Everyone adores Miss May...except the guilty.

In a small town, where neighbors know each other, lawn chairs come out in the spring, and if you sit around chatting long enough, someone brings you pie, there are still skeletons in every closet. Luckily for Pine Grove, Miss May has a nose for crime.

The body was found face-down in the orchard.

Chelsea’s not sure crime-fighting is her strong suit. She’s up at her Aunt May’s farm recovering from heartbreak, after all, trying to forget the guy who left her at the altar. But when cousin Maggie’s fiancé is murdered, Chelsea’s own botched wedding seems like less of a big deal.

Who would have killed him?

The handsome and charming Detective Wayne thinks it’s Maggie.

Miss May and Chelsea know he’s wrong, but they don’t have proof. There’s a killer on the loose in their little town and they’re determined to find the culprit.

The plots in these books were good but the typos and grammar errors distracted from the overall quality of the books. I hope this is limited to the ebooks as I would be very upset if I had a print book of this quality. They need to fire their proof readers and get new ones. I got tired of the redundancy of explaining everything in each book. I have to assume this was to make each book a stand alone read but I would rather read a series with only minor reminders of previous books.

I've read the series from the beginning when it first came out. This is a series that is great reading. I'll read anything she writes. You will love riding along with the characters in these books.

When the first word of the first book is grotesquely misspelled, there's no incentive to read further. One star, DNF after one word.

It was 'okay'. I enjoyed the first one, which set the scene for the rest of the 9 books in the 10 book set. However, by about book 4 I was wanting the series to end. By book 8 I was pretty over it all. And by book 10 I was glad it was done. I like that there's a recipe book at the end, might even try some of the recipes.

I found this series to require very little thinking. It wasn't a difficult read, nor was it hard to figure out the culprit in each story. However, I found the numerous typos and mistakes hard to take - if it's been published, surely someone has actually read it through and found the typos?!

I also found some of the dialogue to be forced, overly cute, or just downright annoying. The boyfriend is just cringe-worthy. The way every interaction with the detective is a cause for spouting cliches and romance overtures is annoying. I'm glad I finished it because I don't like giving up on reading things once I've started, however I'm also glad it's over!

Stories are okay but somewhat repetitive and regular typos are off-putting. I don't like Americanisms and the regular details of the three main characters terrible diet, is something I can do without. I don't see myself reading any more 'Chelsea Thomas'.

1 - Chelsea is left at the alter and slips into a deep funk. Her aunt comes to NJ to "rescue" her by offering her a job decorating events for the farm. Unfortunately the very first one she does is a wedding that ends up with a dead groom. Her, Aunt May and Teeney all team up together to solve the case when the local sheriff deems it an accident.

Great read and I can't wait to read the next two.

2 - In the second book, there is the budding romance between Chelsea and the handsome detective. They team up to solve another murder

3 - In this one, Chelsea and Miss May have to solve the murder on their own as Detective Hudson has turned against them. They are getting ready for the 20th annual Candy Apple Hoedown when they have a run in with the neighbors. One of them is murdered by eating a poisoned apple. KP is blamed for the
murder and Chelsea and Miss May do everything in their power to prove him innocent

4 - Chelsea and Miss May are at it again. They have to solve several mysteries in this episode. Their town has been take over by an infamous real estate developer and his plans even affect Teeny and her restaurant. They must all work together to solve the murder.

5 - Chelsea and Miss May are involved in yet another murder. In this one the cranky Granny Smith is murdered.

Book 6 - Candy Slain

the scariest headline ever written shows up in the Pine Grove Gazette during the holiday season.
Chelsea and Miss May need to find another killer during the Christmas holiday. The killer
is making everyone look over their shoulders and take care in what they are doing.

Book 7 - Shot through the tart

Miss May and Chelsea get to go to a play but it doesn't turn out as they thought. One of the actors is killed. Everyone
thought that it was part of the play but the actor never got up to take a bow. Now it appears that something or
someone from Chelsea's past is out to get her.

Book 8 - Peaches and scream

It's peach season again and Miss May throws another party to celebrate. The whole town shows up to snack on their
favorite peach treats and drink their favorite peach drinks. Sadly the party is interrupted by a dead body in
the bakeshop. One big problem, only Miss May and Chelsea have keys to the building. Now they have to solve this
murder to keep Chelsea out of jail

Book 9 - Dread and butter

One of Chelsea's favorite foods is bread but she tries to not eat too much of it due to the carbs. Now, however, someone is using her favorite food as a murder weapon and she needs to solve the crime to keep out of jail.

