Beleszeretni valakibe egyszerű.

Kiszeretni pedig a legnehezebb dolog a világon.

És Elin és Tyler Whittnek borzasztóan nem megy.

Abban a pillanatban, ahogy a helyi kosárlabda sztár Elinre mosolygott, megpecsételődött a sorsa.

5.0 "EMOTIONAL AND REALISTIC" STARS!!!

“Bruises go away. Scars stick around to prove you showed up for life. That you lived. That you fought. That you loved.”

I have been reading this book several times and even up until now, I'm still a mess. The first time I keep my hands on it, I dropped everything and stayed up in the wee hours not caring I have to sleep and wake up for work. It didn't even matter that I stayed all night sobbing and will eventually get to have a puffy and red eyes the next morning. It didn't even matter that I was so emotionally drained but still managed to read it again. What's important is, I get to live in the moment. My first thoughts when I finish reading Written In The Scars??? It's a beautifully written, highly emotional, addictive, engrossing and realistic masterpiece of Adriana Locke to date!

Indeed it is! I have been a reader quite a while and I had my fair share of romance and real feels of the story but this one right here is just so different that I did not have a difficulty of connecting with the characters but even with the story as well. The character portrayal and the delivery was exemplary. The realness of the story is legit and the feeling is deeply moving. I was struck directly at the center of my heart. Honestly, this book feels so very close to home. So I really understand the crisis this couple experienced. And when I read this line,

He was talking about love, naturally, and how we should use every experience in our life to build love and how that’s a test in this world. How can you take your darkest moments and find a way to love more?

I, too question my own self, like seriously, How?? It's so hard to answer this question and even harder to find love more during our darkest and lowest moments. Oftentimes, relationships were destroyed because of the weight of those lowest moment in our lives, and this was what happened with Ty and Elin. That moment when everything seems to be so good. That moment when you think you have it all planned and figured out only to find out that really life is never what it seems to be. More often than not, it's those unexpected curve balls that will determine how strong your love can be and how are you going to do in your power to fight for your marriage, to fight for love and to continue it to succeed. In their case, up to what extent are they willing to go and fight for it? It's true that The foundation of a marriage is love. The walls of a shared life are built with trust, loyalty, and respect. Once those are torn down, there’s nothing left standing. But admit it, it's even more truer that, It’s making life work around the love that’s hard. Life doesn’t care about feelings. It couldn’t give a shit about who you love and want to be with. It keeps tossing crap your way, trying to break you until all you know is the chaos of it all.

But the good thing is, with the right people around you all this is not hard at all.For Ty an Elin, they have with them their family and friends that understand, loved and helped them clear their minds and helped them to realize what is worth fighting for. And these right here is one of the reasons why I love Adriana Locke, in as much as I love the lead characters, she has this way of making you love the secondary one's just as much. And in her true fashion, she left me SPEECHLESS, Oh, I was looking forward to her "fruit signature" but instead, she gave me more than that. Everything she writes with this book is so unexpected. Nothing prepared me for the realness the story brings. I swooned, laugh and cried tears of sadness and joy. She just not portrayed what love is all about in the real aspect but what life is all about.

Indeed,

Some of those things might hurt. Life does pack a punch. But it’s the scars that make us who we are, that tell the story of the life we lived.

5 (I wish Goodreads had more) STARS!

There are books that make you want to dream.
There are books that rouse hope.
There are books that make you all giddy and dream of the same kind of love.
There are books that turn you on.
And then there’s Written in the Scars by Adriana Locke.
A book that makes you want to LIVE.

Loving her is so damn easy. It’s as natural as breathing or the beating of a heart.

Elin Whitt knew enough about fairytales to realize that her current situation wasn’t a happily-ever-after. For one, her prince left her instead of rescuing her. The evil queen seemed to have disguised itself as pain, loneliness and sorrow. There weren’t fire-breathing dragons but something was definitely burning inside her. This is something I relish on every Adriana Locke book. The realness of her heroines; the spunk, the gut, and the imperfections. No pretensions, no dreamy imaginations. Elin wasn’t someone you wish you were, Elin might even be you. And that realness, rawness of her character made the transfer of emotions so easy, as if there wasn’t any boundary between the reader and the character.

"Scars stick around to prove you showed up for life. That you lived. That you fought. That you loved.”

