Merel Pierce was born and raised in the Midwest, USA. Ever the country girl, her hobbies have evolved to include nature photography, animal care, and exploring the great outdoors.
She is a crafter/art hobbiest, who spends her time writing, working on art projects, and keeping her two rescue dogs; a Schipperke mix and a Jack Russel, out of trouble.
She has always been drawn to the duality of life, learning early on to appreciate both the light and the dark of what the world has to offer. She believes there is beauty and meaning to be found in both the struggles and joys life brings and strives to share that with her writing.
Merel most enjoys writing dark, complex tales with raw, realistic characters. Her stories may not always close with a happy ending, but she will always make you feel something by the time it's done. Whether that feeling is horror or happiness, you'll have to wait and see...
Please, Alpha is a super hot follow up to Yes, Alpha, with a chemistry so scorching my fingers were in danger of being singed as I turned the pages.
The story picks up several weeks on from where Book #1 left us. I felt that we really get to know Meghan and Daniel in this "episode", and what a delightful pair they are. Daniel is very different from the typical omegaverse Alpha, whilst still maintaining all of the power, authority and downright delicious dominance of the dynamic. His gentle patience with the very vulnerable, and at times closed off, Meghan was beautifully portrayed. He knew just when to push, when to hold and when to purr. Meghan grew in both confidence and her ability to submit and follow Daniel's lead, and this was totally down to how he nurtured their relationship.
I could feel the characters emotions, and was totally drawn in by their connection. So I was desperately hoping that foreshadowing would be wrong, but oh Ms Pierce what a cruel woman you are. Unlike the first book, this ends on a heart breaking cliff-hanger and now I desperately need to know what happens next!
This is the second in Ms. Pierce's Omegaverse series set in our contemporary world (well, our contemporary BDSM world). It isn't a standalone: Meghan and Daniel first meet in Yes, Alpha and, since this ends in a cliffhanger, I assume they'll be one more book (not sure if the release date has been announced).
As with the previous entry, I find this hard to rate, though for slightly different reasons. On the one hand, Daniel and Meghan are very likeable characters; his concern and care for his newbie sub/Omega are exquisite; the kink scenes are inventive and well-described; and the writing flows well with minimal errors. If you like Omegaverse literature, but find some of it too harsh, you will enjoy this.
On the other, the novella format means that three aspects are underdeveloped. First, the story skips over Meghan's adjustment to BDSM (I wish, actually, that this had been in the first book, which had few kink scenes). Second, Daniel and Meghan don't have much character depth -- which would be fine if Daniel didn't keep telling himself (and, by extension, us) how special she was. Thus far, I haven't seen evidence of that. Finally, perhaps because there is no conflict between the MC, the author employs one that involves a huge tonal shift from all that has gone before.
Note: I really, really appreciated Daniel's critique of this: "But anything to do with a female’s cycle had been stigmatized for so long that it was hard for any woman to accept that it wasn’t a turn-off to see evidence of it." Thank you, Ms. Pierce, for pointing out what is known as "period-shaming."
3 1/2 stars which I'm raising to 4 for what I say in my note. I do recommend this, and I look forward to reading the next.
This book was like a delicious warm and gooey brownie a la mode, and I devoured every chapter! Yes, Alpha is book two in this series. We find Daniel and Meghan making way in their Dom/sub relationship. I don't read a lot of BDSM and I have never seen it in an Omegaverse but the way this was written was supurbly intriguing to me. Are you looking for a way to dip your toe into Omegaverse? Looking for a story where the Alpha's are a little more nurturing yet true to their type in all the growly ways ? Then this story is for you. Ms. Pierce does leave us on a major cliff but that just makes it all the more fun in my opinion. I highly, highly recommend this book and series.
I love-love-love Daniel and Meghan. This is a wonderfully different spin on Omegaverse. The setting is contemporary. Most of it takes place in a kink club. But there are no auctions or whippings here. There are floggings and ticklings and laughter. It’s adorable, sexy, and so sweet. And then that ending. OMG, no!! I need to know what happens next! Highly recommended for all the feels!
So, so good. It seemed like forever before this came out and now the wait begins again. Such a great installment with them getting closer and she is really starting to trust him. Can't wait for the next one.
Omg! My heart! My heart is beating so hard in my chest right now. I have loved Daniel from the very first moment I met him. This alpha is everything. I mean wow. I loved this story so much and watching these two get to know each other and develop this trust and understanding was amazing.
The thoughtfulness and respect of the sheets? OMG! NEVER have I seen that done. Who thinks of that? Merel did! The omegaverse queen. Wow, that got my heart right there.
Daniel is the perfect man, alpha, dom and he is gonna burn the world down for his omega. Hands down the best alpha dom I've ever seen! I mean the way he explains everything to her and his level of control is off the charts. He is so aware of her body and her feelings. Ugh, it's just magical. Merel just writes these incredible characters and makes you fall in love with them. I devoured book one, I consumed book two, and now I long for book three. This is everything we love in omegaverse stories and so much more.
