What's not to like?'About Colony This is a sci-fi series set in a human colony on Mars. The science depicted is, for the most part, plausible. In other words, what’s technically possible with either current technology or taking experimental research a step or two further. That said, you won’t need a calculator or a slide-rule to enjoy the story ;-)
These series to me are a closest realistic picture of what would/could be happening if humanity ever populates another planet. Humans will bring their ambitions, greed, extremist leanings, lust, pride, and other human factors with them wherever they go, and some of them will bring courage, goodness, fairness, love, and compassion to the same place too, and there will always be a battle between good and evil as long as humans exisst. These books are well-written with just enough of technical details for a non-technical me to understand the settings, risks, difficulty of the issues at hand, but not be overwhelmed by it. Wonderful story. And I love Gizmo! Kuddos to Gerald Kilby for giving the book such precious bit charactr that made the series enjoyable for me.
The 6 books were a fun read that kept the plot interesting. It is obviously fiction but the issues would or could be real if we ever create permanent colonies on any planet that does not have air, gravity, or water. The main characters were challenged with problems that seem plausible in this type of environment and many others created by greed and human disagreements. My favorite character is Gizmo the robot that could do anything. If you enjoy science fiction with some real science thrown in then this series is for you. Enjoy.
Continues the story, improving as he goes. Great characters, three dimensional, entertaining. The actual colonies feel realistic, plausible in the not too distant future.
This was such an exciting group of books that I could not stop reading. I can see this becoming a movie or series. I loved the characters: Jann, Nils, Mia and especially the droid, Gizmo, with such a personality!
I loved all the books in this series. They were fast paced, full of mystery, and some likeable characters. The depiction of life on Mars, and its evolution over time was fascinating.
Great storytelling. I thoroughly enjoyed this series and the wonderful characters while always thinking what a great movie or video series this would make.
