Tribes #2

Stolen

Rate this book
No male in the tribal lands would stoop so low as to steal a prize instead of winning her fair and square.

Nar

There’s a reason I’m standing knee-deep in mud, my body pelted with rain that annoys me to the bone. I'm hating on the rival tribe, and I’m entering their games only to eliminate their Earl. I'm not here for the prize.

The moment I spot the female—who’s shivering, miserable, but still managing to spit at her captors—I forget I'm not competing for her. My heart thumps in my ears, and the hunter steers.

I wanna win her.

Michelle

Once upon a recent time, I traveled on a ship bound for a sun-and-sea vacation planet. Until it crashed, and the natives captured and threw me in a hole—then dragged me in front of a couple hundred warriors who’re here competing for breeding rights.

I hate them all. Except for the one who seems not quite like the others. Oh, he’s pretty much like them, but some instinct within me tells me if I stop throwing my inner pity party and do as I’m told, I just might survive…

Nar

Ask me how I feel about stealing the prize now.

This is the second book in this series and though I didn’t enjoy it as much as the first one I did finish and it was mostly an ok read. Unfortunately, there was also something that felt slightly missing as well. Here we focus on Harts brother Nar and Michelle a human woman currently being offered as a prize in the Ra tribe’s games. Nar and Mas are in enemy territory using the games as an excuse for assassination but instead, Nar is much more focused on claiming and stealing the human woman offered as the prize.

So I wasn’t feeling much of a connection between the two main characters here. I didn’t feel any great affection from Nar towards Michelle other than the obvious and I felt that with her anyone who rescued her would do and in this case it just happened to be Nar. The story also felt a bit all over the place and I would have liked some more extensive world-building as I’m still slightly confused about a few things then there was the finish which felt very abrupt.

I did enjoy the first book in the series but this one not so much. It does have an imaginative idea at the centre and I do like that the males here are so very primal in there ways. The writing here was also ok it just felt a bit stripped back lacking greater details. I will maybe read the next one in the series mostly because of the animal nature of the aliens which was my favourite part I’m just not sure yet.

I've binge read a few if this author's books over the last few days but this is far and away the most chaotic and confusing. The whole goddess/ female thing threw me way off as well.

3 stars!

This is the second book in the Tribes series and features Nar and Michelle. We are back in this unique world that Jacks has created with tribes and games. Nar is tasked with going after an Earl in the rival tribe but when he goes to enter the games, disposing of the Earl becomes second on his list when he realizes Michelle is meant to be his. She awakens his primal part and both man and hunter are now looking to compete for her.

Michelle has crash landed on a planet she knows next to nothing about, thrown into a hole and then told she will be the prize in some games that the tribe is conducting. Michelle is hungry, cold and angry but when she notices Nar she realizes he may be the ticket to her survival. Thrown together, their relationship blooms but there are other forces trying to keep them apart. What will happen?!

This was fast and was missing some explanations again for me. It had Jacks' signature humor though and I found myself laughing out loud a few times. While it had steamy bits in it, those steamy bits were missing something. Connection maybe? I liked this and like the first one, these stories have so much potential but I can't quite put my finger on what it's missing. Overall, if you want a funny, steamy and quick Sci-Fi read, this was a decent one.

Bonkers. Alpha male alien bdsm play. I think you should read the series in order. It’s funny and over the top.

OMG, this book had the same over-the-top humor that all Milana Jacks have, with all their “fitness” and “hookers” references...lmao. And every time he mentions his fitness, I lose it...Every. Damn. Time. I think it’s because he is so confident, direct, and all alpha. It’s hilarious.
Fitness examples:
“You’re welcome to assess my fitness, female.”
“You’ve assessed my fitness.”
“You are admiring my fitness,” he concludes with a sniff.
Hooker examples:
“Eyes off the prize, hooker.” Hooker is a derogatory term for a male who releases a hook and marks a female. (So not what you’re thinking at all...and, that’s why it’s so damn funny.)
“I’m such a hooker and regret nothing.”
Seriously, I couldn’t make this up if I wanted to, I laughed so hard. Love Milana Jacks over the top humor.

