You get a look of the media from a different perspective. You get to see how the media establishment essentially became a weapon to yield by the Democratic Party. You see all the mistakes they’ve made over the years, including the Russia collusion scandal and the Covington Catholic High School case.

I do like that Alex doesn’t act that Trump is somehow free of error while also calls out the media for when they take it too far in their criticism

This is one of those political books that stands out because it should be read by those on both the left and right sides of the aisle. I’ll explain below.

Free speech has become a freedom that is quickly shrinking. It is chilling when there are even some of the folks on the left side of the aisle start to comment on this freedom, one that has been enshrined since the beginning of this country. And while we have always seen different viewpoints emit from various news sources (and isn’t that what we want, the freedom to say what you believe?), never before has there been the unabashed choice to apply the media to squash those who think differently.

Author Alex Marlow exposes the corruption within the establishment media and the determination to eliminate conservative voices. If you are one of those, you will recognize most of the examples in “Breaking the News.” Mr. Marlow digs deep into each chapter, offering more background that you may not have been aware of. Chapters expose the influence of those in print media, the Internet, the airways, and other methods used to affect the hearts and minds of Americans. The book also addresses those power brokers such as Bloomberg, Soros, and Jobs.

One expert quoted in the book estimates that the influence of Google alone in the 2020 election “could shift ten percent of the voting population of America with no one knowing they had done this…” which is a scary thought to ponder, that any election could become influenced to that degree. More than once is the specter of Orwell raised throughout the book.

Most important are the detailed notes at the end, listing all the sources. For those on the left who doubt what is written in “Breaking The News,” no one is forcing you to accept Mr. Marlow’s words without performing your own verification. If you do, I believe you will – at the very least – begin to question what the establishment media is telling you. Five stars.

American media is broken - what are we going to do about it?

Alex Marlow does exactly what his subtitle claims. For NYT, MSNBC and Bloomberg News, he systematically debunks the lies and subterfuge that were paraded as news from the last 5 years, or so. Other organizations and individuals are covered as well but it’s these three that are his primary focus. It’s one book and the field is massive; he believes these are the linchpin.

Marlow begins by giving a brief autobiography. He’s an interesting character: young, dedicated since high school and positioned perfectly to prepare for this calling to journalism. He meets Andrew Breitbart while still in college at Berkeley and the rest, as they say, is history. He joins the Breitbart News organization where he’s currently Editor in Chief.

Topics that are examined closely include most you’d expect and a few that might surprise: the Cuomo Bros and all their ties to NBC and its affiliates, Bloomberg and China and who actually said what when, Zuckerberg’s many roles, far too many, IMO, Election Math and Mail in Voting, Canceling History. It’s all very sobering. There’s more, much more but you should read the book.

There are interactive notes galore in the Kindle edition. I’d purchase this book in that version specifically for that reason. Verifying Marlow’s claims with the actual sources of information, crossing T’s & dotting I’s - a
novel idea these days. It’s also a call to action. Time to make our voices heard and take a stand by how our money is spent, our time is spent and our vote is cast. Don’t let you be broken📚

Written as an indictment of mainstream media, which is owned by giant mega-corporations and has shifted from bias to outright attacks on unapproved narratives and opinions. More than ever, members of Big Media join White House administrations and vice versa. The book gives example after example of Big Media pushing false news, suppressing news unfavorable to Democrats, the origins of cancel culture, the influence of the Internet, and so on. Everything is fully documented, and most of it I remembered from what it happened. Seeing it all at once is pretty infuriating.

The writing is in a conversational style with lots of breaks, making it quick and easy to read. Overall very interesting.

========================================
HIGHLIGHTS:

Credibility, integrity, accuracy, even breaking big stories are no longer what is rewarded by our media. Weaponizing your platform to attack Donald Trump and his supporters on behalf of the corporate establishment is the apotheosis of journalism in these modern times. ... What would have been a terrific news cycle for President Trump was wiped off the front pages for a few days while the media debated this hoax. ... The truth isn’t necessarily the truth . The truth is what the fake news media and the Democrat establishment decide is the truth . If the Atlantic and Joe Biden and MSNBC all agree to push an obvious lie, does that lie over time become the truth ?

