were quite a few errors with spelling and such, which doesn't detract from the story itself... but if you're like me, your brain has to acknowledge the error, interrupting the flow.
ARC Review I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Thorn and Kinsley have a new baby names laney . After the tornado his Coventry the magical reset has begun so the vale is making witches weaker . But when a body is found she can't help herself . Awesome story
Haunted Hex is a fast paced read. This book includes more family interaction than the others in the series. Remy's interaction with Kinsely was extremely loving. This book really left me wanting more. I can't wait to read the next book.

I love this series and have read them all so far, not quite finished the one that just came out. I noticed that this one and the one I'm reading are quite short. I hope Sara isn't tired of this series. That would make me sad because I love the characters and the town. Plus the mysteries are always compelling!
This is a wonderful series. I was a bit confused with this book, though. I’m not sure I completely understand what happened. But it was still a great story and I like the characters. I wish that the magic would get completely restored though. Some series need the magic flowing freely!

Such a great series! I can barely wait for the next book to come out! What is wrong with the magic in Coventry? I love Aunt Lilith, and Meri is getting bigger! My fave author now! Thank you for a great read!
After the tornado in Coventry the magic has started seeping away. When local witches start dying Kinsley, Thorn, and her family have to discover what black magic is being performed before it can take her newborn daughter.
It isn't skip around too much so it felt more coherent. The characters only sometimes made poor decisions and I feel like Thorn is maybe learning to be a decent person.
From the very start it had me wanting to know what happens next. I really wanted to go to sleep but I had to finish reading it first. Time now is past midnight.
Haunted Hex is a fantastic paranormal cozy mystery. This book is interesting and engaging. The mystery has many twists to keep you guessing. I love the characters. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to more in the series.
YAY! Back to normal. Well, normal enough. Laney is a good baby and Kinsley and Thorn are good parents. The book has definitely changed gears to parents and married from single/dating. It's a subtle change and now that the book actually focuses on their working together to solve a mystery, it works quite well. Magic has changed and it seems like Kinsley's coven is being somewhat targeted for their previously held power. The mystery this time was really quite good, but again, it felt like it ended a bit abruptly. Meri's back to his previously snarky self. And I love it. Thorn isn't quite such a douche. Seems like maybe he has finally pulled his head out of his ass. Viv and Reggie weren't in this one but a little tiny bit and I'm missing them and the girls' friendship. Overall a MUCH better story than the previous book. Looking forward to the next one!