Ty Whitt needed to save his wife, his marriage, and most importantly, himself. He knew the kind of person he was becoming and he needed to rid the love of his life with the impending poison caused by the self-loathing brewing inside of him. Leaving was the option he took. If only she knew it hurt him as much as it hurt her. Ty wasn’t a character built to tempt our fantasies, a form of perfection we can only find in myths. He was a man powered by love, integrity, and valor. He wasn’t just a face of a man but a man who’s faced the worst and came out stronger and more determined. That’s what made Ty’s character so dreamy; his realness, his scars, and his experiences.

“If you take you away from me, you take everything."

There is no doubt about the romance aspect of this book. The sweet and the sexy scenes have kept me on my toes and filled my heart with the romance it needs. But seriously, Written in the Scars is not just a romance. This book was more than just a love story. It’s a life story about how real love could break and heal people. I cried from the first few pages until the end and up until now, my chest hurts. Not because it was a sad story. It’s because the message of the book hit home. Reading this hurt to the extent where my heart was going to explode and then it simmers down into steady beats reminding me of how life has so many BS but as long as that pulse is beating, you keep living. I am so attached to this book’s characters now. Every word and every page clawed deep and I’m holding on to what it taught me for a very long time.

This isn’t a book that will bring you up on the clouds.
It will put your feet on the ground and let you see what reality is.
This book won’t give you a fantasy world you’ll dream about.
It will show you that sometimes you can have your fantasies within your reality.
This book won’t push you to find an admirable, courageous man/woman.
It will inspire you to become that admirable, courageous man/woman.
Lastly, and most importantly, this book will make you want to hug every person you love and thank God for your life.
This wasn’t a book that you’re likely to forget.
Written in the Scars is now written in my heart.
Bravo, Adriana Locke.

** ARC PROVIDED BY THE AUTHOR FOR AN HONEST REVIEW **

You will be swept away by this emotional story of love, self discovery and redemption.

With each paragraph you read, the words will seep into your soul. Adriana Locke wrote such a phenomenal novel with real relatable characters who are perfect as they are flawed and a heartbreakingly beautiful plot. Love is not always easy, nor is it perfect. It will wear you down, tear you apart and restore your soul. How you navigate through the mine field of this devastingly beautiful emotion is what will ultimately define you. That is what this couple must come to realize and experience.

Ty & Elin were High School sweethearts and this is their emotional story of love. Married, Ty and Elin face challenges in their marriage. Challenges that might either destroy them or make them stronger.

When everything crumples around them and their marriage in shreds, this couple must figure out how to survive. Will they succumb and give up or fight? Will love truly be enough to restore something that has been broken?

Friends, family .. they show us how important a support system really is. This is a story that you as the must read for yourself to savor, to let the meaning behind the words seep into your soul. You will end up reflecting on your own lives and in turn learn valuable lessons.

There aren't enough words for me to be able give this poignant novel any justice. All I can say it is a absolute must read. One that will probably forever stay with you.

“Bruises go away. Scars stick around to prove you showed up for life. That you lived. That you fought. That you loved.”

Talk about a book coming out and hitting you right in the feels… This book had me tearing up from the start and bawling like a baby by the end. And it felt so good! I love a good cry when I’m reading, especially if the ending is satisfying to me. Written in the Scars is an emotional read about a married couple fighting for their love. As the blurb says, Falling in love is easy. Falling out of love is the hardest thing in the world. Thats what makes things so complicated for Ty and Elin. No matter what their relationship goes through, they can never quite manage to fall out of love with each other.

Ty and Elin are high school sweethearts who got together young, stayed together, got married, and essentially grew up together. They’re happy and in love, but things happen that are totally out of their control. It puts a wedge between them. Their relationship was so relatable to me. I think that is part of the reason their story hit me so hard. I could easily put myself in Elin’s shoes in a lot of ways. Her inner thoughts, especially this scene… it gutted me.

I went into this story blind (I didn’t even know it was about a married couple LOL) so I’m not going to talk details here. I think it got me on a much deeper level because I had no clue what was going to happen. I will say that I loved both Tyler and Elin and their friends were amazing secondary characters. There was one especially that touched my heart.

Adriana Locke did an amazing job with this highly emotional, beautiful and gripping read. It gave me all the feels, and out of the few books of hers I’ve read, this one is in another league! If you’re looking for a read that has tons of heart, emotion, steam and just an all around stunning story, this is one I highly recommend!
“Maybe that's what love is, something so beautiful and perfect that you can only feel it.”

"I'm yours, E. You're mine. We are two people that get it right most of the time, but, on occasion, we fuck up."

➦Those words from the quote... I can't get over how true they are. Let's face it, marriages are hard work and they aren't perfect. It can be really really good, until someone fucks up royally and then it suddenly is bad. How much does it take then to fix the broken trust? We have our love but often life just gets in the way.
"Loving her is so damn easy. It's as natural as breathing or the beating of a heart. It's making life work around the love that's hard."