It may have been widely celebrated by the woke left, but 1619 was widely criticized by experts. Shortly after the project was published, a group of decorated historians wrote a letter to the Times critiquing it. The main objection to the content of 1619 was that it contained numerous falsehoods and had an opaque fact-checking process, but the tone of the letter suggested perhaps some deeper outrage. From the letter (emphasis mine):
[E]rrors, which concern major events, cannot be described as interpretation or “framing.” They are matters of verifiable fact, which are the foundation of both honest scholarship and honest journalism. They suggest a displacement of historical understanding by ideology. Dismissal of objections on racial grounds—that they are the objections of only “white historians”—has affirmed that displacement. ... On the American Revolution, pivotal to any account of our history, the project asserts that the founders declared the colonies’ independence of Britain “in order to ensure slavery would continue.” This is not true. If supportable, the allegation would be astounding—yet every statement offered by the project to validate it is false. Some of the other material in the project is distorted, including the claim that “for the most part,” black Americans have fought their freedom struggles “alone.”

That is who I believe Nikole Hannah-Jones is: a racist conspiracy theorist with a victim complex who embraces violence, publishes glaring falsehoods, and hates America. She directs all this passion toward pushing her narratives with semi-fictional “journalism.” And she is exactly who the New York Times and the Pulitzer Board yearn to celebrate.

Conservatives have long pointed out that our journalist class tends to come from the same backgrounds, attend the same colleges, and live in the same cities, etc. They’re bubbled. We get it. That’s why they all seem to compete with each other to see who can be the most woke and most outraged at America. But another bubble that is less often discussed but arguably more disturbing is how the vast majority of journalists are inculcated in similar corporate cultures.

[Leta Hong] Fincher [wife of Mike Forsythe] attributed the alleged forcefulness of the Bloomberg brass to the profit motive: “Bloomberg’s company, Bloomberg LP, is so dependent on the vast China market for its business that its lawyers threatened to devastate my family financially if I didn’t sign an NDA silencing me about how Bloomberg News killed a story of Chinese Communist Party leaders,” Fincher wrote in the Intercept in 2020. “It was only when I hired Edward Snowden’s lawyers in Hong Kong that Bloomberg LP eventually called off their hounds after many attempts to intimidate me.”

I knew what the political and media establishments were going to do: they would try to portray information that didn’t fit their preferred narratives as “fake news” so they could kill the messenger in lieu of being forced to cover the legitimate information conservative platforms report. This would be the dawn of a new witch hunt culture where self-appointed censors—through harassment and blatant manipulation—would impose speech controls on those who did not align with the status quo consensus. The ultimate goal: use the term “fake news” to demonetize the online Right, starving it of resources.

With only weeks left until the election, the media merely had to run out the clock and make sure the [Hunter Biden laptop] story didn’t become fully engrained in our cultural consciousness. In order to do that, they would need more than just the “he was hacked” lie. So, they dusted off a trusty device: blame the Russians. Yes, the Democrat Media Complex attempted to portray actual evidence of possible actual corruption uncovered by a legitimate newspaper about the soon-to-be-president as Russian interference.

[Media Research Center data]
• 35.4 percent of Biden voters were unaware of credible allegations that Joe Biden had sexually assaulted Tara Reade when she was on his Senate staff. (Joe Biden has denied Reade’s allegation, which are unproven.)
◦ 8.9 percent of those surveyed told the MRC they would have changed their vote if they had been aware of it
• 45.1 percent of Biden voters were unaware of financial scandals involving Joe and Hunter.
◦ 9.4 percent of those surveyed told the MRC they would have changed their vote if they had been aware of it.
• 25.3 percent of Biden voters said they didn’t know that Gov-Track had found that Kamala Harris had the most left-wing record in the Senate.
◦ 4.1 percent of those surveyed told the MRC they would have changed their vote if they had been aware of it.
Other data also found broad ignorance of Trump’s political victories, specifically rapid economic growth, booming jobs numbers, advances toward Middle East peace, energy independence, and progress made toward a coronavirus vaccine. In conclusion, the MRC found that 82 percent of Biden voters were unaware of at least one of the three aforementioned anti-Biden narratives or at least one of the five pro-Trump narratives. This all appears to have cost Trump votes. In total, the MRC survey showed that a whopping 17 percent of Biden voters would have switched their votes had they known about all eight items mentioned.

