Coreene's living her best life in Canada, in a house full of teenage drama, with a spoiled Anatolian Shepherd while doing her best to remain immersed in a wild, imaginary world full of mayhem and monsters.
Fury of Destruction by Coreene Callaghan Dragonfury book 7. Paranormal dragon shifter romance. Best read as part of the series. Gage knows that Samantha is his mate as soon as he sees her but since they are in the middle of a setup to take down Dragonfury enemies, he needs to drag her into his world without any advance notice. Dragons shifters exist!
Samantha immediately feels comfortable with Gage because she can hear him inside her head. She feels the same pull he does and soon they become intimate and committed to the relationship. ie several steamy sex scenes. Cameo appearances of prior couples and updates on their lives are included since most of the Dragonfury group lives together in a huge underground fortress in the mountains.
Two other storylines intertwine from different dragon septs. Ivar is an enemy of the Dragonfury clan and is intent on a female breeding program. Azrad was thought to be an enemy but is really undercover and has infiltrated Ivar’s group. We are left hanging on this storyline though as part of a cliffhanger. Here’s hoping the next book is faster than the last break between books!
Fighting and battles between the dragons are amped up in this book exponentially.
I liked the heroine for her strength and acceptance of the whole dragon thing as well as her self awareness. I also like that all the dragons have accepted the psychotherapist from the prior book and have listened to advice, here in particular for Osgard which starts this whole story. Entertaining, steamy and a dragon shifter adventure.
Ok, so this is my favorite of the series so far. I adored Gage and Samantha's connection. Their bond formed quicker and seemed solid from the start. I know it's because of Sam being deaf and her ability to connect in other ways. It just made their coming together much more exciting. Even though I started this series out of order with book 6 as my first, I actually wouldn't recommend it. I did go back and re-read the series in order before this book came out and I'm more connected and invested in these characters because of it. There is a lot going on in this book. Not just Gage and Samantha, but several strings to follow that has me very excited for future books. As the saying goes, things are really starting to heat up.
Super good! I'm so happy to be back in this world. I loved Gage and Samantha's story, and there is so much more of the overall series arch to go. Happy reading!
It was worth the long wait for this book. However, I hope that the next book will be released a little earlier. It will be exciting...
Gage and Samantha are a perfect match. I liked her from the first page to the last. Her disability is a welcome change from the often all-too-perfect heroines in romance novels.
So much happens in this book ... It's getting tight around Rodin and Zidane. The fronts are forming. War is in the air. Ivar and Sveld ... - Well, it will be interesting to see how they will develop. At least now it becomes clear that Ivar - even if you don't want to say it out loud - is a genius in his own way. Different than planned, but ... wow ... a really interesting twist.
The Nightfury family grows and grows ... - That was really nicely implemented in this book.
And now ... I just want m-o-r-e ....
I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley for an honest review.
Pre-release copy via Netgalley. I am a fan of Paranormal Romance, especially dragons. A large percent in this genre are steamy and use rough language. I gloss over these when reading, so my review will be based on the story, worldbuilding, and characters. Fury of Destruction is a familiar world since I've read many of the previous books and looked forward to revisiting the Dragonfury world. One of the things that stood out to me from the beginning and carried throughout the story even more than the romance was the brotherhood. Gage is the primary male lead. He and his two fellow metallic dragons have been damaged by the enemy who held and tortured them. (This is a previous story not detailed in this book) The relationship between them connected me to the main character more than any previous books. Gage is tough, no-nonsense, and a fierce warrior. But he is a warrior with heart. A huge heart. Not only do his friends count on him, but his leader respects him. Samantha is the female lead. I adore her bright sarcastic wit, tender heart, and sheer courage. Sam has had a tough life, but she is an overcomer and someone you want to have a happy life. She rolls with the punches, and even when a scene overwhelms her, she recovers and keeps her humanity. Worldbuilding and action are well done, never being too much or too little. The pacing keeps you rollicking along and often laughing out loud at the dialog between characters. The main characters get a satisfactory ending. So much room is left in this series, especially with the multiple antagonists. Fans of paranormal romance will enjoy this book. I highly recommend Fury of Destruction. You can probably figure this out without reading the other books, but for the full richness of the Dragonfury world, start at the beginning and binge.