➦This is a story of Ty and Elin, two married people who drift apart due to some unfortunate life circumstances. Ty gets injured at a job and struggles with rehab while Elin is heartbroken over unsuccessful attempts at getting pregnant. At one point it all becomes too much for Ty and during one of the many heated arguments he leaves. He doesn't come back for weeks. Until he does.

➦It was very interesting to see how Elin handled the sudden departure of her husband. My heart really hurt for her. He comes back realizing he screwed up big time and it was very interesting to be part of the "marriage healing" process. I love reading about relationships in books and this really was enjoyable for me.

➦I was a little unsure about the ending to this novel due to the use of a subplot. However, after thinking about it I know two things:

1. I kept plowing through it at a speed of light until I got to the last page. (and that's a rarity in itself for me these days lol)
2. I cried like a baby through the last 10% and I'm not even PMSing. Any book that gives me the feels is a good book... in my book. (ok that sounds weird.)

➦Give this one a chance if you like down to earth romances which don't sugar coat reality and might make you feel a bit emotional. This one's definitely a tear jerker but I was very satisfied with a HEA at the end.

A Top Pick For 2016
Wow. I got a glimpse of Adriana Locke's soul with Written in the scars... It is pure, benevolent and maybe a bit scarred itself. To write a book this emotional, raw and realistic, it has to come from deep within an author.... I could actually feel Adriana within the pages. ( I hope that makes sense.) This is her best book to date... Her writing is impeccable and stellar. She continues to grow with each book written. Written in the scars is not just a love story. It focuses on the people in our lives that are there for us through everything the good, the bad and especially the ugly. The importance of our family, friends and significant other. The bonds we all share make this life worth living.

Elin and Tyler are the seemingly perfect couple next door that have it all. High School sweethearts that fell in love and married young. Their bond appears to be unbreakable, until life slowly but surely piles on enough to weaken their foundation. Even the strongest of relationships can only take so much... What happens when it all becomes too much? Do you stay and fight or give up? I could actually feel the mental and emotional anguish radiating off both of them.... Even though they are severely broken their unwavering love is still present. Elin & Tyler are so relatable because they aren't perfect, they are flawed... Just like the rest of us. Within their struggle we see ourselves. That's what makes WITS such an emotional ride. The hurt and frustration throughout had me just as exhausted as the characters. I found my heart in my throat in tears in my eyes quite often.... I related to this story on so many levels. It definitely puts life into perspective. It made me think and appreciate all that I have.... Life and love are not easy, but they are worth fighting for!

5 ALMOST DID NOT MAKE IT STARS

"Bruises go away, Tyler. Scars stick around to prove you showed up for life. That you lived. That you fought. That you loved.”
"Your heart will be more scarred than your back by the end of your lifetime. That is, if you live the right way."

OMG WHERE DO I START

Well this book sucked, but in a good and bad way. Let me explain, first it sucked because I was pissed at the hero and the whole situation, and then it sucked me into the story...stupid story!
I am an emotional mess thanks to you.
Holy good God, did I work for this one.
And I am talking big ugly cry here! Complete with a ride on an emotional roller coaster.

description
I don't regret reading it, nonetheless.
Until the half way mark of this book was so mad at the Hero Ty. His reasons for leaving the heroine, while valid, pissed me off. He created his own issues with his drug dependence and not asking for help or allowing others to help was not brave it was extremely stupid!!!
description
But it was also human and he made so many mistakes at this point what was one more, right?
Wrong, they are in a marriage and she is doing everything she can to hold on to them and supporting him. That's why when he ran off like he did, I thought he was a complete quitter! I know their lives were shit at this point, but she stayed paying the bills keeping herself going.
Elin is my girl!
She is just awesome! She has had her fair share of knocks but she just keeps on smiling and getting on with life. She is the friend in need in this book, it's true.
However, throughout the book the reader learns all the ways she gives and loves others.
She is a great friend and an amazing person. I was praying she would get what she deserves.

description
Ty and Elin have been a couple since high school they are each other's everything!
Together, this couple would be challenged and eventually learn to forgive and love without fears or limits. They grow, evolve, and adapt in order to save their marriage and their feelings for each other.

Ty tells Elin
"We are two people that get it right most of the time, but, on occasion, we fuck up. I’ll take full responsibility for causing this, but I’m also taking responsibility for ending it. Honesty, transparency from here on out, but there is a here on out, Elin, because I’m done living without you."