In a way, Joe Biden did have his “unity,” at least on the social web. Most everyone of prominence who remained “platformed” supported the new work McCarthyism, or at least were going to keep quiet about it until the heat died down. Political opponents were no longer to be debated, or even tolerated. They were to be forced into submission. The Big Tech oligarchs and their allies in the corporate media paid no mind to the fact that much of the country was appalled by what they were doing and still supported President Trump. The Rasmussen presidential tracking poll for January 11, 2021, showed Trump’s approval at 48 percent, right around where it had been most of his administration. They weren’t convincing many of his voters. But that was never their intent. Our weaponized news media and social media giants have wanted to crush Trump, his movement, and American individuals who dare not conform to their vision of the world.

Calls for unity are almost always phony. I’ve never met a single person who called for unity who didn’t have conditions. Actually, one condition: you agree with the person calling for unity 100 percent of the time. So long as you accept exactly the values of the person calling for unity and healing, then we can have unity and healing. And who decided unity was the ultimate goal anyway? Arguably, more progress is made when have civil disagreement. ... Perhaps the quickest way to achieve unity is by banishing any dissent from the media-approved consensus.

The memory of the widespread Black Lives Matter rampages that were encouraged by our establishment press was still fresh on the minds of Trump backers, even those like myself who disavow and condemn the Capitol violence on January 6. Our broken media spent the better part of a year extolling protests and excusing violence, looting, fires, and deaths as the language of the unheard, only to feign terror when the other side used similar tactics. This is not mere “bias.” This is weaponized fake news. No, Joe Biden and the Democrat Media Complex never actually wanted unity or truth or healing. They didn’t want law and order or an end to violence. They wanted to punish the Bad Orange Man and his supporters. They wanted power for power’s sake.

The media broke itself by refusing to respect their audiences. In the Trump era and beyond, the media has become angrier, more hysterical, more prone to crying wolf, and more dishonest than was previously imaginable. Instead of trying to convince their audiences to embrace their left-leaning worldview, they now use coercion and intimidation, sometimes even blacklisting, to force people to agree. Conform and obey or we will come after you. That is their mantra. This is horrifying, but it’s also a sign of weakness. And they know many Americans are on to them.

One thing I can tell you from my career in independent media is that the Left cannot be appeased. They do not want compromise. They do not want to educate or reform. They want to absorb or destroy. Become one of them or they will come for you. It’s only a matter of time. America has entered a dark moment where dialogue with certain people who hold certain viewpoints is verboten. This is a dangerous trend and one that must be resisted intensely. All of the people won’t agree on all of the things all of the time. So, what happens when we can’t discuss and debate and argue? What happens when certain opinions are no longer allowed in the battlefield of ideas? What is the alternative to dialogue? My fear is that it’s much worse than anyone wants to imagine.

Wow, this is an amazing piece of work by Alex Marlow. I actually was aware of most of the events and reporting he lays out here because I follow several reliable news sources, but the level of detail and the number of specific facts Alex lays out shows that this stuff is really incontrovertible. For people who only watch CNN or MSNBC or even ABC, CBS, or PBS, most probably aren’t even aware that this stuff happened…and if they’re aware, they don’t believe it. I would challenge any of them to read this book and then still deny the information in it. A few might be honest, but I’m betting most would just continue to bury their head in the sand. Should be required reading at every high school and college in America.

"Leftism, globalism, and corporatism have emerged as the dominant ideologies that drive major content decisions by leading news outlets. More and more, newsrooms in recent years have gravitated toward stories that advance the notion that an interventionist government combined with powerful, well-funded global bureaucracies provides the path forward for America. Rarely do newsrooms, increasingly owned, financed, and operated by the world’s biggest companies, provide a check on the corporations that control so much of our lives and culture."

A timely book; I enjoyed Breaking the News.

Author Alexander Mason Marlow is an American media executive who is currently the editor-in-chief of Breitbart News. Marlow began his career as Andrew Breitbart's editorial assistant, a position which he held for four years. He was hired in 2008 as Breitbart's inaugural managing editor and served as its first employee. Marlow hosts Breitbart News Daily on SiriusXM. He was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for 2015.

I enjoy reading books about the culture war from time to time, so I put this one on my list when I came across it. The writing in the book covers the efforts by those in the media class to forward their own narratives, memory-hole stories they don't like, twist the truth, and bring down former American President Donald J. Trump.

Marlow writes with an easy, engaging style here, and the book is very readable. This can be fairly hit-or-miss, in my experience, and I always award points when an author can produce accessible writing.
The audiobook version I have was read by the author; which is always a nice touch.

