Love and Laughs #2

Love & Other Mistakes

Rate this book
An Opposites Attract Romantic Comedy

Hudson freaking Langley. My polar opposite.
Biggest flirt on the planet. Best man at my sister’s wedding.

Sleeping with him would be a huge mistake. Resisting him is suddenly a full-time job.

I try to keep him at arm’s length as we work together on all the pre-wedding festivities. But since he takes nothing seriously, I’m the one doing all the actual work while he tries mercilessly to seduce me.

Sure, he’s funny, sexy, and has a rear end you can bounce quarters off, but that’s irrelevant at this stage of my life. I’m ready for a family, and I already made the decision to take that journey on my own. All I need is a little self-control.

Until I saw another side of him that night at the engagement party. Next thing I knew it was goodbye control, hello consequences.

Was it the worst mistake of my life? Or did I accidentally find my happily ever after?

Love & Other Mistakes is a hilarious, opposites attract, steamy, romantic comedy. This story also includes horny horse rides, ginger burps, insane family game nights, a drunk grandma, nosy siblings, and sexy times. It’s a stand-alone novel with a happy ending, because cliffhangers will kill your margarita buzz.

Jackie brings you stories featuring her signature blend of comedy, spice, suspense, multi-faceted characters, and romantic, heartwarming moments. A voracious romance reader herself, Jackie writes stories featuring the four
Ss: Suspense, Swoons, Steam, and Sarcasm.

Her heroines are badass, and her heroes are easy on the eyes and heavy on the charm. She loves writing characters with real emotions, flaws, and mental health issues and is known to send them to therapy where they belong. Let’s normalize that shit.

When she is not writing stories about swoony heroes and the women who get to play with them, she is avoiding life with an audiobook in her ears or taking care of her army of cats and peacocks or hanging with her teenage son (who also speaks fluent sarcasm).

This is the second novel by this author. It is full of laugh out loud humor, a lot of snark, some serious heat, and a super heart melting HEA. Hudson and Chloe’s story is written in first person from a dual POV.
Chloe is a serious professional woman who is taking her dreams into her own hands at the age of 44. As the oldest Amos sibling, she has always been the responsible one looking after everyone and trying to fill in for their deceased parents. She is not looking for a relationship. She doesn’t even feel like she needs a relationship. Then Hudson comes into her world with a big smile, a world of flirt, and a body she wants to get to know a whole lot better. I love that through the story Chloe learns more about herself as she gets to know Hudson. I love her confidence in her own abilities. I love the relationships she has with her family members and the banter of the Amos family text exchanges. (Fun, real, and hilarious.)
Hudson is a hero unlike any I have ever read. He is undeniably masculine. At the same time, he exudes sunshine, joy, peace, and the desire to make the world a better place. His ability to seemingly not take things too seriously is in direct contrast to Chloe. He is an over-the-top flirt, without crossing into skeevy territory. I love how positive he is, how soft his heart is, and how fast and hard he falls for Chloe. I love how she is drawn to him like a moth to the light. I love how she learns to see him for who he truly is and accepts and cherishes him for it. He really is a joy to read.
The secondary characters continue to have an important role in this book, as in the first one. They are well-rounded and I look forward to reading each of the stories of the Amos siblings. I had trouble putting this book down to go to work and to go to sleep. The pacing was quite good. I loved the first book, and I can see the refinements to the author’s style in this second book. I predict that this author is going to be a favorite of many. Love and Other Mistakes is a standalone in an interconnected series of books. Though it can be read on its own, I recommend reading Love and Other Chaos to get her sister, Cara’s, story and to meet her nephew Miles for a richer experience.
I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an advance reader copy of the book.

Jackie delivers another hit with her sophomore novel! It's funny! It's sexy! It's dank! (trust me, that's a good one) Chloe and Hudson have mad chemistry even though she tries to fight it. He brings her out of her shell of seclusion, and she pushes him to be the best he can be. If you want sass, heart, humor, and feeling galore, this is the book for you! If you just want more of the Amos clan, this is also the book for you! This family wraps its arms around you and hugs you until you relent to their charm. Within pages, you'll want to be a part of this crew! I love Chloe and Hudson's relationship because it's just so natural and real. Steamy, romantic, mysterious, and even a little bit messy, but, hey, that's real life! I can't wait to see what happens in the next book because even though I haven't seen much of Cort and Amber's relationship, I know it's going to be some kind of wonderful!