10 - Smoking Bun - This is the 10th book in this series and they just keep getting better. In this one, Chelsea and Miss May team up with Teeny to solve yet another murder.

Life in a small town is like living in a fish bowl. Everyone knows everyone else and they all know everybody's business. They are fighting the clock to get this one solved before one of them end up in jail.

This boxset includes the first ten books of this Apple Orchard Cozy Mystery series, Apple Die; Cooking the Books; Candy Apple Killer; Berried Alive; Granny Smith; Candy Slain; Shot Through the Tart; Peaches and Scream; Dread and Butter; and The Smoking Bun.

One of the main characters is Chelsea Thomas, who after being jilted at the altar and having her soon to be husband clear out her business and personal funds, returns to the small town where her Aunt May runs the local Apple Orchard and runs a bakeshop on site. Her aunt looked after her after both her parents were killed in a tragic car accident. Together with her Aunt May who used to be a fierce prosecutor in New York City, until she retired, and their friend Tiny, who runs a restaurant in town, they help solve a lot of the murders that seem to always happen in this small town. The local police detective Wayne Hudson is rather handsome and there is an attraction between both him and Chelsea, but it never seems to move on too far. He is always inefficient at his job, possibly more by the influence and orders of the police chief Sunshine, who does not live up to her name, and who nearly always states each murder is either an accident or a suicide!

The three friends end up solving every murder in each book, always named after food, which also plays a large role in the stories, with Aunt May always offering some sort of pie, bread or cookie to the people they want to question as possible suspects, soon leading most in the town to fear their foodie offerings and the message they carry! Each dead body is part of a complex mystery that needs to be solved and the three women are crucial to finding the real killer and saving the innocent from being falsely accused and arrested, including themselves quite often! Lots of fun, close friendly relationships, yummy recipes and testing of new creations, plus clean storytelling and mysteries afoot. Fun capers with a bit of food and romance, but the main part of each story is always the close relationship between the three women and their search for the truth, amidst all the untruths and their ultimate desire for justice for the victims. I received an ARC copy of this boxset from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the boxset above.

A lovely, family-friendly box to provide reading matter for more than a week.

Apple Die: Allow most of a day for this PG-13 (little ones will find it too confusing) story of bumbling amateur detectives.

Cooking the Books: Allow a day to savor this family-friendly mystery that I cannot say anything else about because of spoilers.

Candy Apple Killer: Allow a full day for this family-friendly mystery set mostly in Pine Grove with snippets of See-Saw the tiny horse.

Berried Alive: A nice, family-friendly cozy that can be read in one very long day, set around Pine Grove, New York, and featuring berries,

Granny Smith Is Dead: "I used tools, mostly." and "But it is always worthwhile to love." are neck and neck for my favorite quote from Granny Smith Is Dead, which is family-friendly although taking a VERY long day to read (or maybe I just had too many interruptions).

Candy Slain: This family-friendly episode from Pine Grove, New York occurs in December and takes about a day to read.

Shot Through the Tart: Spend a day reading about Pine Grove, NY in late March when there is "a crime against Pine Grove" and *the power of prayer* is demonstrated.

Peaches and Scream: Spend a day with this family-friendly "operatic tragedy" (according to Teeny) when another body is found at Miss May's Thomas Family Fruit and Fir Farm in Pine Grove, NY after the Peach Party. Chelsea Thomas trips over her own feet a LOT and, like all good operas, there are laughs.

Dread and Butter: Set aside a day for this family-friendly account of the mayoral race in Pine Grove, New York, which opens with the Mayoral Debate on the last Friday in September, of course, with Chelsea, Miss May, and Teeny in attendance.

The Smoking Bun: It all starts with Teeny slamming plates in the kitchen at *Grandma's* and continues at Chelsea Thomas's usual breathless pace. Family-friendly and takes about a day to read

Cozy Mystery Cookbook: Lovely little cookbook collects nine fairly-easy recipes from her Apple Orchard series in one book.

There's plenty of humour mixed in!

Chelsea gets dumped at the alter and loses not just her husband to be but her home and interior design business. Orphaned as a teen she was brought up by her aunt, Miss May, on the family apple farm. Miss May decides to rescue Chelsea from wallowing in the city and bring her back home to Pine Grove for a fresh start.

This coincides with Chelsea's cousin Maggie's wedding and when Chelsea finds groom dead at the rehearsal dinner and the Pine Grove police department are particularly inept starts off a chain of events that lead to Miss May and Chelsea taking on the case. With the help of Teeny, who runs the diner in town and provides plenty of giggles in her own right, they solve the case before the police and become the go to sleuthing team in town.