Fury of Destruction successfully builds on the suspense, anticipation and allure of the previous Dragonfury books to deliver heart pounding excitement, fiery sexiness and romance that tunnels below the surface into your heart.
After returning from a field assignment in Prague that resulted in his capture and torture, dragon shifter Gage is dealing with guilt, doubt, and unspeakable frustration. He doesn’t know how to help himself, much less protect his best friend, his Nightfury brothers or his newly adopted teenager. But he has been doing the best he can, when he unexpectedly encounters his fated mate in a beautiful blond goldsmith that he accidentally set up as Razorback bait.
Samantha recognizes something unique in Gage as well when she spots her handsome jewelry client from across the room. Inappropriate thoughts that flash across her mind are replaced with rage when he insists that she needs to leave with him. Now! What follows is a crash course on Dragons for Sam.
I love Sam as a heroine! In a world where dragons are hidden from humans but fated mates recognize their bond to each other immediately, Sam still stands out as one of the most adaptable, understanding and supportive of mates. And she has an extra specialness that makes mindspeak an added blessing to her. There are times when it seems that there is so much going on with the Nightfuries, Razorbacks and Archguard Death Squad that Gage and Sam are edged out in their own book. I am glad Coreene Callahan was able to bring the focus back to this adorable and sultry couple.
The Dragonfury world is fabulous for its wickedly captivating characters, both “good” and “bad”, and their fascinating magical powers. No two dragons are alike, which makes for a treasure trove of fun for paranormal nerds like me. It’s got a great feminine-based mythology and enough intertwined storylines that readers should be strongly advised to read the previous books in order. For those who do, the reward is totally immersive enjoyment. Highly recommended!
This is a sincere review of an ARC of Fury of Destruction requested from the publisher via NetGalley.
This is a series that I began several years ago and got to the end of the published books at that time. Reading as many books as I do, it is sometimes difficult to remember the specific details of books from years ago, but I actually was surprised with the fact that I did seem to remember most of the plot and the characters (dragons).
This book focuses on Gage - a metallic dragon who is over 200 years old. Gage has adopted a male youngling dragon Oswald who, much to his surprise, has found that he loved Oswald as a son almost immediately. Oz was tortured horrifically by Rodin and Zidane, and Gage can understand this because he was also thrown in a prison and tortured by Zidane before he was rescued by his pack.
There is a lot going on in this story. There is the Gage story arc with him finding his mate Samantha Redhook. Sam is a goldsmith and was crafting the medallion for Gage that he was going to give to Oswald - to show that he was truly a member of the NightFury's pack.
Unfortunately, Sam gets placed directly in the middle of a fight between Gage and the Razorback pack and surprisingly Zidane is involved as well. Zidane has unexpectedly appeared in town along with an Archguard commissioned kill squad. Gage immediately realizes that Sam is his mate and he also realizes that his dragon is not going to let her go. Luckily, Sam seems to be onboard with this.
There is also the storyline of the evil dragon Ivar and his experiments that he is conducting on HE females, females that he has kidnapped and is holding in cages at his lab. Then, there is Azard, B's brother, who is undercover with the Razorbacks to try to find and rescue the women being held by Ivar.
Oh, and that doesn't even include Zidane's storyline- the plans he has of overthrowing Ivar as the leader of the Razorback pack.
See, lots going on.....
Felicity Munroe is the narrator of this book and does a good job with all of the various accents. I always preface this by saying that as an American, I really don't know the difference between a proper English accent and an Irish accent - so I'm assuming that they are correct. Either way, there are very many different nationalities in this story and I enjoyed listening to the way she performed them.
We are getting closer and closer to the Meridian alignment and how that is going to affect the dragons.
So, I'm off to book 8. Things are moving and I'm excited to see where things are going.
OMG, what a fantastic read!!! I absolutely loved this story.
