Rate this book
Danny and her crew learn that humans may not be alone in the galaxy.
Thirty years ago, Danny and her crew on the Supreme Lythion were instrumental in the defeat of the sentient array, the crumbling of the Empire and the development of crescent ships.

Now wildcat crescent ships are opening up the known galaxy, finding more worlds to be settled and new resources. When the wildcat ship Ige Ibas goes dark and silent, Dalton comes to Danny for help, because his son, Mace, is on that ship. Despite their history, Danny agrees to try to find Mace.

But the Ige Ibas has gone dark for a reason, and Danny’s investigation rouses the ire of a new enemy, one that emerges from beyond any worlds known to humans…

Galactic Thunder is the first book in the Iron Hammer space opera science fiction series by award-winning SF author Cameron Cooper. The Iron Hammer series is a spin off from the acclaimed Imperial Hammer series, and features many of the characters and situations from that series.

Is Anybody👽 Out There?🚀💫
A son of a friend is lost somewhere in the outer fringes of space💫 with no communication received or sent for days.
Danny and her crew go to the rescue🚀. Who or what is out there? Surprise ending!

I bought this ebook from Amazon📚

I really dislike books written in first person, "I" accounts. Loss of a star⭐.

This was the Nook serial read for March 2023. I really should read more sci-fi books as I always enjoy them when I do. This was an interesting story that definitely kept me guessing. If you are like me, you stress about the animals any time they appear in a story. If you want to know what happens to them, click . It's interesting, this is the first book in this series, but I kept feeling like I started in the middle of the story and was catching up. Ah, I just read in the description that this is a spinoff series. I would definitely be interested in reading that initial series to get all that back story.

Space opera, first contact, shoot em up, slavers. Many characters of a harsh nature. Obtained for free from Amazon on October 5, 2022.

Fast moving, exciting read full of action and drama. This book unravels like a mystery, slowly unraveling as Danny steps in to help an old friend, only to have the situation grow stranger and more dangerous as time progresses. Some really good twists and excellent pacing in this one that will keep you turning pages until the end.

This is not a one premise tale drawn out to novel length. Cooper has taken a familiar trope in sci-fi - new tech allowing for rapid expansion and first encounters of the 4th, 5th and/or 6th kind and built it into a rich complex space opera. This one is rife with conflict and fall out from the Imperial Hammer series. And more parawolves!

This is the first book in a new series that is a spin off of Imperial Hammer series. Cooper does an excellent job of world building and reintroducing familiar characters in a way that makes this book fully enjoyable to readers both new to the series and familiar with Danny's adventures with the Array. It jumps forward in time to a completely new conflict. This is the beginning of a series, so while it contains a full story arc (there isn't a cliff hanger) it is also building a larger arc and that last line is a dozy! Can't wait to see where the series will head next.

Not that a missing ship would bring attention, but if it was being watched like the Ige Ibas was by Dalton, the father of Mace, who was on that ship, then the alarm would be raised. But now that the array had been defeated and only independent worlds were left behind, there was no central authority, so who should he raise the alarm to? He had to take action somehow, and he just knew how because he knew Danny, who captained the Supreme Lythion that was key in defeating the empire and the sentient array.

Ok, now I came to this story without the knowledge of the previous series, so I am missing what I think was a great story because I think this was a great story and a great series starter. I like the twist at the end very much. I guessed a bit of it but was presently surprised by the reveal. Good character depth, but then you had a previous series to draw upon, which fits right into this new story.

Now I need to read the rest of this series and the previous one, Imperial Hammer. If you like Space Operas, Action & Adventure, or the unknown, I think you’ll like this book. I give this read five stars out of five stars.

Thought Provoking and Fabulous!!

First book in a spin-off series. Many of the characters we know and love. My favorite parawolf Varg had a litter, each who have bonded with many of the main characters. I’m so very pleased!

The premise is divine; we are not alone in the universe. But they are not invaders per-se. We “barely” know they exist. We cannot “find” them. We do not know what they want. Can we assume the ones who have made contact are representative of all of them? Are they rogue pirates displaying the “worst” of their species?

There is action – but there are more thought-provoking puzzles.

The smartest in the galaxy must work together to save lives and solve this mystery.

A fully satisfying story – yet there are more mysteries to solve in more from this series. Thought-provoking and fabulous!!

Galactic Thunder is a 5 star WINNER!  I absolutely loved every page.  Danny is full of vim and vinegar, the plot is tight (amazing how you made me feel caught up after almost 30 years!), the main characters are still themselves but older (with only time-wrought changes), I love the parawolf siblings, and the ending? Yes!! I can hardly wait to read the rest of the series!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader copy of this book. If you haven’t read the first series, you can still start here with no problem. However, after reading this book you will probably WANT to go back and enjoy what happened before.

