I really have been enjoying this series and this book finally gave me a little more magic along with the mystery! I was a bit frustrated with some of the main character's choices once again, but I've gotten used to that with these stories :). I am a bit let down though because I went to download book 5 and it seems to have disappeared from everywhere... When I finished this book there was a link (from 2021) to "preorder" the book... which went to a page not found screen... and then on Sophie Love's site this is listed as a 5 book series, but no 5th book shows up. What's up with that? On to the next series instead, I suppose.

I’m glad we got more answers about Lex’s father (and had more of Eli Sanderson!), but I’m sad the series has ended without tying up all the loose ends.

I’m just annoyed it took this long to finally dive in to the possibility of magic 🙄

what a wonderful read… This is the fourth in the “witching place” series. I’m loving it… Alexis Blair who’s moved to the town of in Canton? Massachusetts has been working for “A Curious Bopokstore” for quite some time now as a sales clerk. As you know, if you’ve read any of the earlier books, she really has two passions in mind. Number one, she wants to open her own used bookstore. Number two, she wants to find her father who left her and her mother many years ago.
In this installment, if I may call it that, Alexis is at work when a very dapper gentleman shows up in the store and sells them or offers to sell them a somewhat desirable book. Seeing it, the owner Montgomery, offers to buy the book for $75,000. Alexa is taken aback. Why should a book be that valuable?
We find out much more about the book as we read through this book. Let me say that there is murder involved, there is perhaps a coven involved, and perhaps a newly developing friendship.
So worth the Read…Now I’ve got to go out and find if there is a fifth installment.

The Witching Place: A Vanished Volume (A Curious Bookstore Cozy Mystery — Book 4)— Sophie Love/Narrator: Katie Silverstone (32 chapters) December 2, 2023

Montgomery buys an extremely rare book that is later found me stolen, but he has sold the book before then. Alexis is exposed to more witch-making ceremonies and though she says she still doesn’t believe, ends up relying on the book to do a good deed. Meanwhile, she goes out of town illegally to look at the rare book in its present location, only to find it isn’t the original. In the end, despite her not believing, she does a good deed and makes her question everything she thinks she knows. Does she believe now?

Enjoyable Read

I have read all the books in the series so far and the storyline is building to the point where Lexi will find out what happened to her father and accept her fate.
The combination of magic, sleuthing and romance works so well - looking forward to the reelease of book five.

It’s About Time!

This book was the best one of all so far out of the series! Of course, I cannot wait to read book 5 now. In this one, Lex wasn’t as frustrating as she had been in the other ones, and everything seems to be coming together now.

enchanting, mesmerizing

The heroine is a believable no-nonsense practical logical girl who begins to believe in herself and things that are outside her own experience. She is creating her own future, not the one that is planned by anyone else or that she happens to fall into.

This is better than the last one. The writing is a little repetitive as far as Alexis goes. She seems to justify her actions with the same phrases. She makes horrible decisions and continues to end up in the same situations over and over again. There are still way to many unanswered questions.

This series is going very slow. Reveal is not following a good phase. I will read the next installment. But if it is not going to pick up pace , I might stop

I enjoyed the other books in this series, but this one wasn't as good and it wasn't a satisfying progression or resolutionof any of the story lines. I previously enjoyed just hanging with the quirky characters in the cozy curious bookstore or whatever, but they started to fall flat for me and I didn't find much charm in that.

Two factors that may have affected my perception which are not this book's fault:
1) They changed the audiobook reader to one who constantly breaks my immersion with out of place accents.
2) It appears to be the final book and I've been waiting for Lex to discover what happened to her father or take up a superstition since book one, but it's just endless stalling like the writer got ordered not to let the character make any progress. If it isn't the final book -I guess- maybe they have a plan, but I doubt it.