After they both share their pain. Ty thinks,
"Elin loves me. And for that, I’m the luckiest fucker on the face of the planet. And that she still loves me after all of this? It’s a blessing I can’t fathom, but one I won’t fail to acknowledge every day for the rest of my life."

IT WAS JUST AMAZING!

Now normally in my reviews I give details about the plot and even spoilers but this time I won't be doing that. This book deserves to be experienced and if anyone wants more you can always message me.
I am glad I read this book, but I will be taking a break from the emotional reads for a while as I now have a tension migraine.

FEELS!! FEELS!! FEELS!! FEELS!! FEELS!!

Be warned that the following statements DO NOT detract from my affection for this story. I adored it. It was soooooo good. But I had a grievance and I HAVE to share it.

Am I the only one who sometimes wants to reach into a book and get in the character's face? Shake them? Slap some sense into them? That's how I felt towards Elin for the first 50% of this story. I wanted to tell her that being strong doesn't necessarily mean you have to be a bish. That in any relationship we have to accept the good and the bad. And that when you take the plunge and tie yourself to someone in wedlock, you don't quit at the first sign of trouble. You persevere. If your mate isn't someone you'd fight for, battle hardcore demons for, or love through the good, the bad and the ugly, you shouldn't be with them in the first place. Much less married to them.

Rant over!

This book wasn't about falling in love in the first place. It's not a fairy tale. Elin and Ty have been married for 7 years. The going got tough and they took a timeout. Or so Ty thought. It wasn't even two months when he was back to fight for his marriage when Elin was going on and on about them being over. Less than two months!!

Yeah, that's what I feckin said too!! Who does that??? Was I supposed to take that seriously???

Okay. Wow. Obviously my rant wasn't QUITE over.

This was a story about hope and most of all love. About finding the ray of light within the desolate darkness. About keeping love alive and strong. Building on it and nurturing it and believing that it is love everlasting. There are plenty of FEELS throughout this story and I especially loved the relationships between the five friends (Ty, Elin, Jiggs, Lindsay and Cord). I had a couple of moments where my eyes literally stung but luckily not a teardrop fell. I beat that ish back. But I think I can guarantee that you will fall in love with these characters too!

****4 STARS****

Written in the Scars is a really good book. I loved how it focuses on an established relationship, a marriage. It’s not just about that pretty stuff that happens when you first meet someone. This is when s**t gets real.

I am a die hard Adriana Locke fan, she is a brilliant writer. Even if this booked sucked I would still read anything and everything she ever writes because I love her. Well, its a good thing I don’t have that problem because this book is wonderful.

She once again proved she is a beast when it comes to writing.

Marriage is f***ing hard, trust me, I’ve been doing it for 10 years now. You’re feelings change, you grow up, you learn, you live all while connected to this other person. Everything you do effects your spouse and vica versa.

Ty and Elin met in the 8th grade, which means they know each in and out. Ty has always prided himself on being able to take care of Elin. But when Ty gets injured on the job and unable to work he starts to like less than a man.

Elin is a teacher and to keep things afloat she has to pick up an extra job teaching evening classes at the local high school.

Money gets tight, bills start to stack up, guilt begins to settle in and on top of that they are trying to have a baby. With all of that being said it’s easy to see why Ty starts to feel emasculated. Any man would. Unfortunately, he also did something many people would find unforgivable....he left.

When Ty comes back it's an adjustment for Elin, who has been suffering on her own while he was out "finding himself" or whatever else it is men do when that leave. You know how it is....

But I will give it to Ty, he was ready and willing to fight for his marriage and that's all you can do. Right?

Even when she was so pissed at him to where she couldn't see straight, he kept on fighting for his wife. He kept fighting for his marriage.

As a woman it can be difficult to forgive and forget but when you're married and promised for better or for worse, do you stick to your vows or do you cut your loses?

I enjoyed this book even though some s**t goes down that I didn't like but that's life.

