Book 2 in this series does not disappoint! Another fun mystery with great characters, great descriptions and a wonderful use of words. Bonnie is now starting classes but finds out all of her financial aid did not go through. So now besides taking classes and studying very hard to make her family proud, she has to find a part time job that will help her pay for school and some living expenses. Rooming with her best friend, outgoing Katie Lou she feels a little guilty that Katie is deferring any costs. And she also told Bonnie not to worry if she needs money she will help since she won the lottery and invested it so she's doing well. So she goes on a job hunt and gets disappointed a lot. Can she find the perfect job for her when her only experience is working the family farm? To top that off, while she is in one of her classes, her professor has a very embarrassing moment when his fiance barges in and broke the engagement i front of the class due to him cheating on her. Then one of his students heckles him and there is a physical fight that gets the professor fired. And she is in the library and finds the librarian that was helping her was the "other" woman. Wow. But when this professor turns up murdered and the police friend of hers, James, is one of the investigating officers, thanks to Katie Lou, she pushes Bonnie to investigate. Doesn't hurt that officer James really likes Bonnie and fills her in with investigative information. But there seem to be so many suspects and the professor seemed to have quite a few enemies, will they be able to solve this one? I love Bonnie, she is so naive trying to acclimate to the city life and Katie Lou is such a good friend and the opposite personality of Bonnie, much more outgoing. Then there is James who is so nice and so smitten with Bonnie that it is cute. James' boss, Knox always seems to have a scowl, but deep down I know he has a heart. But you can't forget Katie Lou and Bonnie's housemate/per Sylvester a dwarf pygmy goat. I can't wait to see what will happen next with Bonnie , Katie Lou and James. You will be surprised by the ending. I received an ARC of this book but the opinion expressed here are strictly my own.

Although this is only the second book in this series it already feels like a favourite, The concept is quite simple, but nonetheless very effective: a young woman called Bonnie, who has grown up on a farm, moves to the city to attend university, she moves in with a school friend who has an apartment where she has lived since she left the country town having won a lot of money on the lottery. Oh and they share the apartment with a goat that suffers from dwarfism.
Being a cozy mystery series there are of course suspicious deaths, in this book it is one of Bonnie's professors who gets killed, just after his girlfriend bursts into his class and throws her ring back at him because she has just found out that he was already engaged to another woman.
Inevitably there are several suspects and the police don't seem to be able to solve the mystery. Bonnie is friendly with a local detective, but not as friendly as he would like to be, and she manages to find various clues which she passes to him, and eventually manages to find the culprit.
Alongside this sleuthing Bonnie finds out that she isn't going to get as much financial assistance as she thought, so she has to try and find a job to pay for her tuition fees, which turns out to be easier said than done.
I enjoyed this book because there are some very amusing characters, a clever plot and a satisfying amount about Bonnie's life away from the mystery, which makes the whole book much more readable, and fun.

Bonnie Boone has headed off to attend college in the city but college is expensive, especially when she finds the financial aid she had counted on has been reduced due to a paperwork mistake she and her dad made. So in addition to attending classes and studying, she is going to need to get a job to help pay the bills – and squeeze all of that into her allotted time. When Professor Richard Smitz turns up dead, can Bonnie find room to add investigating a murder mystery to her already overloaded schedule? Will her police officer friend, James Carson, welcome her to join him unofficially on the case? Bonnie is so easy to talk to that in no time she was chatting with Janice, who had dated the professor not knowing he was engaged, and Elizabeth, the ex-fiancée who had a big fight with him when she found out. So maybe she could be a real help to the police.

I am becoming a total fan of this series! Just as with the previous book, I loved this story from the first page to the last! There was never a dull moment! The story was fun, crazy, and adorable. The characters were incredible and felt like old friends this time around. Keeping in touch with Katie Lou and Sebastian, even for a brief visit, is a must! Grab your copy and see if Bonnie can find some clues to lead to the murderer!

