The girl looked so peaceful, she could have been asleep. Except her eyes were open, blankly reflecting the flickering flames spreading towards her…

When firefighters discover the body of a teenage girl at an abandoned house, Detective Amanda Steele hurries to the scene. Dumfries, Virginia is a small town, yet no one seems to have any idea who the dead girl is until Amanda finds a dragonfly pin with the name Crystal engraved on it.

Working tirelessly, Amanda traces the pin to Crystal Foster, a thirteen-year-old who disappeared three years ago from her wealthy parents’ home. Breaking the news to the distraught parents won’t be easy, but the loss of her own daughter still haunts Amanda, and she knows this will bring them closure. But when Amanda goes to see the Fosters, they do not recognize the girl. She isn’t Crystal.

Before Amanda can react to this new development, she gets an urgent call. A fire has consumed another vacant house, and the remains of two more girls have been found. Who are these girls, and why are they being picked off? Amanda must stop this killer before the pattern continues, and the death toll climbs.

When Amanda receives a taunting note from the killer, she realizes that she holds the missing piece of this puzzle. The victims are connected to Amanda’s past, to a case she can never forget, and which almost claimed her life. As she follows the clues to their deadly conclusion, can she save more innocent lives… even if it risks her own?

An unputdownable, pulse-pounding mystery. Fans of Rachel Caine, Lisa Regan and Robert Dugoni will be gripped.

Stolen Daughters is the second instalment in the Detective Amanda Steele series, set in the small town of Dumfries, Virginia. It's Thursday, April 1st and Amanda is currently in Washington DC visiting her mother, Julie Steele, as they attend an appointment with Hannah Byrd, her mother's lawyer regarding a murder charge over an incident that occurred in the first book, to plan their defence strategy. But her boss, Sergeant Malone calls to inform her they have a case and that she's needed back in Dumfries stat. 35-year-old Amanda is currently a detective with Prince William County PD Homicide Unit stationed out of Central District Station in Woodbridge—a small town about ten minutes from Dumfries. Heading to the address she had been given - 532 Bill Drive, a long-abandoned building often frequented by squatters, they later find that the property was repossessed last August by Woodbridge Bank. Amanda and partner Trent Stenson come upon a cordon and a mess of emergency vehicles. The two-story century-old clapboard home seemed to be pretty much intact. Even the victim seemed untouched by the fire, but there was no doubt in Fire Marshal Craig Sullivan’s mind that this was arson. The petechiae in the victim’s eyes and around her gums indicated she had been deprived of oxygen; she had died before the fire had been set and had bruises around her neck where she had been strangled to death and left atop of a dirty mattress. On the collar of her jean jacket was a dragonfly pin with iridescent wings of teals and purples engraved with the words: "To our dear Crystal". The pin is later traced to Crystal Foster, a 13-year-old who vanished 3 years ago from the home of her affluent parents. However, when the pair visit them to break the bad news they recognise the brooch but not the girl. It isn't their daughter.

The killer likely set the place alight to destroy evidence of the girl’s identity but thanks to early-rising neighbour Shannon Fox, a nurse at the local medical centre, who noticed the blaze at 5:50 am and called 911. Trent and Amanda begin their investigation and their search for The young woman’s identity; the only clue they really have to go on is the unique dragonfly brooch. The killer who calls himself 'The Merciful' was infuriated to find out that Fox had been the one to thwart his plans to burn the place to the ground and ends up murdering her out of rage. It doesn't take long before another house, this time in a higher-end neighbourhood, is set on fire and the bodies of two other young girls are discovered in the rubble of 816 Clear Mountain Circle. It was also vacant and had been on the market for around 2 months; strangely it was also owned by Woodbridge Bank. But Amanda’s personal and professional lives soon collide when she receives a taunting note from who they now believe to be a serial killer. What makes this even more disturbing is that it's left for her to discover at Eagle Cemetery where her late husband and daughter, Kevin and Lindsey’s graves are situated. It reads: “We’re on the same team. Be grateful that your angel will always stay innocent.” Can Amanda get to the bottom of who is murdering these innocent youngsters and why? This is a compulsive and enthralling procedural with everything required for a riveting read. There's intense drama, wicked twists, well placed red herrings, a disturbed serial killer, multiple exciting races against time, great characterisation and a compelling mix of murderous main plot and protagonist Amanda’s complex private life. Together it all makes for a pulse-pounding, absorbing and thoroughly entertaining read. Highly recommended.