Gage and Haider were always kind of on the periphery for the first several books. I thinknthe 1st trie glimpse into him came when he went to see Hope regarding his son. This warrior is a no nonsense, blunt, hard loving "man-dragon" who absolutely did not disappoint.
Samantha was a great character as well. She is a perfect match for Gage. She is intuitive, blunt and fierce.
I like that he instantly recognized her as his mate and made no bones about telling her either. Their relationship came together with a lot less drama than some of the others.
I live the interavtion with the Metallics and how Gage and Nian formed a new bond. Also, like Nian, I think I want to be an Earth Dragon when I grow up. Absolutely loved Sloan's part of the story and can't wait to read his book.
The Nightfury's are still battling the Razorbacks. Ivar's beliefs are shifting with the help of Sven. Not sure where that is headed but can't wait to see. It was very interesting to see someone else from hisbpack speak up against what he's doing with the females. The addition of Zidane and his kill squad I felt like also changed something within the Razorbacks that will be interesting to watch.
Definitely recommend this book but you must read the 1st 6. 😁 Heat level was 🔥🔥🔥.
Fury of Destruction (Dragonfury, #7) by Coreene Callahan I couldn't wait for this book and was not disappointed! This dragon warrior Gage and Samantha's story. It is also the Nightfury's story, so many questions answered and new ones yet to come. I enjoyed catching up with all of them and the angst, anger, fear, discovery, laughter, tears, so many feelings and steam to get us to their HEA.
Reasons I enjoyed this book: Tear-jerker Scary Steamy Entertaining Happily Ever After Unpredictable Wonderful characters Action-packed Page-turner Funny Romantic Great word building
This is Gage's story. The Night Fury continue to battle the bad guys and keep their power in the US intact. Gage happens upon Samantha on one of their missions and he knows right away she is his mate. But she is a tuff cookie and is going to make him work for it.
Great action in this one. Loved seeing all the team and their mates settled. Interesting to follow Azrad and his undercover work with the bad guys. Loved this power couple to pieces!
****1/2 stars- I have waited over a year to read the next book in the Dragonfury series. This book does not disappoint. There is a lot going on in the book. The book was full of on the edge of your seat action. Gage, Haider, and Nian are back after the horrors in Prague. Gage brought Osgard back from Prague as his adoptive son. He has decided to make him officially part of the Nightfuries. Gage found a goldsmith online to make a medallion for Osgard. When Gage goes to meet the person he discovers she is a high energy female and his mate. Samantha Redhook is deaf. With Gage she can hear his voice in her head. Gage is one tough warrior. Gage is a bronze metallic dragon. He shows a sweet and patient side to Samantha we have never seen before. The connection and love they share is intense and sizzles with their need for each other. They are made for each other.
Sloan is more vocal in this book. You get to finally know more about him. Sloan is an earth dragon. He has never gotten over the loss of his son. Bastian, the leader of the Nightfuries, has pushed Sloan away from hiding behind his computer. Bastian has made him part of the night missions again. Sloan is more alive than he has been in a long time. He is enjoying the camaraderie of the pack that he was never a part of.
The author has built an awesome world with great characters. We get to see all the guys from the Nightfury pack once more. It’s wonderful to interact with Bastian, Rikar, Venom, Wick, Mac, and Forge again. It is nice to catch up with previous characters. Ivar of the Razorbacks is still battling his feelings for Sasha. Hamersveld (Sveld) yearns for Natalie. Azrad, Bastian’s little brother, is still deep undercover with the Razorbacks along with his wing mates Terranon and Kilmar. The Archguard Death Squad is in Seattle causing lots of trouble with Zidane leading the pack and his father Rodin in Prague. Finally we get the Scottish pack interaction we have been waiting for!
This was a fun and entertaining read. I enjoyed this book immensely. I reviewed some character’s key events in previous books to get a better understanding of their issues that I did not remember. I look forward to reading the next book in this series. I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Ok so A LOT happened in this book... Lets just get to it... (Spoilers)
Gage, Haider, and Nian are still struggling a bit with the whole being imprisoned overseas, under the Archguard... But they manage to get it together a little... More trauma work needs to be done and they pretty much all agree on that... Even though we didn't really get to see them work with Hope (Forges mate) we know that it's coming soon...
