this book was good but also bad. but i couldn’t stop reading at all.

first off, WHY IS COLTON SO ANNOYING?? i get that his brother is asking to date his ex wife but they’re in love. your feelings don’t fucking matter at all.

secondly, WE GET IT. finn is hot asf. he’s a ER doc, ex military, tall, handsome and sexy as hell. no need to remind me every 5 seconds
-
second read: i love this. colton is still annoying asf butttt finn is hot asf and no wonder pepper fell in love with him

Some things were tiring like the obsession of the ex in finding someone. He was a selfish person.
In the book, Colton’s part is weird, he thinks like woman...
The others characters was amazing.
Finn is the MAN, but his actions are a little scary.
Pepper was the best, but she changed a little in the middle of the book!
But, despite all this, it’s worth the reading.

Pepper and Finn continue their mesmerizing dance around each other. Colton and Finn collide in a brotherly stand-off. All the gang is back for this next round filled with hot chemistry, friendly advice, and a new love for Colton.

Moving on to more guilty pleasure with the next installment to see what shakeups are in store.

I had a hard time getting through this second book. It was only about who was getting late by who, pushing each other into getting laid..It was repetitively about getting laid. It honestly took away from the story line and from Pepper and Finn.

The Man is a continuation from the doctor and what a good read, I couldn’t put this book down and read it in one sitting. Love the relationship between Colton and Pepper but then with Finn added to the mix what is going to happen. E.L. Todd this is definitely worth the wait and can not wait for the next instalment, but I need to wait nearly a month for book 3. I want to know what is going to happen wit Finn, does he have feelings? Totally in love with these characters and just don’t want the story to end.

So my review is going to be shorter than usual because I don't want to give too much away. This second book is simply amazing. The chemistry between Pepper and Finn continues to be through the roof HOT! Ladies just get ready! Finn literally makes any other man that has come before him look like a boy! You really get to delve deeper into Pepper, Finn and Colton. You go on this emotional roller coaster with all of these characters, but you also totally understand the particularly sticky situation Finn and Pepper are in, but at the same time totally rooting for them because you see just how amazing they are together. And after Pepper being married to a gay man for years and everything Finn's been through they deserve to be happy right!! Just get ready for your kindles to be on fire and not able to put them down until you've read every page!

Great read

I have fallen for the characters in this series. However...I wish I would have known that this was a four book series and that the last two wont be out for a month. The writing is terrific and I will be reading the rest. I just wish I knew because I would have waited to start reading it.

OMG OMG OMG!!!! First of all, thanks for ending the book with my mouth dropped!!! I appreciate that...says no one ever! 😂😂 Poor Finn, you damned if you do damned if you don't. Classic story of when two wrongs don't make a right! I understand Colt completely but i feel like he has too much say after what he put Pepper through. Especially after how supportive she's been to him. This was definitely a good 2nd book but I'm mad that I have to wait until next month to find out if "blood is thicker than love"! Cant wait for The Lover.

I would have given this book one star but I finished it so it has something going for it I guess? Here’s some of my issues with this book:
1. It’s FMC is a pick me and it’s WILDLY sexist. (Now let me tell you why)she drinks beer not those “fruity drinks women love”, she loves sports and loves to just chill and watch the game, she owns a lingerie store and she knows that it’s so out of the norm and sexy, she just wants to have sex not a relationship. There’s more but I won’t go on
2. The MMC has NO PERSONALITY. I get it he’s a veteran and a doctor but the man is A CARDBOARD CUT OUT OF A PERSON. There is absolutely no substance to his character. I FREAKING UNDERSTAND that he’s a war hero STOP SAYING IT.
3. This book is so packed full of cliches it’s exhausting.
4. This should have only been one single book because they just keep doing the same things over and over again. Go to the bar, go to work, do the deed with people, go home. Thats ALL THEY DO.
2 stars. Not finishing the series. I’m done.

