Amazon bestselling author. Lover of mochacinnos. Player of Ice Hockey. Writer of fast-paced, page-turning epic fantasy and paranormal romance.
Coreene's living her best life in Canada, in a house full of teenage drama, with a spoiled Anatolian Shepherd while doing her best to remain immersed in a wild, imaginary world full of mayhem and monsters.
Oh my Goddess of All Things! Callahan’s novellas are such a tease! This time the big blond Norwegian water dragon rescues his mate from Ivar’s breeding program, but sets her free because he thinks he is unable to have a family with her. Gah! Stupid male! I want to wring his neck. Please, Coreene don’t leave it hanging like this. Bring Natalie back. Bring her back! 😭😭😭
Fury of Conviction is the second book in the Dragonfury Short Story Collection by Coreene Callahan. Who doesn’t love a great dragon shifter story- I know I do! So, it was never any question that I would snap up a copy of this book the moment I saw it in my notifications. Coreene Callahan is a ‘new-to-me’ author and I am really baffled as to why I haven’t come across her books before now, because after doing a little stalking- er, um, I mean research, I discovered that she has written a slew of Dragonfury books, and as I mentioned before, I LOVE dragon shifter stories, so I am kicking myself that I have been missing out all this time, and I hate missing out on good books lol…. Anyway, I digress, back to my review. This is a great little paranormal romance, with DRAGON SHIFTERS 😊, fantasy, kidnapping, drama, agendas, chemistry, and action. It was a great introduction to Ms. Callahan’s style, and definitely gave me a taste for her work. The only issue I have is that I wish it had been longer (this is a novella length quick and easy read) as there were aspects of the story I would like to have explored in greater detail. It really made me curious about the pack and the Dragonfury ‘world’- so I will definitely be going back to explore the rest of the Dragonfury books/series- as there seems to be quite a lot of full length novels there for me to sink my teeth into…. so stay tuned.
When first reading this book, I was thinking that it was just another dragon shifter book. But the author did a really nice job transporting the reader to Lake Chelan. I live in the Pacific Northwest and she did a decent job describing the surroundings and definitely made the reader "feel" at peace with those surroundings. I just really wish the characters had the same description and depth. The reader is transported to a serene environment and then quickly thrust into a predicament that the main character, Sveld struggles with but ultimately had a hand in creating. We find out quickly about his attraction to and attentiveness to Natalie, but again, not much backstory into who she is other than a person who ended up in a really bad situation. The story is novella-sized and a fun quick read. There are moments of action, then peace, and moments of steamy romance. A good combo for a quick read.
I am curious about what happens next. I think I would be more drawn to "what happens next" if the characters' stories and relationships were drawn out more and given more attention. I thought the premise of the story was a great idea. I found the book to be missing the depth of character. I do, however, think there is a lot of opportunity for potential growth to develop the characters more.
This was a really good read. I like the supernatural element in the story revolving around dragons and the romance between Hamersveld and Natalie is really special.
Natalie has been kidnapped to use as part of a breeding programme to help create more baby dragons. Hamersveld is one of the dragons in the pack. When he sees Natalie he vows to rescue her. However he can't take her as his own due to the fact he can't produce babies. Still he needs to rescue her and when he does the connection between them is amazing. So fully committed to each other it would make for a perfect ending. However things aren't that good. Natalie has to leave before the rest of Hamersveld's pack come and take her back to the breeding programme. With both their hearts breaking it is a classic story of if you love someone you have to let them go. But will this be the end for Natalie and Hamersveld or just the beginning.
Hamersveld is a dragon warrior. For years he was a loner. He recently joined a group of fellow dragon warriors called the Razorbacks. Unfortunately, the group has done a sketchy thing. Dragon warriors can only mate during a certain time. Other warriors have captured women to get the women ready for this alignment. One of the captives rocks Hamersveld world. He is drawn to her, and for that reason he has issued a no touch order on her.
Natalie is one of the captives. With her photographic memory, she has memorized the lair where she is being held against her will. Not knowing what her captors want with her, she and a fellow captive decide to try and escape their captivity. She almost makes it out of the lair when she is caught by a dragon warrior.
Hamersveld must make a choice on staying loyal to the Razorbacks or rescuing the woman who has captivated him since her arrival. What choice will he make and will it break his bond with the Razorbacks?
Fury of Conviction ("Villains” of the Dragonfury Series Book 2) by Coreen Callahan
This is the first book I've read by Callahan. Needless to say that it won't be my last. This short read will have you wanting more. Callahan knows how to draw her readers in.
