From the title and the cover art, I knew this BL novel would be a fluffy and food-oriented isekai story. I was kind of worried that it would be another one where the isekai cuisine is lackluster and the isekai residents were all awed by the “delicious” Japanese food (which I always find bland and the flavor profiles of most Japanese dishes are just a different proportion of sweetness and saltiness. There’s a reason why Europeans sought after spices from India and not miso and soy sauce from Japan). Fortunately, it’s not the case here. MC’s family used to run a western style restaurant and he had also worked as a chef at a French restaurant for 10 years. MC’s restaurant is successful in isekai because the food taste good and not because of novelty as some dishes in his menu are similar to the local dishes since Isekai’s cuisine is also very well developed. What makes his dishes stand out and win favors from the ML’s sons is his food presentation like cutting and arranging fruit pieces in the shapes of animals. I really like that the plot is highly food-oriented. The downside is that there’s little interaction between MC and ML.