Galactic Thunder: Iron Hammer book one by Cameron Cooper. A spinoff or continuation of the awesome Imperial Hammer series Danny and her crew of the Supreme Lythion are taking on new threats in the galaxy. Get a taste of what that threat is in book one. Great story with high tech as Cameron’s usually are. I did have a bit of trouble connecting all the many characters from previous storylines as Cameron only touches on what’s occurred in previous adventures introducing them back into the story. I recommend reading The Imperial Hammer and then this series, in chronological order, to help keep up with who’s who.

This is the first book by this author I've read and I was impressed. I loved the characters - although I'm wondering if there were other books with these characters in. It seemed to me as if there may have been even though this is advertised as book one - I'm thinking this may be a spin-off from another series.
No matter, I loved the characters, the story line and the way the whole book was put together. I felt a bond with the characters, so that to me is the author spends time creating the characters, environment, etc. I'll definitely look for more.

I don't read a lot of science fiction, but when I do, I often enjoy it more than expected. This was a fairly fast-paced book, but there were a lot of characters and this almost read like a book in the middle of a series. I had a hard time keeping up with "who's who" and their relationship with each other.

All in all, it was an enjoyable read and I would definitely consider reading more by this author and more in the series (since it ended with a bit of a cliffhanger. I would like to know more about the beings encountered and how they became what they appear to be.

This was the serial read from Barnes & Noble for this month. I started on the first but had to stop reading after a few days. Luckily I had time on my hands on the 22nd so I started it over and was able to finish it before the month ended. It was a well written Science Fiction about missing Earthlings and space creatures that looked human but were blue in color. Teams were formed to get one of the Earthlings that was missing. Highly recommended.

Help me read more books

I didn't read the series before this one, but this book stands alone well enough. I really liked this one, though there was one point where one of the characters was analyzing the aliens, and said things that weren't the least bit true, but I chalk that up to bad proofreading. Otherwise, I found the story to be a good one, and I will certainly read more in the series when I can.

Love the characters and the tech

This was a fun book with interesting characters and fun technology too. Lots of action, some adventure, good dialogue and locations for all the fun to occur. The best part was the surprise identity of the main baddies. This looks like it will be a fun series. I enjoyed this book and recommend it.

Decent writing

Unlike a great deal of new writers I've seen over the last few years that have been rather superficial there is actually character and plot development. It doesn't just bounce from action scene to action scene.

This is the first self-pub that I have finished in years. The plot is polished and interesting enough to justify getting to the end.

While I wouldn't be willing to pay for the sequel, I may end up reading it on scribd since it is included in the subscription.

Excellent Writing

Good character development which builds on previous books, but remains independent of them. Meaning you don't have to read the others to enjoy this as a standalone book. Everything is reviewed without burdening the story. Excellent Writing.

This is the first book in the spin off of the Imperial Hammer. This is a fast paced, action packed space opera. This is well written with a fantastic, entertaining storyline with great twists.

Humans have finally come into contact with aliens. People have been populating planets for many years but they've never found intelligent aliens.

The aliens are what they expected.

Good twist

Compulsive reading with gripping action and awesome characters!
A diverse and complex world of new spaceships and space exploration has opened up and Danny is back with another unintentional adventure.

Surprises and unusual events kept me hanging in delicious suspense during this space opera novel set with some beloved characters from the Imperial Hammer series and some new-found favourites.

I thoroughly enjoyed the linked events and explanations of character relationships that have changed since the end of the Imperial Hammer series as we catch up with Danny and the new world that opened up after the last series.

Cam Cooper has delivered an exciting start to this new series with plenty of action and a self contained storyline, but of course there's always so much more I want to know about the changing world and situation Danny finds herself in and that's why I dive into the next book...!

I highly recommend this book and to enrich your experience with the characters I would definitely read the Imperial Hammer series first.

My oh my!! Fabulous and fantastic!! What an action packed story!! I was sucked into the vacuum of space where I nerve wrackingly adventured right along with Danny and her crew.

As always I am super impressed with the space technology, that I can understand. The plot is rich in texture and colour and completely unpredictable! I could not put the book down once I started. I HAD TO KNOW what happens next.

The rug was plucked out from under me, because what I was led to expect, was not where the plot went! I just loved the end!! Such a juicy tease! I cannot wait to see what happens in the next book in the Iron Hammer series.

This book is an exceptionally pleasurable way to escape the mundane reality of life!!
Well done Cam on a superb book in this spin off series!!

Galactic Thunder is Cameron Cooper’s first book in the amazing, new, science fiction series, Iron Hammer. And what an amazing start this is!
Cameron somehow provides such vivid descriptions that the scenes are both realistic and satisfying. I actually feel like I am present as the characters interact both conversationally and in action scenes.
This time it is humans vs ? (No way I’m going to spoil the surprise). A new antagonist will appear in this series and wow! What will humans face now?
This story is an amazing start to this new science fiction series and reminds me of why I fell in love with this genre to begin with. And BEST last line ever!
Thank you Cameron!