Detective Amanda Steele are her partner are called to the site of a house fire. The house had been abandoned several months earlier, so who was the female victim found inside doused with gasoline?

Working relentlessly trying to identify the victim, she's mortified to learn that another two female victims were found inside another abandoned house, which has burnt to the ground.

The only identifying mark the medical examiner has found is a tattoo on one of the victims, It's a mark that Amanda knows only too well. The victims are connected to Amanda’s past, to a case she can never forget, and which almost claimed her life.

The intricate plot swirls around multi-layered characters. It's well written with suspense and angst that starts on the very first page and doesn't waver until the very explosive conclusion. Second in the series, it is easily read as a stand alone, but I highly recommend reading the books in order.

Many thanks to the author / Bookouture / Netgalley for the police procedural/crime fiction. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.I had high expectations for Stolen Daughter, and it did not disappoint. The story began on a chilling note, and so with a start like that I needed more.

While attending to a personal mission, Detective Amanda Steele received a call from her sergeant about a crime scene. On arriving at the scene, she learnt of the discovery of an unidentified teenage girl in a burnt out abandoned building. In the course of  investigating the murder, Amanda and her partner Trent uncovered a link between the murdered teen and a sex trafficking ring.  Amanda sets out to put an end to the trafficking ring and apprehend the person responsible for the murder. However, the discovery of  more bodies and the evidence pointing to the same perpetrator, placed Amanda in a race against time to stop the killer from striking again.

What a ride. Excitement, danger, suspense and intrigue permeated the pages of the story, making it difficult to put down. Amanda’s penchant for taking risks along with the POV of the killer added to the danger, suspense and intrigue. Being in the killer's head proved a terrifying experience. Because he feels justified by his actions he dubbed himself The Merciful. The revelation of his past provided insight into the reasoning behind his actions, not that one could agree with them.

Amanda seems to have detoured from the path of destruction highlighted in the previous book, The Little Grave. The events from book one provided the catalyst for the change. It made me happy to see she how much she had grown. Not everyone she works with is in her corner. I curious to know the reasons for the animosity, which has yet to be revealed.

Although the plotline relating to the murder mystery was resolved, the story ended on a note which had me eager for the next book. Once again Arnold has created a story that fans of police procedurals would not want to miss. This review was originally posted on Totally Addicted to Reading

Another well written mystery/crime fiction, I really do like the cases/mysteries in this series BUT I really don't like Amanda the lead character. I found her to be really bitchy even mean at times, it's really hard to get through a book when you hate the main character, regardless of how good everything else in the book is.

Stolen daughters is the second book in the Amanda Steele series. I really enjoyed the first in the series The Little Grave so recommend starting with book 1.

This case starts with a fire and the discovery of a dead girl. When Amanda is called to the case she has a feeling there is more to the story. Then the killer reaches out to her by letter letting her know they are the same ridding the world of evil. But Amanda knows something rhe killer doesn't these girls aren't quite what he thinks they are.

I found this case to be really interesting. As we heard from the killer throughout the book and his rationale for his actions it was interesting to see how it all fit together. In all honesty I had no idea who the killer was until it was revealed and I quite like that with a crime book. .

Amanda seemed less emotional in this book than the last one. She clearly is still grieving but she is more focused on her work than breaking down. It was nice to read the subtle changes in her character. She still isn't the strongest of lead protagonist but she's growing on me..

