An Alliance asset is found brutally murdered. Classified chiral material has vanished. Shadow Recon pilot Micah Case is the only human in existence who is immune to the weapon the Akkadians have developed using the stolen samples.
Now, a member of the team has disappeared. Micah must find his missing teammate, track down the samples, and destroy the Akkadian laboratory before they unleash the deadly package. If they can't stop it in time, it's not the end of the world. It's the end of all life as we know it.
Includes Ambush in the Sargon Straits, a bonus novella from the Biogenesis Wars series.
L.L. Richman writes military science fiction grounded in real-world physics, informed by a background in radiation science and aviation and close ties to the special forces community.
Richman’s work blends small-unit military action with near-future science, delivering high-stakes missions shaped by technology rooted in hard science.
An improvement, but not a massive one Things get more complicated for the team, but especially for Micah & Jonathan Early bits of the book, suddenly become relevant in the later part, yet really have no relevance to the whole story, you'll see what I mean if I just say "fire fighting". I'm hoping book 3 ties up all the loose ends, of which there are many, if not it will be. A true disappointment
The Chiral Protocol, Book 2 of the Biogenesis War, picks up where the Chiral Agent left off. It continues the {} “techno thriller military science fiction story that revolves around the “handidness” of molecules. Life on Earth and throughout the universe except for one planet has molecules that are oriented one way in how they are construted with proteins with a left-handed twist. On one panet, however, proteiun molecules are constucted with a right-handed twist. Organisms that have molecules with a right handed twist can only get nourishment from foods with right handed twists and vice versa. Micah Chase was cloned from Jonathan Chase. They are identical except the orientation of protein moelcules in one are right-handed and in the other one they are left-handed. Micah and Jonathan’s are mirror images of each other. What they have in commmon with each other is a quantum matrix connection that enables them to stay in contact with each other telepathially no matter how far apart they are. The Akkadian Empire stole the science for the Chiral agent to turn it into a bioweapon. A team has been assembled arpund Micah Case-2.0 and Jonathan Case-1.0 to keep the Akkadians from weaponizing the Chiral agent. The team, which consists of agents who previouslly had been at odds with each other though they were all from the Geminate Alliance. It will take all of their combined skills and talents to stop the Akkadians. Yopu will find the action in this military science fiction story never stops and the characters become more fully developed and interesting. You will find yourself unable to put it down.
This next entry takes the story to a whole new level!! We see many different aspects in this volume..the character development continues as we add some new characters to a real believable plot oh and the plot has gotten so thick..lives are now on the line as we see Chirality begin to blossom. The world building is astonishing! Ms. Richman has the science down perfectly; it’s very extensive but is explained so a layman can understand. From a military perspective it’s got so much action and the small unit tactics are exactly the way they are truly used in a small real world unit, that I can attest to since it was my career once. Then there’s the spies, it seems as if their everywhere…Will our intrepid team succeed or will humanity fall..these and more questions you’ll ask as you read this phenomenal thriller. It is so reminiscent of the world we live in today it will shock you! If you want to stay on the edge of your seat pick this book up and keep reading!
Chiral Protocol starts by leaping into the fire, then enters a whirlwind when stellar politics and intrigue take over. The Biogenesis War includes bioweapons and all the devastation that entails. The story can be hard to follow as there are three theatres of action: the kidnapped scientist, the political summit, and a cruise ship. But each of far flung location is entangled with the others at a quantum level, needing to be resolved by our heroic Chiral pairing: Jonathan and Micah - plus a ferret and a large dark cat.
Where secrets meet, the microscopic spins everything around. This science-fiction techno thriller delivers on the science, the fiction, and the thriller.
Richman maintains the tension and characters remain interesting. As good, if not better, than the first one.
One minor quibble: When the ship docks with the outside of the ring station, centripetal "gravity" is towards the starboard side of the ship. The interior reconfigures to match, but Richman describes going through the hatch as if it's still on the side of the ship. To the people inside, it would have seemed overhead, and they should have been climbing through it, not "slipping" through.
But like I said, it's a minor one, and overall I enjoyed the book. I'll definitely be reading the third one.
Excellent science-fiction technothriller with plenty of twists and turns. Plenty of engaging characters and an excellent storyline. There’s plenty of hard science fiction along with the mystery aspects of the story. The second book was very engaging going on to read the last in the trilogy.
Just like the first book this one draws you in and has you trying to turn the pages faster. There is a preview of the next book at the end so you think there is more to go when you hit the end. The action switches back and forth between Sam, Jonathan and his clone Micah (or vice-versa I keep forgetting). Another good read.
chi·ral·i·ty. Noun The aspect of a structure or property, such that the configuration of a molecule, or the spin of a particle, will distinguish that structure or property from its mirror image/symmetrical opposite. Also referred to as Right/Left handedness.
What a wonderful Techno-Thriller! With plenty of hard Scifi thrown in, and some good old fashioned firefighting techniques to boot! Well... "old fashioned" if you can believe in Spaceships flying in atmo dropping a payload of fire retardant! I just Freaking well loved it! There's an evil Alien race (the Akkadians) who're at odds with humans, and more than willing to initiate a bio-weaponized genocide of the human race! It's up to the doppelgangers (the Chiral pairs of both human, and beast), the scientists, and the military to stop the war! We've got cats... Big Cats, with attitude... plus some Very enthusiastic ferrets that want to help by getting in your face (that's helping too, isn't it?!??). There's a mystery to work out, a pandemic to stop, and maybe, just maybe, an Akkadian who's willing to reach out and end the madness... So grab this marvelous book and see what the Wonderful Tom Taylorson (our narrator) and Sneaky Pete (the ferret) have to say! Oh yeah, LL Richman's writing is so beautiful and rich, that I bet you won't leave unscathed, I know that I actually cried at one point...
This book also has a bonus novella Ambush in the Sargon Straits!