I’m sorry but her name is Pepper, I literally cannot take anything she says or does seriously

Also the only thing Finn has going for him is the fact that’s he’s big and tattooed and the author likes to remind us of that ALL THE TIME

So when we were last with these characters, we saw lots and lots of heartbreak and uncertainty. There were failed attempts at restarting lives, making a change to the positive, and yet those things crashed and burned. Colton had put himself out there and met a guy named Aaron, felt that there may be something there, but sadly that fizzled out. Pepper started something with Mr Gorgeous, but he felt far too uncomfortable with the relationship that she had with her ex husband, and even forgiveness wasn’t enough. Ultimatums are never good and we saw how that ended.

So we’re into the second installment here, watching them try to pick up the pieces of things. It’s hard to watch happiness slip through everyone’s fingers, and we want the best, however the problems keep piling up.

The chemistry between Finn and Pepper is palpable. You feel the temperature rise in the room when ever they are near each other, and it’s really anyone’s guess on who they’re fooling by not acting on what they feel, but at the same time, they are trying not to act on what they feel. We know they kissed in the first book, and we know that they tried to draw a line there -but we also know that their connection is something that they can’t even fight, and that means that we’re going to see a fiery hot inferno erupt.

What happens in this piece of the story is intense. Pepper and Finn find that they have more than just a surface attraction and that there’s potential for something great, but they are also forced to hide what’s going on from Colton and we know that it can’t last that long.

Colton has a bit of a personal roller coaster in this book as well. He knows that he has to come clean with his parents and that means telling them that he’s divorced from Pepper, gay and without a job. At the same time, Finn gets to make his reentry to the family – and frankly there’s no way that the night will go well..and it doesn’t.

From there, there’s the challenge of Colton coming to terms with his parent’s reaction, but at the same time, finding a new job, and a new man. There are so many ups even with the downs.

We know the other shoe is going to drop when / if he finds out about Finn and Pepper, and when Finn even tries to do the right thing, is blows up in their face. So that means that no one is happy at the end of this book, just like in the first one. Now i’m off to book three because well….I have no choice but to dive right back in and see what’s going to happen.

✨Mild Spoilers✨

“You were jealous because I wasn’t yours. Now that I am, you have no reason to be jealous. I’ll make every woman in the world jealous of you.”

I know a 3 star isn’t the greatest review, but I did review book 1 and really enjoyed it and still wanted to review book 2. It wasn’t so much that the book was bad, because it wasn’t. Some things just bothered be a bit.
Finn and Peppers story is unique, they are former in laws turned lovers. I love their story, I love their chemistry, I love how Finn is SO sweet and cares SO much for her. The man found out her and her fling ended and he immediately became loyal and celibate for her, without even telling her. Like come one.
I just didn’t care for the constantly asking about everyone’s s3x life. Like I’m all about some spicy scenes, but every chapter it was “I’m getting laid, who are you boning” “why aren’t you boning anyone” “let me set you up with such and such.” It was just a bit annoying. I felt it took away from Finn and Peppers story cause they were seeing each other behind everyone’s back and everyone was so worried about their s3x life. Also the walking on eggshells around Colton who was off finding himself a new man was just annoying and the temper tantrum that he threw when Finn asked for his blessing was annoying.
I know that seems like a lot, but I did really enjoy the book and will continue onto the next book to see how it plays out and how it finishes! Who knows maybe it’ll bump up my feelings on the series 😍

“Someone could laugh and be the life of the party, but also struggle with the biggest demons.”

Drama and cliffhanger

Heart wrenching and full of angst but I couldn't put it down.
One con to this book was the sex scenes between Finn and our FMC she says it's the best sex however the author wrote her sex scenes with Jax in the first book much more sensually.
Is E.L Todd a man? The author writes Finn in an odd way, no mention of him going down on her the sex scenes go pretty quickly from kissing to penetration. I get we need to know he's so incredible his manhood is magic and hits her spot just right but are we seriously leaving out foreplay?
It's confusing although Jax pushed her to commit to him, she loved the sex and it seemed a bit more sensual. They spend a whole week with him inside her, in his bed etc where they have all the time in the world and at no point is there mention of oral or showering together.
Odd when Finn seems to want her so badly, I hated Jax giving her an ultimatum but I'm still torn a little thinking she should be with him.
I'm all for the wild effing scenes, uncontrolled passion where you have to bang one out but not when she's sleeping over every night, cuddling afterwards and the making love didn't seem as good as Jax.
If the author has to make out fmc say he's the best, then he/she hasn't properly described the deliciousness in the actual sex scene. With Jax it was clear.
Other than that the angst keeps you rooting for our fmc to have her HEA.
You fear it with Finn because his brother even says if you dont want kids and she definitely does back off. He's given us no clue he's seen a future like that with her.
Ahhhh it makes you almost want her to break it off even if they start up again. Her to date someone else maybe Finn needs to lose her to someone else to realize he wants everything with her.
Eh onto book 3