Well... I thought I was up for this angst-fest, but I couldn't go on. Frankly I was a blubbering mess for so long I was getting tired of crying! I skimmed ahead, and it looks like it would probably continue too! I enjoyed it, and I was captivated...but I started to feel the hope that I had in this couple working things out start to diminish, and that wasn't ok with me. I'm all for angsty books, but I need to feel that hope! I started to get really frustrated with the h too, which doesn't bode well for me in any story. So -- I am stopping at 44%, but I might get back into it when my eyes finally lose their puffiness ;)

Woah!! I was absolutely blown away by this! This is so much more than a second-chance romance. It's about love, life, forgiveness, sacrifice, family, and friendship. I don't remember how I became aware of this book, but I wish I knew because I'm incredibly grateful. From the characters to the writing, I loved this book! I've already added a bunch of this author's books and started stalking her on social media... Mrs. Locke, if you see this, please don't be alarmed... I'm harmless ;) I love discovering new authors, especially when they have a bunch of other books that I can immediately binge on, which is exactly what I plan on doing. I do know that I've seen this author's name before and, again, I don't know where but I'm pissed at myself for not having read any of her work sooner.

description

- Ty -

Holy Moly Sweet Baby Jesus, I loved him. If you're looking for a loyal, dedicated, and completely swoon-worthy hero, look no further! He wasn't perfect. Ty was in pain and he made poor choices because of that pain, but not once did I feel like he was being purposefully inconsiderate of Elin or that he didn't love her.
"I loved her. That’s never been a question. It's making life work around the love that's hard. Life doesn't care about feelings. It couldn't give a shit about who you love and want to be with. It keeps tossing crap your way, trying to break you until all you know is the chaos of it all."
I really loved this quote, and the whole premise of the book: that relationships take more than love, they take work.
"You can't expect a relationship to succeed based on the love you felt at the beginning. It succeeds because you continue to build on it until the end."
And after seven years of marriage, Ty and Elin learn that even the strongest relationships have challenges. They struggle, they fight, and eventually, Ty leaves. He's not gone for long, forty-three days, to be exact. But it only takes a second for a life to change, and Elin suffers a loss during his absence (which he is unaware of) that makes forgiving him even harder.

description

Ty is determined to change her mind, though. What I loved the most was how there was such a nice balance between giving her space and being forceful. He didn't go all caveman on her, instead he gave her some time to get used to the idea. But his words always showed how much he still loved her and how hard/long he was willing to fight for her.
"I have wanted you since the moment I saw you at your locker in eighth grade. From the moment I asked if you had any gum because I wanted to hear the voice of the girl that took my breath away. I've wanted you since that exact second, and I've never stopped."
"I promised you for better or worse, until death do us part. This is the worse part. I'm aiming for the better now. Even if it takes me until the death part, I'll try. I love you, Elin. I'm going to remind you of that until you believe it."
He isn't afraid to admit his mistakes, say sorry, and beg for her forgiveness. It has been so hard to find a good grovel lately, and this definitely delivered! Ty was perfection <3 <3

description

- Elin -

But Elin has trouble letting go. Despite still being completely in love with him, she can't figure out how she's supposed to act. She never considered this could be her life and given what she's gone through, it's very hard for her to navigate.
"I've imagined this scenario a thousand times. The moment I saw him again has played over and over in my mind. The vision always looks different. Everything from us running in slow motion to each other, kissing like our lives depended on it, to me throwing every punch and kick I could manage straight into his gorgeous, frustrating face was possible."
It all just felt so genuine, I was crying for so much of this novel because of how well these emotions were displayed. Because while Ty is very convinced they'll find their way back to each other, Elin isn't so sure. She loves him, of course, but she's practical about the fact that maybe, sometimes, love isn't enough.
"But when you're in a hole this deep, is love a big enough ladder to climb out? It certainly doesn’t seem so."
Luckily she has a close group of friends, who are more like family, to help her through it.
"Don't make decisions because you just want to end the pain. Don't lose Ty because you're mad or hurt or confused. Be the smart girl I know you to be."
I understood her pain, anger, and fear. I thought it was just the right amount of angst. Honestly the only thing I would change is that I wish . But eventually, she can't help but let him back in.

description

I loved reading about Elin and Ty finding their way back to one another. But like I said, this story is about more than that. It touches on what it means to be a family and the purpose of people's presence in our lives. I can't say much about this without giving the ending away, but I loved how it was written. It was as beautiful as it was heartbreaking.

I was sobbing for pretty much this entire book. If you're a fan of second-chance, fated, and realistic love stories, you will definitely want to pick this up! It will hurt and I was angry at times, but I have no regrets.

And in case you need any more proof, here are some of Locke's other brilliant words:
"Maybe that's what love is, something so beautiful and perfect that you can only feel it."
"Your heart will be more scarred than your back by the end of your lifetime. That is, if you live the right way."
"Love fully, even when it gets hard. Give forgiveness, even when you aren't sure the other guy deserves it. And in every friendship you're in, don't forget to actually be friends."
"Sometimes family isn't made by blood. Sometimes it's a choice."
"Even when you can't walk in someone else's shoes, you do have to try them on."

