Was it a good story? Yes. I've enjoyed this series quite a bit.

The main reason for the 3*s is that nothing seems to be moving forward. We're seeing things happen with Thorn and his journey as the "chosen one", but one of the coolest things in the first book was that he ended up triggering the beginning of the main quest in the story. We haven't heard anything about that whatsoever.

That was the big hook that really dragged me into the series and set it apart from the rest of the offerings in the genre.

Really hoping we get back to that soon.

I could've done without the combat/military breakdown into the minute details. Even visual fight scenes aren't this detailed.

Oh brother! No, no, no!

This is book six in this series and I see it as a failure. Its not just me, the story has petered out and it amounted to what I consider almost excruciating reading. All I can say, is that the author must have been deep into the sauce by the time he reach halfway into book 6. Just too far south of believable. I can take the crazy stuff if it's served a little at a time and with a side of fun, but by the time I reached the last third of the book, I actually couldn't finish it it was that bad. This was simply over the limit.

Unfortunately, most of his book is rather hum drum with drawn out battles, which border on "....and then, and then, and then." First time in some time that I actually skipped whole sections because it was just bordering on too many crazy over the top drawn out slashing battles, and then some more just in case the reader didn't get it. I definitely could have done with much less.

All of this is a shame, because the 5 books of this series up to now, were inventive and lots of fun to read. The story always flowed well, one book moved smoothly into the next, until now. They reminded me of the early RPG's (roll playing games) with the customary tough bosses. I have thoroughly enjoyed most of the story until now and I wish he had stopped while it was still fun. If you play online games, as I have since they first appeared on the Internet, then much of the whole story falls well within the acceptable, but book six is what I consider a failure. It's upsetting. I hate unfinished stories, but I hate it even more when the story has its life artificially extended.

I think that the story has reached its conclusion, it's time to say: "..and they lived happily ever after..."
Also the editing is not up to par in book six, the care wasn't there anymore. Yes it was noticable actually, that less and less care was taken to present us with a cleanly edited book. There was that feeling here that the books were rushed to get published. All too often I had to re-read whole sections and sentences to make sense of what it said. And that - Mr. Seth Ring - is not acceptable ever, be it book one or book nineteen. Always please the reader over the publisher and the almighty dollar! Take it to heart. I have been reading for the past eighty years and that rule has never changed. Besides WE are that almighty dollar.

So all totalled up book six equals zero. I am so disappointed I'm not sure I want to continue into the next book.

Book six

Mistakes: While I think that this is one of the best series out there, making The Land look like a kiddy book, I did find a few mistakes in this book.

Plot: Dealing with the Orc invasion. There also might just be a dragon involved.

Characters: Thorn is probably the most interesting character I've come across.

So this is more of a two point five, but I'm going to round up.

This has become cut and paste. It is the same thing over and over. The overall direction requires a forced story event, one after another, which takes away any sense of freedom or choice from the book. It becomes one big plotline railroaded forward, who would care to read any details about that.

Seth Ring follows up from Liberator right into book6 Earthshaper, where Thorn and his army of professional players are ready to attack and stop the invasion of Orc's before it's to late. Thorn has'ta revisit his fight with the Orc Shaman, Arhtu the Cursed! He also needs to catch-up with Alph the Alchemist, and the Elven Queen Rychell. Before his plan can come to fruition. Plus there might be a fight with a Dragon, yeah a frikkin Dragon!
So grab the book to find out what happens next.

“Greetings, Duke Carlton. Permission to twist his head off?” Thorn’s heavy voice rumbled around the tent, casting it into shocked silence that was only broken when Thorn’s other hand landed on Brigadier General Rivera’s head. Realizing that Thorn was entirely serious, Duke Carlton’s eyes twitched slightly, his face taking on a deep frown as he shook his head. “Permission denied, Earl Greymane. Stand back.”