Gage and Samanthas story kind of fell flat for me... I don't exactly know why but I found myself just skimming through the parts where they interacted...
Now for what kept me into the book...
Samantha is deaf... That was actually pretty nice to read about a deaf character because not a lot of authors write about deaf characters, and I love it when people, no matter their race, disability, or anything else that would exclude an author from writing about them is included into a book...
Azrad is finally in with the HE females that Ivar keeps hidden... It's about time! Don't know how that's going to play out but I'm ready for it...
Sloan was actually included in this book more than the others so that was also nice to see as well...
I called it in the little novella about Hamersveld, Ivar and Hamersveld are going to end up in the nighfury pack... I see this coming... In all honesty I'm ready for them to end their feud with the Nightfuries, so that they can all fight the archguard together...
We have mercenaries gunning for the Nightfuries so that was actually interesting as well... They actually had to pull back instead of continue fighting...
MYST HAD THE BABY!!!! She had been pregnant forever, ITS ABOUT TIME.... They pulled through and everything turned out fine so that was actually a relief...
Angela shifted into a dragon... They are all speculating that it's because of Ivars serum... The thing of it is, I believe that the only reason why this worked for Angela and why she pulled through is because she is mated to Riker... Idk a few things to explore with that...
All in all, I have followed the dragonfuries since Bastien and Myst and I am still loving this series... I was more interested in everything but Samantha and Gages relationship though so, the romance just didn't do it for me in this book... Still though I recommend this series...
Awesome dragon shifter romance! I started reading this series years ago and I enjoyed it but eventually lost contact with the books. Now Coreene is back writing the series again and it's just a fabulous adventure. There is so much going on with the series and several plot lines. Every time I thought the story would quiet down another twist would come out of the blue. There was so much action and several awesome dragon battles. I loved the strong and instant bond between Gage and Samantha. She's deaf and his connecting with her almost from the first instant and helped to make communication easy. Sam's such a strong and creative woman after enduring all the roadblocks in her life. I can't wait for the next book!
Samantha Redhook is a goldsmith who is struggling to make ends meet. She is deaf from her bout of meningitis her drug addicted mother didn't catch. Sam was taken to the hospital at 15 by a neighbor who found her sick in the hallway. From then on she was raised by her gruff but loving Grandpa who taught her goldsmithing that they did together. She learned ASL as well as to read lips and was determined to not lose her ability to speak out loud. She and Gage meet when he picks up the medallion she was commissioned for his adopted son Osgard. This changed her life forever.
Gage is a 6' 8" bronze dragon warrior who has been tortured. His wing mates are silver dragon Haider, and gold dragon prince Nian. He brought Osgard, a teen dragon, out of Zidane's torturous death camp with him and adopted him as his own. The moment he sees Sam he knows she's his destined mate. The connection is instantaneous. Unfortunately Ivar and his Razorback's intercept their online communication and try to capture Sam before Gage does. Sam is brought into the dragon world quickly as a fight over her ensues. I loved watching the bond between these two very strong willed individuals grow into love. We also are treated to several other story threads involving Ivar, Zidane and the other dragon clans oversees. This was a blast.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
it's been a while since we've visited the nightfury pack and since I didn't reread/scan the prior books before delving into this one, it felt it. there are a number of characters and plot points that carry over from the prior books into this one. I highly recommend new readers (or those who have only read the more recent novellas about the Scottish pack) start at the beginning of the series. Enjoyed seeing Gage's gentler/more caring side in addition to the tough alpha warrior one, Sam's deafness (due to teenage illness) was an interesting difference and seemed to be well handled, not just glossed over or used for plot bait. as fated mates, their romance happens quickly (in fact most of the book occurs over just a few days) but was passionate and the two fit and balanced each other well which made it feel more realistic. I continued enjoyed the interaction and sense of brotherhood between the dragons within the packs as this is one of the strengths of the series. while the various ongoing series plot lines did have some movement, they weren't wrapped up - only new questions added, however the primary romance for the book did reach a HEA point and there was no major cliffhanger. due having to try to recall a lot of the carryover details after such a long time between books, it took me a bit to get to the point of fully enjoying and connecting with the book which decreased my overall enjoyment level. this is an issue others may not have. all in all, this was a good installment in the series and renewed my hope for more stories with the nightfury pack.