Sveld is half-human half-Dragon. He thinks he can't have kids, but he doesn't want anyone to have what he's claimed. When the female he claims takes off it forces him to do something he normally wouldn't do. The quote I chose for Sveld is: “Couldn’t help myself. You look beautiful in my ropes, Natalie. Had to see it for myself, just once before…”
Natalie wants nothing to do with Sveld at first. Then she learns everything about him and it changes her mind. When she learns that she can't stay it hurts to leave him. The quote I chose for Natalie is: “At least five hundred miles, right? As long as I stay that far away, you can’t track me.”
I need Book 3 Now! Fury of Conviction by Coreen Callahan is book 2 in the “Villains” of the Dragonfury series. Although part of a series, it can be read as a stand-alone. This is my first dragon shifter book and boy am I happy I started with one by Coreen Callahan!
This is a short story and can be read in just a couple hours. I really enjoyed the relationship between Natalie and Hamersveld. Hamersveld is working though his own struggles, trying to decide how or if he's going to defy the rules and help Natalie. Being held captive, Natalie is just looking for a way out period! Little does she know; she has someone on her side to help her with that. But how far will she go?
Ending on a cliff with a steep edge, I am not so patiently waiting for the next installment of this story! I need to know!!! But in the meantime, I guess I can keep myself busy with her other books :)
Fury of Conviction ("Villains” of the Dragonfury Series Book 2) by Coreen Callahan 4 Star!!!!
I have once again found a new series and start out of order but don't feel out of sink. I really love the author's concept and I love dragons. I really could not put this book down. I am just hooked on dragon books and love dragon romances. I really like how the author was able to make this series one that flows with cliff hangers.
Hamersveld and Natalie have a complex love story and I for one love the fact that it is filled with drama and complexity. It makes it so much better story wise if it isn't predictable and like a carbon of another series. I love the fact that the book ends on a cliff hanger and it really makes me excited for the next. Bring me more is all I can say and let me delve into the world of dragons!
Natalie is the typical Dagonfury heroine. Very strong and independent, and not about to put up with this kidnapping crap.
As a “Villian” of the Dragonfury, Hamersveld is a pretty decent person. I mean, he is mean and tough, but as far as going along with the whole evil kidnapping plot….well, that is more of a survival thing. The dragon shifter is in a precarious situation which adds to the drama.
It’s a short story (89 pages), so the plot is pretty simple. It is also perfectly paced with romance being a larger theme than conflict or action. The story stands alone with just enough references to the first book in the series. However, the ending might make you wish it were a bit longer. Fury of Conviction is a perfect 2-hour diversion for anyone that enjoys a great dragon romance.
Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy of this book through Booksprout in exchange for my honest review.
I enjoyed this paranormal story. This is a shorter story that is full of action and just a great story. This is a well written story that the author used attention to details that gave the story a realistic feel. The characters brought the story to life on each page with the action and skills. They are connectable and truly made the story for me. I found this book to be a faster paced story that packs a punch. It is a story full of kidnapping and characters who are playing a game of life or death. Natalie is a great strong character and she is determined to find a way to escape her captor who makes no mistakes. I am glad I picked up this book and look forward to going back to read book one. I highly recommend this book.
Fury of Conviction by Coreene Callahan is the is the second book in the “Villains” of the Dragonfury series. This is quieter a short story but is full of action and excitement. The author has certainly figured out how to fit a lot into a small book. This book can be read in its own without losing any enjoyment. This is a new author to me and I really enjoyed how she conveyed everything in her writing. Although I finished the book quicker than I expected I did not feel like I had missed one in anything. It is a very fast paced book so it felt like I was taken on a whirlwind journey. I enjoyed the writing style and thought the characters were great to read about. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will be going back to read book 1.
Fury of Conviction is a great short paranormal romance filled with dragon shifters, kidnapping, drama, fantasy, and so much more. While I love a good novella as much as the next person my only disappointment in this book is I wish it was longer. Ms. Callahan put so much into this novella that I found myself getting lost in the pages and before I knew it the book was over. Her writing is creative and beautiful, with wonderful characters, a terrific plot line, and an overall story that I just didn’t want to end. I will definitely be looking for more from Ms. Callahan and I personally recommend you pick up a copy of Fury of Conviction immediately.
