It ain’t casual. It ain’t in the seventh aisle of Kroger. It’s just a love story in the streets. There are no dragons. Might not be relatable either. It’s also short... Sorry about that.
I enjoyed how the two of them met. I loved the way Shay stood up to Rasheed although she was a little intimidated by him, she did let he know. I love that he made changes in his present life for his future, that was dope. This was really a cute story.
I read this book out of order from the series because it popped up on my Instagram feed and was drawn on right away. The story is so short I can’t say if you need a whole lot of back story from the other books to understand what happened. It was a pretty complete story with background history, a plot and a resolution all while having a strong male character in Rasheed ! He was 🔥🔥🔥 ugh Shay didn’t stand a chance! He was just as smitten though and when she put her foot down he knew he had a good woman he wasn’t willing to lose!
Oh this was such a delightful short...I mean Rasheed is a bit rude but he loves him some Shay. They are too cute together. I can't believe this book came out of a response for dissing Black romance. What a clap back
CN: mentions of domestic abuse, gun violence, drug money exchange, workplace hazing
There is always a particular pace to this author's works especially the Ganton Hill series. You are quickly engaged and the rhythm is almost poetic because it flows easily. Even in this short the rhythm and pace worked. Of course you want more when it's done but you appreciate what was given. Oh yes, Rasheed is bae but don't sleep on the heroine because she is boss lady!
Damn AP! You got this short story game on lock! Got sistah's wanting to go gas stations in the hood, hide in the back and wait for their thug teddy bear! 😂 Shay girl, you got your ish together! Trying to make your own way, but still helping out the fam when they are in a bind. Running into Rasheed, turned her world upside down! RASHEED! Whew! He is all that! Definitely rough around all the edges, but kind hearted. He was so drawn to Shay, and it was beyond his understanding. That connection that they built immediately was 🔥! But, Shay was not putting up with the bs! She laid it down, and made her expectations crystal clear! Loved it! Can't wait to see what else you have in store! 👍👍👍
I’m not gonna lie - I was prepared to give this book 5 stars off the top because of the meaning behind it. This was my first time reading this author and the purchase of the book was also in direct correlation to being aware of the significance of its creation. So it’s not that I had low expectations as much as I didn’t have any. But let me tell you - I was blown away! The fact that I’m so ready to jump into this series and the rest of the author’s back catalogue (as well as explore the titles under her other pseudonym) after reading under 50 pages (according to Amazon’s tally) is astounding. I’ll give it another book or two before I go full on “must read author,” but I have a good feeling about this...
Shay & Sheed was really a whirlwind EVERYTHING. Like making a drop gets you everything you needed and more. Shay didn’t know that Sheed wasn’t only the pick up man, he was going to be a whole lot more REAL QUICK. Ganton Hills men don’t waste any time playing about a woman. Once they feel that connection, it’s on and popping! Shay kept her guard up as long as she could, she really tried. But Sheed really APPLIED PRESSURE and had her going against everything her mind was telling her to. Happy she did because yeah she wasn’t playing about her & he made that real clear.
I enjoyed how the two character met and even though the lady didn’t make it too easy she didn’t make it too hard as well. I think once Rasheed stated he wanted Shay to quit her job because she wasn’t appreciated there and she stated she wanted him to quit the illegal activities they were better for each other. Communication is key; I’m glad both characters were mature enough to step outside of themselves and take a leap of faith being a legit team together. Good quick read!
Whew 🙌🏾Rasheed was a different breed! I absolutely loved everything about his personality and demeanor! BDE was an understatement. He can have the deed to anything he wants including my heart ❤️
I’m enjoying this storyline and hope it turns to a full novel. Drug dealer gone clean for the love of his girl??? Yeah I’m here for all the possible twists and turns
I enjoyed this from beginning to end. That slap crushed my soul but I got where Shay was coming from. Glad they got their stuff together and loved on each other
This was even better the second time around. Little did they know drug money would change the trajectory of their lives. I wish I could erase this from my brain just to re-read it again.
A man that listens the first time and acts immediately? Yes please. The insta-love was so good in this one. The delusional in me lives for gas station love stories. I just wish it was longer.