Marlow lays out the scope of the book early on:
"Breaking the News is about the modern era of political media. In this book, I track the evolution of the “Democrat Media Complex,” which was Andrew Breitbart’s expression for the incestuous nature of the establishment media elite and America’s ideological Left. I explain why and how certain stories are covered —or not covered—and who bene􀏯ts from those coverage decisions. I examine the deals cut, the corporate connections, the family ties, and the global ambitions that are shaping the news that you consume every day, even if you can’t always see it in plain sight."

In this age of ever-increasing political polarization, much of the legacy/mainstream media have become completely corrupted, IMHO. Seemingly tossing any semblance of journalistic ethics right out the door; many of those who bring you the news are no longer journalists, they are political activists who work in the field of journalism. Marlow's writing here examines the depth of this corruption.

Hate crime hoaxes are covered in the book. Many of the stories that were pushed endlessly by the legacy media turned out to be untrue, and/or completely concocted. And there were a lot of these incidents. Marlow writes: "Breitbart News documented at least a hundred hoaxes in all between 2007 and 2016. The College Fix, a right of-center blog that covers academia, reported on at least fifty pieces of very fake hate crime news between 2012 and 2018."
Incredibly enough, there didn't appear to be any loss of credibility associated with forwarding these false narratives and stories...
Some of the hoaxes widely shared by the legacy media covered here include:
• The Charlottesville hoax; Trump's reaction is covered.
• The Brett Kavanaugh sexual misconduct allegations hoax.
• The 4+ year false news narrative of Russian "Collusion."
• The Covington hoax; Nicholas Sandmann's lawsuit victories against the media companies who slandered him.
• "Justice for Jussie”: A Hate Crime Hoax.
• Bubba Wallace and “Very Fake Noose.”
• “Suckers and Losers”: A Fake News Instant Classic.

Other topics and people covered in the book include:
• Michael Bloomberg; his failed $900 million Presidential campaign and ties to China.
• Sleeping Giants, a "network of far-left ad industry workers who waged what I regard as a partisan pressure campaign to bankrupt Breitbart. The Sleeping Giants, who often stayed entirely anonymous, are left-wing activists who wage social media warfare against conservative media."
• The left's "cancel culture."
• Microsoft’s Newsguard. Newsguard, launched in 2018, is a browser extension that rates the wholesale trustworthiness of news outlets. Newsguard offers “credibility” rankings for news articles.
• "Mostly peaceful protests;" The Story of Black Lives Matter
• The 2020 American Presidential Election.
• The COVID-19 pandemic; Andrew Cuomo's New York State vs. Ron DeSantis's Florida.
• The unprecedented power and ideological rigidity of Big Tech. The partisan corruption of Twitter, Facebook, and Google is covered.
• Joe and Hunter Biden's questionable shady dealings with China; Hunter's laptop, and "pay-for-play" are also covered.
• The protests turned violent at The Capital on January 6th.

What is talked about here by author Marlow, but not mentioned directly is the underlying mechanism of social contagion. Humanity's Achilles' heel; our inborn pro-social wiring often sees societies go off in bad directions, succumbing to pathological groupthink. History is replete with examples of this. It is generally the rule, not the exception. Fashion, crime, suicide, and political and religious movements are just a few examples of things that are readily culturally transmissible.

Leftist thought and political orientation have been increasing in the west over the last ~100 years, greatly accelerating recently and hitting a tipping point. Many of society's key cultural institutions are now controlled by those that identify left of center: Much of academia, Hollywood, social media, the print media, and the legacy media - to name a few.
The current climate described in this book is an example of an ideological purity spiral; accelerated and amplified by the mass usage of social media, and the democratization of the internet.

The increasing partisan control over the broader media sphere in an effort to control the narrative is one of the larger stories of our modern time. This should concern you, no matter what side of the political aisle you find yourself on... Orthodoxy in ideology and/or thought rarely ends well, no matter what side it comes from. A balanced view that allows dissenting voices is a necessary bulwark in preventing movements from inevitably sliding towards extremism. This is why the concept of free speech as a doctrine is one of the most important rights a free society needs to protect.

Along with this book, I can also recommend Slanted: How the News Media Taught Us to Love Censorship and Hate Journalism, and #DELETED: Big Tech's Battle to Erase the Trump Movement and Steal the Election; both of which cover similar ground, and talk about the recent corruption of the mainstream media by partisan ideologues.