ALL OF THE FEELS!

I had first read Love and Other Chaos. I really fell in love with the Amos family and friends. I love how close they are, so much love that they’d do anything for each other, and their quirky craziness.

I was so excited when this book happened and I was not disappointed! Jackie did it again! I was laugh crying 😂 and crying crying 😭 ! Hudson and Chloe so are perfect together and they definitely hit you hard in the feels! ❤️

Coming back for her sophomore novel, Jackie did it again. The characters were hilarious and personable, the text conversations were relatable, and I have decided I need to be Grandma Ellie when I grow up.

A stick in the mud oldest sister wants to have a baby before she is too old, and a lovable surfer dude with zero bothers come together in this comedy of *A LOT* of errors. Their chemistry is on point, but would that be enough to bring these two opposites together?

*spoiler*

They both have growing up to do, but once they realize that the other person really is theirs, you crave their HAE. 😍

This love is no mistake!

This is Jackie Walker's second book, but it feels like she's been writing professionally for years. We once again are following one of the Amos siblings. This time it's oldest sister Chloe's turn. The man she falls for is her brother in law's best friend, Hudson. Chloe and Hudson might be opposites, but you know what they say - opposites attract! Their story is full of lust, love, angst, and humor. Jackie Walker brings all the feels in this romance. What I love about Jackie's writing style most is that you think you know how these characters will get to their happily ever after, but you really don't! She throws twists in there that you cannot predict. She keeps you guessing until the last word.

When sequels live up to the first

If you love sarcastic and sassy heroine falling in love with a laid-back blonde beefy stoke of a man then this book is for you. We meet Chloe and Hudson in Love & Other Chaos. This book had me laughing out loud so many times. I love how we get to see how Hudson grows and isn’t what he outwardly portrays. We get to see Chloe loosen up probably soaking up some of Hudson’s laid-back stoke vibe. If you loved the first book you will immensely enjoy reading more about the Amos family. I can’t wait to read about Cort next!

I just finished reading about the journey of friendship of Chloe and Hudson. The story came alive from the first page until the end. This was a new author for me to discover and so happy I discovered her recently. Enjoyed that all of the side characters played a role in the story. Looking forward to reading more from Jackie in the future.

Well... Jackie did it again! I loved this book as much as I loved the first. Let it be known that I’ve never been into Romance novels but these books are so fun, flirty, witty with the perfect amount of sarcasm and drama to keep you on your toes. I can’t wait to see what’s next for the Amos Family!

This is the second book I've read from her, and wow! This book definitely is at par with the first book. Hudson and Chloe are my new favorite characters! The opening of the book and the characters' charm will have you hooked until the end. This is a book that is a must read and will leave you feeling great.

Trust me, you'll love it!

I'm extremely excited for the third book! Fingers crossed that it's Cort.

I LOVED revisiting the Amos family and reading Hudson and Chloe’s love story. It is an opposites attract romance with some other major twists and turns and I freaking loved it. Jackie’s writing style is hilarious and entertaining and I thought the storyline was fabulous. And that ending… perfect. I wanna be part of this family fun group!

Looking forward to the next one!

ARC review: Jackie's second book knocks it out of the park AGAIN. Hudson and Chloe's love story is heartfelt. Chloe wants a baby is decides to do it on her own with the help of modern medicine. Hudson is trying to live the good life away from his controlling father. A drunken night of fun after Cara and Brody's engagement party leads to Chloe not needing to be artificially inseminated with Hudson as her baby daddy. They are both trying to navigate growing feelings towards each other while Chloe grows a baby, Hudson refuses to join the family business, Cara and Brody get married, and the general chaos of the Amos family continues around them. This book includes the amazingness that is Miles, Britney Spurs the horny horse, a flower mystery, and a beautiful HEA. This book leaves you begging for the next in the series: more love, more family group texts, more drunken geriatrics, more Amos-holes and definitely more margaritas!

OMG. I loved this book. I laughed out loud shortly after I started reading it. Chloe in true Amos form showed her ability to deliver some of the best one liner, better than her sister in the last book a few times.