Loved it! E.L. Todd brings us deeper into this forbidden lust between Pepper and Finn, crossing unspeakable boundaries. There is so much going on here emotionally that it tears at the readers heart strings and makes you question the blurred lines of what is right and what is wrong - what is loyalty and what should be forbidden. Is Peppers obsession with Finn just a rebound thing, or is it because he is off limits? What about Finn’s obsession with Pepper - does he just want her because she is off limits? You want to be happy for her because she’s found someone that she connects with and is passionate with, but at the same time you question whether or not it’s wrong and breaks moral unspoken codes of conduct! How could they expect Colton to be ok with this? Is he being selfish or are they truly betraying him? You want to expect Colton to get over himself or take a hike because he was the one who broke her heart, wounded her self esteem, and left her discovering his homosexuality. Should she care about his feelings? It’s an amazing read that will make the reader question their sense of morality! I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Pepper, Finn and Colton's story continues. This time, things start to heat up and when they do, there is no going back. I love these three characters. They are all so real and so easy to relate to. The friendship between Colton and Pepper and the brotherhood between Finn and Colton is so strong that it creates the drama that just gets more intense between them. Finn and Pepper are so perfect for each other, but their loyalty is stronger. I loved this struggle. It made all three characters real. The emotions are high and the drama is more intense. This book will have your heart melting and then leave you hanging, needing to read the next book immediately.

Lia Langola and Michael Ferraiuolo once again bring out all the emotions, struggles and drama of this story. I always love listening to their narration. Lia and Michael enhance the experience of this series. I cannot imagine a better team to narrate the drama between Colton , Finn, and Pepper.

Book 2 is quite steamy!

Pepper and Finn's chemistry is totally off the charts. More pieces of Finn's personality are revealed and he is quite the man! The other characters also have some reveals that are quite interesting like Stella, Zach and even Colton.

I think my two favourite characters are Pepper - who is still choosing her best friends feelings over her own but she will have a wake call I am sure and Finn - continues to demonstrate that although he is quiet and has a brooding look that there is a lot more to him than meets the eye.

The cliffhanger at the end makes me want to read book 3 like yesterday!

I received a book from Hartwick Publishing and I am not under obligation to review.

This is Book 2 of the Doctor Series.

This is the continuing story of Colton, Pepper and Colton's brother Finn. Wow, what a great second part to this series. To fall in love with your ex-husband's brother is supposed to be taboo, but that's just what Pepper did. Finn has deep feelings for Pepper, too. When Finn approaches Colton on this subject, he denies him because it's supposed to be forbidden. Finn breaks up with Pepper and takes the fall, but she doesn't know he spoke with Colton to get permission to see her. When Pepper breaks down and tells all to Colton he gives his permission, but he walks out on his brother, Finn, because they were going behind his back. Another little cliffhanger. I love this series and can't wait to see what happens in Book 3.

Oh my...

Pepper and Finn are going hot and heavy but then have to stop cold when Finn talks to Colton about taking Pepper on a date. Colton is furious because he thinks his brother Finn would be disrespecting him since he was married to her. Pepper is devastated when Finn breaks the relationship off. In the meantime Colton now has a boyfriend. After Finn walks out of the bar with his colleague Pepper is heartbroken because she thinks he's going to sleep with her. She walks out and Colton follows her and she's crying and tells him she's in love with Finn. He's shocked because he didn't know they were actually seeing each other but he tells her her it's ok. Stella should put Zach out of his misery. Good grief.

The POVs were still Pepper and Colton, I wish we got to see what Finn’s thinking too because he’s supposed to be “the love interest” according to the synopsis.

I felt like Colton was overcompensating and trying to get her into a relationship because he felt bad ,trying to push her in a direction of any guy. I also don’t know how he didn’t catch on, because Finn would always stare at her and look at her first. Her other friends irritated me a bit too. She told them no, and they went ahead and set her up anyways, that pissed me off.