I really enjoyed how they managed to link this case to issues in the previous book. It made it feel like a series rather than stand alone and that is why I recommend you read the first book as it will make more sense. The writing skills as great as expected very well detailed but not over the top with description.
Plus I found yne nature of the investigation was actually more focused on the investigation this time instead of Amanda's personal life.

I must say even though the crimes are quite heinous there is still some lightness in the story. There were a few moments I had to stop reading because I was laughing so much.

All in all this is a good book. It's worth a read and if youve read the first you will know the writing style is good. Also note that the author doesn't drop huge hints of who the killer is so er go through exactly the same process as the detectives.
Would I recommend this book?
Yes it's an easy read and quite an interesting case it can feel a bit emotive at times eo have the tissues at the ready. But it's a great crime book looking forward to book 3. Rating stolen daughters 4 stars

This second book in the Detective Amanda Steele series ties to the first book when Amanda is called to a house where a young woman is found dead in a fire. She was killed before the fire was lit, and her body was not burned. Amanda immediately recognized the tattoo she had that tied to the human trafficking ring that she exposed in the last book. As more bodies of young women are discovered, murdered and the places they are left set on fire, Amanda and Trent realize they are hunting down a serial killer. Can they catch him before more young girls are dead?

Once again, Amanda and Trent continue to work together as a great team. In this book, we get the perspective of the killer which gives it a bit of a creepy feel. We don't know who he is, and I was kept guessing. I was pulled into the investigation and loved the steps they took and how they put the pieces together. It was interesting to see how events in a person's past can colour their outlook and behaviour in the future. Another gripping story from Carolyn Arnold. I do recommend this series.

Great partnership developing here between Amanda and Trent. I’ve read this in two days, enjoyed it very much. Fast pacing enough to keep you thinking. There’s something personal going on with the lieutenant and Amanda which I think will come out in time, interesting politics. Friendships are being developed, even if from dealing with the scum of the earth. Intertwined with family issues and Amanda’s love life this is a really interesting and compelling read.

Carolyn Arnold continues her new series with Stolen Daughters featuring Detective Amanda Steele.

Amanda, a homicide detective with the Prince William County Police Department, is living in the small community of Dumfries, Virginia, struggling to move on from the deaths of her husband, Kevin and daughter, Lindsey five years ago. Amanda is in Washington DC visiting her mum when she receives a call from Sergeant Malone informing her to get to 532 Bill Drive, an abandoned property, as soon as she can. The building had been ablaze and firefighters had put out the flames but discovered the body of a teenage girl. The victim appears to be untouched by the inferno, but Fire Marshal Craig Sullivan believes it was arson. The victim was strangled to death before the fire was started but nobody can supply any information regarding her identity until Amanda spots a gold, purple and teal, iridescent dragonfly pin on her jacket with the name "Crystal" inscribed on it. The pretty brooch is traced to Crystal Foster, a 13-year-old who vanished from the home of her affluent parents, however, when Amanda visits the Fosters they recognise the brooch but not the girl. It isn't their daughter. Before long, another house in a higher-end neighbourhood is set on fire and the bodies of two other young girls are discovered in the wreckage. Now Amanda believes they are looking for a serial killer, especially when she receives a personal taunting note.

With its excellent plot and comfortable pacing, I had difficulty putting this book down between chapters. Stolen Daughters was such a compelling read, and I relished every moment. Detective Amanda Steele is really well-drawn - a determined, passionate though sometimes a reckless woman who had an inclination to be acerbic with her colleagues.

This riveting, dark tale was very weighty and Carolyn Arnold brilliantly builds the suspense, putting me right on the edge of my seat. I really liked the periodic change in viewpoint as it brought with it an edgier story and allowed the reader to learn more about the killer, their motives, and feelings. Heavy on intense drama, along with several twists and enough mystery and intrigue to compel me to read late into the night, this was an absolutely cracking piece of crime fiction, superbly delivered. I'm keen to devour book 3, The Silent Witness.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel from Bookouture via NetGalley at my request and this review is my own unbiased opinion.

