A betrayal...a secret baby….an unknown imposter…will Tess survive the wagon train journey to Sunset Hills, Oregon after her life is threatened? And if so, what will she do once she gets there?
***************************************************************************

1855. Independence, Missouri. Tess Findlay can’t wait to be reunited with her beau who went out west three months ago to mine for gold, saying he’d send for her once he’d gotten established. Even though she hasn’t heard from him she’s discovered she’s with child and decides to join a wagon train to travel to Oregon to surprise him with the news. When a band of robbers holds up the caravan, Tess is shocked to recognize her beau as one of the outlaws. He warns her that someone on the wagon train isn’t who they seem but before he can reveal the person’s identity he is killed in a gunfight. Who can Tess trust? She is drawn to widowed physician Garrett Kincaid but fears for her life and that of her unborn child. Besides, what man would ever want a woman who is carrying another man’s baby?

Garrett Kincaid is looking forward to bringing his youngest nephew, Jacob, to join his sister and brother-in-law in their new home of Sunset Hills, OR. His sister begged him to care for her young son until the rest of the family got settled. The time is right for them to make the journey west. There is nothing left in Kansas now for Garrett, anyway, not since his wife died of typhoid fever. He’s always wanted to start his own medical clinic, and Sunset Hill seems like the perfect place. However, after the wagon train is robbed, Garrett realizes he will have to do everything in his power to help the group arrive safely. When Jacob befriends a beautiful young woman, Garrett can’t help but wonder why she is traveling alone. Can he discover her secrets without scaring her away? And he is ready to love again?

The author has written a sweet and heartwarming story of disappointment, danger and romance. This is Tess Findley and Garrett Kincaid's story. Tess had a beau who left to travel west to work in the gold fields promising to send for her. When Tess discovers she is pregnant, she decides to join a wagon train and travel west to surprise her beau. Unfortunately, things do not go as planned. Garrett is a widowed physician who is taking his nephew Jacob west to be reunited with his parents and plans to open his medical office. When Jacob becomes attached to a beautiful young woman named Tess, Garrett wonders why she is traveling alone. Then danger strikes. Will Garrett be able to keep Tess safe? Will Garrett be able to put aside his love and memories of his wife who died of typhoid fever and allow himself to fall in love again? Be sure to read this short but great story. I know you will enjoy it.

What a great faith filled story! One of mistakes made in the past are forgiven, with the study of the Lords book. A wagon train and the friendships made on it to find out they are going to the same town so will be neighbors as well.
No sexual references or language so I can recommend this to anyone who wants a good clean book. ( it does talk about sex out of wedlock, and getting pregnant by it. So if you are previewing this for your advanced reading teen I’ll leave it up to you as if you think that is something you want them to know about. But the story comes to face that issue and talks of God and forgiveness etc. so the author faces the issue and make it right.)
This is book 9 in this series but you don’t have to read these in order ( I didn’t) you won’t miss anything by reading them independently.
You won’t regret the time you spend on this uplifting and good book.

Tess and Garrett 💞

Sweet story of a young lady who thought she knew true love in her beau, Dirk. Unfortunately, she is now with child and he is on the opposite end of the country. Tess ends up on a wagon train to try and find him so they can marry. Circumstances don’t work out that way, but in the meantime, she comes to faith in Jesus and finds love in a man named Garrett.

I loved the story, except on two points. ** Possible Spoilers **
If Drusilla (hated her!) reminded Garrett of his deceased wife with her mean temperament, why was he so wrapped up in her for so much of the trip? Especially how she treated the children she was nanny to?
And secondly, this was way too short! But a great story 😊

The author didn't just create characters that were adorable and sweet, they created a community I was eager to become a part of, not to mention you will fall head over heels for Garrett right along with Tess.

This is a low angst, all-round heartwarming tale with plenty of action and a underlying theme of the time period. It's about family, friends, undeniable connections and most importantly love.

Christian Historical Romance

First off, I HATED the narration. This was my first virtual voice narration, and it will be my last! Talk about monotone! The cadence was missing, and there was no variation between characters, it was horrible.
But, the story was very interesting! I'm glad the characters grew closer to God and redemption was interwoven all through the story, even if some chose not to take hold of it!