Marlow drops this quote in the books' conclusion:
"American media is broken. It was broken by Andrew Breitbart, who inspired a generation of conservatives to fight the culture war with their keyboards and smartphone cameras, starting with systematically discrediting and rejecting the establishment press. My colleagues at Breitbart News as well as many powerful voices in conservative talk radio, cable news, and publishing continue Andrew’s work, providing the information and analysis the powers-that-be don’t want you to read or hear. Millions upon millions of citizens have enlisted in this fight on social media as well.
The media was broken by Donald Trump, who triggered the members of the elite American press so effortlessly and so thoroughly that they now lack any claim to objectivity. More Americans than ever now know that the media isn’t simply putting their “spin” on the news; they are a weapon used by the globalist left to destroy political enemies. We can thank Trump for that.
The media was also broken by the international conglomerates that own and run most of the news business. They have pushed enterprising, freethinking, entertaining journalists o their platforms in order to protect their corporate interests and avoid the wrath of woke activists.
And finally, the media broke itself by refusing to respect their audiences. And they know many Americans are on to them."

*************************

Breaking the News was a decent look into much of the recent media corruption. I would recommend it to anyone interested in the culture war, and/or the modern mainstream media.
A good presentation here.

"Whatever the party holds to be truth, is truth." George Orwell, 1984

Intense and horrifying. More than anything this book made me angry and frustrated at the way our country is being led down a dark hole by wealthy and power-hungry technocrats hellbent on subjugating all of us to their Utopian fantasy under their control.

There is no question whatsoever that Google, Facebook, Twitter, You Tube, Amazon, and Apple have a monopoly over information. This was proven to me and the rest of the world when they booted President Trump and multiple other influential conservatives from their online platforms because their message was too "dangerous". Now, the mainstream media have become an outlet for political propaganda with a purely leftist bias.

The author, Alex Marlow was the 1st employee of breitbart.com in 2008 and the term "Democrat Media Complex" was coined by Breitbart.

The following are several of the topics discussed in the book.

-Loreen Powell Jobs and her secret dark influence over the media.

-The Charlottesville hoax and how the media took Trump's words out of context to label him as a racist and Neo-Nazi.

-Brett Kavanaugh

-The lies behind the Russian collusion hoax and conspiracy theory.

-The Covington hoax and when fake news targets children.

-The Jessie Smollett hate crime hoax and the media lapping it up despite the complete lack of evidence.

-Burisma and Quid pro Joe

THE NEW YORK TIMES

-The intimate relationship between The New York Times and The Obamas and others in the Democrat party.

-Carlos Slim's political agenda

-Evidences of the New York Times' blatant lies and propaganda, and the people behind their bias reporting and fabricating of "news".

-The Times' and their "constantly fanning the flames of racial division", particularly since the beginning of 2020.

-The Times' recent recruitment of openly racist bigots despite their claiming to be an authority on the matter.

-The Times' 1619 project, and it's premise that the United States was built upon slavery and racism.

-"The Caliphate Non-fiction Podcast Project" from 2018.

-The firing of Donald McNeal jr., and The Times' hypocrisy problem.

-The Times' history of intimidation and doxing conservatives such as Tucker Carlson.

-How The New York Times and other news outlets outlets receive money from Communist China for favorable propaganda

-Anonymous sources and the weaponization of Fake News

NBC

-Comcast, the media, and the roots of major corporate America and their worldwide shareholders.

-NBC's pompous liars Brian Williams and Joy Reid and NBC's refusal to withdraw their airtime despite repeated controversies.

-Ronan Farrow's book uncovering the predatory sexual culture among top NBC executives, as well as Matt Lauer and especially Andy Lack, NBC's Chairman.

-Noah Openheim, Phil Griffin and their blatant refusal to allow private investigation into alleged sex crimes among top executives at NBC despite their supposed support of the "Me Too Movement".

-NBC's wildly fanatical conspiracy theorist Rachel Maddow, as well as many other examples of false and defamatory reporting from from NBC Talking Heads.

-How network anchors would take absurd conspiracy theories and false accusations at face value despite the complete lack of evidence such as Trump being a "Nazi".

BLOOMBERG and CNN

-Bloomberg News selling out to China by refusing to release media critical of China's corruption.

-Bloomberg's spiking of a story meant to expose a major Chinese scandal and use of threats and intimidation against it's own writers. (See audio clip)

-The "fake news" war, cancel culture, and the "brand safety" hoax.

-The "mostly peaceful protests" lie and the media and democrats hypocritical love affair with the black lives matter and antifa terrorist groups.