I loved this book. It’s the second in the series and builds on the first book in regards to Amanda’s personal life.
The book begins with a body being found in a building that was on fire. As they caught the fire in time, the body of a teenage girl is not destroyed so they have a chance to identify her.
Amanda and Trent start their investigations and then Amanda finds a note left on her daughter’s grave for her, from the killer.
This doesn’t help them identify him but the murder shortly after of a woman who called the fire service out, makes Amanda think they have a serial killer on their hands.
More information comes to light after two more teenagers are found dead and this leads Amanda and Trent closer to the killer.
I loved the way the book ended and can’t wait to find out what happens next.
This is a fast paced crime thriller that I really enjoyed.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

WOW! I was expecting a great read when I opened Stolen Daughters by Carolyn Arnold, but I got more than I expected. I find that amazing, because I have been reading her work for some time now and loving it, so for her to write a novel that has me saying to myself (and you), “WOW, this is the perfect story for me.”, it hits all the spots.

Amanda Steele reminds me of Clarisse on the new TV show. I guess that shows how I feel about Carolyn Arnold’s work. It is suitable for the visual media, whether on TV or the movies. Who knows?

The romance is there, but not, and that is fine with me, because I was so involved with the characters I was reading about, I never really missed Logan. He did drop in for a minute or two here and there, just enough to let us know he is waiting….

I love that Amanda doesn’t jump into a relationship with Logan too quickly. I kinda like the one they have right now, taking their time to let it develop naturally, if that is possible in the world they live in. Danger is all around, and they never know when it will find them.

Carolyn Arnold does police procedurals proud. She gives the investigative details in a clear, concise manner, not slowing down the story in any way.

We have a lot of things going on in Stolen Daughters. Logan is trying to hook up with Amanda, but she is too busy trying to help her mother, find out who killed the girl in the fire and deal with her own personal issues.

I love when I can have empathy for the villain, but that does not excuse his actions. He knows right from wrong, he just loves doing wrong. The past is the past and I feel no one can use that for an excuse for their behavior, and when I remember his victims, well…you’ll have to read the book and then I think you may know what I feel.

I love when a fictional novel can draw me so far into it that I, at times, forget I am reading fiction. I had a bunch of notes, but after rereading the blurb, I had to wing it. I didn’t want to give anything away. I want you to experience it for yourself. It is well worth it.

I ignored everything going on around me and stayed up late to finish Stolen Daughters, so to say it was unputdownable is not doing it justice. When IT hits the road, Amanda Steele puts the pedal to the metal, no looking back and no second guessing.

I voluntarily reviewed and ARC of Stolen Daughters by Carolyn Arnold.

So this is my first Carolyn Arnold book but the second in the Amanda Steele series, but it's easily read as a standalone. I would probably recommend going back to the first and starting there, just to get a bit more history of the characters.

The story opens with a young woman being found dead in an abandoned house after a fire was started deliberately. She's got no ID and they do not know who the young girl is. Amanda Steele is assigned to the case with her partner Trent. Dealing with the aftermath of her last case, she has a higher up officer gunning for her badge. As the body count rises, the case takes a personal turn. Can Amanda deal with it all and solve the case?

Stolen Daughters is an American police procedural that leans more towards the procedural aspects with a bit of psychology thrown in there for good measure.

I usually read British police procedurals, but it made a nice change to read one set in a small town in America. I enjoyed seeing the differences and similarities between policing methods, although one thing they certainly have in common is all police officers seem to run on caffeine and junk food!

I do so love to get inside the mind of a killer, and it intrigued me to see little peeks into this killer's twisted mind throughout the book.