With Miss May producing apple pies magically from her bag to sweeten the deal with the suspects, Teeny providing plenty of original dishes (see recipes at the end) to keep them nourished and energised it's Chelsea who is left to do the physical tasks of a spot of breaking and entering and using her brown belt karate skills to take down the killers at the end, keeps the comedy moving with her frequent bouts of foot in mouth syndrome and stress sweating!

With a well drawn cast of quirky locals who help, and sometimes hinder, their investigations, a love interest or two for Chelsea and the erratic Pine Grove PD trying to prevent them from helping it's laughs most of the way.

Light-hearted, enjoyable read, perfect for the holidays.

The main characters in this book are very different from each other yet each is quirky in their own way. Amy and Grandma move from Pine Grove to Toluca Lake, CA to get away from Amy's horrible relationship and to open a dog grooming business that grooms every type of animal. With their friend Betsy a wannabe script writer helping at the shop, the three have found a wonderful life in their town while taking care of animals and solving crime since the police are inept at investigations. Add to that is Amy's cat, Fluffy a snarky, cat in love with the neighbor cat, Queen Elizabeth and has his own friends and gurus he goes to for some psychology. Not only does he sometimes help in solving clues but he has a mouse friend and dog that he sometimes is nice to. Granny is a hoot. She is a consummate gambler and is very good at it and knows all the private casinos. So when she is not running down clues to murders with Amy and Betsy, she is gambling. And we also have two men interested in Amy, one being a police officer who although he tries to keep the trio from investigating, does help with some info on the crimes. This series is amazing and so much fun and the characters are so quirky you just can't help but laugh out loud! I received and ARC of this series but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

Unusual

If you like easy reading, quirky characters, inept police, outrageous detecting, and unexpected conclusions, you’ll love these mysteries. If repetition and clichés drive you crazy, maybe not so much. This series is definitely different. It’s easy to put down. I thought I’d quit after finishing each of the first few books, but they just kept tugging me back. Every story details background information, so any single book can stand alone. Pine Grove, the delightful village in which the series is set, has an abundance of murders. We meet the residents as victims or by way of their involvement in the investigations. I could have done without Chelsea’s exaggerated emotions and descriptions of her excessive sweating. Every place the three women went unrealistically exuded one feeling or another. All that being said, I enjoyed the books and would have just kept reading if there’d been more. Big plus—there are recipes at the end.

Cute series full of quirky characters and lots of small town warmth and nosiness. This is a great series for anyone that enjoys mysteries that are complex enough to challenge the reader but not strain the brain when you're relaxing with a book. I have read each book individually but this box set is giving me the incentive to binge read them again.

Just a taste of the characters:
Miss May owns a farm/orchard and carries an apple pie in her purse at all times
Teeny owns Grandmas Restaurant and would eat sprinkles 24 hours a day if she could
Chelsea got dumped at the alter and had her business stolen by her fiancé
Police Chief Flannigan is perfect in every way except for her ability to do her job
Liz is reporter/editor of the town paper and a master of disguise
Just a sample of the people you'll meet and get to know as you read this series. Have fun!

This boxed set collects 1-10 of this cozy mystery series, which certainly provides a lot of entertainment. These are clean cozy mysteries filled with plenty of humor and all the little elements you would expect from this genre. If you like small towns, interesting characters and the occasional witty banter, these should suite you fine.

The stories are well written with easy to follow plots, but that does not mean easy to solve mysteries. There are enough twists and turns during the investigations to keep the reader guessing until the end. The characters are also fun and well developed as is the setting. Overall, with ten stories in this collection you get plenty of relaxing entertainment.

Highly recommended.

The Hudson valley is a great location for a village that seems to attract murders. It is close to NYC for checking for clues for the amateur sleuths. They are cozies so no gore unless you have a vivid imagination. Aunt May owns an apple and fir tree farm, bakes great cookies and can somehow carry full size apple pies in her purse. Her friend Teeny runs Grandma’s restaurant and finds any reason to put sprinkles on most everything sweet. And Chelsea, young, spirited, and with two totally different men who would love to date her. Various law enforcement officers, business owners, coworkers and small a small horse round out the cast that help these three feisty women find the mud erred before the local police force

The Apple Orchard Mysteries: All Ten Books is a great way to get your start on the Apple Orchard series.

I started this series with book 8, Peaches and Screams and have continued on.