arc courtesy of net galley in exchange for a fair and honest review
I enjoyed this paranormal romance, but I suspect it reads better as part of a series (this one comes in at number 7). As a standalone, it is a little light on the plot as it relates to the main couple, Gage and Samantha; their relationship instead seems more of a vehicle for the series arch, and we have to content ourselves with a we-just-met-but-are-fated-mates whirlwind courtship (with a little you-kidnapped-me-and-I-hate-you-for-five-seconds thrown in).
It's a shame too because Samantha is super interesting. A gifted artisan, she was abandoned by her drug-addicted mother when she (Sam) was in the hospital with meningitis (which left her totally deaf). Though her deafness does get decently incorporated, I was disappointed not to see more evidence of her mad jewelry-making talent. As a result, she becomes mostly defined by her deafness and her connection to Gage.
Gage is a good hero, though he seems to have developed most of his richness in character as a result of events from a previous book. I wanted to see more of it here. Otherwise, he's a loyal friend, devoted lover, and amazing fighter, and he's easy to crush on.
If you've read that other books in the series, you'll likely be delighted to see the gang again. This one was my first, but I did find myself falling just a little bit in love with all the Nightfuries and their mates. I just wish this particular story was a little more complete.
I received an ARC of this book from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion. Thanks!
I feel like I've waited soooo long for this book to come out!!I reread all the previous books just to get ready for this book. There is so much that happens in the series, I didn't want to miss anything in this book. Confusion in the life of Dragonfury world is a no go for me! I had so many questions before this book, I hoped that this story would address them all.... it gave me even more than I expected!
I loved getting to know Gage and what drives him. Samantha was a perfect match for him and I liked that she was a different. I was so happy to hear from Angela again! She's one of my favorite women in the series, I hope we get to hear more from her in the next book with her new change in life. In this story, we really get to know Sloan. He's a reclusive earth dragon that normally likes to stay in his room underground with barely any contact with anyone else but he really comes out here. There is so much going on in this book in the whole dragon world, it's a lot to absorb but it makes it much more exciting! You learn more about Osgard, Haider, Angela, Nian, Azrad and Ivar. Characters are changing and it's interesting how points of views are shifting. If you've read all the previous books, this will not disappoint! It only gets better! I cannot wait for the next book to find out what happens. I strongly recommend this series to anyone!
In this latest instalment Gage meets his match when he goes to pick up the medallion that he has had commissioned for his adopted son Osgard.
Samantha has been deaf since the age of fifteen and doesn’t really want to do the face to face meeting, but her whole life changes as soon as Gage walks through the door. Gage knows what and who she is immediately, putting a spanner in the works as using her for bait. Especially as not only is she a High Energy female, but she is his mate.
Sam is more aware of the connection between the two and both state things plainly.
More of the story unravels and the grander story gets more exciting as surprising events happen that shock the Nightfury pack. Nian becomes more a part of the pack and Osgard relaxes more into his nee family. We also get to see more of Sloan and his talents.
This is book seven in the Dragon Fury series. The series has an overarching plot and storyline with many enemies and villains and twists. This book features the leader of the metallic triad Dragons, Gage. He is a new single father, by choice, to a young teenager Oz, that he saved from abuse in the previous book six. Gage is struggling along with Haider, and Naim from being abused and tortured in book six. The triad and Oz escaped but now have to deal with the fallout of being captured whilst they heal. The good news is that they made it back to the Dragon Fury headquarters and getting better. Alpha Leader Bastian is smart, clever, and has so wicked powers. Gage meets Samantha by chance, but that just makes it sweet when these two accept their attraction. Read On!
Excellent new story in the Dragonfury series. It features Gage and Samantha. I absolutely loved the two of then together. I could really feel the connection and chemistry between them.