Nar is Hart’s brother from book 1, and no less entertaining, and no less over-the-top dominant aka bossy predator. Hart sends Nar and Mas to their enemy tribes hunter games for another human female, to do a job, which Nar loses focus on pretty quick. Michelle is the “prize” at their games, and the cause of Nar’s lost focus. See, guys are the same no matter where they’re at...squirrel aka female.

Loved this storyline, this couple wraps up, but the storyline continues. Plenty of sarcastic over-the-top humor. A dominant alpha predator, and the object of his lust. Our favorites from book 1, Hart and Stephanie. And some new favorites, Mas being one for sure. Safe read, and a hfn. Next book please.

This is....Disappointing. Period.

I read the first book and decided to give the series a try because the first book was not bad because of the humor. This one was slightly more disappointing in the last because of the fact that the male character Nar seemed to enjoy hurting his captive bride. This is not like Jacks’s other series’. This is subpar because the aspect of dominant alphas changing the name of the captive’s is annoying and a little insulting. You can’t even remember your girl’s name? For real. Also, the willingness of the captive’s to accept the whole ordeal is unrealistic. It’s not instalove but insta-Stockholm with this series. There’s a disconnect in the relationships that makes this just seem like a coerced-rape situation. To me, that’s not romantic or instalove.

Take this review with a grain of salt but I don’t recommend this one. The smut was underwhelming. There was a lot of talk on collars, leashes and one choking scene. So there’s that. Also, the heroine wears a leash for too long I thought. In my opinion, when the BDSM boudoir games bleed into every interaction, then it’s no longer fun.

It is, however, a must read if you want to continue the series. Just to be able to follow the general plot lines. Short read so go ahead and enjoy.

Putting the book aside, I really think I want to be friends with Milana Jacks. I think I’m in love with her :

“Hooker is a derogatory term for a male who releases a hook and marks a female. A selfish male who wants a female only for himself. Both my father and brother are hookers. I’m no hooker.”

I wasn't the biggest fan of the first book, but I wanted to give the series a chance because it had some intriguing concepts. However, I again had a hard time keeping up with the writing. The hunting games in the background that the plot was based on were all but forgotten, so the plot was just kind of confusing? And the romance did not do it for me. Their relationship seemed way too transactional, not romantic at all.

I think this series may just not be for me!

To fast

It's such a fast read... again the ending felt abrupt and again instant love and sex. I just wished this series of books were a lot longer and no insta love.

A simply captivating read, great characters and plot
This is a simply splendid read where we are looking at a society where their beliefs are verry different and yet equally as valued and important to them. They have no scruples or shame for their actions they see only their desired goal and will do whatever it takes.
Michelle had simply been on holiday when she had been taken and thrown into a hole in the jungle, then drugged. Waking up she finds herself in front of a group of men all now competing for breeding rights, totally unbelievable and yet if she had not seen it herself!!!
Nar knows that this is not the usual proud way in which the competing males battle against each other to win the hand of the female they want for themselves, only the bravest and smartest usually win.
Not a strange woman from other lands that has obviously been stolen from her life and drugged and then wakes in a cage, this is not their way and he knows that he has to have this prize and will do whatever it takes to gain her.
She is beautiful. Feisty and strong willed he cannot wait to get to know her and make her his.
Michelle has very different ideas to Nar, who will win this battle?
I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

Good, but I liked the first one better.

I really seem to enjoy the first in the series books by this author. But for whatever reason, by book 2 I lose interest. I really enjoyed how different this series is compared to other alien series. But while she digs more into the arch of the series, I feel lost. Something is wrong with Earth? We are trying to populate other planets? This wasn't really mentioned in the first book, so it confused me. Also while I liked the characters, Michelle was kind of annoying. She was very wishy washy about her brother; on one hand she was escaping from his brutal control, but other times it read she was on some mission for him. She was worried about her brother getting his hands on all the Ka's technology and using the warriors as an army. But how would he find them? But while the plot holes annoyed me, I enjoyed the banter and really want to read Ark's story!

Spoilers (book is graphic sexually)

So now we have Michelle and Nar. Nar goes to the Ra games and is supposed to kill the Earl. Instead he finds himself drawn to the prize. (Michelle) Somehow the human females are the goddesses of these humanoid aliens. Not quite sure how that works, but it does. Nar falls for Michelle during the games and a fight breaks loose. During the chaos of it all Nar steals Michelle and take her to Ka territory. This will inevitably cause more problems, but in the midst of all this he has left his friend behind. When he goes back to find Mas he finds out that there is another female somewhere that has caught Mas attention, but they leave after knocking Mas unconscious. At the end we find out that Stephanie is indeed capable of carrying Hart children or at least it's hinted at. I guess we will find out more about Mas and his goddess in the next book.