3.5 I gave the last book (or two) a pass on this, but holy crap, multi-chapter (inconclusive) fight scenes.

One of the things I liked best about book one was the quick and nasty fights. In real life fights to the death are over pretty quickly, and yes, I will make allowances for fiction in general and game mechanics in particular. That said, with the non-specific system this "game" has, it's not like you're burning down someone's HP bar.

Thorn repeatedly is on death's door from some injury or another, only saved by multiple healing friends. Anything significant that he fights will shrug off almost anything (including getting their head cut off, in one instance) to drag particular fights out to an absolutely glazing degree.

Story remains good and the characters are developing, so I'm not giving up yet, but when books get to the point where I'm skimming half or more of it, I start wondering if I have better uses for my time.

One of the remarkable achievements of the series so far is that it has not jumped the shark six volumes in, despite the main character becoming more and more overpowered and gifted magically, which usually makes narratives hard to sustain. In many LitRPG series, describing the upgrades in skills, abilities, spells, and so on takes more and more space at the expense of plot. Whole chapters are often just the character's thought process of what to choose (which I find easily skippable in most books) or the system becomes so convoluted or one-sided that the action becomes hard to follow or hard to care about. But here, after six volumes, the main character Thorn is still striving to remain caring, good, and engaged and meeting opponents that are stronger than he is. His relational bonds are growing stronger and more interesting. In other words, I still care, which is quite an achievement at this point. So congratulations to Seth Ring.

I thought the first ten chapters of this book were really good. There is a blip with the first big fight, first Thorn stands around watching a situation develop which he could have ‘Squashed’ before it became a big problem, then there is the inane banter that seems to always happen. The actual fight still has the usual problem of the author taking liberties with timings and abilities, but it was OK.
Just over half way through the story takes a twist, which wasn’t convincing, but I will reserve judgement until I see where the ‘nanobots’ being part of the virtual world is going, but I’m not hopeful.
Unfortunately the big fight at the end was even more ridiculous than usual.

After the first half of the book I almost inclined to give five stars, but by the end I was struggling to give three.

This book has some ups and downs but overall i REALLY enjoyed this. The downs were; there was an overabundance of fights and while i liked them because the author would show multiple perspectives in the same fight it felt like they dragged on forever, there was a stretch from about 55% in to about 65% that was just really boring and a slog to get through. The ups were; the story as a whole and the pregress made, Thorn, Mina, Athena, Corvo and the rest of the gang were great, the forshadowing of the future was awesome and made me very excited to see what will happen in the future, the ending was HYPE AF.
Overall i loved this book and it is probably my favorite of the series so far but the few complaints that i have do lower the overall enjoyment for me. 8/10

Enthralled, that’s the word for how hooked I am.

I’m really enjoying watching Thorn grow more mature as a gamer and person. As Thorn’s power grows, so do his responsibilities in an interesting twist his increased fame has helped grow his guild, Nova Luna, to astronomical numbers!
His friends are starting to figure out one of his secret, he treats this world as real as the world outside and the natives feel it. They treat him differently than other travelers, warming up to him and offering more information. But as they are all drawn into saving the elves from the orcs, Nova Luna will need to bury their enmity with Ragnarok and cooperate or the elves may lose their last free city.

Thorn continues to grow

Alternate universe, LitRPG, immersive gaming, hero's journey

It's obvious that several ladies have cast their hopes toward the romantically naive Thorn, but he's too busy and too young to notice. Sadly, this novel is less polished, though earlier books are a second edition, so hopefully the trend to clean up most of the many errors will eventually be resolved. Average editing.

One biggie was a progression error. At one point, Thorn has 40% mastery of his earth heart, but then the next time it's listed, it's down to 36% with no explanation. Does super AI Eve have a memory error? Obviously, this escaped the author, his beta readers, and his editor. Still interested in finishing the remaining four novels.

Action heats up!!

Stakes are higher in the 6th book of Nova Terra and I love it. Action is fast paced as ever and more of interesting lore around Nova Terra is brought to light. We learn about an overarching threat likely the big bad for this whole series and surprisingly many stakeholders including Athena are already aware of the end goal. Arhatu is surprisingly the 1st villain worth taking seriously and is seriously persistent when compared to the cookie cutter standard punching bags we have seen till now.