The Technocrats and the 2020 Election

-The purely political "Microsoft Newsguard" that that uses the wholesale approach of marking left- leaning news outlets such as CNN "trustworthy" and right-leaning outlets as "untrustworthy" .

-Ballot harvesting, cheat by mail, and the multiple claims and evidences of voter fraud, voting irregularities, and broken ejection laws in particular states, especially in Georgia and Wisconsin in the 2020 election.

-Extreme leftist bias in Silicon Valley and large tech and social media companies, particularly Apple, Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and Twitter.

-Blacklisting, banning, and shadow banning of prominent conservatives by Facebook and Twitter.

-Heavy suppression of internet traffic by Google to top conservative websites since 2020, particularly during and after the election.

"According to the DOJ, Google controls a staggering 88% of the U.S. search market."

-The Hunter Biden Burisma scandal and the concerted effort by the media to cover it up.

-The suppression of verified reports of multiple crimes and scandals committed by members of the Biden family and covered up by the media.

Much like a modern day Howard Beale, Alex Marlow is mad as hell and is not going to take it anymore. And this book will probably make you mad, or sad, too. As editor of Breitbart news during the Trump administration, Marlowe has suffered-and many on the left would argue caused many accusations of bias and collusion for and with the alt-right. He systematically fights back in this book, taking barb by barb with retractions and by returning quotes to context. For me, I think we all could benefit from a return to more copious balance in the media from the left and the right.

Even if you despise the political Right and everything it stands for, you need to read this book. It is highly detailed and heavily sourced with direct references. This includes links to original editorials, articles, interviews, film clips, etc. in (I think) every method of digital communication in use today.

Regardless of your politics, the possibilities are chilling when it comes to how easily private organizations have levers of control large enough to influence elections. The owners of these organizations have more money than many countries and are directly funding people and groups that now owe their existence to them.

There is not another book out there that is this detailed and needs to be read by everyone who is concerned for their Constitutional right to free speech.

The actual title of this work, by Alex Marlow, is "Breaking the News, Exposing the Establishment Media's Hidden Deals and Secret Corruption." I am still awaiting whether Goodreads will correct the title discrepancy, and start to wonder about yet another avenue of crushing free expression.

If you can't spend the time reading an entire book the post linked within this Matt Vespa column will take you down the same path. https://townhall.com/tipsheet/mattves...

By the time i finished I was almost in tears at the dodgy journalism that Marlow exposes in the book. I think it may be safe to say we no longer have a free press.

Very good book about the news media and it's biases. Some chapters are better than other's. I enjoyed the one on the people attempting to get right wing media banned and the steps that big tech has done to try and throttled companies that don't follow their beliefs. The chapters on MSNBC and New York Times were pretty good as well. Obviously told from one side but you can tell that from the title and who wrote it.

Gahhhh....this book is terrifying but a MUST READ for every single American. All of the lies told by the MSM to destroy President Trump and Conservatives are dissected and debunked with factual evidence. Sadly, I don’t know that those who really need to hear these truths will read it...Because learning that the MSM lied to you, and that you have been completely deceived, is a hard pill to swallow.

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness...

Our society is awash in lies.

As we observe thugs set a building afire in the background, MSNBC's Ali Veshni tells us we are NOT watching a riot. He says that we are seeing nothing more than a peaceful protest,

In January 2019, the media smeared 16 year-old, Nick Sandmann when they reported that he had intentionally tried to intimidate Nathan Phillips, an elderly Native American man. One short video of the encounter shows the students chanting and laughing as Phillips drummed in Sandmann's face. The footage was shared on social media and went viral, claiming that the boys blocked the Native American so they could taunt him. Media outlets like CNN picked up the story and ran with it, fueling the outrage from leftists who spewed hate against the boys, assuming they were racist because some of them were wearing "Make America Great Again" hats.

But longer videos of the encounter show the boys standing in that spot for a long period of time before Phillips walked up to them to play his drum right in the middle of their group. The truth was that Sandmann was not the aggressor in the situation. Instead, it was he and his fellow Covington High School classmates who were targeted by counter-protesters.

More recently the headlines blare: Teachers call angry parents terrorists: School officials beg Biden to send in the FBI to protect them from 'extremist' parents angry over vaccine and mask mandates and say it should be treated as 'domestic terrorism'

Personally, I can think of few things more evil than attempting to punish concerned parents who want only to protect their children and raise them correctly.