I struggled a bit to warm up to Amanda at first. She's a good cop but seems to rub a lot of people up the wrong way. She was also a bit standoffish, refusing to cross the boundaries between professional and perhaps friendship with her partner Trent. In future books I'd love to see a bit more of Trent, I feel there's a lot of potential with his character.

I felt the pace was a little slow to start off with but it builds nicely to an action paced ending that leaves it open for the next in the series.

Stolen Daughters is a realistic and gritty read with an ending that leaves you wanting more.

Thanks NetGalley, Bookouture and Carolyn Arnold for an ARC to review.
Second installment in Detective Amanda Steele series and I already can't wait the next one's release. I couldn't get enough of Amanda and all the other plot lines, her mother's case, Logan, her career and lots more.
A fast paced intense thriller poking into the world of sex trafficking and its horrors, how does its poisonous effect reaches outside the immediate victims.
The book also raises a red flag about bad parenting and the catastrophic consequences as well as social media dangers regarding minors.
I am looking up Brandon's series, can't wait to dig in.

This is an enthralling, gripping police procedural and crime thriller, a great addition to the series but also a story that can be read as a standalone.

Homicide Detective Amanda Steele is called to the scene of a house fire in which the body of an unidentified teenage girl has been discovered. As she works with her partner, Trent, they discover she’s been branded in the same way victims of a known child trafficking ring. Could this help bring the ring to justice? With more girls found in burnt properties, it is a race against time to discover the serial killer and bring them to justice. However, this is another case where Amanda’s past is key to uncovering the truth but it is also a race against time as she and others she cares for are also in deadly danger . . . .

This story deals with the crime unsavoury human trafficking, sharing an insight into the investigations into this atrocity, its victims, perpetrators and some of its consequences. It is an emotional read because of the nature of the crimes and everything that Amanda has been through in the past and is going through now. It is a story that has great characters, horrendous events, horrific crimes and an ending that has me keen to read more in the series as soon as possible! If you enjoy murder mysteries with well developed lead characters that it is easy to relate to make sure you check out this book and the others in this series, I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for my copy of this book which I have voluntarily read and honestly reviewed.

Amanda Steele, Homicide detective with the Prince William police department and her partner Trent Stenson are called to the scene of a fire where the body of a murdered teenage girl is found. Tracing the girl through a dragonfly pin to one who has been missing for three years Amanda and her partner determine that the girl is part of a sex trafficking ring. While they continue to investigate another murder takes place and the team is led to believe that they have a serial killer on their hands. When Amanda receives a note from the killer at her daughter's grave she realizes that even though she is dealing with memories of her own tragedies and the fact that her mother is up on murder charges she must follow the clues before he can kill yet again.

Overall I thought this was a decent book. I liked the profiling/psychological aspects but I didn't find it a riveting or unique read. The pace for the first 2/3 of the book were a little slow for me but it picked up for the end. I am sure as the series goes on the characters will develop more therefore making it a more exciting read and the reader will be more invested in the story. I would recommend to crime thriller lovers.

Stolen Daughters by Carolyn Arnold is the 2nd book in the Detective Amanda Steele mystery series, and my first book by this author. Detective Steele is called to the scene of a fire at an abandon house, where a girls body is found. When a women is killed in the same neighborhood as the abandon house, there is talk of a serial killer. I found this book to be fast-paced, and like a roller coaster ride with it's ups and downs. This book has a well developed plot and characters and I will be reading more books by this author. I highly recommend this book to all mystery book lovers, like me.

Great follow up to book 1, but still can be read as a stand alone. Waiting for book 3!. Amanda Steele is working her way into my heart. She was so broken in book 1, I love watching her put herself together stitch by stitch, and then something happens to unravel one or two She digs deep and keeps putting one foot in front of the other. Twists and surprises ensue, how about that one towards the end?? Not with Amanda. Sorry trying for no spoilers :) Speaking of the ending,.... it is a cliff hanger, but a cliff hanger as to Amanda next step. The crime is resolved in itself, and other doors are open for this series to keep on going, and I am in. Thank you for the arc. Thank you Bookouture, NetGalley I freely share my thoughts and opinions.

