Jack Walton, a tattoo artist with dreams of having his own shop, is the only person keeping him from fulfilling his desire. Following the path that’s been predestined by the addictions of his parents, alcoholism is a daily struggle, and his dreams slip further and further away.
Then someone magical walks into his life and she opens his eyes to the light she sees in him and the future that’s his for the taking. Things starts turning around for him, but when his mother makes one last plea for his help, he’s sent into a tailspin, one that can ruin everything.
Jack has choices to make. He can have his dreams—the shop and the girl—or he can die, following the legacy of parents who never gave him any chance at all.

Have you ever needed a quick pick me up in your day? Not a cup of coffee. Not a chocolate bar. I mean a pick me up in the way of a happy ending to help you end your day or afternoon with a smile. Sometimes when your day has been stepped on you just need a little hope. This story gave me hope. And more importantly it gave me a most amazing feeling of contentment with the successes of Jack and Violet.

Jack is failure in the making. His past is pulling him down. He is treading water in a glass of Jack. He has dreams. He has hopes. He just doesn't have the strength to leave his past behind. That is until Violet walks into the tattoo shop. She is the perfect woman to throw Jack a life preserver and rescue my day.

This story tells us that we can be more than our pasts - we need to fight for the future we want. Jack has so many good things in his present but the ghosts of the past are heavy on his shoulders. When he meets Violet the future looks brighter... can Jack be the man he wants to be?

I enjoyed this story and understood Jack's reasoning about some things but got frustrated with him about some of his choices. Overall I enjoyed the read.

What an incredibly awesome story!

Such an amazing all the feels story! Jack is my all time favorite type of book boyfriend, he's alpha without being overly so, he's broken and watching him regain his life is an amazing ride!