Lots of people agree that the American media is on the attack - leading the way in terrorizing the majority into silence and fealty by pretending to represent a new wave of mainstream thought and threatening banishment from polite society to any who offend popular culture's prevailing (and Leftist manufactured) consensus.

Marlowe points out that its ultimate goal is to cancel America, at least as in the traditional sense. They want to replace liberty, In God We Trust, and E pluribus unum with the woke-topia of political correctness, corporatism, and globalism.

But while many want to criticize the media, few can do it effectively. Alex Marlow is one of the few who can deliver; he drops fact after fact into this devastating portrait of deceit and calumny.

In this book he tracks the evolution of the 'Democrat Media Complex" (Andrew Breitbart's expression for the incestuous nature of the establishment media elite and America's ideological Left). He explains why and how certain stories are covered - or not covered - and who benefits from those coverage decisions. He looks at how deals are cut, the corporate connections, the family ties, and the global ambitions that are shaping the news we consume every day.

Along the way, Marlowe brings out a number of interesting highlights. He reveals the deep ties between the Chinese government and the American media elite - especially Bloomberg. He also lists the tricks the New York Times uses to contort every story to its agenda. He'll introduce you to the Widow Jobs who bought the institutional Left and now overshadows even the great Soros. He'll explain how the media made the Chinese Coronavirus "God's Gift to the Left."

This book would be a great "wake-up call" for those who watch only CNN or MSNBC or even ABC, CBS, or PBS. But (sigh) they probably don't read too many books.

Breaking the News by Alex Marlow is a very highly recommended examination of the weaponized fake news.

As the Editor-in-Chief of Breitbart News, Marlow is well acquainted with the tactics used by establishment media publications and their content creators who may insist they are neutral, but their reporting reveals obvious agendas and biases that favor the political left. The sheer volume of fake news generated coupled with new censorship tactics by the social media giants, or Masters of the Universe, during 2016-2020 is horrendous and continues on today. Numerous documented examples are given in Breaking the News to highlight the facts as Marlow presents them in a well organized fashion.

Marlo focuses on Bloomberg, CNN, The Washington Post, and The New York Times as well as the tech elite in Silicon Valley. He covers some of the numerous connections that exist between individuals in the journalism and media establishment and the government. They all form an elite group that will say what it wants to and spin stories to serve their agenda or that of their owners. You can clearly see the collusion between them when every content creator (they are not journalists) is repeating the exact same phase across all the mainstream media outlets. Their censorship tactics and strategies clearly emerged as they are telling people what to think rather than reporting the news.

The handling and coverage of the pandemic is also covered. The power these people have taken is overwhelming. It is still absurd that during all the riots, looting, and burning of cities that they wanted to spin it as peaceful. It is a well known and documented fact that social media has suppressed and controlled content and stories that do not follow the agenda the left wants to push. Their censorship and manipulation of the news, especially before the election, is frightening but keep in mind it is still ongoing today.

As Marlow points out, the time to be silent is over. Now is the time to start calling for holding Big Tech accountable for their anti-conservative bias, favoritism toward major corporations, and monopolistic tendencies. It’s time to speak out for your values and your country. The Left do not want compromise, they want compliance. Become one of them or they will come for you. It’s only a matter of time.

Alex Marlow is editor in chief of Breitbart News Network which ranks among the top five pure news websites in America according to Amazon owned Alexa.com. Marlow takes the reader down memory lane in much of the book with the numerous hoaxes which were shoved down our throats on a daily basis by the MSM. How can we ever forget the 'Covington Kids", "Jussie Smollett", "Bubba Wallace Noose", "Russia Hoax", or the double "Impeachment" hoaxes? It was while the Dems were distracting the country with one of the lame impeachments that the biggest epidemic in 100 years arrived and did nothing more than give President Trump and the nation a hard time. And how can we forget how the media and the Dems were calling President Trump a Xenophobe for blaming China for this virus. Well, turns out he was most likely correct and while all of this was going on and the media was blaming Trump, China was the only major economy to grow during 2020 with a growth spurt of 2.3%. During this time they surpassed the United States as the worlds biggest film market. The media didn't dispute China when they reported that they had the world's lowest death numbers and it was "As if Xi Jinping wrote the articles himself." Keeping citizens safe was always secondary; keeping them under control was the real mission. The goal of the media wasn't to stop the spread, it was to oust the "Bad Orange Man". Marlow does an excellent job of pulling all of the hoaxes together and naming the news organizations and big tech giants and holding them accountable...at least on paper. He gets into the election of 2019, as well. If you think your blood pressure can stand it, don't pass this book by

A must read, full of ironic humor, well found up-to-date facts and honest journalism.
Marrow tells the much needed (and seemingly obvious to some) story about the bias in America’s journalism today proliferated by corruption, power and money by a small few of the worlds rich.