Detective Amanda Steele returns to investigate when a teenage girl is found murdered in a burning house. When other teenage girls are found in similar circumstances, Steele knows they have a serial killer on their hands. With a very personal note left for Steele, the race is on to solve the case before more girls are found murdered.
The slow start soon picks up, and gravitates towards a gripping, read-in-one-session book.

Stolen Daughters is the EPIC new crime thriller by the amazingly talented Carolyn Arnold, and it is the second book in the Detective Amanda Steele series. You can of course read this book as a stand-alone, but as an avid reader and fan of Arnold I’d highly recommend purchasing book one to share in the knowledge of Detective Amanda Steele and her history.

A teenage girl is found murdered in a burning house and without a name or a suspect, its for Detective Steele and her partner to try and solve the case.

But like all of Arnold’s thrillers what starts out as a case solving one murder soon turns into a web of crime, lies, deception and non-stop action and drama.

I am obsessed with this series! I love playing detective alongside Detective Steele and I try my hardest to try and guess and work out each and every plot twist (often to no avail!). I love to be kept guessing and Arnold certainly keeps you on your toes with her incredibly detailed and highly realistic story.

Everything about this book felt real and it evoked that heart-thumping eager anticipation to get to the bottom of the mystery and find the killer. It was suspenseful, gripping and incredibly well thought out.

I love where these books are headed, and it felt like a nice continuation on from book one. I am interested in not only Detective Steele’s working life, but also her personal one. What will become of her and Logan? Will Trent remain her partner? I have so many questions which have me crying out for the next book.

I’d recommend this book to all those who love nitty gritty crime thrillers, but also those wanting to mix up their reading genres and delve into a really incredible book. It was fast-paced, and a total page-turner. I blitzed this all in one sitting, and I’m confident other readers will feel just as hooked!

When firefighters discover the body of a teenage girl at an abandoned house, Detective Amanda Steele hurries to the scene. Dumfries, Virginia is a small town, no one knowa who the dead girl is until Amanda finds a dragonfly pin with the name Crystal engraved on it. Amanda traces the pin to Crystal Foster, a thirteen-year-old who disappeared three years ago from her wealthy parents’ home. But when Amanda breaks the news to the Fosters, they do not recognize the girl. She isn’t Crystal. Before Amanda can react to this new development, she gets an urgent call. A fire has consumed another vacant house, and the remains of two more girls have been found. Then Amanda receives a taunting note from the killer, she realizes that she holds the missing piece of this puzzle. The victims are connected to Amanda’s past, to a case she can never forget, and which almost claimed her life.
This is the second book in the series & can easily be read on its own but it is also a great follow on from the first. Very well written with strong characters, I love Amanda, & a pace that never lags, in fact the pace gradually increases until I couldn’t read fast enough at times. There are twists & turns along the way until this case is solved but openings are made for the series to continue, which I hope it does & the next book is soon
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

Great 2nd book in the Detective Amanda Steele’s series, Amanda and her partner Trent Stenson are called to investigate the murder of a teenage girl in an abandoned house, next day a neighbour is found murdered, do they have a serial killer on their hands, if so is this the beginning or has it been for a while? – As their investigation moves along they did the find themselves digging back into the human sex trafficking ring that was part of book 1 (you don’t have to have read book 1 to read book 2) – Again book 2 ends with a cliff hanger and you are hoping book 3 will follow soon!
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for an early look at this book for my opinion.