I feel like it’s taken me 7 books to get a proper vibe of this series because the books are so short and perhaps because I’ve been reading these expecting them to be doing something different. This was actually the first book in the series I got but being a stickler for reading in order, I had to wait till had read the previous books in the series. With this series, that doesn’t matter. The books and characters are only very loosely linked now and their stories apart from a couple of the early books- have no bearing on one another. I still really get the feeling that there is another set of books featuring Ganton Hills and these characters that we’re supposed to know. Nonetheless these are gangsta erotic romance shorts. In this one; realtor Shay is minding her business struggling not to be about “that life” when she meets Rasheed, a high level drug businessman. She’s doubtful about involving herself in the life until she can get some security that he’s not going to mess her life up. I mean it was okay in that this was ultimately wish fulfillment as Rasheed was willing to take away all her problems and look after her, but it also felt a little transactional around sex to me especially with the initial property purchase.
Short and sweet, but effective. The makings of a good short include dynamic characters, a great storyline and the ability to tie them all together within a relatively low number of pages. Gas Station Drug Money does just that. Rasheed is the man you love to have, a hint of mannish with decisiveness and a compassion underneath that is only revealed to those whom he deems worthy of it. He's just the right amount of let me dangle my feet off the edge and I can do this because I know he won't let me fall energy that you want in your man in real life and Book Bae between the pages. Shay is a sassy mostly self-assured work in progress who allowed somebody to lessen her worth once and learned the lesson by bouncing back stronger. When these two collide by circumstance, the sparks are felt even if they don't necessarily acknowledge them outright, they're a vibe, get to know them, you won't be disappointed.
🤔 I am not a fan of Urban Lit, but Aubree Pynn’s Ganton Hills series is 🔥. Each book is like watching a weekly TV episode. She introduced us to a new Hood and all the players are hustlers. Deep rooted gangstas who are not too cold to recognize “the one” when she shows up. Book 7 is about Raheem and Shay. These books are short stories so If I say anything about the story it’s a spoiler. They are instant attractions and move really fast. Sometimes logic is abandoned, the point is to show that love is a chance you have to take. If you find yourself with a little time and you want to read about gangsta love Ganton Hills will not disappoint. They are short, intense and full of fire 🔥.
This was my first read by Aubree Pynn and I was lulled in immediately by her storytelling talent. A 🔥 short, layered with enough ambiguity and character enigma that kept me intrigued. This story gave lovable, intelligent and charismatic characters who let their guard down and trust in that loving feeling.
Bad boy or Good man Rasheed knows what he wants and is the poster boy for going after it, while Shay has no idea what she’s getting herself involved in and with whom. Both are enigmas with a checkered past that binds and bond them.
Even though this book was a bit cliche I still loved it. ❤️❤️❤️ Short, filled with imagery, relatability and spice. 🌶️🌶️ ( Not a lot, Just one scene) but a lot isn’t needed within this story. I enjoyed the fact that Rasheed is a strong male. Who knows what he wants and how to get it by any means necessary. And the particular moment he wanted Shay. His manliness radiates from the pages. He shows his hardness and his softness, that’s a wonderful quality in a man. Shay a fierce woman who takes charge and doesn’t take B/S. I love a woman who exudes strength and femininity.
Shay and Rasheed are pretty much fated mates. They first meet at the drop off Shay does as a favor for her cousin. If they wouldn’t have met then, they would have met as realtor and client when Rasheed turned up for a showing of a building Shay had listed. Fate.
If you are in the mood for a quick and dirty read, look no further! This book is hot and can definitely be read in one sitting. I was in a reading slump and needed something to kick start my reading groove and this 100% succeeded in getting me out!
I liked this book better than the last. There was time that actually elapsed in the relationship to make it more believable. Even though they quickly went from 0-100 at least I can believe that they worked on their relationship and built together during the time.
Almost all of the stories have the main characters hooking up immediately or jumping into a relationship and insta love hella quick and the woman being broken and the men being reformed or got one foot in and one out of the game and saving the women.
I love a short story that can make me feel like I read the complete story.
This short story was just the amount of heat and drama to keep my attention. I love a story that has instant chemistry that is palpable and not just suggested. Rasheed is what every girl that has ever had a thing for a dope boy wishes he were. I very much enjoyed this short. Looking forward to reading more from this author.
Aubree Pynn has a problem, she keeps writing these male characters that we can’t get enough of. Rasheed is no different. He just my newest book boo whom I can’t get enough of. Rasheed and Shay’s love story jumps on you from the beginning and leaves you wanting more. If you haven’t entered the city limits I’d Ganton Hills, pack a bag and come along. You won’t be leaving anytime soon!
