L.J. Carter’s move back to Julep, Mississippi has been much more complicated than she ever imagined. She discovers that her momma’s death was actually a murder, and Momma’s ghost is still hanging around to talk about it. The Deputy Sheriff tried to kill her, various dead people keep showing up unannounced at her house, and the hunky shrimper, Vandergast, turns out he’s not exactly who she thought he was. But the good news is that the salon is busier than ever, now that Kyle is there to keep everyone on their toes. And there is a bakery right down the street from the salon – so things could be worse. But not much worse.

Reid is from Northwest Illinois, near the town of Freeport, the home of her fictional characters. Her background is in marketing and public relations. She is married, the mother of seven children, and the grandmother of twenty-three. She has her grandchildren convinced that she talks to fairies and animals - and they talk back.
Terri Reid has done it again. This is book 2 in a series, so best to read Blowout first. Louella Jo is a terrific character, she has returned home from New York to Julep, Mississippi for her mother’s funeral. Her good friend and associate, Kyle, has come down to help her get the salon she has inherited from momma going. I Love All these new characters, Bea and the Coven, her nephew Van, he is very handsome and quite charming. (Don’t think Louella Jo hasn’t noticed) Collectively they are trying to solve her momma’s murder and Joellen’s murder.
Although I liked book one, I liked this one even more. Be sure to read the first book before you read this one. The story is developing into an all-encompassing one and I'm looking forward to the next one.
What a perfect name for this book! l.J is being sought after by ghosts, Crazies, Crazie's daddies and last but not least a rather handsome young man! After her Mother's death L.J. came back from NYC to do all the things you need to do. Her best friend Kyle came back with her. The death of a young Woman and that same young woman's ghost showing herself to L.J. start the investigation. L.J.'s Mama may be dead, she's still hovering around her daughters life.
I enjoy this author a lot. Always a good read I just broke my own rule by reading a series back to back because the cliff hanger at the end of book one was too much. This book has a great plot. Great writing and makes you cry smile and laugh aloud Do yourself a favor and pick the series up and read them. Number three will be read a bit later
While it was not quite as good as the first book (in my opinion) it was still very good. The characters are easy to relate to, even if you cannot actually relate to their circumstances. Even without the ghosts, most readers can relate to situation that we feel REQUIRE us to do something. That is where LJ, Van, Kyle, Be a and Mamma are. Hard choices make for an interesting story. Hope you enjoy it as much acai did. And, yes, I have already purchased book 3.
Another enjoyable read by Terri Reid. The story did not seem to progress much from beginning to end. Nothing really was solved and it just ended, like the first book leaving you waiting for the next book in the series. I read all of her Mary O’Reilly series and even though there was a next book in the series, the current book’s mystery was solved. .
So book two is definitely more exciting than part 1. There's so much suspense and just when you thought you figured it out, here comes a curve ball to strike out your theory on who you figured was a bad guy! On to book3
Love reading this series so far. I love the characters who make me laugh more often than not...takes me back to my own southern upbringing. I highly recommend this series.
I really loved this book and can't wait till book three comes out, between this series and the Mary O'Reilly series, I don't know which one I like better.
I just love Terri Reid's writing style. She has such a gift with characters, I feel like they are my friends and I know them well.
This book made everything I thought I knew so far go out the window. I am not sure which was is up and which way is down anymore. Bad guys might be good guys and vice versa.