Battles upon battles.

This book takes up immediately from the previous book with a huge war between armies of the north and south, along with several skirmishes and battles that focus on the main character and friends - all while the larger war raged on. And of course it ends with an epic battle and a field littered with corpses.

There are several more books in this series. I can’t imagine how big - size and impact x the situations are going to get. The story is already hunting that Thor. Will be a linchpin in a worldwide cataclysm.

The orc invasion resolved

Thorn's adventures against the orc army concludes in a rather spectacular fashion. There are a great many hints at things to come, and I'm still excited to see where the series goes. I thoroughly enjoyed this entry, and was pleasantly surprised to see some of the development Thorn goes through. This was a battle heavy romp worth sinking teeth into. I can't wait for more.

Great Read!

Once again Seth Ring has delivered another great story while building on the content of the main characters. Even the support characters are memorable which is rare for me to find in most LitRPG novels. If you've come this far In the series you already know that The author is masterful in integrating different characters seamlessly into the overall plot of each story. It's another good one so enjoy the ride!

A Greater Challenge Than He Has Ever Faced Before.

Thorn works to increase the mastery of his abilities; which he will need to face a challenge greater than any player of Nova Terra has ever encountered.

This is a LitRPG series for readers who don't care for the statistic blocks which punctuate most examples of the genre as the statistics are hidden from the characters and, thus from the readers as well.

Book 6 of Nova Terra:Titan. As you guessed it, this one has much more earthshaping in it. However, as the previous books have been building to, we have the giant battle. I won’t say which but one of the titles used in later books is acquired in this one. There are a number of things I am still waiting on, but loving the series and recommended it to my own son. Excited for book 7. Highly recommend.

Another wonderful addition

This is another wonderful addition to the series of Nova Terra. It’s good to see this part of the story wrap up but I feel like it just added a bunch of more questions for me. Seth really know how to keep his readers hooked. Keep up the awesome work and can’t wait for the next one.

Best book yet!

This series continues to deliver, managing to make a successful transition from an OP MC to one who has to struggle and fight forever inch in this book!

I enjoyed the political intrigue in this book and I eagerly await the next book to see which plots are completed!

Another blockbuster of action and mayhem.

Another blockbuster of action and mayhem. Thorn continues to grow and find answers to the mysteries in the game and outside as his body continues to repair. Then you finish and you once again realize that you will have to wait for more. Argh.

Can’t stop

This book was plenty long for the series and includes lots of plot development, foreshadowing and action. Some of the details are glossed over towards the end and there are some minor editing errors, but nothing most people will even notice without looking. I definitely couldn’t put it down.

Gripping adventures

Thorn, the loveable young Titan with such a tragic start in his real life, grows in skill, wisdom and amazingly stature in this book. As he and his growing group of friends take on the Fearsome Orcs, we see both amazing feats of heroism and hilarious mistakes plus some intriguing hints at the world beyond. Can't wait for book 7.

First real criticism of MC in terms of his personal development in this book. He should've been more proactive about development and learning to use his magic abilities, as given his abilities they could be an epic force multiplier. After all, to use his full strength he needs leverage. His magic is amazingly flexible, but he needs to learn to use it.

Action-packed adventure

The other booked in the series have had a solid amount of action, but Ring really kicked things up a notch when this book. It seemed like things ramped up quickly from the first page and did not slow until the very least few pages. Definitely continuing to enjoy Thorn's growth and development. Can't wait to read the next book!

Exciting

This has some tense moments as Thorn/Xavier comes into his powers a bit too quickly. He really doesn't get a chance to rest much. I'm starting to think the suspicions I hold from the previous book might become accurate. I don't recall finding out how old Velin and Mins are, so some of the teasing seems morally ambiguous. Good read.

Large and in charge

Well, this book sure took things to the next level. I'll be curious to see how Seth keeps things going without spiraling out of control. He already took one major at the end of the book ;).

Thanks and I look forward to three next one.
