As the day of Grace's wedding approaches, it seems nothing can get in the way of the happy Cherringham event. But just days before, her father Len is suddenly arrested on suspicion of murder - a murder committed 30 years ago, and a thousand miles away. Could Len actually have committed the crime? And can Jack and Sarah unearth the truth in time for him to walk his daughter down the aisle?
Set in the sleepy English village of Cherringham, the detective series brings together an unlikely sleuthing duo: English web designer Sarah and American ex-cop Jack. Thrilling and deadly - but with a spot of tea - it's like Rosamunde Pilcher meets Inspector Barnaby. Each of the self-contained episodes is a quick read for the morning commute, while waiting for the doctor, or when curling up with a hot cuppa.
Co-authors Neil Richards (based in the UK) and Matthew Costello (based in the US), have been writing together since the mid-90s, creating innovative content and working on major projects for the BBC, Disney Channel, Sony, ABC, Eidos, and Nintendo to name but a few. Their transatlantic collaboration has underpinned scores of TV drama scripts, computer games, radio shows, and the best-selling mystery series Cherringham. Their latest series project is called Mydworth Mysteries.
I read this book rather than get the audible book. I am currently up to book 12 in audible as I listen to these books while I commute. But wanted to actually read one from this series. I am convinced Neal Dudgeon makes the book with his narrations. The stories are easy to read but when Dudgeon narrates I can truly SEE it. Love his accent and am sure that I would sit and let him read to me a cookbook of recipes if he only would! Jack and Sarah are two characters that come alive and to see the village these mysteries take place in would be a trip of a lifetime. Always feel at “home “ when I am listening or reading this series.
Novella #36 and I've listened to them all. I just love Sarah and Jack and all these fun little episodes.
This one was about Jack and Sarah's friend being arrested for a 30 year old murder and their race to clear his name before he was extradited to Spain, where the murder happened.
As always, no romance and no swearing.
As to the narration: Neil Dudgeon is simply fabulous reading these novellas.
I’ve listened to the entire series on audiobook, and while I enjoy them all, there was something more with this one. There is a race against time, and a little more danger than usual, all making for a compelling story. I started this late in the evening, expecting to just have something to listen to as wind down for the day, but it was so good that I kept listening to the end, long after I should have gone to bed.
The quiet assistant made partner in Sarah’s web design business is heading towards the long awaited wedding with only 4 days to go. Grace’s father, Len, has a past that could ruin the wedding plans and land him in a Spanish prison cell. But he needs some special Jack Brennan coaching to even defend himself and open up about those events of 20 years ago. A race against time, can our detecting duo do dazzling detecting?
The stories are well written and the characters are believable . I've enjoyed the way they've developed over the course of the series . Now would you please let Jack and Sarah get together romantically !!!! Is recommend this book to people who enjoy well written light fiction .
Have again thoroughly enjoyed another book in the Cotswolds. The characters have become close friends and any happening becomes important. Wow, now the next book is really a hurry up and get here. Have been awaiting this to happen for quite awhile...no spoilers here!
Trail of literary potato chips.....or crisps! Cant read just one.
Trail of Lies. Have become totally charmed by the series. Prefer the more in depth scenarios than the trail of lies, which a bit of a short story.......
I love these books so much. Always fun to have a visit in Cherringham and stay up to date with the locals. Please keep writing! It will be a sad day when there are no more Cherringham books.
Its a race against time for our crime solving duo to prove a man innocent of a 30 year old murder case. With more surprises, a new one every few pages, hummm, can't tell you or I'd spoil it. Highly recommended.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Highly entertaining and an enjoyable short read. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys reading a good short mystery.
Grace’s wedding is only days away when her father is arrested for a murder that happened 30 years ago in Abetha. Will Jack and Grace get to the truth in time for the wedding?
Wow, this book was intense and pulling the entire time. The suspense was gripping till the end. Wow, again, what a rollercoaster of emotions. Really amazing book.