WRITTEN IN THE SCARS: In the 'Prologue - SEVEN YEARS EARLIER' it's been six years they have been girlfriend/boyfriend, High school sweethearts, to seeing these two love birds tying the knot. This is Elin and Ty's story, spoken in 'Dual Perspectives', married for seven years.

Falling in love is easy.
Falling out of love is the hardest thing in the world.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic “ love you, Ty. For better or worse. Til death do us part. ”

I'm going into this with a whole feeling of trepidation because I have a feeling I'm going to fall down the hole of stolen tears that the author will bring me to with this book.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic “Bruises go away. Scars stick around to prove you showed up for life. That you lived. That you fought. That you loved.”

This starts off in 'Present Time' Ty has just bounced back into town and is having to face the confrontational backlash of the hurt people he left behind.

Slowly you put the pieces of the puzzle together as you're given flashbacks of their demise, small clues that tell the story of the break down of their marriage, from a coal mine accident, to trying to conceive, each putting a nail in the coffin of their marriage, like a domino effect it all comes crashing down around them like a pack of cards.

A realistic account at what can happen when all communication falls through the cracks, if these two had've sat down and talked they wouldn't've gone through all the hurt, the fights, the blame but then what would be the fun in that if we couldn't feel the emotional angst pulling on our heart strings reading the battle of trying to get their marriage back on the right track.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic “The foundation of a marriage is love. The walls of shared life are built with trust, loyalty and respect. Once those are torn down, there's nothing left standing. ”

You could almost say this was a second chance romance, mainly for the fact that Elin was on the verge of giving up to the point to see what her steps were with filing for a divorce but love never gives up and love came back knocking at her door asking for forgiveness.

The secondary characters play a big part in this book, a group of tight friends, all facing triumphs and one great loss that will affect them their wholes lives.

Where do I even begin with this book? First, I will say that this is my FAVORITE book of 2016 thus far. I can't imagine another book coming close. I loved Sacrifice by Adriana, but this book was at a different level of emotional for me. It was written perfectly and I never wanted to put it down.

This story touched my heart so deeply, I ached for those moments where the book would take me and surprised where it lead me at times. Adriana was able to take me into their story. Have you ever been in a dream and thought "was that real?" Well, when I read this, I felt like I was part of this book and that has a lot to do with the awesome writing done by this amazing author.

The story of Ty & Elin is so emotional. The secondary characters (if that is what you want to call them, they all felt like main characters to me) Lindsey, Jiggs & Cord have so much character to them, I would have thought they were the main characters.

This book, these characters showed me that there is NO cost for true Love, true Friendship and that EVERYONE has a reason for being on this earth and to have a purpose. Finding that reason may not always be easy, but Written In the Scars showed me that you may not need to know your reason, it will somehow find you.

This book will remain in my heart, always.

Fantastic. Amazing Words. Emotional...

Treasured.

This is the story of Ty and Elin who met in high school, married, and had real life problems that became too much. Ty decides that it will be best for both of them if he leaves for a while so they can both take time to think and get their heads straight. Little does he know that while he's gone for 43 days, Elin will suffer a loss that she's left to deal with on her own. Ty returns knowing that he wants his wife and his life back. Elin does not make it easy on him.

While I understood her reasoning for fighting him for so long, I also sort of understood his reasons for leaving too. This book was about real life and real life is messy at times. Relationships and marriage can be tough and this book highlights the troubles and actions of people that felt very real. I loved Ty and his dedication to getting his wife back. He was not going to stop fighting until it happened. Even if it took forever because Elin was ALWAYS the one for him.

It's not often that a book actually brings me to tears. I mean it is truly RARE. This book did though. There is a part of this story that absolutely devastated me. But again, none of the drama and angst felt contrived. It was stuff that all of us deal with in real life.

I really liked the secondary characters as well, especially Cord. Even though he had a tough life, he built a family for himself of people he chose. He was so good to his friends. He gave the best advice and wanted them to fight for not only what they believed in but for the people that were most important to them.

This was my first book by this author but it will definitely not be my last. An author that can actually have me boohoo crying is pretty talented in my eyes.

Sexy and sweet just what you need and crave for in a book. Written in the Scars had it all….romance, laughter, suspense, drama and panty melting love scenes. All of the side characters were fabulous. It kept my guessing and on the edge of my seat, just to see how it all worked out. It’s a winner and a must read I would highly recommend. 5 stars.

Safe

They were both virgins because they met in eighth grade so they were like 13 and when he was 15 he already knew he was marring her. But when they met her friend told her he was a player? What the fuck? At 13?? I assume it meant he was a flirt, nothing other than maybe kissed some girls because come the fuck on they were not even at high school.

