The Terran Empire is at war with The Rhimodian cyborgs. The Terrans believe the cyborgs have stolen a system of planets from them. At least, that's how it started.
It degenerated into hatred and fear.
Veta, AKA The Temptress, a feared spy for the Terran Empire, now protects the Emperor's two daughters, the only family he acknowledges in the galaxy.
The Imperial Princesses are ready to end this war. Like their mother before them, they want to broker peace between the Terran Empire and the Rhimodians.
Peace would save both species.
They arrive with a Rhimodian cyborg escort.
Get attacked.
Now Veta, unsure of where the rest of the ambassadors escaped to, has to find the princesses and find out who attacked the envoy.
With her enormous cyborg escort whose body suit shows exactly what kind of physical assets he has, Veta has to use all her skills to get this cyborg to trust her.
USA Today and NY Times bestselling author Candice Gilmer leads a dangerous double life as a mommy and a writer. In between boo-boo healing and fixing broken toys, she writes stories usually to the tune of children's television shows.
Growing up in the Midwest, Candice stays close to her family, especially the ones with basements when the tornadoes come around.
All in all, she stays very busy, but really, she wouldn't have it any other way.
Can peace ever be reached between the Terrans and the Cyborgs? War is ongoing with the knowledge of how it started forgotten, degenerating and to hatred and fear.
Back story: Veta, aka The Temptress, is a feared spy of the Terran Empire, who protects the Emperor's to daughters (Princesses Caoimhe and Eleanor) who wish to end the war and broke her peace between their empire and The Rhimodians, the cyborgs.
Wraithin's Cyborg squad was chosen as the escort to ensure the Terran ambassador's entourage entered their space and docked safely.
On the way to a peace treaty, they were attacked. Now Veta is on the hunt to find the princesses and find out who attacked the envoy with Wrathin.
Deception and betrayal rule this insta-lust and crave-able to the end when Veta and Wraithin join forces to search the other moons for the rest of the ambassadors.
THE TEMPTRESS'S CYBORG is the first book in a new series written by an author I discovered on TikTok.
This is a strongly written book that sets the series up in such a way the reader doesn't even realize it is happening.
There are many quotes I highlighted that could be applied to real life... "Peace is merely a ceasefire to regroup." is just one of the many.
Another reason I enjoyed the story is because the female protagonist is smart and strong and stands tall in the face of adversities.
The heat factor is assumed as the sexy times are closed door (which I appreciate) yet the chemistry between H and h (she should really be the capital H) is undeniable.
I will absolutely be adding this series to my WTR list.
Veta works as a spy for the Terrans and is tasked with protecting the princesses on a peace mission directly by the emperor. The Terran and Rhimodian empires have been at war for years and the Rhimodian cyborgs desire peace also. When the Terrans enter Rhimodian space they are betrayed and shot upon. Veta is separated from the princesses and lands on a moon where she is rescued by Wraithain, a cyborg sent to protect her and ensure the peace talks happen. Working together the two must figure out who is chasing them and how to find the princesses. I received an advance copy of this book and voluntarily left a review.
Five Terran Ladies On A Peace Quest When the Terran spaceship is attacked just before it reaches the home world of the Rhimodian cyborgs, the five Ambassadors flee each in a separate pod, followed by a Rhimodian warrior. This is the first story about Veta and Wrathin, her rescuer. A bit history how the war between Terra and Rhimodia started and now Veta has to decide who is friend and who is enemy. A story full of action and steamy interaction. Worthwhile the time to read as Ms Gilmer knows how to paint a different world and different people, who acts very much like humans, the good and the bad Recommended!
Once again, Candice Gilmer has written another spectacular book. It brought together my love of sci-fi, powerful characters, fantastic dialogue, and romance.
It’s a brilliant combination of trying to figure out your backstabbing government, running for your life, trying to find the person they assigned you to protect, and all while being protected and defended by your enemy. ...in space.
The questions you’ll keep asking - Who is the true enemy?, What happens next?, and When can I read the next book?
Veta, spy, assassin, and bodyguard to the princesses, has to separately emergency evacuation with her charges, each ending up in different places, and she is found and protected by Wathin, a cyborg warrior tasked with protecting the ambassadors' entourage. LOVE this series but I can't decide whether to wait to see if it comes out in a set. It needs to be binge read. This first book is definitely a crisis saga, and an action-adventure, HFN book. So-o-o-o good. Can't wait for the rest.
This is the first in the Galactic Storm series. I don’t usually read science fiction romances, but I like this author so I thought I’d give it a try. I wasn’t disappointed. This book was much better than I was thinking it would be and I definitely want to continue reading this series. It took me a bit to get into it but once I did I didn’t put it down until I finished it. If you like Sci-fi romances I definitely recommend this book.
The Temptress’s Cyborg is Book 1 in the Galactic Storm series and I am glad that there will be more! I really like how Candice Gilmer rights strong female characters who can hold their weight, if not out do, the male characters. Veta is definitely one of those characters. While Gilmer built a whole new world with complex ties and story lines, this book is an easy read (could read in one sitting).
I am looking forward to what Book 2, The Lady’s Cyborg, will bring to the table!
The Temptress's Cyborg: A Cyborg Sci-fi Romance (Galactic Storm Book 1) by Candice Gilmer is a wonderful story to read. This is book number one in this wonderful start to a brand new series that I am so hooked on and can not wait to read the rest. I highly recommend this Sci-Fi romance to everyone.
I read a complimentary Advanced Reader Copy of this book & am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review.
Read the entire book in one go. It's an easy read with lots of action and some steamy scenes as well. When reading you can image being in the place with them. It's not a cliffhanger this book ends with, but you do need to read the rest because otherwise you left feeling unsatisfied. I for sure can't wait to see what happens next.