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Michelle crashed her pod on a strange planet where she is captured and thrown into a hole in the ground. However long later she is hauled out and finds she's the prize for a monstrous alien who wins a three day two night game. Only that doesn't happen as two friends grab her and take off. Nar has decided she belongs to him and takes her far away where the first thing he does is warm her up.
The friendship that develops between them is brutal, dirty, and very addictive as she realizes she doesn't want to leave him - ever. There is adventure, unexpected meeting of another Earth woman, new rituals to be learned and gotten used to and the journey with her is an interesting one.
Highly recommend any book with Milana Jacks' name on the cover.

🔥 “Do you want to see the rest of my fitness?”
~~~
Nar is a rough, sexy, dominant, bossy and possessive predator. And he’s determined to get the prize no matter what. He’s shameless as has no hesitations about doing anything to claim his goddess.
Michelle is feisty, strong-willed and smart. She’ll do everything to survive this new world she’s crashed into. But as the story goes, she gets more than just survival - she finds a place where she can thrive and be happy and adored.
Their relationship is so very dirty and steamy. And all the “fitness” and “hooker” references cracked me up!
I really liked the friendship between Nar and Mas, their banters were so much fun.
Overall, the story is filled with action, humor and steam and it’s a great addition to the series.
Can’t wait to see what happens next!
Just as entertaining and fun of a read as it’s predecessor if not better! 💯
Mild dubious consent.
(Lack of choices due to circumstances)
Dub-con is my guilty pleasure. Especially when the men would do anything for their ladies😉
Kinda like fated mates where the pull between is there from the get go.
Possessive, dominate, sexy alpha males. Yum.
Oh and the alien men are “hookers.” 👁👄👁
(Literally because they got these soft “hook” on their dick that they can hook one female in their lifetime lol)
No other woman/man. No cheating.
One person in one life’s ❤️
Omegaverse elements where the alpha’s purr can trigger Genesis 7:17.
Honestly I laughed so hard whilst reading this series that I now have a solid 1 pac. 😂😂
Highly recommended!
Would I re-read? HECK YEAH!
Onto the next book!
Nar is one sexy Hooker!
Nar has been ordered to assassinate an Earl of a rival tribe. When he sees the female prize for the Game, he can think of nothing else.
Michelle has been kept in a dark, wet hole since her capture. She doesn't know what planet she's on or what the Game is. She just needs
to stay alive long enough for her brother to find her.
So Nar Makes a deal with her. If she'll only play with him, he'll keep her safe until then.
Simple right? Think again.
Nar will make you laugh and gasp as he goes after and claims his goddess!
Sexy, dirty, possessive and soo good!
An enjoyable sci-fi romance.
The world building was competent. The plot and pacing were quick and exciting. The characterization was good, with both hero and heroine being sympathetic individuals with strengths and weaknesses. The development of the romantic relationship was hot. This novel contained several of my favorite tropes, so I quite enjoyed it. Those tropes were the Mars Needs Women trope, the Breeder trope, and the Mating Bond trope. It also contained some power play reminiscent of BDSM, which I quite enjoyed. This was a delicious little snack of a novel on a hard day.
Very Dominant
Nar and Mas enter enemy territory in order to try to pull off an assassination during the Hunt for a human female. But things don't go as planned as soon as he sees and scents the female.
Nar is a bit twisted and a Michelle loves it. Michelle is believed to be Aoa, godess of fire and pain so of course she is just as twisted as Nar is. But who is controlling whom?
This book is great! But while I loved it, it may not be for everyone. If you don't enjoy to read about dominant alpha alien men who like to be in control at all times, then you probably won't like this book. There is a strong D/s vibe in this story.
Doodling ~~ OMG! I loved reading this story. This is a voluntary Advanced Reader Copy review of ‘Stolen’. I liked how the pre-story started. It gave the key players, status and relationship to each other. It caught me up to speed real quick, since I’ve read 65+ books since,‘Marked’. The storyline flow just continued, and added to it. It kept me smiling, and I enjoyed reading it. I loved the quote, ‘It’s all wind inside’ by Mas, and was laughing so hard, because of reality. I’m so ready for book 3 to get here.