Anyway, I wanted more.

She told him the truth and they already reconciled, I was hoping he would wallow in self guilt and she in anger after that for a while at least. The hot scenes could have been better and I would like to see a little more flashbacks of them before he left.

He was an asshole and said pretty harsh things and although he was guilt for leaving, they put it as both were equally wrong fighting and no, he was worst and it should have been addressed better.

No cheating, no past lovers prior meeting each other, no listing after other people.

Corb was amazing and I was devastated about his ending.

I was looking for a story that had angst and a sweet, groveling hero and Written In The Scars delivered. Big time. This story was fabulous because of Ty, Elin, Jiggs, Lindsay and last but definitely not least Cord. Yes, Elin and Jiggs were sister and brother but the five of them were all family.

A work and personal accident slowly changed the lives of Elin and Tyler. They had drifted apart and failed in communicating with one another. They both made poor choices in their marriage, Tyler more than Elin but he had his reasons and so did she. I loved how they slowly found their way back to each other. It definitely took a lot of grovel and chasing from Tyler and I loved every freaking moment of it. Damn, he was hot and sweet. I particularly loved when they reminisced about their first meeting in high school. Their love goes way back to their teens and it only got stronger as they fought for their marriage.

The secondary characters Jiggs, Lindsay and Cord were just as wonderful and I truly got the feeling of being in the presence of family and unconditional love. Cause that's what these characters and this story are all about. It got very emotional towards the end but I couldn't have imagined it ending any differently although it hurt like hell.
Beautiful and heartbreaking story.

This was a fantastic read/listen and a new favorite. This is my first Adriana Locke book but now I'm hooked. Beautiful angsty and emotional second chance romance! Love a hero that knows he screwed up, yet he's willing to do whatever it takes to get back his woman and won't take no for an answer. The dual narration on the audiobook is also fantastic. Loved it! 5 stars!!!!

It was me, not the book.

There was nothing wrong with it, but I didn’t connect with the h and that kind of ruined the whole thing. Apart from the whole couldn’t get pregnant for six years, and the incident towards the end which was predictable and horrible.

I did love Ty and Cord though, and those are my two stars.

4.25 - 4.5 stars

I really liked this, I was after an angsty read and I got that in Written in the Scars. I love me a second chance romance, especially when it's about a married couple who are having difficulties in their marriage.

I'm not a fan of push and pull - ridiculous really given I love angst and second chances, that's me .... Miss Contrary! In this case it was pitched just right. I knew going in I was going to get pushing away by Elin after Ty walked out on their marriage weeks before. The reasons for him walking away are drip fed through with great pacing without me getting frustrated by secrets. As the reader I hate it when the author drags out the drama with not giving me enough information to keep my interest, and I'm glad to say that didn't happen here.

I also totally got why Elin was so wrecked, angry, hurt, devastated by his leaving. There was a lot more than him just walking out and my god, did she ever make him work for it. He never gave up, not once regardless how much she pushed him away. He was relentless in his pursuit of her. I'd say he worked so hard it equalled a grovel, but to be honest I don't think he needed to grovel once it all came out. They were both to blame for their issues.

I loved the story, loved both Ty and Elin as well as the sub-characters BUT!!! Miss Locke you missed a huge opportunity with Cord

And because I'm going to be asked - there is NO cheating by either party at all.

This book hits all the high notes! I LOVED it. Small town, second-chance romance; main characters dealing with both mental and physical pain; and an excruciatingly emotional event that changes all of their lives forever.

"It takes courage to love. But to have someone to love and to love you back is worth every bump in the road.” Grab a box of tissues because you will need one for this story!!

'Written in the Scars' was a very emotional and ultimately heartwarming story of finding and keeping your one true soul mate. It was difficult to see how Elin and Ty were not together after all they had been through and the deep love they obviously carried for each other. Ty had suffered through a terrible trauma, and this very fast-paced book kept me turning the pages to see where their story would go.

“I miss her,” I sigh. “No matter what I try to think about, it’s related to her. High school. The mine. The lake.” My jaw clenches as I look at him. “Our lives are one and the same, you know? Everything we’ve been through in our lives we’ve done together. I held her hand at your parent’s funeral, remember your mom’s lemon pie every time I go through the produce section. I know she hates storms and love being there for her when she reaches out.”

“So fix it.”