There's danger, laughter, angst, caring, and lots of steamy heat. We got some long-awaited awaited answers to some questions ...and then more that need answers (which I enjoyed as this is really keeping me interested and invested in the story and series). I recommend reading the other books in the series for maximum enjoyment. I'm looking forward to whatever happens next.
I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher, Oliver Herber Books, via Booksprout. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor or expectation.
SPOILER ALERT. I waited forever...hmmmm maybe not forever. Whatever. This series has gone Nuclear!! So many things are happening with the Nighfury pack. We have Gage and Samantha, Nian...namby pamby, by the way it's a cool sarcastic nickname. Haider, that rounds up the Metallic Trio. Sloan the computer geek Slash creator of tunnels. B's baby bro getting the kinky on in a locked room. Ange shifting into a freckin dragon. Annnnddd to top it off Ivar not being a vicious baddie dude, as well as his second. Wow woopa wee. I definitely need more, give me more please
This book was my favorite in the series so far! Sam and Gage have a great connection and I just love seeing how much the guys are trying to make Osgard feel welcome and part of the family. There was so much going on in this book, that I couldn't put it down. I can't for the rest of the guys' stories. After this book, she even has me wanting stories for Hamersveld and Ivar.
I would definitely recommend starting from the beginning of this series instead of starting on this book as you will miss a lot of back story.
An amazing story. Well worth the wait, of how Gage, whilst trying to address a mistake he innocently makes, has to make some hard and fast decisions in order to correct those mistakes, and keep his newly discovered mate out of harms way.
Samantha, a beautiful and talented gold smith, whom also happens to be deaf, is thrown into danger from their very first meeting.
Lots of twists and turns, and a serious amount of angst sees the Night Fury pack pulling together in order to protect one of their own to secure another happy ever after for a member of their team.
I happened to find this series from a book club that I'm part of and WOW, I'm sure happy we read this series!! This book is phenomenal and so is the series!! I absolutely LOVED Gage and Samantha's story!! I enjoyed reading about other characters too and can't wait to read about what happens next in the next book!! If you haven't read this book OR series I highly recommend it, it truly is worth your time. I also listened to this book on Audible and it was really great!!
What can I say? Wow. It kept me on the edge of my seat. My heart is still racing. Non-stop action. All the feels came into play. I loved the chemistry between Gage & Samatha. But there's also Osgard, I can't leave the boy out. I'm so glad to see him so happy. I'm also glad to see him and Samantha hitting it off. I can't wait for more books. Nian... What about him? I truly love your books, Coreene Callahan!
Corrine Callahan's Dragonfury series is one of my personal favorites. Paranormal romance is my go-to genre. I consider myself to be a connoisseur of these types of books and believe me when I tell you that what the world of Dragonkind has to offer, you will want some of. Start with book one in the series and just keep reading. I'm betting you will be hooked from the start. I'm once again waiting for more wonderful stories grounded in this world.
I turned to the last page and all I want is more to read. More excitement, more sexy growly dragons, more of a "family" that loves and takes care of each other. Gage is amazing. He is not afraid to show his sensitive side when it is needed, even if he would be more comfortable knocking heads. So many dragons, so little time. I am always happy to see when this author has a new book!
I was a bit disappointed. I guess as a part of a series it was an interesting book and we found out a lot of new things about dragons. But as a romance it was very weak, I was more interested in all the secondary stories than in our main couple. Half of the book consisted of detailed descriptions of dragons fighting in the sky, which was quite boring for me. And I am almost sure that the author is planning a happy ending for Ivar, and I simply hate the guy. All in all, just three stars.
I have been waiting on Gage's book for a long time! He's my favorite:D. Anyhoo this book was a lot in the best way possible! Something super unexpected happened (Even Ivar will be surprised!). Great love story that does not take away from the story at large. Great balance! I am already impatient for the next one;).
Samantha and Gage have the usual instant chemistry and love. I am feeling increasingly frustrated at the cast expanding without resolving anything. Lots of talking about the bad guys and lots of villains planning but nothing seems to change. The problem with so many characters is everything feel surface level. Not sure this series works for me anymore.