Stolen Daughters, the second novel in the Detective Amanda Steele series, is a good suspense thriller. Amanda and her partner Trent Steele follow the clues from the scene of a fire where the body of a murdered teenager girl is discovered. When other teenagers are found murdered in a burning house, they know they are looking for a serial killer, one who may have set his sights on Amanda. Though I did find it started off slowly, it did pick up quite well. I loved having the characters, good and bad, follow through from the first novel. It added tremendously to the story. I am looking forward to reading the next in the series, especially with the jolting end to this one. All in all, a well-written page turner. I received a copy of this book for an honest review.

This is the first book I have read by this author. It is also the second book in the 'Detective Amanda Steele' series although it can be read as a standalone.

I was originally drawn to this book by its beautiful eye catching and intriguing cover and its captivating synopsis. The synopsis also stated that 'Fans of Rachel Caine, Lisa Regan and Robert Dugoni will be gripped' . I am a huge fan of Lisa Regan's books so it will be interesting to see if it lives up to this statement.I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Bookouture. I have yet to read a book published by Bookouture that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first... Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book).

This novel consists of a prologue and 61 chapters. The chapters are short to medium in length so possible to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!

This book is based in Virginia, USA 🇺🇸

This book is written in third person perspective and the protagonist is Detective Amanda Steele. The benefits of third person perspective with are that it let's you see the bigger picture of what's going on and you get to know more characters more, what they are thinking and what they are doing. It feels like you get to see the whole picture and not miss out in anything.

This is an extremely well written book with vivid descriptions that will suck you straight into the storyline and captivated from beginning to end. The synopsis and cover worked perfectly with the storyline.

The storyline means that there is no problem with this being read as a standalone which is what I did. I was absolutely hooked throughout, a true page turner from beginning to end. The storyline was in depth and packed with suspense, twists, turns, shocks and was an edge of your seat, nail biting and heart racing psychological thriller. I was absolutely hooked. Carolyn has done lots of research into both police procedural and sex trafficking and this shines throughout. There's nothing worse that a book filled with minor errors as the author hasn't taken the time to do some research into the areas they have written about. I read this book in less than 24 hours and I'm looking forward to reading the previous book on this series as well as more to come. It certainly promises to be an epic series. It is one of the best books I have read this month and I really enjoyed. It was left on what I would definitely call a cliffhanger and I'm looking forward to seeing Amanda fight back and kick Hills butt.

I loved the characters who were all strong, well defined and unique. Amanda is absolutely whoop a## and I love seeing strong female leads in books. She has a background but will not let it pull her down and she is definitely someone I would love to have on my side. Trent is another fantastic team member and they work perfectly well together. Some of the characters were less likeable such as Hill and Jefferey but at the same time it was interesting to see the relationships between them and Amanda. I loved Rideout's character and personality and I also quite like Malone and see him as a sort of fatherly figure to Amanda. I am definitely looking forward to meeting them all again.

I could not praise this book enough and highly recommend. Carolyn welcome to my favourite authors list and I cannot wait to read more of your very successful work!!! I would also love to see this book turned into a movie. An absolutely addictive, compelling and gripping true page turner!!!

Overall an absolutely captivating, engrossing page turner that is compelling and addictive!!!

Genres covered in this novel include Thriller, Mystery, Police Procedural, Suspense, Hardboiled, Romance Novel, Psychological Thriller, Noir Fiction, Psychological Fiction and Crime Fiction amongst others.

I would recommend this book to the fans of the above as well as fans of Carol Wyer, Lisa Regan, Angela Marsons and ANYONE looking for an epic page turner .

359 pages.

This book is just £1.99 to purchase on kindle via Amazon which I think is an absolute bargain for this book!!!

Rated 5/5 (I LOVED it ) on Goodreads, Instagram, Amazon UK and Amazon US and on over 30 Facebook pages plus my blog on Facebook.

Stolen Daughters by Carolyn Arnold is the 2nd book in her Detective Amanda Steele series. As I have noted before, I have been a big fan of Arnold, having read most of her series. I feel this series is her best one yet, and love its wonderful heroine, Amanda Steele.