There’s certainly a right leaning perspective in this book, but not the kind that attacks the reader to change their mind on their political beliefs, with welcome relief. He exposes the hypocrisy and wrongdoing inflicted on the right on behalf of the left wing media funded by some of the worlds biggest media magnates and executed by obedient political players. Marlow extensively unravels the influence and roles of key figures including: Zuckerburg, the Cuomo brothers, the Biden family, Laurene Powell Jobs (Steve Job’s wife) and George Soros. Meanwhile, identifying and explaining the narratives the left are purporting on issues such as, mail in voting, canceling, the Biden’s and China, BLM and Antifa and most importantly, the ‘big bad orange man’.

As an immigrant this book taught me so much about American media giants, and answered a lot of my curiosity surrounding the bias in media today. Yet I am curious to hear the response and opinion of those who solely tune in to CNN, MSNBC, Bloomberg and the likes after reading such an insightful and thought provoking book.

I believe this book is a strong call for all to open their eyes, exercise their critical thinking and honestly question what they’re reading, listening to and consuming daily and whether it aligns with their political beliefs. Marlow says it in his book, ‘use humor and persuasion to bring people to your side, not anger and violence.’ And in today’s day and age where anger, outrage and violence shapes much of the political sphere, this would be a radical act.

An easy 5 stars because everything I assumed happened or was going on was detailed in the book. For example, I would be frustrated to see article after article in the newspapers anything anti trump but no mention ever of his accomplishments. When he lost the election, I asked a liberal friend to at least acknowledge one accomplishment and she couldn't answer. In the book I found out it was because over 80% of liberals have never been exposed to any coverage on his accomplishments. The author gave so many examples of fake news and how the newspapers bury retractions, if retracted at all.
I felt the same as the author about the election, especially big tech influence. Today is a good day in our country for there is hope now with Trump suing the big three tech companies that 1st amendment rights will be restored and we will not head down the path of China.
Best advice in the book: support companies that support your ideals. Do not buy Made in China. And from now on, I will follow Brietbart, one of the top 5 most credible news sources.

Breaking the News is an excellent summary of how the news business has lost its way, from being an honest reporter of the events of the day to being completely in the tank for the Democratic party.

Alex Marlow, from his seat as editor of Breitbart, has seen it all and documents it thoroughly here. I only gave it a 4 for 2 reasons, maybe neither fair but ... First, there was noting new here. I had at least hoped to learn something, but as I stay up on the news there was nothing I wasn't already aware of. Second, just a nit, I disliked Alex's voice impressions which always sounded to me like the mocking impersonators on SNL and the like. It detracted rather than added.

If you're not a new junkie like me, there is a great deal of meat here and it's very important information. If you don't have a good understanding of how slanted the news business really is, you'll be rewarding really evil people who do not have your best interests at heart.

So TRUE, it can’t be TRUE! This book should be required reading for ALL TEACHERS!
It would be great if the politicians and press read it, but they never will. In fact, I have a relative that would never read it, for he thinks that Breitbart is not to be trusted. In truth, I thought that the book would have more “BLOCKBUSTER” information, but I was aware of most of the “weaponized fake news”. So, look out for the “MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE” who want to punish the “Bad Orange Man” and his supporters.....you & me. The media no longer want to “spin” on the news, they want to weaponize it. “Conform and obey or we will come after you”

Wow. I’m stunned. This book was an eye-opening journey into a world I have intuited - that journalism is skewed, corrupt and partisan, but I had no idea. Marlow is both a great writer and researcher. The book has over 50 pages of footnoted documentation. He is not blowing smoke. He has lit the MSM on fire.

I highly recommend for any political person, right or left. The news is broken, and we as citizens need to find a path forward for truth, no matter how it challenges and exposes our assumptions.

I knew reading this book would make my blood boil, and it did. The actions of the media and Big Tech are unconscionable, and like Marlow, I have no doubt that their well-orchestrated efforts made the difference in the 2020 election. What troubles me most is that the pandemic has exposed the soft underbelly of our society and the fact that too many citizens are, in fact, sheep, blindly being led by their overlords. Fight on, Breitbart!