They were always bring up the Finn was a veteran or war hero. We get it, we know, it doesn’t have to be brought up to explain something all the time. They made it his whole personality.

I thought the first book was much better because, boy-howdy, does book two ever get into the sex! The story would have been more impactful without so much of it. The story is good if you can get past that, but getting laid is also a consistent thread with the other characters. Finn started out mysterious, broody, and fascinating with his military background. Todd balanced that with him being a good guy. However, in book two, he becomes controlling in a scary way. If a man had told me I had to obey him, we'd have had a come-to-Jesus meeting right then and there! I did like that he was loyal to Kat, and I was glad to see Colt become less selfish in his outlook. I think the repetitive theme of sex being all-important in the lives of the characters was off-putting.

Colton is so immature and selfish, he’s pissing me right off. This has to be the most shallow set of characters I’ve ever come across in a series. The only thing I know about them (and this is by the end of book 2) is that Finn is tall muscular and a war hero, Stella is perfection, and pepper is the most amazing woman with immaculate curves, and sometimes Colton wishes he wasn’t gay so he could still be married to her.

The books end so abruptly and the following book in the series starts right off with no recollection of how the previous book ended. By the end of this I’m gonna assume this should have just been one long book 😵‍💫

Anyways, off to read book 3 because now I’m invested in these people

I'm on the fence with this book I like Pepper but not a big fan of the men in her life

Finn is the silent quiet Stare at you tell you move your eyes away. He uber alpha me man you women kind of guy never says much just stares at you. I don't think Finn would be the type of guy I would hang out with let alone be attracted too. You need a personality Finns all muscles and tattoos women mostly Need emotional connection so all the other stuff is cherry on the cake. I could go for days on what I do and don't like about Finn but Pepper likes him and I want to see Pepper happy . I'm already invested so I'm going to read the next book .

Whew…..

Om my, I can’t get enough of moody, brooding sexy Finn. Finn and Pepper are melting my heart. They were drawn to each other for a reason. Aside from the intense sexual attraction, they have a deep emotional connection. I personally want to punch Colton since he is so self centered and selfish. All he ever worries about is himself. He makes all these excuses about why Finn and Pepper should not be able to try a relationship. His own insecurities about everything are getting tiresome. Hanging on to hope that book three, The Lover, will see these two getting some happiness.

I give this book three and a half stars but rounded up to four for the smut although it became kind of repetitive. Although I am enjoying the story I feel like a lot of this could have been eliminated and made into one maybe two books if people would just act like adults and talk to each other. This whole I want you but we can't be together creates angst and I understand that but there's got to be a limit and I feel it's just so repetitive with the same conversation that it gets a little old, especially since it goes on the entire book. I will say this book was chocked full of smut that the first book lacked and I am here for it.

Second book. Needs better editing.

A lot of incorrect words and needs better editing. This is the second book and should have been the ending but here we go, another cliff hanger. I don't even care if they get their HEA anymore. The drama made no sense. Why the gay ex husband could keep his ex wife and brother apart makes no sense. They should have done what they wanted and he can deal with it just like his wife had to deal with her husband being gay after five years. The s*x scenes were not romantic and were a little gross. The entire group of friends have indiscriminate S*x which is a turn off for me.

This book had it's up and down. To be honest I'm kinda over Colton, he has way to much say so in Pepper relationship and it's really annoying. I'm over his self righteousness the pure selfishness that run though this book is enough to make anyone roll there eyes. I feel like the only person worthwhile is Finn. He been honest and blunt from the get go. Still curious to see what else is in store for this series. I voluntarily read and review this ARC no monetary compensation was received the opinions I have expressed are my own.

Couldn’t put it down and finished in a day. I love the characters, they just seem so much like normal people and not super exaggerated like some characters can become.
I love how the relationship between Pepper and Finn is progressing. I like how although this is a love story between Pepper and Finn that the second POV is Colton. Would I like to hear Finns POV? Yes, maybe. But I don’t feel the that story lacks because of its absence. It’s refreshing in a way that it isn’t Finn’s pov but that just emphasises the importance of Colton in both their lives.