I will be honest. I wasn’t sure I was going to like Hudson and his surfer dude attitude. He grew on me rather quickly, though, and I started seeing him for who he really was. Just like Chloe, when he showed his true colors, I started to fall hard.

This was a great second book of a series I can’t wait to read more of. I you like to laugh a lot then I highly recommend this book.

Love and other mistake is the second book in an interconnected series...you can definitelybread it as a stand alone. It is filled with humour and endless banter between the love interest and main character while they are indeed opposite with the MC being an independent and stromg willed woman who does not desire a relationship..and the love interest is quote the flirt and interractions between the two would mostly leave you in a fit of laughter for sure...throughout thw story the tension grows and the suspense would leave you at the edge of your seat...they had a great journey and a happy ending❤👌...and of course the 🌶 was nice😌

"I don’t think I’ve ever wanted anyone as much as I wanted you and it scared the shit out of me. It made me want things.”

I really enjoyed this book! I liked it way better than the first book and I think that the author has definitely gotten better in her writing so yay her! Hudson has been flirting with Chloe for ages. She always rolls her eyes and can’t stand him, but secretly wants him. Chloe will do anything to become a mom. As her biological clock is ticking out she decides to get artificially inseminated and try her luck getting a kid that way since she has sworn off men. When at the engagement party for her sister and Hudson‘s best friend, she gets a little tipsy and sleeps with Hudson. When she goes for her appointment at the doctors office, they tell her there’s no need to try to get pregnant because she already is! I loved reading how Hudson would not stop trying to get a chance with Chloe. This man is such a freaking romantic! Have you read a romance book featuring the hero who has a blog for romance books? So hot! I really like reading how Hudson tries to show Chloe his true self and not just the cover that he tries to portray to everyone. I like that this romance had characters with more of a deeper connection. There’s also a little bit of character development which I liked. The ending was really sweet and I cannot wait for Chloe‘s brother and Hudson’s sister’s book coming up next!

Jackie does it again with her outstanding writing. In this gripping friends to lovers sweet romance.

Chloe is the oldest daughter of the Amos family. She has always wanted to be a mother but during her marriage she could not get pregnant which in turn caused problems in her marriage. Her husband ended up cheating on her with her best friend. After leaving him she has decided that motherhood will happen through IVF. Chloe is also in charge of all her sister's parties for her wedding. What could possibly go wrong? Well the one man who is her complete opposite and that she has the hots for is helping her, Hudson. Can could possibly go wrong being so one to Hudson? Will her secret have him running the opposite way?

Hudson is Chloe's sister's fiance best friend and he is helping with the parties for the wedding. He has always been attracted to Chloe but he is also seen as the party boy. Does he try and get Chloe to see he is worth the risk? Will his family and his secret help or hurt the relationship he is trying to have with Chloe?

Jackie does a great job of having you snicker at the banter and sexual tension between Hudson and Chloe. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story. Jackie is a wonderful writer who knows how to grab your attention right from the start.

2.75-3 star reverse grumpy/sunshine

I’m on the fence about the rating to give this book. I didn’t hate it, but I certainly didn’t love it.
This is my first book by this author so I can’t say for sure if all of her books are this way, but this book was way to wordy. It took me nearly two weeks to finish this one and that’s really unusual for me.
I was determined not to give up though.
There is a lot of internal dialogue and a lot of useless back and forth texting. It felt like it was just put in for added length to make the book longer.
As far as characters go I really only liked the main man Hudson. He was a really sweet hero, you don’t see many of those in books and I really liked him.
My issues with this book really lie with the execution of the story. I wish I would have read spoilers to see how long it really takes the couple to get their crap together. Once that happens at like 85% the rest of the book feels rushed.

I really wish I liked it more, because it was the exact trope I was looking for. Reverse grumpy sunshine, if you are looking for this trope give it a try and see what you think.

I really wanted o rate this book higher… honestly it was a good read and made me laugh and even tear up a little..::

BUT…. And I hate to do this, there were sooooooo many typos and mistakes often sentences missing words or current words didn’t make sense, that for several chapters it was just a hard read to decipher what was supposed to be said or whatnot.

And it’s really not fair to rate a book like that, but when the first one was so good and you’re really in to the story and it just gets complicated for no reason… sorry. It was frustrating.