I absolutely loved Elin's and Ty's circle of family and friends. I felt as though they were real people, and I felt their joy and their pain. 'Written in the Scars' is a good, old-fashioned, blue-collar small-town romance which is a wonderful change of pace from many contemporary romances out today. If you've never read a book by Adriana Locke, I highly recommend starting with this one (although I loved 'The Exception', too!). Elin and Ty's story is loving, sexy, heartbreaking at times but ultimately incredibly uplifting.

“You know, it’s better to have a scar than a bruise.”
“Really? Why is that?”
“Bruises go away, Tyler. Scars stick around to prove you showed up for life. That you lived. That you fought. That you loved.”

"Life's not for the faint of heart...."

I'll let you in on a little secret, neither is this book. If I were asked to describe this book with one word it would be, powerful. There are so many beautiful and emotional themes in this story. Acceptance, redemption, friendship, selflessness to only name a few.

This isn't a story about new found love and making it happen. This is a story about true love and making it work. Ty's actions aren't a result of him not loving Elin. He does what he feels he has to because he loves her that much. He wants to be the man she deserves, but he risks losing her in the process.

Elin told him to go but never imagined he would walk away so easily or the hurt that his absence would cause. Now she has to find a way to overcome her hurt and feelings of betrayal when she learns Ty's reasons for leaving them all behind.

The feels throughout this story will send you reeling. The love, the pain, the heartbreak. It's all here between these pages and these characters that will steal your heart. There was so much to love in this story I'm having a hard time letting go. Mark your calendars for this release. You'll be happy you did!

This. Book. Here!!!! I'm not sure if I will be able to do it justice with this review, but I will try.

Written in the Scars was such an emotional story of finding the one you are meant to be with. The one that completes you in every possible way. The one that you see yourself with until the end of time. Elin & Ty had that love, yet something happened that caused them to lose sight of the beauty their marriage brought. They could only see the ugly.

To see the pain and hurt Ty and Elin were going through was truly heartbreaking. To make matters worse, instead of sitting down to talk it over, they threw hateful words at each other. I cried along with Elin and Ty as they recalled everything they'd been through alone. Their hearts were battered and bruised and, to be honest, I didn't know if there would really be a way to get past the ugliness of everything that had been said and done. Would they ever be able to communicate with each other? Would they ever be able to let go of their resentment?

I loved their close-knit group: Lindsay, Jiggs & Cord! Cord most of all because he said it how it was, even if he knew it was going to hurt like a bitch! And, Ms. Locke? You had me bawling towards the end. I honestly did not see that coming! And to be honest, I'm still in denial!

Ty and Elin's story touched me deeply because, like them, I found the one that I cannot see my life without at a young age. Like them, we've been through our ups and downs and we survived – despite feeling, at times like we might not. Like them, we've fought for our love to succeed and we continue to fight, come what may. ~ Kara, 6 Amazing Stars!

EMOTIONAL I tell you. E-Motion-Al.
This book made me so sad but so incredibly happy. It's insane. A beautiful disaster. I cried and laughed and screamed at them for being so stupid and everything worked out. But it was a crazy train.

“It’s not just the words we speak in a moment, but the weight of words over the course of time that matters. The words you choose every day add up. You are the words you speak, whether that’s constructive or destructive.”

This book is so quote worthy like omg I loved it.

“That sometimes you have to take a step back and breathe. That you can’t make insane decisions when your head is a mess. That even when you can’t walk in someone else’s shoes, you do have to try them on.”

Another emotional book that caught my eye and I thought the title was really catchy. I've never read Adriana Locke before but was willing to give her a try.

Tyler and Elin are high school sweethearts. They get married and try to have kids but it's just not working out. There's a lot of stress and then Ty gets hurt at work and things escalate leading to her making ultimatums and him taking her up on them.

I liked the story but I did think some things were a little over the top and overly dramatic. Tyler was only gone for forty-three days but he cut off all contact and on top of that, something happens with Elin that she has to deal with all by herself. It leaves her somewhat untrusting of Ty being there for her.

description

He finally comes to his senses and tries to win Elin back but she doesn't make it easy. Well, scratch that...she does a little. But I loved how Ty wouldn't take no for an answer and let her know it.

Elin's best friend, Lindsay, is married to her twin brother and one of Ty's best friends, Jiggs. The other best friend is a guy named Cord who is also close friends with Elin. I really enjoyed how close they all were with each other and how they were family.

Of course, once you find out what Ty's occupation is, you can't help but have a feeling of what's coming. And it killed me...I was not a happy camper. But that's probably just me...

Overall, I enjoyed it but I felt things were a little too planned out and came across a little stiff. However, it did end well and I loved all the changes they all made.