I love the story and its steamy with humor. Nar goes to a neighboring tribe to kill the leader. He finds a female for himself. Michelle was kidnapped and ended up on Noma Prime. She is taken prisoner by Nor's enemy and kept in a deep hole in the ground. She is brought up and told she is for the winner of the games. She is also told not to accept gifts from Nor or his companion. The games consist of males bringing her gifts and her choosing the gifts from the male. She chooses Nor's gift anyway. What will happen now? I read an arc of this book and this is my honest review.
What I liked: the banter between the men. Their crazy alien way of thinking. That was fun. The glimpse into their culture.
What I didn't like: the woman. Her submissive character, her spoiled sheltered naivety, her ignorance, her her subdued masochism. Her dumb decision making.
I really didn't like that the women in those books are passive, submissive and they don't take their lives into their own hands. They let the men do that. It annoys me to no end. Is this what generations of women fought for? No! Is that what we women nowadays should aspire to be like? He'll the fuck NO!
Not as good as the first.
First off, Nar was enraptured by the scent of panties and set off to find the girl who’s panty scent he was obsessed with then he convinced himself he was obsessed with Michelle and then we find out the panties wasn’t even hers?! Like he’s part predator he should have know the moment he got near this girl that the scent he was obsessed with wasn’t her and he just was a dickhead about everything and forced Michelle to make very uncomfortable choices all the time. I couldn’t even finish too many rapey vibes and forced choices.
Couldn’t finish it
I thought I’d give the second book in this series a go after the first but couldn’t finish it. Lots of unnecessary detail and strange dialogue not authentic to the setting or characters. Zero sexual tension between the charters. Cohesion of ideas and story also makes the story difficult to follow. Characters actions and reactions bizarre at times. Lastly, the lead male has the friend there in the tent - not a MMF book so his presence in the plot detracts - both have very similar names and makes following who is taking difficult to follow.
I just didn't like this book. I LOVED IT!! I think Ms. Jacks is such a talented writer and I love her sense of humor. The sex is quite graphic so if you are embarrassed by such things this book is not for you. Lots of profanity but I don't mind it because I am adept at swearing myself (sometimes it is a necessity)! If you like a story that is different from other "Science Fiction" books you have read then read this book. Think I am already addicted to this series and anything by this author.
Don’t walk run to get this book.
I’m not eloquent enough with words, so short, sweet and blunt is me. This series rivals the Horde series (which I worship) in who will be my favorite. If you even liked the Horde series with a Meh, then the tribes series guys are not only going to blow your mind but lady parts will buzz constantly. These guys are beyond sexy, testosterone driven love bugs. Get book, read book and tell me thank you 😊
Delightful
How can I not give this book 5 stars. I love alien book reads, however this book is one I will definitely read again.
Nar and Mas are funny, hilarious and their verbal banting made me giggle like a young school girl. Michelle’s character is feisty and gives Nar a run for his money.
If you want to spend the day with a wonderful book with just enough alien hotness, humor, and feel good then this is the book for you.
SHUT UP! Really liked this one. No simpering female here. I think there is a ton of room to expand this into a bigger story that would add more world and character depth. Its the only thing lacking but it reads complete just like every other Jacks book. I guess I just wanted MORE and I don't usually have that feeling. Still in love with the style of series progression and am super excited for the next book.
I love you and your brain Milana Jacks.
I love the fact that Nar was a bit more unhinged than Hart. I was a bit disappointed though that basically there were 2.5 sex scenes.
I love Michelle aka Aoa. I loved that she made practical choices.
I, however, want to know the science behind each woman's Godlyness/Godhood.
I am looking forward to Mas' book.
Loved the puns. Loved the expressions aka his head is winded.
Loved it!
Perfect....
You have all loved the Alpha series and this is just as good. Our talented writer hits another one out of the park. Nars is so freaking dirty and sweet smart Melissa is so in love with him. She's been treated so awful and he's just the one to make her feel like the Goddess he believes she is. The romance is hot hot hot and the story just keeps improving. Next Mas gets his girl. Can't wait