Amanda Steele, our heroine, is a homicide detective in Dumfries, Virginia Police Department. She is called to the scene where a young girl’s dead body was found in an abandoned building fire. As she and her partner, Trent begin their investigation, they discover that the girl was part of a sex trafficking ring. Shortly thereafter, a woman who had called in the fire to the police, is also found murdered; they suspect this may be the work of a serial killer. As they interview the family of some of the missing children over the years, Amanda is consumed with finding these missing girls.

Amanda is determined to stop the killer before they kill again, but then there is another fire, with two more dead girls who were probably part of the sex trafficking; the danger escalates as the killer is now setting their site on Amanda. How does the killer know about her past, and the deaths of her husband and daughter?

What follows is an exciting, intriguing, pulse pounding mystery that kept me unable to put the book down, especially knowing how Amanda continually put herself in danger. We did get a POV of the killer throughout, giving us a look at his madness. To say too much more would be spoilers, and this was a very good story that needs to be read from start to finish. I like all of the secondary characters that Arnold has created, but I was not crazy about the chief, who was trying to get rid of Amanda; even though she was their best detective.

Stolen Daughters was an excellent crime thriller that was suspenseful, dark, intense, and kept us glued to the end. Amanda, Trent & Sergeant made an excellent team. I really liked Amanda, as she was a great heroine, and a fantastic detective. Stolen Daughters was so very well written by Carolyn Arnold, and I cannot wait to see what she has in store for us in future books, especially with the surprise ending. If you like mystery thrillers, police procedural, then you need to be reading this book.

Stolen Daughters by Carolyn Arnold is a police thriller featuring Amanda Steele. A body is found in an abandoned house. Someone had tried to start a fire but it didn't take so it was easy to tell she'd been strangled. She was so young and she had the tattoo of a child trafficking gang on her shoulder. Amanda knew she hadn't stopped it, but this was too much to see. Why? Surely it was not the traffickers-too much money to lose. But, who? The nest day the person who had called in the alert about the fire was dead, too. Was it the same guy? Most of police work is done on the computer or in the files, so they got started: similar MOs, people who had just been release from prison, missing girls. They found a possible missing girl so they went to see her parents. Talk about dysfunctional. It was not their daughter, but they talked about a girl that had maybe run away with their daughter. It was a good lead. They kept digging. Then, two more. This time the fire took and there was not enough left to identify.

Amanda is like a dog with a bone. She can't let loose. She breaks rules to hunt criminals. Not everyone likes that. Her job is once more at risk. The rest of her life had been taken years ago when her husband and her daughter died. She had a boyfriend but she didn't know if it was serious. This was an interesting investigation to follow. It was a "good" series of crimes. The clues were there to be followed. She and her partner did it. What they forgot to do was call for backup. Another mistake for Amanda. Would this be the one that does her in? Good plot ... scary... a nightmare really. Excellent characters, not only Amanda, but her friends, both in the force and out. Good pacing. Kept me interested the entire time. Really, an amazing thriller. If you like this stuff, you'll like this. Kind of a continuation from the last book, but a stand alone if you haven't read that one.

Disclosure. This post is a review of an ebook I was sent for free. All opinions are my own.

This is the second title in the Detective Amanda Steele series. The story starts with a murder and arson in a vacant property. Who is the dead teenage girl? Detective Amanda Steele and partner Trent are assigned to the case. Meanwhile Sergeant Malone warns Amanda to tread carefully as Lieutenant Hill hates her and is trying to get her demoted.

A tattoo on the girl’s body reveals she was a victim of sex trafficking before she was a murder victim, linking this to Amanda’s earlier case. Then Amanda finds a note from the killer on her daughter’s grave. This is getting too close for comfort. More deaths follow and a false identification.

How can Amanda solve this case? What clues are there? How can she stop the reporters interfering?

A gripping page turner which I couldn’t put down. Highly recommended.