Omg this is good! It takes the omegaverse trope and gives it so much consent. Normally I like the dubcon aspects of omegaverse but the very real bdsm behavior in this book with tons of consent and a realistic look at what a Dom/sub relationship should be is just amazing! You still get knots and slick like in any other omegaverse which is awesome, but you also get a lot of sweetness and comfort! Merel Pierce is fantastic and I can't recommend this series enough. My only complaint is that I wish they were longer so I could read more! I was given an ARC copy of this book and am freely reviewing it.
I got this book and started reading it not realizing that it was #2 in the series about the same couple. What I find amazing about this is that I didn't realize it till after I had finished reading it. This book didn't leave me confused about what was going on in the story even though I hadn't read the first book. It was a complete story within itself. I absolutely love that fact about this story! That being said I am now going to go get the first book and read that one so that I am caught up on it! LOL.
Meghan is a bit of a brat and is so darn loveable and cute. Having been hurt before she is afraid to trust what she has with Daniel and struggles to keep her feelings for Daniel from growing. Wanting to keep things between them on the D/S level.
Daniel is not your typical Alpha and I kind of love that about him. He is so sweet with Meghan and cares for her so much. You can almost feel how much he aches for her to trust him and let him into her life more then she currently does.
The only criticism I have for this book is that.... that was one hell of a cliff hanger! OMG! I need the next book now! I need to know what happens! I can only hope that the next story comes quickly so that I can get my answers!
This is the second book in the series and it did not disappoint! It continues where it left off with Alpha Dom Daniel and Omega Megan who has agreed to be Daniel’s submissive. Daniel is the most amazing Alpha ever! So caring, respectful, so determined to take introducing her into the world of BDSM slowly. Their relationship progresses slowly until Megan has to tell Daniel her heat is approaching quickly and though she’s committed to keeping emotions out of their relationship like they agreed and she will spend her heat alone, she wants to have some special time with Daniel to help keep her mind occupied during her heat. Meanwhile the Alpha Daniel originally saved her from continues to loom in the background. Love reading how they’re progressing, how patient Daniel is. Ms Pierce leave us with an angsty cliff hanger. Can’t wait for the next book!
I rec’d this book as an arc and am giving my honest opinion.
This serial installment was enjoyable and well written. The characterization was excellent, the kink scenes were hot, and the development of the romantic relationship was lovely and romantic. The addition of some danger to the plot kept m turning the pages quickly. The only drawback, and it was a large one, was that it had been long enough since the release of the first installment before the release of the second that I had totally forgotten all the plot of the first installment by the time I read the second part. If there is a similar gap in release dates for the third part, I might forget the plot of the second installment entirely and be very confused trying to read the third one.
OMG...this second book was so HOT. It was all about pleasures, about learning to trust and opening to the many possibilities our Omega can have if she only let herself go. Every encounter was intense; the author really brought me into each moment with the Omega and Alpha. But that ending, I mean, I expected something to happen but I still wasn't prepared for it! Total left on edge! I am really looking forward to the next book, to see if our Alpha is in time.
This was another cute and sexy book - with a more consensual Alpha/Omega relationship which I prefer because it reads more like romance for me. So yay there…
HOWEVER - this book ends on a cliffhanger which I was not happy about - it kind of annoyed me, which given the short length of the book is a shame. 😒😒
I also recommend reading book 1 again because this book picks up quite soon after so I was a little lost in the beginning.
As a result I am going with 3 stars - I enjoyed it and it could have been 4 stars if perhaps I had read book 1 again.
I was going to ding this for the cliffhanger but I am feeling good today - so 🤷♀️
Well, the alpha is still respectful, but the omega got on my nerves a bit. She's irritated too often for my taste, to the point where I wonder how the alpha can find her attractive. She snap, grumble ... this is not sexy, or appealing. The alpha is very patient with her. I decided to read Sacred Omega by the same author to see how she develops an omegaverse in 400 pages instead of 70. Omegaverse are not my favorite romance, I prefer BDSM.
One of the best Omegaverse series I've ever read. I usually like my romance on the darker side, but coupling it with consensual BDSM was enough. I loved the respectful depiction of the kink community mixed with the fantasy world of the Omegaverse. Of course we needed a villain, and we got one in spades. Now off goes our Hero Alpha to save our little Omega, and off I go to the the next in series.
Daniel leads her carefully into their D/s relationship. Everything is going very well. He will be her first Alpha. Something is amiss after Meghan goes home after their encounter. Knowing something is wrong when he can't get a hold of Meghan. He goes to investigate and find she was taken. He knows who did it. TBC
This book was sooooo much more than I expected. It features clear consent, praise kink, limits, and aftercare — wow! This totally blew me away. This book is short but it’s super steamy and very well written!
Personal note: I can’t believe this is the first review I’m going to write after making friends on goodreads for the first time. 🤦🏻♀️ I warned you! lol
I’m wailing! That cliff hanger left me hanging on by the slip of my fingers. I need more! I need to know what’s going to happen! Yes Alpha was so awesome and Please alpha was a great read!
A wonderful drool worthy follow up to "Yes, Alpha", Merel Pierce has perfectly blended omegaverse with the world of BDSM. I am always in for a treat with her stories, and "Please, Alpha" does not disappoint!
so i read this despite not really enjoying the first book just because it ended on a cliffhanger... but maybe i shouldn't have because i didn't like it but just finished it for the sake of it (and because it's a short read).