This is the first time reading Coreen Callahan and this paranormal story was an entertaining read. "Fury of Conviction" is the second in the "Dragonfury" series and can enjoy on its own but I will be reading the first one next! Since this story is short it is a quick read, ideal for a holiday, travel, or while waiting during appointments. Its attention to detail in plot development and characters also make the pages turn! I recommend this book to fans of this genre and to those looking to try it as well
FURY OF CONVICTION (The Dragonfury Series Book 2) by Coreene Callahan - Review by Krista Vaughan
The treatment of females by male dragons in this rogue faction is not a good step for developing a relationship. The women are taken captive and kept to produce heirs. Hamersveld is working with the Razorback pack of dragons when he first saw Natalie. He wants her desperately, and does what he can to keep her relatively unscathed while she is a captive. Natalie eventually attempts escape and find herself with Hamersveld away from the main populace. Will she spends time with him as he hopes? Will she want him too? This is a wonderful adventure filled with angst, anticipation and desire. Such a good read!
I love that Hamersveld has found some redeeming qualities within himself and that he has partially stood up for what he felt was wrong. I am expecting great things to come from him. Natalie changed too once she got away for her prison cell and was with Sveld. The only thing negative I have to say is that the ending ended with a bit of a cliffhanger between these two. I realize that several things have to change before they receive their complete hea. (I was sort of hoping that he could join in with Mac's group.) This would probably be an epic novel if everything happened at once. I am biting at the bit to get more of these glorious dragon stories!
I absolutely fell in love with this book. Once I started I couldn’t stop, Hamersveld and Natalie are now on my list of characters I adore. The chemistry between them and the passion they had for one another jumped off the pages. Natalie was tough and she didn’t back down and Hamersveld was the enemy but started to care for her and she didn't know how to handle it. This is a very steamy and fun read, I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good dragon shifter Romance, very enemies to lovers! Coreene Callahan did a great job bringing these characters to life!
Kidnapped and held captive with other young women in beautiful prison, Natalie searches desperately for a way to escape. Little does she know, she has caught the eye of dangerous and mysterious Hamersveld.
An outcast until recently, Hamersveld wishes to prove his worth to the Razorback Pack. When he sees Natalie held in the Pack breeding preparation lair, his heart tells him he must save her. Both find themselves drawn to each other with an undeniable energy, and together they must decide where their loyalties lay.
Although novella-size in length (under 90 pages), this book didn't skimp on anything. It's fun, interesting, well-written, and has a very believable romance. I enjoyed getting to know Natalie and Hamersveld. The work well together. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
I received a copy of this bookfrom the publisher, Oliver Herber Books, via Booksprout. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor or expectation.
Fury of Conviction ("Villains” of the Dragonfury Series) by Coreene Callahan is a paranormal story. This is the second book in the series and is a short story. The story flows nicely but I wish it were longer than a little tease. The plot is simplistic in its telling but has enough of everything to hold your interest and become invested. With sexy alpha Dragon shifters this little taste of what Coreene can do will have me running back to read more of this intriguing and interesting world she has created. I do love me some shifters.
What’s not to love!?! Dragon shifters and romance make a brilliant combination. This is the first book I have read from this author and even though this is the second book of the series I didn’t feel like I was any missing threads of the story. The author’s writing is well executed and I love the world she has created. It is a short story though, so a quick read. Looking forward to reading more in this series.
I really enjoyed this book by Coreene Callahan, I mean who wouldn’t enjoy dragons. The story centers around the dragon Hamersveld and a human Natalie. These two managed to find each other in a world full of drama and intrigue and I enjoyed every minute of their journey. Coreene Callahan has created a world that I fell in love with and I look forward to reading more from her.
This is the second book in the series. I mean dragon are amazing mythical creatures right. This book brings so much more than just dragons to you a mythical world. I would of loved more to this story.
This book is a must read for the series. You find out important information about Hamersveld and it ends on a big cliff hanger for his story. Now I gotta figure out which book will reveal the rest cause I have to know how this goes!
This is the first dragonfury book I have read, and also the first book I have read by this Author, Coreene Callahan. This book grabbed my attention pretty quickly, and once I got to the scenes between Hamersveld and Natalie I couldn’t put it down! The steaminess between these two characters was simply too much - in the best way! I recommend this book to anyone interested in a fast paced, sexy tale between two lovers, with the added element of fantasy dragon characters. I now want to read all other books in this series. Highly, highly recommend this book, series and author.
Fury of conviction by Coreene Callahan Couldn’t stop reading from the moment I picked it up. Full of action from start to finish. A creative and original storyline. My only complaint is that I wish there was more. I finished it so fast. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
Coreene Callahan BLEW ME AWAY. I loved this book so dang much! And the ending... yes, yes, yes! Totally captivating, leaving you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens! I cannot possibly wait to read the next book!! Excellent job, well written and easy to follow!
