pretty meh book. writing quality is bad, dude hates bodycams and the 4th amendment, refers to women as "females", and he doesn't trust his reader at all (will constantly tell you the same thing over and over again as if you don't remember from the 2 paragraphs before). Only added an extra star because now he works w/ humane society and focuses on animal cruelty, and some of the stories were at least interesting.

Also interesting how he made absolutely no mention of real instances of police brutality, yet has like a whole page/basically a whole chapter telling the reader that "cops never want to shoot people". don't even want to call out the "bad apples" lol?? ALSO the chapter talking about firemen where he opens like "wahhhhh firemen get all the bitches and i get noneeee cuz nobody likes copsssssss" cringe

Sorry I just can’t look past the glaring misogynistic descriptions and jokes made every time a woman is referenced here? Talking about a nude woman in a mental health crisis that’s high on drugs and making a joke along the lines of “I didn’t look at her breasts, at least not for too long” is just tasteless and honestly horrifying in the context of it being written by man that’s supposed to be protecting her. I feel like a lot of people will just pass the comments in this book off as “dad jokes” or something but it’s gross to me

So this was an easy read, I was excited to read the reality of a Policeman role compared to movies TV
I watch lots of crime TV and I’m an avid reader of true crime and crime trillers.
This was very tame and a little disappointing for me, there was nothing new, storeys where quick reminiscent of things that he came across in his career. There where no big police spoilers for me when you watch and read as must crime stuff as me.
For a newbie reading crime they may quite enjoy.
But for avid crime reader and watcher I found little boring. No disrespect to writer I loved his writing style telling storey but they where quick read and ended and I’d nothing to grab me as a page turner guessing what next, who did it, what would I do.

It was over 10 years (I was new to omaha) since I read the original Busting Bad Guys in which I gave it a low rating. Now reading the second book, I appreciated it more and enjoyed the stories. The true stories give you insight to what police forces do on a regular basis. Although it may appear to be a persons worse day, its could be the day that changes there life path for the better. If you like true crime, this is the book for you. Thanks to the men and women in uniform who out their lives on the line to make the world a safer place.

Excellent read

A whole hodgepodge of stories, about what the author experienced while a police officer in Nebraska. Some were sad, some were of redemption, and toward the end, stories about his second career. With the Humane Society. As a animal rescuer, working with trap, spay and return, I skipped those. Oh, when you mentioned Joe Montana and Dwight Clark, I went to high school with Dwight. In Charlotte NC. He is now deceased.

I liked the book, the stories of Nikko Jenkins and his victims was good, as were the stories of capital punishment. I enjoyed the first book more, as they were actual cases Langan solved, and thought this would be the same.