I really enjoyed Bonnie's second adventure in the big city! Katie Lou is such an awesome friend to her and made it known that she'd never let her leave her education behind due to needing financial aid. Bonnie had the bad news of losing some of hers, then not long after that, one of her professors was murdered in his office. Along with her police officer friend James, Bonnie wanted to unravel this mystery and try to find a job, both of which happened when the ending was wrapped up.

I hadn't suspected whodunit right away, but the more little clues popped up, I figured out what might be going on. It was an awesome mystery and storyline. Little Sebastian the goat even had his own story this time--no worries, it had nothing to do with him getting into anyone's car this time. I'm anxious to see how Bonnie's new job goes in the next book!

I can’t wait for the next book in this delightful series. Bonnie has been busy preparing for the 1st week of university studies to begin. Suddenly she has so many balls bouncing on her plate: walking Sylvester, the dwarf goat, she and her roommate, Katie Lou, have raised since he was born; during orientation, Bonnie learns her financial aid will be cut in half and so she begins an intensive job search; Officer Joe and she goes on a few dates and when one of her professors is found murdered on campus, Bonnie is once more able to assist the police with her sharp detail of circumstances of individuals involved. This is an adorable cozy mystery—a quick read with great dialogue and responsible young supportive characters. I received an arc copy of this book and I voluntarily write this review.

REVIEW ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Criminals on Campus by Susan Harper is the second installment in the Country Girl in the Big City Cozy Mystery series. Bonnie has finally settled into her new life in the big city and her classes are about to get underway, but the expenses of college are more than she bargained for. She needs to find a job, and fast! And if that is not enough, one of her professors is found murdered in his office. Bonnie has a lot on her plate—finding a way to pay tuition, finding a job and finding a cold blooded killer. ⠀

For the pure fun factor this one does not disappoint. It is a light and easy read full of entertaining characters and amusing antics. The mystery is simple and easy to follow, but Ms Harper always manages an unexpected twist at the end. I have to continue on with the series for no other reason than to see if a romance develops between Bonnie and the handsome officer James. And who can resist Sylvester the miniature goat?⠀

Bonnie faces the classic issue of problems with financial aid. And the often offered solution of more student loans really can haunt you for a lifetime- not great if you are building a business like her family farm

An overly friendly, cheating professor is confronted by a fiancee full of scorn, and loses control with a student. When the professor is found dead, which suspects are likely? The assaulted student? The women in his life? Someone connected to them?

Bonnie may finally have a lead on a job with a vet office - can she finally put her farm skills to work?

Bonnie is enjoying the big city but then something happens and she might have to leave but Katie Lou being the friend that she is says Bonnie doesn't have to worry about financial woes and then one of Bonnie's teachers is murdered in his office so with the help of Dave the officers help she will find out who did it. We can't forget Sebastian the goat he is back with his own adventures but this time its not in the police car. I will recommend this book to my friends again because this series is getting interesting.

Another charming cozy by Susan Harper! Bonnie has left the farm to go to college in the big city. The first week of classes doesn’t go as planned when the body of one of her professors is found dead in his office. Bonnie and her roommate Katie Lou just can’t keep themselves from investigating despite the fact that her new love interest, James, the local policeman, wants her to stay out of it. Wonderful characters, lots of laughs, and the wonderful pet miniature goat, Sylvester, will keep you reading to the end!

Bonnie’s life on campus is getting off to a rough start. First she finds out her funding had been cut and then one of her professors is murdered. What’s a girl to do? Solve the murder while job hunting, of course! This is a cute cozy mystery with a nice plot and engaging characters. I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next one. These characters are so much fun! Bonnie is starting college and a murder happens on her 2nd day! But it does let her hang out with James, the cute police officer. Especially since she was witness to some things that help the investigation. Katie Lou jumps into the investigation and even scales the side of a building to get into an open window! Crazy stuff! Real fun read.

What an unfortunate snafu with Bonnie’s financial aid. She is quite busy with classes, looking for a job, getting to know Officer James, as well as solving another murder. The police department should have hired her as a consultant! I am seriously enjoying this series! I love the characters especially Sylvester. I can’t wait to read the next book!