I haven’t completed all the books in this set, but has been great catching up and seeing how Miss May brought Chelsea back to the farm in more detail and what her early days were like back in Pine Grove.

Chelsea, Miss May, and Teeny make a great team. They really care about each other. There is a also lot of humor in this series. I’d love one of Miss May’s apple pies!

Review

Why is Chelsea's surname the same as her Aunt's if her mother (May's sister) was married?
Who would name a child Germany?
Why is he so absolutely ridiculous?
If Chelsea professes to love him, why is she always yearning after Wayne?
No one, absolutely no one, in Britain uses hot milk in tea!!!
Teeny is pathetic, childish and annoying. Chelsea portrays herself as fat without saying she's fat.
Numerous spelling errors/typos, food obsession, constant references to  hyperhydrosis.
Hercules, the police officer, suddenly, mid-paragraph, becomes Rabbit, the murder victim!
I only read all 10 because I never give up, and always hoped that something, anything(!), might improve!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

These book's had me gripped from the very first book Apple Die, because of the characters and how well it was written. And from there they have just gotten better with our three intrepid heroines swooping in and saving the day, with some hilarity along the way. Especially with Teeny and her way of speaking her mind, before thinking
I love how the characters grow throughout the series.

Deceptively savvy series!
In these cozy mysteries, you will greet Chelsea, Miss May, and Teeny…as well as other rather quirky characters. While murder is a serious enterprise, the relationships amongst the townspeople are sprinkled with humor. Our trio of ladies seem to attract mayhem, unfortunately on a regular basis. Each book in the series is rather delicious in its own way…the culinarily artful titles are quite clever, just like the gals!

Brilliantly lighthearted and full of charm

I love the writing style. Lighthearted, but with an ever so slightly sarcastic tone. And I mean that in a good way! It made everything not-so-serious and that worked brilliantly.

Miss May and Chelsea make a great duo: one bold and daring, like a bull in a china shop, the other prone to frenzy and skittish, like a nervous kitten. And that only added to the charm of this wonderful story! Throw in a hot cop and you have your recipe for success!

I cannot recommend this series enough!

Miss May, Teeny and Chelsea are on the hunt for killers in these ten mysteries. Do not mess with an ex D.A. The family is fantastic, with sass and banter enough to cause issues. The quirky relationships and situations show how sometimes things backfire and then again... Loved the storylines and surprises that came along to derail them. In the endings, it all comes together cleanly, with our group still alive and healthy. Very well done.

Delightful quirky characters

These Chelsea Thomas books are as welcome as chocolate-covered apple-cider donuts on a brisk fall day. This set includes my nomination for the best romantic hero in the realm of cozy mysteries: Germany Turtle who values Chelsea as she should be. Alas, he seems to just be a gallant foil for Wayne, the standard handsome sheriff who sometime helps and sometimes hinders the sleuthing of Chelsea, her aunt Miss May, and their friend Teeny (AKA”Extra Sprinkles”) as they investigate murders in Pine Grove, New York. A boxful of tasty treats!

If you like cozy mysteries with cheesy lines these are for you!

I enjoyed the 10 books. They were easy to read, had lots of details, chase scenes and good food. The author repeated many signature lines frequently and the main characters were hard to believe much of the time ( too ditzy, too flexible). Lots of typos and mixing up key details such as the name of the person they were speaking to, or about, which made things difficult to follow at times. But overall they are cute and fun….and fluffy

If you like quirky cozy mysteries, this is the set for you! An apple orchard and small town characters with big personalities are the perfect backdrop for this series. I have read all of these books when they came out separately. Miss May, Chelsea, and Teeny are a great team though Teeny is a bit quirky. Chelsea sometimes makes me shake my head with her relationship decisions. Miss May is the owner of an apple orchard and bakery. How she has pies in her 'handbag' is beyond me. These are fun lighthearted mysteries. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Murder makes me hungry

This Apple Orchard series is super great! However, not sure I would want to live in their beautiful little town where there are so many homicides. The girls are great at solving the crimes and I guess all that brain power really requires food. They are always eating! I would be 500 lbs if I ate that much, mostly yummy carbs. I definitely want to read all the books in the series!!

wow I am so in love with Chelsea and Wayne it's so cute how they flirt with each other and how awkward they are around eachother, the characters are great. I really like this series always on the lookout for more. I really love this series and the characters, I always find the writing and story very good and how every chapter has a title. I'm loving this series and have a separate review for every book. I received this as an ARC and voluntarily choose to reveiw.