But on to the review…. The book was good. I really liked the story and it was a good twist to have the billionaire CEO be a total cliche surfer dude, super funny and playful.

I really think Hudson is just the sweetest golden retriever boyfriend ever.

It was fun to see Chloe grow and soften up. And being an ice princess over enemies to lovers is a nice change on a popular trope. Good read and nice to see the story / stories from the past carry on!

I. Love. Hudson!!! I was smitten with him in the first book, but daymmmnnn I was not prepared for how much I'd fall for this man! On the surface, he seems like just some hipster surfer dude with no ambition and a carefree attitude, but there's so much more to him.

This opposites attract RomCom is just so perfectly balanced! It's not a hate to love, but there's still plenty of banter between chill Hudson and uptight Chloe.

Every step of this book, you see Chloe fighting her attraction to a man she doesn't think has enough substance, and she's sooooo wrong! As she dives deeper she realized she's made so many missteps and when sh!t hits the fan, it all blows back on her.

Jackie Walker has this very relatable voice that you can't help but instantly connect with! The amazing Amos family and their meddling kicks up a notch, and who doesn't love big family group texts riddled with gifs?!? And by the end of this book you're sooo hungry for the next it was torture waiting for it!

Chloe and Hudson are a perfect opposites attract

What a great read! I lost so much sleep since I repeatedly had to read “just one more chapter”! I love the Amos family and everyone that gets added they their family. Chloe is an uptight control freak and Hudson is a laid back surfer dude (or so they seem!) yet they compliment each other so well. The ups and downs and eventual hea are very well done. The relationships and characters are so well developed that I feel like I actually know them.

This is apparently the second in the series but it stands alone. I’ll be sure to read Cara and Brody (book 1) and Amber and Cort (Book 3) and probably whatever else Jackie Walker writes!

....

My polar opposite, biggest Flirt on the planet & now hes best man at my sisters wedding.
How do I resist the continuous flirting because giving in is a HUGE mistake! Or is it 😉

Addicted to the Amos clan & Hudson was my favourite from the first book. Reading his own story has only strengthened that.
He finally broke threw the ice queen exterior.

This book gives such a warm fuzzy feeling.
Finally the big sister who sacrificed everything to look after her family, has found her protector, her bliss, her safe person!

Straight-laced, business-minded Chloe decides if she is ever going to be a mother, and it will have to be done by IVF as she has no perspective baby daddies in her sights. Then she met Hudson, a party animal and handsome hunk. He outrageously flirts with her at every opportunity, but she gives him the cold shoulder. Then, after the engagement party for her sister and his friend, she decides to drunkenly give in to her carnal desires. Whar comes next is as sexy, funny, and dramatic as the other books in this series.

I loved reading Hudson and Chloe's story

Hudson's heart is so big, and it made me happy to read about how he wore down the former reigning ice queen, Chloe. He snuck under her defenses and shattered those icy walls with the full blast of his charm, smolder, and his adorable happiness.
I'm loving this series by Jackie Walker, and I can't wait to read about the rest of the Amos siblings.

Hudson and Chloe's story was so sweet! Hilarious, a tad spicey and a little mystery in there; all swirled in with all the little plot twists. The same amazing and funny characters from the first book work to tell a sweet love story. Again, do NOT read this without taking the proper precautions while eating or drinking. I loved Hudson in the first book but he was more than amazing in his own. Chloe was sort of quiet but she came into her awesome self in this. I totally recommend this read!

What a twist on typical romance. This time the guy was all sunshiny and the heroine not so much. I loved it. Although, there are times I really wanted to strangle the heroine. *huffs air* It was fun and light-hearted for the most part and completely charming. I look forward to the next installment of this crazy family.

Jackie Walker delivers a heartwarming story of Houston and Chloe in her second book. I can’t help but be emotionally invested in the two characters. Plus, the book allowed me to renew my love for the Amos family. I strongly recommend this book as a perfect weekend read or a stress-reliever after a hard day at work. A job well-done! I can’t wait for the third book.

And baby makes three~

This is a very cute, loving story and an easy read. He's the carefree surfer dude and she's the older, serious head of the family since they lost their parents. Every woman needs a Hudson in their lives to provide light, laughter, loads of orgasms, and lots of money.