This book is just excellent- I absolutely adore Veta’s character, she is an amazing heroine. Smart, resourceful and strong, just awesome. There is massive betrayal and heroism and romance. Great story. Wrath in is brilliantly written, he is also a fabulous character. Their interactions are fascinating and they both seem as if they are real. I absolutely cannot wait to read more in this series.
The Temptress Cyborg “The Temptress Cyborg” is the first book in the “Galactic Storm” series and is a good sci-fi tale with likable characters with a predictable attraction and a humorous storyline that flows well. This is an exciting series to get hooked on. I received a free copy of this book for an honest review
Vera was the Emperor’s Temptress and spy for everything needed in the Empire until the princess wanted her in her group to stop the current war with the Rhomodians. She was to protect the princess and the group from anything or anyone, now she has to rescue and safe them all from both sides!
Statham and Beta though enamies must work together to survive and complete the mission to protect the princess 's. Will they survive ?, Can they work together?, Can they trust each other ?, Or will they kill each other?. But the book to find out what happens.
Candice Gilmer has managed to blend sci-fi and romance in a way that is hard to put down. I was deeply involved in the story and it was hard to shift my reality back.
I enjoyed reading this book, the storyline is filled with action, adventure, intrigue and betrayal. I can't wait to read more from this author. I received this book as a Free copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
I am new to this author, but Ma. Gilmer tells exciting stories. I am hooked on this series. I just bought the other four. And I give this first one five shiny stars.
Fantastic story and characters with me wanting more. A different read from a fantastic author. Love all the wonderful writing Candice does. Her books have you hooked with any you read. ❤️ 📚 👍
I loved this book, it had more detail and depth to it than I had expected. It's a really good book if you want a quick science fiction romance, loved every minute I spent reading it.
This was an entertaining series opener and I really enjoyed how everything played out. Two warring peoples coming together in hopes of negotiating a peace but end up with betrayal, mystery, a ton of danger and action, and a fab chemistry that just sizzles off the pages ;) I liked both Veta and Wrathin. They were strong characters, believed in their causes and yet managed to work together for survival and ended up with a fab HEA. I'm looking forward to seeing who all has survived and if they'll be getting some 'Craving' action, too ;P
I love it. Veta, the bodyguard & one of the best spies he has, is told by the Emperor to protect the princesses on this peace mission. He gives her a gift, a new weapon. Too long to be a knife, too short to be a sword but it is well built. She wears it on her new mission. When they are almost ready to enter the Rhimodians star space, & almost fully dressed Caoimhe, the Imperial princess, dismisses the servant. She brings out a necklace that no one has seen before. She starts taking it apart & giving a piece to each of them. Veta a bracelet, Freya, her lady in waiting, a brooch. To Bianca, their nanny, apair of earrings. To her younger sister, Elanor, a necklace & to herself a necklace. She tells them they are coded to them, no one can wear the jewelry but them & to guard them with their lives. Bianca asks her is that what she did with the crown jewels? Cao tells them that to honor her mother she had her crown made into the jewelry so she could be with them. Veta thinks there might be more to it but Cao won't say at this time. When the ship is be escorted down to the planet by both Terran & Rhimodian ships the explosion on the side of their ship is very surprising for some of them anyway. Veta wasn't too sure it wouldn't fall through but the princesses had been certain the peace treaty was going to happen. Veta gets them all to the escape pods & tells them to try to get to a planet & near civilization if they can. When she is in her pod & away from the exploding ship, she sees Terran ships coming after her & firing at her. They are trying to shoot her down! She aims her pod for a planet to land & hears a radio calling from one called Wrathin. He is going to lock on to her pod to help her land. She knows how to land the thing! When they get on the ground she is out cold & he picks up several Terran soldiers coming their way. She is waking up hearing them saying something about killing her as ordered. Wrathin is already fighting one, when she steps in to fight & ask what they meant. It seems the Emperor has ordered this. Fine, she picks up the soldier's blaster & blows them all away. Wrathin looks at her & says you didn't have to do that. She says I think I did. They get what they need to take with them from the pod & some of the soldiers things. He leads her to some caves to camp out in. The is an eclipse going on that will last 3 days. It blocks communication, so they will not be able to contact anyone to see if the rest of the ambassadors survived. They get to know a little about each other during their time here. On one of the days here another Terran team tracked them to the caves & they come out to fight for their lives. She tries to figure how they keep finding them. Her new weapon, Wrathin scans it & finds it is more than just a weapon. They agree she can't get rid of it, he would know she was on to what they were doing. She is very frustrated to say the least, she has done very well for the Empire! This is how they repay her? They make their way to a village but it looks strange. They come down to investigate. They find the whole village executed. Then another Terran team attacks. As one of the older men has a hold of her, he starts telling Wrathin she is a whore for information. When she gets free of him & kills him she is ready to find out just what is going on. They find a ship that they can use. When it is ready to launch they settle in & she tells him the answers to his questions. She tells him she did what she needed to survive. Then they start looking for the princesses. It is great.
The Terran and Rhimodian people have been at war for decades, with no sign of peace in sight. Until the Emperor agrees to send his two daughters and Veta, one of his highly skilled spies and assassins, on a mission to attempt peace with the Rhimodians. However, the group is attacked after making contact with the Rhimodians and now the war has intensified. But what happens when the group was attacked by their own people, and the Rhimodians are the ones helping them?
Veta is a strong female lead who shows the power of what a woman can do. Wraithian is a Rhimodian who has been tasked with achieving peace with the Terran. However, when the Terran's ship is attacked he finds himself looking after Veta in every way she needs. The scenes are short, but are still steamy.
The plot is unique and very intriguing. The beginning was a little slow, but the pace picked up quickly and gave a interesting story that I couldn't put down.
